Great cocktails at the top of the Harvest Nichols shopping center in St. Andrew Sq. with unbeatable views of the square.

We had reservations about the evening following poor reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. All 6 of us agreed it had been a good experience with excellent food and service.

Fabulous from booking to paying the bill! The team were so helpful and the food was sublime. Can't find fault anywhere! Lovely helpful and friendly servers too which always helps. Thank you to the whole team.

We stopped in for a quick cocktail on a recent visit to Edinburgh. The service was great. Lots of different cocktails to choose from. Reasonably priced, too. Great views across The Forth to Fife.

What a horrible place. The service was awful. Was seated and left there. Had to ask someone to take the order. Lots of staff but obviously no structure. Someone behind us was clearing a table and redressing it when a man, who I assumed was the manager, came up waving a receipt at this poor man,having a go at him about something. This poor man was red in the face and obviously embarrassed by this moron for humiliating him in public. I would NEVER step foot inside their establishment again. Waste of my time and money. I've had better service at a macdonalds!

Harvey's is very special. Much like the store, it exudes excellence with style. This filters upstairs with a delectable choice of everything. With proffessionalism there to advise on the beverage of perfection to compliment the food. There's bank balance sense there also. Its so worth a visit. Even for the Bonnie view on St Andrews Square Gardens.

Really good service with delicious and affordable food. Cocktails and views were amazing as well. Totally recommend.

Good experience , had a drink bit more than you would usually pay but the atmosphere and panoramic view more than makes up for this .

Visited with Itison voucher , set menu . Food was excellent , let down with a portion of chips in a tea cup , for gods sake give us an extra tattie ! £5 charged for this , have a word with yourself . Shame to be talking about that as food was so good as was the service . Can never understand why restaurants let themselves down with trivial things . Got to dessert and menu had changed , strange , but was then offered anything off normal desert menu , so can’t complain . Have to say though it does feel like a cafe rather than a restaurant and because of that I don’t think I would return . Thanks to all .

Great food, good service. But not much atmosphere because it seems too much like a cafeteria. But generally very good.

Decided to visit the restaurant, first time as visiting Edinburgh. Were seated promptly and drinks order taken. This arrived quickly but every other table in restaurant were given a bottle of still water but we are still waiting to be offered water. Almost finished drinks and still waiting to be asked if we wanted any food, any further drinks or even given the actual water. Other tables even brought further bottles of water. Very disappointed and will not return. Service shocking.

Visited here on New Years Eve for breakfast as a family. The welcome was warm, the table had a lovely view and there was a good selection on the menu. The food was lovely as were the drinks. Service when trying to settle the bill was slow but overall I would recommend a visit and would certainly choose here over The Ivy, this is my new favourite.

How long does it take to make coffee. We waited 20 mins on 2 americanos. However the staff were quick to bring the bill. Not an experience we intend to repeat. Very disappointing

Booked the “festive” Christmas lunch with 3 friends, travelled from Newcastle and were really looking forward to it. Such a disappointment. The venue had the atmosphere of a canteen, not so much as a Christmas decoration or cracker on the table, staff were pleasant enough but obviously rushed off their feet. Our starters were fine but nothing special, but we all had the turkey main course. Turkey was very dry, garlic mash was instant and barely a hint of garlic, sprouts were virtually raw. Had to ask for more gravy as very little evidence of it on the meal. We did feedback to the waiter and were compensated with complimentary wine, but no one came to discuss the issues. Overall a very mediocre experience, would not recommend.

What lovely place, popped up to the 4th floor to Almondine, though I’d would trust myself to some fizz & a wee macaroon. Well once I could get the attention of the servers (took forever) the product was beautiful. I thought I would have 1 more for the road, when I eventually got the server to notice I wanted her. She automatically brought me the bill!!!!! No communication of any sort 🤦🏼‍♀️ they are both very young but have no personal skill ms at all. How many stars only 2, train your staff to be customer friendly and to have manners it’s not hard!

Had lunch here and can honestly say was not impressed!!!! Our parsnips were stone cold so asked waiter to replace them with hot ones came back 5 minutes later with soggy microwaved ones 🤢 Parmesan chips cold! Chicken and mushroom rice was hot and delicious but the rest just spoiled the whole dining experience and yet they have the cheek to add an 11.5% service charge 😡 won’t be rushing back 👎🏻

The location and view means this get a 3*, food would be a 2*. Food was very average for the price and service was slow. Very loud too! View is stunning however.

Poor service staff don't have a clue!!! Waited ages to be offered drinks which took ages to arrive. Four of us at table having three courses and at every course we were given wrong meal and had to swap them around ourselves. Just needed to ask if they couldn't remember who ordered what!! Serving staff looked like they'd been dragged in from McDonald's to help out. Food nothing outstanding. We were in the restaurant part which quite frankly looked like a works canteen. Definitely doesn't live up to its hype and better places to spend your money.

This was a disappointing dinner. This is not the place to go if you have any allergies (which we wrote to them when booking). Essentially no options for gluten free (not even any boiled potatoes). The ribeye was tough and medium quality at best. Very nice staff, but very poor food. I expected more quality.

First time here and looking forward to a family meal, what an absolute let down, absolute bland decor, no atmosphere, an hour between courses with the offering of a courtesy free drink and service charge removed without asking so the staff also knew how bad tonight was. When you go out you expect a better meal than at home but not the case tonight, only good thing about this place is the view over Edinburgh at night with its sparkling lights, if you like that!!, wry disappointed

Shocking service , ignored for 15 minutes whilst 6 bar staff standing doing nothing ! Waited a further 15 minutes for drinks, left without them. Much nicer places in Edinburgh for drinks with much more superior surroundings . I would avoid.

Great view over St.Andrews Square and beyond from the fourth floor. Nice to be able to see the Christmas lights in the square and the castle illuminated looked beautiful. The service was great and the food perfectly acceptable. We had the festive dinner at £38 per head. We had two G&Ts a bottle of the house red and a bottle of. Fizzy water and a pot of tea. 11.5% service brought the bill to £154. Not cheap, but a great location. One complaint, probably enough to prevent me going back was the rather loud pop music blasting out the whole time, worse still, it was on a loop and we had to sit through the dreadful procession of songs twice. I mentioned it to the waiter who agreed with me and that after a ten hour shift it drove him crazy. We were there two hours so I can sympathise. Still could have been worse, he told me that in December the Christmas songs would be the playlist! Yikes! I love music but I don’t like aggressive sounding pop music. I would have given a five star review but for this factor alone:

Would not recommend. Went for afternoon tea and found a hair in the middle of my mini quiche and to make the whole experience worse the two male waiters were rude, paid no attention to us and ignored us. There were two tables either side of us however who got the attention of the waiters. The food got a one because it’s the worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had, if you want good food I would recommend Edinburgh castle (comes with the good service too)

Had a lovely lunch in HN - we got a table at the window and the views were great . The staff were very pleasant and the service & food was very good. Some negative reviews on here but we really enjoyed it and would definitely come back .

Service was awful. Order taken for drinks and we waited over 20mins before calling for attention of waitress who informed me they don't have the drink I ordered. I would need to make another selection , I then waited another 10 mins for my drink. I only ordered mains and side that took 45 mins to come, the food was lovely. When the bill arrived the service charge was removed. It was more cafeteria, it was open and noisy, not a comfortable environment. definitely would not recommend

Spontaneous brunch. We didn’t book but they got us a table right at the window and the food and gin was lovely.

First visit here the views a lone are so worth it. Food & service excellent. Had an enjoyable relaxing time. So worth it & prices good too. Would recommend to everyone.

Booked for lunch. Food was good but not outstanding and same could have been said for service. Worth a visit but won't be hurrying back. Outstanding view meant it received 4 stars instead of 3

Unfortunately the experience started out bumpy. As I arrived and asked to be seated, the initial reaction of the host, who didn't seem to be too motivated, was that there were no tables available while vacant tables were in plain sight. When I looked surprised and questioned the response suddenly to be seated became possible. Despite the fact that a number of nice tables were readily available I was seated at the far end of the restaurant at a service door behind a pillar. Since my primary motivation to have lunch at HN was the location on the 4th floor and the view, this was obviously very disappointing. Shortly after being seated and putting in my order I asked one of the staff to move to a better small table and I was accommodated. The food was alright, not great and the service was a bit confusing as it felt I was being served by someone else for every item, but nevertheless the service was good, friendly and efficient. Not sure I would come back or recommended. Goes to show how one person can make or break an experience.

Tried with great difficulty to book a table. Even wrote to the e mail address three times without a reply. Had to go elsewhere for lunch though! Good coffee and snacks in the morning. Something missing though for a great name like Harvey Nichols.

Stopped by for coffee, tea and cake. Lovely welcome and seated in comfy sofa. Looked after by Kelvin who remembered us from previous visit. Great service and relaxed for a while. Great!

Enjoyed the breakfast of granola and then Eggs Royale, orange and coffee. Ate the previous morning at a certain other quality establishment in Edinburgh which cost slightly less but more food of slightly better quality. Service was ok. Also visited the Almondene bar next door to the 5th floor restaurant for champagne and coffee and cake. Nice but expensive compared to other establishments.

We have dined here twice in recent weeks, and on both occasions I found the service professional, attentive and generally to a high standard. The bar area has a great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff, my Vespar was fantastic. The views from the restaurant are outstanding and the seating comfortable. The soup was delicious and both the lamb dish and cod were cooked to perfection. It was also refreshing to have white wine served at the correct temperature.

Visited for a mixologist experience. Jovan was our host. What a wonderful afternoon. Jovan was informative, engaging and funny . We got to mix our own cocktail too !

Love the view and food. Staff are friendly. It’s just it’s take time to serve the food. We ordered their summer menu, £30 for 3 courses plus a glass of Pelorus wine. Recommend to dine at their terrace. We had a lovely evening/dinner by looking at the sunset.

I write positive reviews but here the service is so lacking that I would avoid going. Avoid that is....until the staffing issue is sorted.

We had a fabulous lunch on the terrace in the summer sunshine; the views are superb. Really liked the new menu, and the wine (as always) was great. Waiting staff were very professional. Hope to be back soon.

We decided to have a cocktail after a hard days shopping, ok perhaps it was only 2pm but still refreshments were required. We sat at the ‘chocolate bar’ if that’s what its called. It had the convey belt I presume for food going round but it was not in use at the time and the barman said it was no longer used. We tried most cocktails including ones not on the menu, we asked the barman to make us one on his knowledge and he asked our likes or more like our dislikes. Whatever it was… it was good! We stayed there until closing time. We had a great time, cocktails were delicious, the service was second to none by both guys! They were chatty, took the time to listen to our likes and made us feel very welcome. The bar did start to get very busy at some point and apparently there are times when you cannot get seated. I will return for another afternoon of “shopping”.

The best place to get a cocktail in Edinburgh!

My husband and I came here for lunch on 16th June and had the 3 course lunch. The food was nice but it started with desserts being brought to our table first and the waiter just dropped them and before we had time to react he disappeared. Had to go and find someone to tell them so desserts were taken away and replaced with starters. Then my husband was served wrong main course and by the time he got the correct one, my meal was cold because I wanted to wait for him. Thankfully at the end our bill was brought over by Erin, who was lovely and apologetic. I've heard nice things about this place so maybe had too high expectations.

So, we arrived to have a pre-dinner cocktail 30 mins prior to our dinner sitting. We ordered cocktails (the cocktail area was very quiet) and waited 20 minutes......still waiting for the cocktails....and then went to our table asking the cocktail waiter to take the cocktails...

We visited on a Sunday lunch for the first time. The view is gorgeous, but the overall décor and atmosphere feels a bit sterile. Food was really good, but service was disappointing. It felt chaotic and unapproachable, although it was less busy than expected and definitely overstaffed. We were served by five different people in total and when they forgot to bring a dish, it was a struggle to catch anyone's attention to inform them. Not a single apology, the dish eventually made its way out. We requested the bill and had to wait another ten minutes to pay. Overall, it felt quite disorganised. It's a pity, because the food and the view are really incredible, but service really ruined our experience.

Visited Harvey Nichols yesterday for lunch/brunch after a long time of excitingly planning to visit. First the positives - food was fantastic and a good selection. We had the steak and eggs Benedict- really tasty and well cooked. Views over St Andrew's square and beyond are beautiful. However, we felt the service could have been much improved. A lot of staff working but all seem to be overlapping. We had six people involved in taking to table, ordering, serving, paying etc. One item was missing from our food and it took an age to get someone's attention to the point that if detracted from the enjoyment of the meal. No apology was provided when we asked for the item or when it was delivered. The staff just walked away, even though we also wanted a sauce. There was no "is everything ok for you?" Or " can I get you anything else?". Certainly not what the level of customer service I would expect when paying in this price range (plus 11.5% discretionary service charge). Loved the food and views, but I think the manager needs to step up and organise things and ensure staff are attentive to their own "area".

Always go there for afternoon tea, great options, good price, unlimited tea or coffee. They were very helpful in meeting our dietary requirements, and were quick to make adjustments

I've been here a few times now and the service is always very slow. Side dishes are regularly missed/ forgotten as well. I think people put up with it because of the exceptional views, but really I expect better.

We wanted to take time to thank the staff and manager of Harvey Nichols Fourth Floor bar and restaurant for a fabulous evening last night. We had just been out at another establishment on The Mound and received foul food and service. Therefore, the service we received was a breath of fresh air by comparison. Equally, we enjoyed a table with a spectacular view of St Andrews square along with deliciously fresh food, superior quality wine and elegant cocktails. It has been a few years since we visited this gem of a bar but will be back soon. Highly recommend.

Winter dining menu disappointment on Tuesday 14/3. Ham hock dry, pine nuts not toasted. Smoked haddock risotto underwhelming and under seasoned - more like rice pudding. Fellow diners disappointed in onion soup, which seemed to lack the cheese and garlic toast. Roasted aubergine balls cold....

Called in for a browse around the clothing on a day trip into Edinburgh and decided to have a cuppa and a cake. Friendly professional staff serving a good choice of teas, coffees and one of the best carrot cakes we have eaten all at surprisingly affordable prices.😁 Lovely ambience and great views over the Edinburgh city skyline......well worth a visit.

Had coffees, teas, cakes and scones as a group. Scones were surprisingly big and very good. Staff lovely, and really nice setting and atmosphere. In fact, don't visit, because I don't want big queues next time I go.
