Unfortunately we were unable to test since we were refused access because we had a child with us, at 6 p.m. that sucks! The waiter even refused to serve us and invited us to look elsewhere! Very disappointing !

Thank you to Gillie and Taegan for taking such good care of us. Such a lovely bar, can't wait to come back.

Good service ,nice location ,cozy place but food wasn’t good at all .After 50minutes waiting I got over done steak ,and 10minutes after I returned it I got another steak -same bad as before.Squid and fish -too much breading, duck - big disappointment. In general - good place for a drink , eat only if you have to . Ps.To the owner : I did ask for MEDIUM - not WELL DONE .

Had a great steak ale pie! Good tasting and filling. My wife also really liked the fish and chip.

Great stop off the Royal Mile. Stopped by more than once and always pleased. Many elevated pub grub choices. We had the fish and chips and chicken Kiev. Both are very good choices. Servers were more than friendly, and the food came quite quickly. A large choice of Scottish whiskeys and beers.

Small portions and the patty in the burger were overcooked, resulting in an incredibly dry and bitter burger. At that price, one would expect more. The service was okay.

Had a really lovely time at Albanach this afternoon. Sat at the bar and had some expert whiskey recommendations from Sol, one of the bar tenders. He gave us amazing recommendations for things to do in the area as well. Really lovely experience and great drinks! Would absolutely return again!

Great atmosphere and a lovely place to enjoy a drink or two. My issue was, though they claim to be 'the place' to drink Whisky in Edinburgh, they didn't have a whisky list. 'Sight seeing only' the bartender told me. That doesn't help when there's a huge crowd around the bar and you want to see a list of what they have. A little disappointing, but nevertheless - we enjoyed our drink (or two) in there.

Delicious food - I had the pulled mushroom chilli. Friendly staff. Tops.

My mom and I stopped in here for a quick drink and I wanted to get some fries. I preface this that I currently work in the restaurant industry as a bartender back in the states so I understand when things get busy or sometimes service takes longer. However, I could tell the bartenders were over their heads for how many people they were serving. There was a sign that said order at the bar so I waited. We kept getting passed over so I waited on one end and my mom waited on the other. Both bartenders kept passing us up even though we had been waiting longer than anyone else. Finally my mom finally said something to one of the bartenders and she helped us. I tried to be as concise as possible . We ordered an IPA and a single money 47 gin with lemonade. The bartender that helped us was trying but she obviously wasn’t prepared or properly trained. She then told us it was her first week. It was a Saturday and she was one out of two people behind the bar. The other bartender acted like she couldn’t be bothered and was working very slow. The new bartender put the pint under the pour spout and just started pouring it making the beer 100% foam. She ended up fixing it. I want to stress this isn’t her fault but it is on the people managing the bar and coming up with the schedule. She needed to be properly trained and the more seasoned bartender needed to have a little more pep in her step. For example she had a bar full of guests and would pour a beer not asking what the next guest wanted to cut down on time waiting. No multitasking skills. I’m very disappointed in the service. I also ordered fries and the new girl didn’t know to ask if I wanted any sauce. Well when someone brought our fries out she quickly placed them on that table and turned away moving through the restaurant quickly. I patiently waited at the end of the bar till I saw her again to ask for some ketchup. I understand when places are busy it can be hard to maintain proper level of service but don’t put someone who has probably spent no time behind the bar on a busy Saturday. Would probably not recommend or come back due to this experience.

The pub offers a fantastic selection of whiskeys and beer, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. While the food was decent for pub fare, it's more suitable for accompanying a few pints rather than being a standalone dining option. If you're solely looking for food, you might want to consider dining elsewhere.

Very poor service the girls in the bar don’t know how to aproach in a warm manner .

We only stopped in for a drink on the way back from an afternoon walk but wished we had've had more time to sample the food as the menu looked great. A lovely old traditional pub that I'm glad we stopped in for a drink in.

Staff were lovely, great advice on beers and whisky to try.Food dreadful, chicken and bacon sandwich so badly cooked the meat couldn't even be chewed! We sat by the window and draft below table was freezing. Avoid.

Lively pub on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh. Good selection of beers and whisky to enjoy. They open quite sharp on a Saturday. Can get quite busy with all the foot fall. Recommended! Great coffee!!

This is the second time we’ve come to the Albanach in our 3 day stay in Edinburgh. The food is good but the service is the best! The staff is super knowledgeable about whiskey offerings and beer selections. Definitely would recommend.

Brilliant pub ! We’ve spent all weekend here, food was delicious and huge portions, drinks are great, live music was fun. The whole pub atmosphere is brilliant and the barman Austin is fantastic! Love it! Will definitely be back next time we are in Edinburgh.

Been coming here for a few weeks now, staff is always friendly they are creating a nice atmosphere both for locals and tourists. Austin is very knowledgeable in all drinks, he offers the right choices after listening to customers. Recommended

The salmon fish cakes were burnt to a crisp and the steak pies were overly rich. This was after waiting an hour for our food before asking an employee about it and finding out that he had not entered it into the computer correctly and apparently never thought anything of it when we just never got any food. On top of all of that they couldn't serve me the whiskey that I wanted because it had the wrong price in the computer which seems to be an insurmountable obstacle.

Nice pub, bit on the pricey side but it’s on the royal mile so can’t complain. The barman with the pink ponytail was incredibly rude, shouting at me to bring my ID when my girlfriends parents were ordering. When we were ordering he just randomly swore because something wasn’t working. Just didn’t pay attention at all and was talking with his friend the entire time we were trying to get served. He had a very nonchalant attitude. He was incredibly rude to the other customers as well, I don’t think this guy should be working with the public with an attitude like that. We were then served by his colleague with long black hair and glasses, he was great.

A bar with such a great atmosphere we visited it every day that we were in Edinburgh!!! We saw live music, enjoyed great beers and even better whiskys from behind the bar, I had one of their malts of the moment which was smokey with a lingering flavour that coats the tongue but was so good I had to have two. Without a doubt this was the bar for us on the Royal Mile and one we all fell in love with

We ate here before heading to the airport and it didn’t disappoint. Big portions to keep us going for the day. Food was delicious and well presented. Side salads were plentiful and fresh and the roasted peppers were a great addition. There was a bit of a delay bringing out one of the main dishes but it was just a mix up because a starter had been ordered. Good service otherwise. Would recommend for food and drinks.

A must to go when in Edinburgh. Traditional Scottish pub with very nice food and a big range of whiskey (300) to taste. Is in the very center of the old town. Highly recommended!!!!

Always pop in here when I'm in Edinburgh. There was live music and it wasn't too overcrowded. Service was quick. They specialize in Whiskey (when in Scotland of course) and do have an amazing selection.

Had a few drinks, the server was either stressed out or not paying close enough attention but not a pleasant experience. Little seating space indoor but cosy nonetheless.

Mon,tue,weds, I called in on way past at 22:00 only to find it clised or last orders had been called.

Y’all know the theme song to cheers? “Where everybody knows your name, where they’re always glad you came” well that’s the albanach. The crew that works here are beyond lovely and treat you like you’ve just come home. They know the whiskey they serve and the kitchen makes a mean bite, and I love going here every time I come to this town.

Came to Edinburgh for nye with my boyfriend & stopped off in this pub and instantly fell in love here. Such a cosy beautiful pub but it was the staff that made it for us. Immediately felt at home and laughing away. The staff were absolutely hilarious and such an amazing team, bouncing off each other and us also. Loved them all made our evening so we went back the night after and the exact same atmosphere. So helpful with drink selection and trying to find you exactly what you wanted. Thank you to all of you! 1 star because 0 it’s not possible. I booked 20 days in advance for dinner on January 1st and today when we entered the pub for our dinner they told us that the kitchen was full. No one tried to contact us by telephone neither by email, and they just told us: we are sorry. We booked for 20:30 and every other place was closed so they left us without dinner. Worst experience ever, really unprofessional.

We have had the best experience thanks to Teagan. She has been lovely from the very beginning. The bar was crowded, has it was New Years Eve but she accommodated us as soon as she could, she got us a better table and even though it was late she spoke with the chef’s and got us the best food. Specially the mushroom chilli was amazing. She was so polite and happy the whole time, checking on us every time she walked by. Thank you very much, Teagan!!!

With an impressive selection of tap beers, wines and spirits. Including a whisky selection unrivalled on the mile, the albanach is a perfectly situated slice of scottish heaven for locals and tourists alike. The staff are friendly and on top of things making the experience enjoyable from beginning to end. The food is also an amazing draw. Portions and pricing is fantastic. Definitely a place worth visiting.

A cosy pub in central Edinburgh. Great service, such lovely staff and the food was superb. Lovely selections of spirits. I usually don't have high expectations when it comes to pub food, but this was so good. The mac n cheese was just what we needed after a long day of touristing. I wish we had more time in Edinburgh to try more drinks and more items from the menu!

The food was good and it was brought to the table really fast. You pay first at the bar and then you wait for the server to bring it up.

Ich habe diese Bar während meines Edinburgh Aufenthaltes jeden Abend besucht. Es gibt eine riesige Whisky-Auswahl und das Servicepersonal kennt sich sehr gut damit aus. Das Ambiente ist typisch schottisch, typisch Pub. Zum Wochenende hin gibt es oft live Musik und das Lokal wird ziemlich voll. Die Stimmung war immer hervorragend. Ein gemütlicher Ort um den Abend ausklingen zu lassen.

Been here so many times when visiting from Switzerland, food is incredible, amazing beer, amazing whisky and even better staff. Can't wait to go back

I can't recommend the beer and chips enough. My favorite chips in all the places that I tried in Edinburgh! I'll have to come back and try more food because WOW.

Always go when in Edinburgh, Whisky menu is stunning. What a shame, was in here last week, and was frankly stunned by the changes here. Now owned & run by Greene King, and frankly, ripped the heart out of this place. Gone is the 4 page whisky menu, yes they have some whisky for sale but nowhere near what they used to have. Doubt we'll come back now tbh as it is NOT what it was.

Albanah is in the prime location of Edinburgh. The traditional bar serves excellent bar food and snacks. Their whisky selection is better than the other ones in the high street. The selection of beers in the draft is also very good. They do offer wine by glass to pair their food. Full House even on a Monday evening.

Fantastic whiskey collection, but charging 10£ for a drum of ledaig sinclair series when the bottle costs 40£ is just ridiculous.

Scotch whiskey konusunda beni bilmediklerim konusunda aydinlatti. 1 gun daha bu sehirdeyim , sanirim biraz daha whiskey tadimlayip bilgilenecegim.

I had the fish & chips. It was so good, super fresh, it was almost melting in your mouth, so tasty. The place looks very authentic 👌 only thing you need to wait considerable time to be able to order at the bar. Anyways , recommend 👌
