Great place to eat, food was delicious, will definitely be back, all the staff are very friendly and pleasant, nice to see staff who actually enjoy there job

A HUGE thank you to all for taking a last minute booking of 13 after a panic thinking my dad’s 60th was ruined after an issue with another restaurant. Jade was incredible in her service & the food was amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough & I will be back. ☺️

The food is excellent, perfectly coocked meat! I was reccomended by a lokal of this place. It is so true what is stated on the entrance, it must be the best kept secret of South Queensferry! Friendly and skilled staff, creating a good atmosphere. My favuorite place in the area, will soon be back!

The owners and team pulled out all the stops to facilitate a large booking for us to host a Trafalgar Dinner. The food was delicious, the drinks were great, the service 5 stars. Erin and Mikey hosted the whole evening and nothing was too much trouble. This restaurant is one to watch, professional, excellent service, friendly and the food was delicious and served to perfection. Thank you 🙏

Rating IMO: 4.5 Amazing view, fast and friendly service. Battered fish was okay, ginger pudding was quite delicious. I sit outside and very much enjoyed the vibe and scenery. It's quite relaxing.

We booked the private rooms at The Boathouse for our anniversary celebration in September, and we cannot recommend highly enough. Dayna went out of her way to ensure our day was perfect, from meeting with us beforehand to chat everything through, to meeting with the chef to organise the most amazing buffet for us - she made sure everything was absolutely perfect. The day itself was so special and a big thank you to Emily too for taking such good care of us. All of the team were so friendly and welcoming, and made this a special day we will remember for a long time

The food was excellent as was the service we received.

First of all, the view is spectacular. Incredible view of the river Forth with both of the amazing bridges!!! I had the mussels, which were fixed with a Thai like flavored broth. This was a very tasty dish, and fortunately I had some toasted bread from my charcuterie plate to soak up and eat the delicious broth. The charcuterie plate was nice but unremarkable. I had the rhubarb crème brûlée. It was okay. I was really expecting the custard to be infused throughout with rhubarb flavor. Instead, there was a layer of rhubarb in the bottom. I wish I had tried the pistachio ice cream dessert instead.

Booked private dining for a family birthday, it was amazing, incredible food, staff were amazing and the guys couldn’t have been more accommodating with making sure everyone was catered for, highly recommend. Thank you guys 😊

Zack, Cameron and Jack are great chefs. Food is sourced very fresh and these guys don't spare attention to detail. Service is excellent too. This place might just have the best food in Edinburgh.

A favourite local spot recently taken over by the Rogue Bros…I’ll admit, I was anxious about the change but wow!! The food, the options, drinks options and ambience have only been elevated!! Our top favourite SQF venue remains just so. The enviable view will forever remain but with the added vibes from the incredible staff team, the food and drinks choices…this wee gem is first class. Would love to see a wine pairing menu please 😁 but top job Rogue Bros

Great location in Queensferry (the FERRY) serving a collection of seafood with some non-seafood bites. Excellent staff, accommodating for gluten-free folks, and generally good all around. View of harbour and bridges is excellent as well.

Stunning setting and gorgeous interior. We were a group of 6 and opted to do sharing plates. All of the dishes were delicious, fresh & full of flavour. The crab fritters were a highlight. All of the service staff were lovely & friendly!

What an absolute gem. Having found this place on Google, it lived up to more than we could ever expected, and really made our silver anniversary. The staff were excellent at all times, the food was out of this world, and the atmosphere and deco was second to none. An unbelievable restaurant which we will definitely visit again in the near future ☺️

We have eaten here before and the food was fantastic. It’s a shame we were very let down by the service recently as we looked to book for my dad’s 60th birthday meal. Were left with the impression we had a booking secured and were awaiting a callback to know what time we had available, to never receive the callback. I called to follow up to be told there would be a message put in their teams chat and I’d get a call back the next day. Still waiting a week later with no word so we had to try and find somewhere else last minute for the birthday. A real shame as we were really looking forward to going there.

Lovely lunch - great food, friendly and efficient service and a spectacular view. Will definitely visit again to try more from the interesting menu but will have the corn ribs again for sure!

We're so lucky to have this place in SQ! Food was really interesting, varied and delicious. The 'corn ribs' were amazing, but so was all of the food. We opted for small plates to try lots of things and everything was so tasty. Nice couple of beers on offer, it would be nice to see some more craft beers on the menu in the future but I've heard the wine menu is brilliant. Keep up the great work!! We will be back again very soon!

Celebrating my son’s 18th we had a family get together at Rogue Bros @ The Boathouse. Dayna and the team couldn’t do more for us for us when we had to rearrange last minute. The restaurant Space was incredible the food was delicious and the service was polite, cheery and efficient. If you are looking to host a celebration in the Ferry there really is nowhere better. Well done team Rogue Bros we’ll be back !

Wonderful location right on the waters edge looking over the Bridges. Very reasonably priced lunch specials, with no corners cut. Mine was a perfectly cooked steak with pepper sauce, fries and salad. Friendly staff. Definitely one for a return visit

Great place. The food is tasty, fresh, and fairly priced (which is far from a given around Edinburgh). The service is exceptional. In short: definitely worth a stop and even a trip from Edinburgh for a nice lunch or dinner with a view!

Our 2nd visit to the Boathouse with family and friends, there were 18 of us on this special occasion and we had a private dining room with an amazing view which everyone could see and enjoy. The food and service was exceptional and also catered for a wide range of dietary requirements within our group. At the end of our meal we were able to sit outside on the spacious veranda again with beautiful views. Thank you so much to Mike and all the staff for their wonderful service and the delicious food!

Came her on a Sunday with my partner and my parents! This was our second time here after a long time. I can safely say, this restaurant is so lovely- the staff are all super lovely and will to have a chat! They all wished me a happy birthday, even the staff that weren’t serving me did too! The food was lovely, we got an assortment sharing starters- I would recommend the whipped brie!! My parents wanted to try the plaice, however they were out! But the wait staff were so lovely and helped recommend another dish similar- which was equally tasty. Even though we were the last ones, holding everyone up from leaving, everyone was so patient and nice to us!(working in hospo it could never be me). Either way, I want to specifically shout out the waitress with the money piece (she was so sweet)! Please make sure she knows she’s doing a great job!!!

Menu isn’t run of the mill by any stretch, it is imaginative yet well considered. A real mix of dishes for everyone. Calamari is 5⭐️ by itself

Outstanding evening on 14th July, food was creative and delicious, staff were relaxed, helpful and friendly, great views and price was £38 pp including cocktails, wine, prawns calamari scallops and steak. Can’t wait to go back.

Not Recommended. 1. Cafe at best not a restaurant 2. Very casual 3. Staff seem like they don't want to be there 4. Bell from the kitchen when food is ready gets annoying 5. Music - does not match the place or menu 6. Small portions 7. Seems like a mostly frozen menu 8. No atmosphere 9. No table check 10. Sat without drinks for 25mins 11. Views are great but seats are uncomfortable 12. Manager was helpful and sorted the bill.

It was my first visit to the Boat Houses in South Queensferry, just outside Edinburgh, and I had an incredible meal. The food was splendid, the view spectacular, and the service top-notch. The overall price was reasonable as well. I truly enjoyed my time there. A special shout out to Jade for her outstanding customer service. She made my visit even more enjoyable!

Stunning location and views, great service, decent (but not remarkable) food. The food is nice - a few dishes were very good - but portions aren't huge for price. That said, given the location, this is well worth a shot.

A must try when in South Queensferry. Service and atmosphere both spot on. We had plaice and skate wing, they were insanely delicious.

We were at this restaurant back in October 2023, where we and two family members from the USA had a very lovely evening with good food, sorry I mean ( GREAT FOOD), and a lovely atmosphere, so we were really desperate to come back to The Boat House for the fine dining experience. Yesterday evening we had the opportunity to come back again, but wow, this experience was the opposite end of the spectrum from our first visit. The first thing that caught my eye were dirty tables, and an atmosphere which didn’t feel most inviting , but hey hi, we hoped the dining experience was still the same. We did have a lovely starter of warm focaccia style bread with a nice honey butter and some olives, I did compliment the waitress telling her it was delicious.For a main I opted for the Sunday roast, which sounded appealing coming from the recommendation from the young waitress. When it arrived it was a plateful, which didn’t faze me as I like my food and I was hungry, but unfortunately the huge Yorkshire pudding was cold and burnt a little around the edges, but the beef was literally as tough as the sole of a shoe, even my knife could barely cut it. I’m not one to complain, but I had to as I wanted to enjoy a nice meal, and not get into a fight cutting meat!! The young staff apologised and said they would get me another Sunday roast. I had no idea how on earth they were going to make the beef more tender in a couple of minutes before returning with another plate of food. Well it was between 5-10 minutes when they came back with my replacement food. Again a large well done Yorkie Pud, burnt a little, but this was covering the beef which was absolutely raw meat with a horrible fatty edge!!!! I mean should the chef not control this before it’s taken out to the customer?! Obviously I sent it back, I wouldn’t relish a bout of food poisoning at any time. The staff offered me a replacement meal but I was feeling so queasy I declined and went without a meal. To top off the evening, my wife popped into the ladies on the way out, and was almost wiped out by a member of staff, possibly cook, who was absolutely thundering down the stairs in a mad rush, and was inches from colliding with her as she left the bathroom. All in all, a complete disaster of an evening which we had held so much hope for, a truly bad experience.

The food here is absolutely delicious. The flavours of the dishes we had were just so lovely and will definitely go back for more. The service was absolutely brilliant especially Emily. Such a lovely atmosphere as well as the choice to eat inside or outside.

Do not recommend. The staff are incompetent and rude. Especially the Manager serving on Saturday night. She was more concerned about her ego than providing actual customer service. Shocking service. There’s much better restaurants in South Queensferry that serve higher quality food, are better value, and know how to treat customers.

All the food was perfect! Why does Scotland tap water taste better than most bottled water? I had the brie, truffle fries, lamb & cabbage in dark gravy which was the best lamb I've ever tasted in my life.

Absolutely 100% the best views in Edinburgh. You will not get an experience like this. Amazing staff, extremely friendly, helpful & chatty. Food was divine. Even my gluten free and alcohol free requirements were NO hassle at all. I was made a delicious mocktail just based on what flavours I told the waitress I liked!!!! No photos of the incredible food or drinks as we were too busy enjoying but see what I mean about the view!!!!!!! Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went to go for a meal with the kids and I must say the food is average at best. It’s been a while since the last visit and we were told it’s under new management.. what a shame as the food was great the last time with so many fresh sea food options..no wonder the restaurant is empty. Everything we ordered was really tasteless, some of the food tasted like it had been sitting a long time or possibly reheated. I won’t be returning nor recommending this place to anyone.

We had a fantastic meal at the boat house, now owned and managed by the team from Rogue Bros. The food was delicious, and the staff were attentive and friendly. Pricing was very fair for the quality of the food being served. The views over the forth are an added bonus. Will be back regularly, and advise all locals to go and support the new owners.

We have been several times now since the rouge bros take over and cannot recommend highly enough. The food is excellent, the menu is changed regularly and accompanied with great cocktails and quality/reasonably priced wine list. The service is incredible, no matter who is serving you can guarantee them to be personable and attentive, remembering small details from one visit to next. If you are in town on a Sunday, the roast is a must! The overall experience is second to none in the ferry! Thanks to the team and keep up the great work!

We went here for our Valentines meal, gorgeous food and great seasonal menu! They handed out a rose to every table which was a nice touch. Staff were really friendly, seemed really enthusiastic and excited about all their plans for the venue! Decor could do with a bit of a refresh but sure it’ll all happen in time! Most important thing is the food which was brilliant! 👏🏼 possibly would be nice to see more fish dishes on the menu / and maybe a dietary requirement key but personal preference.

Our experience at the Boathouse in Edinburgh was a mix of highs and lows. While the ambiance and service were pleasant, there were a couple of notable drawbacks that led to the deduction of two stars. Firstly, the lack of fish options on the menu was disappointing, especially considering the restaurant's name and its location by the water. As seafood enthusiasts, we were hoping for a wider selection to choose from. Secondly, the quality of the kids' menu left much to be desired. My nephew's meal was particularly disappointing; the sausages were fatty and unappetizing, resulting in him not finishing his meal. Despite these shortcomings, the overall dining experience was satisfactory, with friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. However, we hope the Boathouse considers improving its menu variety and the quality of its kids' offerings in the future to provide a more well-rounded dining experience for all patrons.

Wow. What superb staff and food. We got what seemed the best seat in the restaurant with a fantastic view of the Forth Bridge and small beach. All our servers were attentive and friendly and really seemed to enjoy their job. The food was brilliant and my sole with anchovies and capers delicious. So fresh it slipped off the bone. Best place I have been to in Queensferry.

First time visiting here, it is under new management who are absolutely rocking it. Best meal we have had in a while, service was amazing, views amazing, prices great and cheesecake was dynamite. Scotland needs more places like this. We will be back and highly recommend everyone to give it a try.

So I was last at the boathouse in 2022 when we moved in to SQ. Eager to see what the new management from roguebros have done with the place - my partner & I booked in for a meal. I enjoyed an original starter , really nice to see someone in the restaurant space trying new things with food (corn ribs w/squid ink aioli) & classic beer battered fish (w/dulse scraps!🤤) But for me the dessert was definitely the show stopper. Basque burnt cheesecake with a garnish of candy floss! Wine menu is decent & a welcome departure from the typical play it safe new world stuff. Having spoken with the manager he is enthusiastic and I would also say motivated to bring a bit of energy to SQ high street. We look forward to returning for Sunday roast & the idea of vinyl collections in the upstairs area is both novel & appealing. Great work. Ps: price was fair & our server made us aware of service charges on the bill & only too happy to remove it. We didn’t remove it , our meal was worth every penny & I wish them all the best.

We had a delicious lunch yesterday 6/01/24. We decided on the spur of the moment to have the morning out and we tried other establishments in S.Q. Only to be turned away because we hadn’t booked. The Boat House welcomed us in even though we had not booked. The staff were very friendly and helpful as I have a dietary requirement, we would highly recommend this lovely restaurant. The views over the forth are breathtaking. Thank you all that work there.

Brilliant choice for seafood lovers but lots of choice for those that prefer other things. The scallops were delicious. The service was attentive but inobtrusive and we were able to enjoy our meal and further drinks over the afternoon. Fantastic setting with the views of the bridges, lovely decor, warm and comfy. Look forward to my next visit, much sooner than before

Our last evening in Scotland....South Queensferry.....wonderful atmosphere and superb food!!!!!!

It was an afternoon visit we made to this restaurant. It was quiet and we had a very relaxing meal. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I will recommend to friends and family, I will definitely be returning there too.

Decided to go here instead of our usual visit to Scotts as hadn’t been for a while since our last disappointing visit. Sorry to say still slightly disappointed, 4 of us visited, 2 starters of mussels which were superb and 2 starters of duck croquettes which looked more like large chicken nuggets rather than cylindrical croquettes and were not very tasty to be honest. Mains, both Place and Hake off the menu which 2 of us were looking forward to so one had the fish and chips which was ok nothing special, one had the tuna which was really good, one had the pork which again was really nice, my partner had the pasta dish with goats cheese which was so small it looked like a child’s portion and was finished within seconds and really not that good. Again for dessert 2 dishes were off the menu one being cheese and biscuits, I mean how do you run out of cheese it keeps for ages. All in all pretty average and sorry to say for someone who lives local I’ll be back at Scotts next time. Sorry, but pretty disappointed.

We visited Edingburgh but chose Dakota Hotel (just outside Edingburgh) as a place to stay overnight. We chose not to eat at the hotel's restaurant and asked some of the staff members for recommendations. It was The Boat House that caught our attention and it was the right choice. We were the first family there but understandable considering that we arrived around 4pm. Andrew did a very good job hosting us and catering for my fussy requests; I wanted so much to have scallops that I had them for starter (not on the menu) and as a main course. Because I wanted some king prawns as well they added two of them (quite big actually) to the mains in order to make my favourite fish dish, scallops & king prawns. In addition to these we had oysters (fresh, big and tasty), duck and fish & chips, all cooked wonderfully. The view was great, overlooking the bay and Forth Bridge. This is a place we will visit again for sure!

Lunch with a windowseat view of the three bridges. The staff were lovely and the food nice, although quiet expensive, as portion sizes smallish. On the day we visited the restaurant was not busy, I wonder why?, which in its self did not create much of an atmosphere.

Popped in here for lunch. Got a window seat with stunning views of all three forth bridges. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good and wine, which was recommended by the staff, was excellent. If you are in South Queensferry I would highly recommend the Boathouse for a bite.

Lovely food with great view across the Firth. My family and I stopped here on our way to Edinburgh Airport. So good to have a fine meal before spending time with bland offerings at the airport.
