All the food was perfect! Why does Scotland tap water taste better than most bottled water? I had the brie, truffle fries, lamb & cabbage in dark gravy which was the best lamb I've ever tasted in my life.

Absolutely 100% the best views in Edinburgh. You will not get an experience like this. Amazing staff, extremely friendly, helpful & chatty. Food was divine. Even my gluten free and alcohol free requirements were NO hassle at all. I was made a delicious mocktail just based on what flavours I told the waitress I liked!!!! No photos of the incredible food or drinks as we were too busy enjoying but see what I mean about the view!!!!!!! Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went to go for a meal with the kids and I must say the food is average at best. It’s been a while since the last visit and we were told it’s under new management.. what a shame as the food was great the last time with so many fresh sea food options..no wonder the restaurant is empty. Everything we ordered was really tasteless, some of the food tasted like it had been sitting a long time or possibly reheated. I won’t be returning nor recommending this place to anyone.

Had a lovely lunch at the Boathouse with some friends recently and would highly recommend it. Food, service and atmosphere all excellent, not forgetting the very tasty cocktails. Location is ideal with stunning views across the Forth. Looking forward to coming back soon 😊

We had a fantastic day and evening here, it was my daughters 18th. We hired the private dining area, can't thank the staff enough. The food was excellent, everyone had a great day. Thanks to the Rogue Bros and the Boathouse team. Would highly recommend the Boathouse for a private dining event.

We had a fantastic meal at the boat house, now owned and managed by the team from Rogue Bros. The food was delicious, and the staff were attentive and friendly. Pricing was very fair for the quality of the food being served. The views over the forth are an added bonus. Will be back regularly, and advise all locals to go and support the new owners.

We have been several times now since the rouge bros take over and cannot recommend highly enough. The food is excellent, the menu is changed regularly and accompanied with great cocktails and quality/reasonably priced wine list. The service is incredible, no matter who is serving you can guarantee them to be personable and attentive, remembering small details from one visit to next. If you are in town on a Sunday, the roast is a must! The overall experience is second to none in the ferry! Thanks to the team and keep up the great work!

We went here for our Valentines meal, gorgeous food and great seasonal menu! They handed out a rose to every table which was a nice touch. Staff were really friendly, seemed really enthusiastic and excited about all their plans for the venue! Decor could do with a bit of a refresh but sure it’ll all happen in time! Most important thing is the food which was brilliant! 👏🏼 possibly would be nice to see more fish dishes on the menu / and maybe a dietary requirement key but personal preference.

Our experience at the Boathouse in Edinburgh was a mix of highs and lows. While the ambiance and service were pleasant, there were a couple of notable drawbacks that led to the deduction of two stars. Firstly, the lack of fish options on the menu was disappointing, especially considering the restaurant's name and its location by the water. As seafood enthusiasts, we were hoping for a wider selection to choose from. Secondly, the quality of the kids' menu left much to be desired. My nephew's meal was particularly disappointing; the sausages were fatty and unappetizing, resulting in him not finishing his meal. Despite these shortcomings, the overall dining experience was satisfactory, with friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. However, we hope the Boathouse considers improving its menu variety and the quality of its kids' offerings in the future to provide a more well-rounded dining experience for all patrons.

Wow. What superb staff and food. We got what seemed the best seat in the restaurant with a fantastic view of the Forth Bridge and small beach. All our servers were attentive and friendly and really seemed to enjoy their job. The food was brilliant and my sole with anchovies and capers delicious. So fresh it slipped off the bone. Best place I have been to in Queensferry.

First time visiting here, it is under new management who are absolutely rocking it. Best meal we have had in a while, service was amazing, views amazing, prices great and cheesecake was dynamite. Scotland needs more places like this. We will be back and highly recommend everyone to give it a try.

So I was last at the boathouse in 2022 when we moved in to SQ. Eager to see what the new management from roguebros have done with the place - my partner & I booked in for a meal. I enjoyed an original starter , really nice to see someone in the restaurant space trying new things with food (corn ribs w/squid ink aioli) & classic beer battered fish (w/dulse scraps!🤤) But for me the dessert was definitely the show stopper. Basque burnt cheesecake with a garnish of candy floss! Wine menu is decent & a welcome departure from the typical play it safe new world stuff. Having spoken with the manager he is enthusiastic and I would also say motivated to bring a bit of energy to SQ high street. We look forward to returning for Sunday roast & the idea of vinyl collections in the upstairs area is both novel & appealing. Great work. Ps: price was fair & our server made us aware of service charges on the bill & only too happy to remove it. We didn’t remove it , our meal was worth every penny & I wish them all the best.

We had a delicious lunch yesterday 6/01/24. We decided on the spur of the moment to have the morning out and we tried other establishments in S.Q. Only to be turned away because we hadn’t booked. The Boat House welcomed us in even though we had not booked. The staff were very friendly and helpful as I have a dietary requirement, we would highly recommend this lovely restaurant. The views over the forth are breathtaking. Thank you all that work there.

Brilliant choice for seafood lovers but lots of choice for those that prefer other things. The scallops were delicious. The service was attentive but inobtrusive and we were able to enjoy our meal and further drinks over the afternoon. Fantastic setting with the views of the bridges, lovely decor, warm and comfy. Look forward to my next visit, much sooner than before

Our last evening in Scotland....South Queensferry.....wonderful atmosphere and superb food!!!!!!

It was an afternoon visit we made to this restaurant. It was quiet and we had a very relaxing meal. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I will recommend to friends and family, I will definitely be returning there too.

Decided to go here instead of our usual visit to Scotts as hadn’t been for a while since our last disappointing visit. Sorry to say still slightly disappointed, 4 of us visited, 2 starters of mussels which were superb and 2 starters of duck croquettes which looked more like large chicken nuggets rather than cylindrical croquettes and were not very tasty to be honest. Mains, both Place and Hake off the menu which 2 of us were looking forward to so one had the fish and chips which was ok nothing special, one had the tuna which was really good, one had the pork which again was really nice, my partner had the pasta dish with goats cheese which was so small it looked like a child’s portion and was finished within seconds and really not that good. Again for dessert 2 dishes were off the menu one being cheese and biscuits, I mean how do you run out of cheese it keeps for ages. All in all pretty average and sorry to say for someone who lives local I’ll be back at Scotts next time. Sorry, but pretty disappointed.

We visited Edingburgh but chose Dakota Hotel (just outside Edingburgh) as a place to stay overnight. We chose not to eat at the hotel's restaurant and asked some of the staff members for recommendations. It was The Boat House that caught our attention and it was the right choice. We were the first family there but understandable considering that we arrived around 4pm. Andrew did a very good job hosting us and catering for my fussy requests; I wanted so much to have scallops that I had them for starter (not on the menu) and as a main course. Because I wanted some king prawns as well they added two of them (quite big actually) to the mains in order to make my favourite fish dish, scallops & king prawns. In addition to these we had oysters (fresh, big and tasty), duck and fish & chips, all cooked wonderfully. The view was great, overlooking the bay and Forth Bridge. This is a place we will visit again for sure!

Lunch with a windowseat view of the three bridges. The staff were lovely and the food nice, although quiet expensive, as portion sizes smallish. On the day we visited the restaurant was not busy, I wonder why?, which in its self did not create much of an atmosphere.

Lovely food with great view across the Firth. My family and I stopped here on our way to Edinburgh Airport. So good to have a fine meal before spending time with bland offerings at the airport.

Popped in here for lunch. Got a window seat with stunning views of all three forth bridges. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good and wine, which was recommended by the staff, was excellent. If you are in South Queensferry I would highly recommend the Boathouse for a bite.

It markets itself as Queensferry's best kept secret and it is difficult to argue with the statement. Good food at a reasonable price.

Menu seemed like it didnt know what it was doing, pork took over all taste of the burger, cheap cheese. The bruschetta was the best thing on the menu.

This is a very nice cosy dining place with a magnificent view of the forth bridges. The food is delicious and view is spectacular. It is important to pay attention to opening hours/days though.

Excellent restaurant in a wonderful location overlooking the bridges in South Queensferry. This was out third visit and on leaving we booked to come again in December, the food, staff and atmosphere of this place is that good!

Stopped in after a cycle for some food. The waiter was very charming and helpful. However, there was this absurd rule that we couldn't have food outside because it was getting busy and so if we wanted to eat would have to go inside. This is despite everyone around us having food. It feels really stupid and arbitrary. Shame when the setting is stunning

Really nice seafood restaurant with amazing views. The food is amazing and well-portioned. The service was quite quick but slowed a bit when it got busier. I would recommend the pork belly as it was divine. They have an extensive wine list with alcohol free ciders and beers.

Menu has massively improved with so many choices that I would go for. A great range of fish or bistro dishes. Food was so tasty and really well presented. Only down side would be limited options for kids and no specific gluten free dishes. While the offer of possible adaptions was there, had limited confidence in what might result. Staff were very attentive throughout meal. Could do with some background music as there is limited atmosphere. One massive plus is a great view of the rail bridge.

Amazing seafood and more of you are not partial to fruits free la mer. Friendly and great service, will be back.

What an outstanding meal! Ate here tonight with a friend and we both had the cajun spiced salmon on a shrimp and pea risotto, a side of garlic bread , and then panna cotta and the brownie for dessert. The mains were absolutely divine, cooked to perfection and lovely flavours. Desserts also delicious. As driving we had soft drinks. The service was very good too, really nice cheerful girl. Will defo return!

Lovely restaurant in South Queensferry with wonderful food and service in a great setting.

For a wee while now I have wanted to visit the Boat House but never had the chance so luckily for us we had some time. It was Wednesday and it just opened. We had two latte's first,then I had the fish and chips and my wife had the brushetta starter and the goats cheese starter. All our food was good and plentiful,we also had a bowl of vegetables cooked perfectly.A glass of wine was chosen for my wife Which she adored. Staff were very friendly and professional. Toilet's we're clean and modern. The views are fantastic and you would expect this to reflect in the price but obviously not. Highly recommend this place.👍

There are two of us and we arrived at 3pm. They asked us if we had a reservation, we said no and having tables with a view, they put us in one where only one of us could see a little of the bridge. There were 3 free tables for 4 people and another table for 4 occupied by two people. After us, only one couple came in and were seated at a table for 4, but I'm sure they had a reservation ;-). It is 15:50 and we are only the couple that arrived behind us. Little attention to detail. The food was good.

Outstanding cookery and professional presentation. On our travels around Scotland this has been the stand out restaurant. Inches away from a coveted star. Improve your cutlery presentation and you’re nearly there. Attentive service from your staff makes our visit special.

What an amazing night to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. The food, service and the staff was fantastic. Private dining for 18 family and friends, what more can you ask for. Love this hidden gem in SQ, can't speak highly enough of tge quality of the food, decor and the amazing views.

We had always wanted to try this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. We had the brushetta and oysters between 3 to start. Mains were Langustines, chicken and salad. All were packed with flavour and no.one was disappointed. Portions were generous and we left happy and full. Great views.

Prices of drinks Also seemed ok, unfortunately , there were zero vegan options so we instead of four coffees we only bought one for the no non vegan in our group. In this day and age no longer acceptable to not be offering vegan milk alternatives, even if you don do vegan food.

Not obvious on the website , but there is outside seating . Glorious day so we ate outside. Very nice staff . When my starter arrived I hadn't realise the squid was deep fried. No problem changing it . Whole lemon sole in lemon and caper butter, delicious 😋.

What a great place. Perfect spot our three bridges boat ride. The bruschetta was excellent. We demolished the lovely pate and the seafood starter was 5 star. Two rounds of drinks and a reasonable bill. The staff were extremely friendly. The views from rear garden brilliant. All together very happy travellers from Australia.

Sunday the 19th June our first time in this fantastic restaurant. The food was amazing starters, mains and cheese board the lot , delicious. Thanks to the truly lovely staff our Brazilian waitress Diane and waiter Cameron they totally made our day lots of fun great service. We loved it here and will definitely be back 💕✔️🥂

Sat at the large window, asked if we could move to the vacant table next to us, because our table was positioned too far to the right slightly obscuring the view. Was told no, despite nobody occupying it while we were there. Meal was lovely, apart from long broccoli, al dente? I think it was just dunked in hot water, because it was rock solid and left on plate - pity when you think the entire dish comprised of lemon sole, 3 small boiled potatoes cut in half with three stems of broccoli, for £26!!! Didn't care about the cost, knew that before ordering, but seriously let down, not just the the meagre portion, more on the undercooked veg. My wife had the fish curry, which she enjoyed, thankfully - it was our 17th anniversary after all, and I would have kicked off had it been otherwise for her. Was there a few years ago and it was perfect, wee shame now. Won't be back
