Not just about the Harvester but the service station as a whole, what a poor place to visit, the toilets looked like some had cleaned their football boots in them all, the place was disorganised, only good for 2 hours free parking to then pick family up from East Midlands.

One member of staff on a Friday night- chaos! Salad bar was completed depleted Food took a while to arrive and everything was over done (chips/chicken/sweetcorn) Restaurant needed cleaning

Stayed at travel lodge East Midlands for one night (which was lovely) the only mistake we made was to have a meal at the Harvester which is adjoined to the hotel I ordered scampi & chips it was rock hard & when cutting into it the piece of scampi was about as big as my finger nail my husband had fish & chips that was nearly all batter hardly any fish at all we just left most of it. I suppose it was my fault really we should have complained needless to say we won’t be going back

It is so nice to find a service station in UK serving freshly cooked hot meals. Normally the choice is a burger or fish and chips if you're lucky. So I was pleasantly surprised to be able to order a decent meal with free unlimited salad at the Harvester restaurant here. The service was friendly, tables clean & good choice of hotfood. Usually if I'm on the motorway in UK and want a quick dinner the choice is only junk food unlike some of the excellent services in Europe. So well done Harvester!

Disappointed. Went out for a meal at 7pm. No rotisserie available so the menu was greatly reduced. We then went to the salad bar which was almost empty apart from tomatoes cucumber and onion.No bread available at all. Normally we have had a good experience at this venue.

Called in on a coach trip back to Nottingham. We ordered our meal but found time was running out. We asked if they could make it a takeaway. The lovely lady on duty went out of her way and sorted the meal for us with seconds to spare to get back to the coach. She was our lifesaver

Situated within the Moto services, the salad bar was poor, you get a free salad with a main meal or you can pay 4:95 for the salad by itself, I’d have been angry if I’d payed for the salad bar as several containers were empty, no potato salad no coleslaw and sparse, despite the waitress checking the salad bar several times she failed to replenish it. Meal was good but salad bar poor.

Stopped here on a journey, why else would you be at a Motorway services..? The general ambience of the Harvester was good the staff friendly and polite. The eating areas were clean. Unfortunately that’s where the good bits stop. We both had the original combo, the ribs were decent but the chicken and corn on the cob both tasted dry and overcooked. The amount of gravy given in the jug to pour was extremely limited in quantity and got easily soaked up by the chips. I didn’t complain at the time as I was tired and fed up after the awful Friday afternoon traffic that meant it had taken three hours to travel ninety miles.

I frequently stop for breakfast at the Harvester Donington Park. For me, it’s the best motorway service station on the M1. The staff are always welcoming & friendly & the poached eggs on toast & coffee make a very good start to my day.

Dried out over cooked food and grumpy staff. Not much more to add really! I should have gone to Greggs...

Regularly use this restaurant when staying in the hotel on site after a long day. Good unlimited salad bar but food can be hit and miss. Steaks very poor however burgers good and nice chips! Menu could do with a refresh and very tired

The usual quality you expect from a Harvester. The food tasted good, the salad bar was one of the nicest in terms of presentation I've ever seen. The staff were nice and friendly so it's a thumbs up from me. I wouldn't hesitate on returning in the future.

Visited this Harvester and although Harvester advertise kids eat for £1 it doesn't apply to this franchise. The so called FREE salad bar had run out of several of the dishes but they didn't tell you that before you paid. The steak tasted like liver and when we ordered ice cream... Guess what!!! They had run out of that as well. Finally ordered a coffee and was told sorry the machine isn't working. As an older person I have a small appetite , was also not allowed to purchase a child's meal because I was over 12 so was forced to pay £14 for something I could inky eat a third if. Never agai .

I have been a couple of times to this Harvester. I chose the Chicken salad and a J20 apple and mango. Order taken pleasantly, food served to the table, excellent quality. Free salad and Soft drinks bar. What's not to like ?

peter and i stayed at the Premier inn at east midlands so that we can get up earlier in the morning to go on holiday to La Gomera. so we had a great meal at the harvester and Abigail was fantastic looking after us and serving the meal .

We were staying nearby and rather than drive further to a normal restaurant decided to give the services branch a try. It does feel like your just sat in the services (you are!) rather than a restaurant. Salad bar as good as a normal harvester though and so was the food. Just the experience let it down a little. Not cheap for food to sit at the services, especially with a Greggs next door!! Ice cream machine wasn’t working. Service was friendly though and staff worked hard keeping the salad bar topped up and cleaning tables etc.

We are fans of the HARVESTER chain of restaurants. This one is OK but not the best, probably because of its setting in a food court with limited space.

Understaffed which meant tables were dirty, food was edible but not great, staff were trying but there was not enough of them, and one commented they had worked a night shift the previous night, were in early in the morning the day we were there and stayed on to help (it was 8pm) clearly exhausted didn’t want to bother them with issues with the meal so left most of it

Visited on 15th August and they was out of several items like Rottiserie Chicken,Apple Juice, 2 Sundaes not available.

We only had drinks here but what was noticeable was how friendly and helpful the staff were. Excellent.

There isn't much to recommend about the services at Castle Donington. It is difficult to find because of the wretched signage from the M1. But at least you can get a decent coffee at Costa and sandwiches from the M&S; outlet.

My husband and I called into the restaurant in a panic with our 4 year old little boy, who was having an asthmatic flare up. We have no inhalers for him anymore as our doctor said he'd seemingly grown out of it.. however after 2 hours of being in the car coughing, he began to show familiar signs of struggling. We called into services looking for a first aider, and sadly there was nobody to be found! I saw a lady working at the counter of harvester and asked if she could help us find someone to help. Immediately she told me she had the inhaler we were looking for and we were welcome to use it. Obviously we said yes please and after a few minutes of accepting it, our little boy was 90% back to his normal self. We were so close to ringing and ambulance, but thanks to this lovely, kind lady we were able to get back on the road to get back home and see our out of hours doctor.

Vegan options are usually bland and boring but the vegan aubergine and lentil tagine, served with hummus, a flatbread and salad, was really tasty and filling. It's not fine dining, but this was a lot better than I've had in much fancier places, so I want to congratulate Harvester on incorporating real options for vegans on their menu. I think my husband was jealous!!

Surprising to see a harvester at a services. Good quality food, served breakfast until late (we got there about 11:15). Service wasnt all that - didnt get any cutlery, but the food iteslf was fairly good. Refreshing change from mcdonalds and other services you usually see!

We usually stop here for journey break when en-route south to north (and vice versa) as it is quieter than the MSAs right on the motorways and has plenty of room to stretch legs and take the dog for a countryside walk.

Was served at the harvester by emma and ashleigh. 2 fantastic members of staff who were expectional in their service. Friendly throughout... With a smile.. These girls showed to be an asset to the company with amazing banter and deserve promotion opportunity's as they really did make our visit an enjoyable one

We visited the Harvester Restaurant at Moto Services Donnington prior to departing from East Midlands Airport. The intention was to take advantage of their Unlimited Cooked & Continental breakfast as advertised on the Harvester website. On arrival I was informed that the menu did not include this so we settled for a breakfast that we could have had for half the price at another location we passed earlier that day. I immediately sent an e-mail from my I-phone whilst consuming the breakfast which was well cooked but in my my extortionate in price, over £20 for a small and large cooked breakfast plus tea and coffee. I had to send 3 further e- mails and another to the Harvester help desk prior to getting a response which informed me that Moto Services do not partake in this particular offer and that Harvester state that some menus differ at certain locations. I responded with the website page that I have included in my attached photo and request that Tripadvisor users make their own mind up as to what they would believe was on offer having consulted the website. I have not had any further response and referred the matter to Trading Standards.

Visitamos la cosechadora esta mañana. . . Yo estaba absolutamente indignado de que cobran 99 p para uno sí una rebanada de pan tostado! Me esperaba dos. . Yo estaba completamente. obviamente mal esperar esto. Nunca he estado en ningún lugar donde. he estado sirve a una porción. . teniendo en mente puedes conseguir un todo por menos de 99 céntimos. ! ! Al principio de mi desayuno (que en realidad era anunciado por £2. 99 pero había un error en el menú, así que era de £6. 99 - claramente este restaurante no es muy exigente con propaganda falsa) estaba helada. Excepto el hash browns. Me enviaron de vuelta, que parecía un inconveniente a la camarera pero completo juego justo el chef me hicieron una nueva y en realidad era caliente!

Friendly helpful service the only redeeming feature, the breakfast was overcooked and must have been under heat lamps for ages, the only fresh bit was a fried egg which was undercooked and jellish. Fruit juice thick bitter and unpleasant, however the Kellogg's cornflakes were perfect...

Visitamos Harvester para el desayuno, el desayuno no estaba incluido en nuestro hotel en Nottingham. Fue muy acogedor. Comida llegó muy rápidamente y era justo lo que se puede esperar. Las mesas estaban limpias y menú tenía todo lo que se puede esperar. Mi marido tenía el desayuno completo y yo teníamos un tocino bap. Ambos muy sabroso.

Needed breakfast at 8am and was staying as a member of captive diners at the Travelodge. So was one of the first customers and it showed in a cold breakfast. Normally in a fast food place I would have got a refund and left but today I needed feeding so let them have another go.This time it was hot. Unfortunately the staff can't do anything about the total lack of taste. Two staff apologised for the lack of temperature control and showed true concern.. So they recovered one star.My recommendation is to avoid if possible, and, if not, lower your expectations to previously zero. You will not be disappointed.

I have visited the branch of Harvester several times and have always found the place very clean and tidy, the staff are good and helpful and the food is better the the other crap you get at motorway services.

Stopped off after a long drive and had a meal with a colleague. Average is all I will say, service was fine but food was very bland which is not the usual harvester standard. The food was cooked fine just tasteless which is a shame.

I have been to a few harvesters and this is much below their normal standard. With it being in a service station I should maybe not be too harsh, but really this wasn't great. We had the breakfast which had undercooked floppy bacon and some of the worse scrambled eggs I ever had - rubbery and cold (must have been cooked a while ago and for far too long). Don't order the unlimited coffee, it is horrible and one small cup is more than enough. On the plus side the sausages and potatoes were nice and service fine. Not many options available at this services but would advise you try another, at least for breakfast anyway.

Stopped for a break from a long drive and were quickly served via a very efficient system. Had soft drinks which were on draught and which you could refil yourself which were actually very good. A very annoying problem with the service station lights coming on then going off was rather irritating but the salad starter/side order which is free with every meal was fine and a good way to pass time until the mains arrived. We both had half a chicken one with chips which were cold and a little undercooked and the other with mash which was also cold and a bit too stiff. We had gravy on one and bbq sauce on the other which was very tart. Chicken was also very dry. All in all very average food but as good as you get at any service station and all for a reasonable prce

I was staying in a local hotel and popped over to the services and decided to eat here. The lady who served me was lovely. I forgot to pick my beer up and she brought it over to my table. Salad bar was fresh and well stocked. I ordered the chicken fajita wraps, this came with chips. the chips were very nice, the wrap could've been a little warmer but was very nice, especially for £4.99. large menu with special deals, and the best thing, prices don't seem to be massively inflated as they normally are in a service station.

I have visited these services on many occasion and I thought it was about time I wrote a review. As a lorry driver we are normally treated with contempt, however at this restaurant we are always greeted with a smile from a friendly face. The food is of a very good standard and value for money is great especially for the meal deal. Endless salad and drinks!!!! :)Always spotless and clean and service is of a very good standard. Special thanks go to Claire the supervisor for finding me a seat on a very busy day, will definitely visit again and again

Bit surprised to find a Harvester in a service station but can say that the whole experience was good.Not as crowded as our local Harvester which was great. Walked straight to a table, picked our food then went to the counter to order.Food good, service good and we can definitely recommend.Give it a try, a lot better than the FF outlets. Went the night before jhetting off from EMA to sunnier climates.Note - please read our Raddison Blu review.

Visited 9pm on a Friday evening.... Was a little messy, but the staff cleared and cleaned a table for us. Great meal deal for 9.99, and the usual great standard if good served by this chain.... It closed at 10pm, so felt a little in the way when we asked for the dessert, but that was just how I felt, and not a reflection on the staff here. Would we visit again? yEs!

Went in at 7 am today. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. Ordered 3 simple breakfasts all were great. My husband spilt coffee over mine but the waitress replaced this free of charge. I just need to apologise yo her, again for being so crabby- we've been driving since 3a.am with our 4 children. So, sorry miss waitress, you were nothing but polite and friendly. Thank you- have a good day. You've helped us on our way !!

I was actually quite shocked to see a Harvester in a service station so quickly changed my mind from eating a Burger King.The service was good, and the food was tasty, my only complaint and it was not even Harvester's fault was that it was very cold in the hall so had to put on my coat. Sadly, they'd ran out of ice cream so couldn't get my usual Sundae, but overall not bad.Also, a tip for people, if you have AA membership, just show your card and you'll get a 20% discount.This visit was on Sunday 3rd November.

Good value dinner, service slow but overall wouldn't complain. You pay a reasonable money for a reasonable service. Don't quite understand some of these reviews as my experience was good.

I waited to be seated, along with two other customers. We waited for, in my view, far too long. One customer behind me walked away, and I was very tempted to do the same. The staff that were working, were very busy, despite the restaurant only being a third full. When I finally got a table, the waiter was very polite, & apologised for the delay. The food was good, & fairly priced, however the salad bar was very depleted, possibly due to lack of staff. One or two more team members would have made a massive difference.

I have visited Harvesters in excess of 40 times across 5 diffrents branches. Unfortunately it's the same in them all. The food is ver good for the money. However the service is just not there. However this one at Donington Service is particularly bad. Twice in the last two weeks if used this place, couldn't find staff on either occasion. Took them 60 mins to get a grilled chicken breast out to me, not good enough. Also, worryingly, they had 10-15 empty tables and were people were turning away as they were being warned of a 45 min wait for food. Really need to sort this out, especially at a serive station. Majout staffing and training issues here!

Had the unpleasant experience of deciding not to go to Burger King at these services. I chose Harvester having had pleasant experiences elsewhere. Pretty much out of anything edible. Orders delivered incorrectly (sausage and mash with a pot of peas rather than the gravy that was supposed to be in it), limp understocked salad bar. However the most painful part of the experience was watching the manager blowing his own trumpet over and over again to other customers in the vain hope of upselling to them. This was so blatantly aimed at those who he felt had a few spare quid. We had (our polite and quiet) children with us as well which obviously didnt fit in with the masterplan and we were rushed out of the door as quickly as possible. I assume he also thought that asking for the gravy that we expected for the mash which was listed on the menu was a sin by the look on his face which was somewhere between confusion and contempt.Staff were otherwise excellent but obviously demoralised by working for the guy. Please find another manager.Never again.

We visited the harvester in the services for Breakfast on Sunday 25/8/13 the service was awful there were 4 people serving it wasn't that busy nobody seemed to know what they were doing too many were trying to do the same thing one should have been doing drinks while the others waited the tables we saw food sitting on the serving area for 15 minutes without being served to the customer we waited for nearly 20 minutes just to order a drink then another 15 minutes to order the food even though we were ready when the took the drink order the whole process took 1hr 15 minutes far too long for a quick stop on the motorway really is in need of being organised some people just got up ad left we were going to Snibston for the day so we just wanted to have a decent meal before going but if I had the choice if the Burger king had been open i would have got up and gone there instead not a very good first impression of harvesters on motorways you can only hope things will get better

Quoted 35 minutes for food, thought we would risk it. 45 mins after taking orders a waiter comes back to inform us they don't have our choice in stock. We get an incorrect order after an hour. When correct food finally arrives it was decent standard, it went wrong somewhere in-between the kitchen and front of house! My complaint was handled well by the manager but I even had to queue to complain, there were a few before me. Food good, service poor! Wouldn't go back!

Typical service station grub very uninterested service lots of loud f words coming from the manager doing his team talk to the staff about how they must manage on a skeleton staff force. All extremely unprofessional and certainly would not encourage me back. Isn't this meant to be a family brand???

The A511 was closed, hunger was starting to get the better of us so we decided to give this new Harvest a whirl. The menu has recently changed, me being a vegetarian this didn't affect me too much. We both had the unlimited refills of diet Pepsi, I had the cauliflower cheese tart (really good) and the other half the steak kebab. Obviously helped ourselves to the salad cart which tasted fresh and looked clean and tidy. Bread wasn't stale. General seating area was clean and tidy, fair few other diners. Waitress was really polite and efficient, we didn't wait long at all for our drinks or food. Ended the meal with the raspberry chocolate torte sundae which was delish. I like Harvester and this service station was of a better standard than most of the restaurants I've visted! The bill came to about £25.
