Great country pub. Excellent food, great service, delightful staff. Very thorough Covid safety measures, yet low key so as not to spoil the ambience. Good selection of Gins and beers to keep everyone happy.

I ate one evening whilst walking in The Dales. The menu was good ,the food was well-cooked and served hot. The service was friendly and efficient and there was plenty of parking. Price-wise it was exactly what you would expect from this kind of bar food establishment. A good choice.

Passed a pleasant hour or so in this nice little pub...warm and friendly, full of locals. The barman was rushed off his feet but served everyone in order (which is a rare quality). The ale was well kept. Prices were a bit ad hoc with both rounds being different prices despite the drinks being the same. It was still good value though. We didn't eat there but the restaurant looked welcoming

The place itself looked lovely, bedroom was big and looked nice. Even the view was good. The problems were the bed wasn't comfortable, food was nothing to shout about. Plus, you don't get much of a choice off the menu. The fish cakes tasted like they were off and the onion gravy was there soup of the day it was like they weren't bothered about us being there and couldn't wait to get finished as we had breakfast at 8.50 and they stopped at 9 no milk for cereal was left they cooked our breakfast and then just went. No toast was offered so was very disappointed we then herd that someone had complained about the fish saying it was iffy and didn't taste right. Probably cos the fish was off and didn't order fresh in and was trying to get rid of it to customers instead. Me and my boyfriend spent 2 nights there and I am disappointed to the fact that we both had to pay £110 each. When it really wasn't worth spending that much. We were so happy to be away from the place and back home. We will not be returning in the future.

A warm welcome from Barbara was the start of our stay on B&B basis. We stayed in the Innkeepers cottage annex which was great for us a there was private parking and security for the bikes. Breakfast next morning was being run by pleasant staff but took a bit of time to get tea and be shown self service items on a table which was out of view. Cooked breakfast was good quality and plenty of it. Breakfast next day had Barbara in attendance, atmosphere and efficiency was much improved, food was again good quality and set us for the day ahead. Overall an enjoyable stay, as someone else commented needs a little TLC to make this a 5* rating.

Table for 4 booked in the restaurant for dinner. We had asked for the Xmas menu and had emailed our individual choices through to the chef. The pub area was nicely busy and we enjoyed a drink prior to being shown through to the dining room. Most members of the party had sticky maple duck as a starter followed by roast turkey and all the trimmings. The duck was served on a bed of mixed leaves and was tender and very tasty. There was a generous portion of turkey which was served with the usual trimmings and a large crispy yorkshire pudding. A bit unusual but it was delicious and the pub is in Yorkshire after all! The mains were followed by a good selection of puds and finished off with mince pies and coffee. All this for £15.95. What a bargain! The service was slick and the landlady was constantly on hand to make sure everyone was happy. We certainly were.

I wish I'd known about Trip Advisor when I went here hoping to have dinner. Rural Yorkshire of course, maybe they didn't like the look of my companion. We stood at the entrance to the restaurant for 10 minutes while waiters and waitresses passed by completely ignoring us. Finally we left, disgusted.

Came to the Yorkshire Dales to see Malham Cove (which is unbelievably beautiful), and hadn't booked anything. This was the only place available but it was very English and fitting for where we were. The building is very pretty, and the food at the pub is really, really good, especially considering where this place is. I'm giving the Inn a 4 because the food overcame the room, which was really funky and okay because we were only staying one night, but I wouldn't stay any longer. The other thing I would say is that the service was not remarkable; we were waiting what must have been 30 minutes for our main meal to arrive, but it was delicious. Not a bad place, but I would look at other options first.

We've been to this pub quite a few times, as a friend of ours lives nearby. It's a real locals' pub and there certainly are some characters that drink there! Always a lovely friendly welcome from Barbara and her crew, and a good selection of well-kept real ales, mostly local. It is very traditional inside, and has an extensive menu - nothing radical, but decent, hearty, honest food. A gem of a place.

I drink there regularly ! It's a cheerful friendly pub, with a good local clientel as well as visitors. They keep a good range of real ales, including some that are locally brewed, and keep them well.I've eaten there occasionally, both in the bar and in the restaurant. The menu offers a good range of typical 'pub food', with a few unusual offerings too, including several vegetarian options, and is well cooked, and cheerfully served. There's some outdoor seating, and a small children's play area, at the back, with a good view. It's a great place to sit and watch the sunset on a warm evening (which has happened twice in 2012 !)

Based on the recommendations we had read on this site we decided to visit the Harts Head whilst on holiday in Settle. We were encouraged by the wide range of choice of real ale and were not disappointed with those that we sampled. However, the food was distinctly below average. Both our meals were over cooked to the extent that the Salmon had crackling on the top! We may have been unlucky and visited when the chef was having a poor night, but based on our experience we will not be returning to eat again.

We ate here for three nights while on a Ramblers walking weekend. Despite the fact that there were 19 of us, the staff managed to serve all our food at pretty much the same time and were pleasant and efficient. There is an extensive menu with some more unusual dishes and the food was excellent. The place was very busy apart from our party and my husband was full of praise for the bar staff who ensured that no-one had to wait too long to be served. Would definitely go again.

Food was above average but the ambience was just awful topped out by Christmas songs being played in late March. The waitress didn't seem too interested and just said it was part of a stndard playlist!Gave a feel of shabby and in need of some serious money, they should be grateful for the captive hotel trade.

We have been to the Harts Head Inn on many occasions and always get a warm welcome from the owners (Trevor and Barbara) and also the courtious staff.   The bedrooms are warm and cosy and are constantly being updated to meet guests comfort.   The food is also very good with a comprehensive menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner complimented by a substantial wine list.   This is a hotel I have pleasure in reccomending to both family and friends.
