Under new management,could be a great pub,has potential,get some real ales,after all it's a Marstons pub and they brew some good beer,good selection of wine,hope it does well.Nice management couple talking over.I wish them all the best for the future.

Craig on his first weekend with Hartleys was a superb host. The pub has a lovely atmosphere but will definitely benefit from the plans of the new landlord and I wish him every success with his new venture for thr future.

I came here for an open mic night and the atmosphere was incredible, couldn’t fault it. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming to me and all my friends!!!! The entertainment was so amazing with such talented performers. Emily and Gareth, are some of the best bar staff!!! They was extremely helpful always ensuring I was catered for and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience, will definitely be visiting again!!!!!!

My first visit with my mate and we arrived at 12:30 PM and stayed until 7.30 PM. Excellent ale, wonderful service, the choice of background music was perfect and the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat on, I just didn't want to leave the place! Nice small garden area for us smokers was an added bonus. Very friendly fellow customers too. Highly recommend Hartley's, defo going back again and again and again.

I have been an on off customer for a few years now, but stopped coming about 9 months ago I came in and the people that were running it were horrible and nasty. Noticed on the Facebook page that it is now under new management, popped in on Saturday 27th April and the place was busy and the atmosphere was great, place was clean and the new landlord was very polite and informative of what offers he had on and what his plans were for the place in the near future. Looking forward to the kitchen being reopened and future upcoming events and offers. You have just won yourself another customer back. Cheers to the team at Hartleys

Been in with a group friends lovely atmosphere and the new landlord was very helpful defo recommended this pub to anyone we will definitely be back in on our next girls night out

Visited this bar at the weekend with reservations as I have seen some negative comments recently on their Facebook page from the owner and staff to potential customers who may visit the bar , not great marketing as the comments don’t exactly entice you to want to visit and they give a list of rules to customers and call out that staff work 12 hours ! This used to be one of the best bars in Preston with a lovely ambience, little candles and great music however I believe there are now new owners who have changed all that with an extra dose of rudeness on top ! I have seen them call last orders early then bark at people to drink up and if they don’t hurry up with their drink it will be poured down the sink , this is at 10.30pm ! When challenged they tell you they don’t care what you think and it’s their bar so will do what they want ! What a way to run a business. I left the bar as I felt forced out in disgust. I can only hope that someone else will take over this lovely bar in the future and only if that happens will we return .

Called in with friends for a drink Saturday night around 10pm. Bar was empty apart from handful young people. 22 40 last orders called. 22 50 rude guy who presume landlord sat at bar, shouted if not drunk up, drinks being poured down the sink. A few other unpleasantries were exchanged from him so one of my friends took her drink to bar and said, pour down the sink not surprised bar empty! Although drinks have always been expensive ,this used to be such a lovely , busy, and friendly bar.Not any more. Wont be going again Shame..

Most expensive drinks in Preston. Music far to loud. Just no atmosphere worth paying extra for drinks. Probably won’t go again but hey-ho.

Went out for a little shopping trip with my friends and stumbled upon this little hidden gem of a pub. Staff are really friendly and nothing was to much of an ask for them. Food was amazing and it was really quick service 😋

Me and a group of our friends went to Preston for the day, we was passing by and thought we would drop in and give it a try. Staff was very welcoming, the place was nice and clean. Will definitely be going back.

Found this by accident but my im glad we did. Very friendly staff and beautiful food, freshly made and piping hot. Would highly reccomend for both food and drink ill definately be back next time im here. Well done guys

Found this by accident down a little downstreet, went in fantastic staff ,decided to order food glad I did enjoyed it ,first time to preston and glad I found this spot .even a beer garden

Called in whilst on a business trip in Preston, stumbled upon Hartleys by chance and so glad I did! Great range of beers available, I opted for a Large Wine - superb value! Thank you, Rich, for the recommendation! Lovely, friendly service when at the bar! New food menu coming soon, so I'll definitely pop back in when I'm next local!

Ordered a pint of Neck Oil which tasted like line cleaner. Took it back to the bar tender who seemed like the owner and was told it tastes fine as it is a new barrell and we've sold 15 pints today. Obviously I drank it however customer service skills=0. Fingers crossed no adverse effects 🤞 To reply to your comment I have had probably over 100 pints of Neck Oil as is the reason why I ordered it. I wasn't going to return it however after my friends tried it and thought the same I felt I should, especially considering the price at £5.80. To be honest I wouldn't have left a review had you not been so dismissive and abrupt however I think future customers should be made of aware of the service they may receive. In response to your second reply, the issue in question is not the pint of Neck oil but more so the manner in which you dealt with the situation. Continuing to adopt a confrontational approach further demonstrates a lack of customer service skills as far as I'm concerned.

Went in today first time in years had our dog skye with us asked the barman were we OK to sit outside with the dog he was so friendly and told us we could sit anywhere sat outside with syke and he brought some water for her very enjoyable visit would definitely return

I do not usually write reviews, but on this occasion I felt it my responsobillity to put things streight, I went to Hartleys for the first time with three other relatives, we were given a really warm welcome buy Steve, who we found out later, is the new manager, he had only been there a couple of days, and seemed to be a great host, we had a great time. After a while his parner came down, as it got really busy, they both served, and couldn't do enough to make everybody in the bar welcome. I do not live in Preston but the next time I visit I will be making Hartleys one of th first places I visit, good luck Steve and Richard

What a change. There was hardly anyone in and the 2 guys who appeared to be running the place were sat at the end of the bar drinking pints. As we were sat having our drink a few more people came in and it seemed to be an effort to get up off the bar stool and serve them. There was also 3 girls came in and just went to use the toilet. On their way out one of the guys shouted you could at least buy a drink. Disappointed in how it seemed to have changed so quickly. Also the music playing was rubbish. Hartleys has been known for soul and Motown for many years so yet another thing has changed.

Great place to meet. Love the decor and history. Music volume too low though, prices way too high. Will go once a month

Nice place, staff are better than what i remembered. The lady and gentleman behind the bar, keep a keen eye and have a knack of upselling without being pushy. Worth a look for a little bit of calm in the middle of the day in Preston.

Went last Saturday, 20.30....no music! In hartleys on a Saturday night, no mood lighting. Was a completely different place, the atmosphere has changed so much. Would usually be packed but was very quiet.

Apparently under new management. Used to Have a great atmosphere but this clearly moved out with the old staff. Cold inside the pub with no heating. Ran out of some stock. Looking really tired. What a shame. Can see this old favourite going under with this management and staff.

Very good pint of Coors. I use to come here 50 years ago when it was called the Odd fellows and I enjoyed it then and enjoyed it today, but the changes from then up to now are massive.

Shame they shut at 11 rather than 2 till 4 as advised

Atmosphere isn’t the best, but the staff are nice and can’t fault the drinks. Decent outdoor space too when it’s nice out

I've always liked this place. Yes it is a bit on the expensive side but it makes up for it with plenty of character. Don't expect brand but the choice of ales available is very good. Outdoor seating at the front under the covered deco style (probably wrong) veranda, and at the rear in the well appointed beer garden. There is also a separate lounge bar available for private hire. If there is one minor complaint it would be that the toilets are upstairs but that can't be helped. Definitely worth a visit

It's a great traditional pub, not many of them left we've been going to this pub for the last 10 years. The staff are very helpful and friendly a real credit to such a great bar

The warmest bar, in customers and especially in staff, that you could ever wish for. I spent many nights here and the staff became friends, a beautiful port of call whether it’s the start of your night or the end! Can’t wait to visit again in the future x

Not very good. It's also not a wine bar anymore and only had a bottle of Hardy's white red and rose. Not worth the time and effort it. I would suggest going somewhere else

We called in this place Monday afternoon quite but a nice place to try first before it gets busy.

A proper old style pub and an old favourite of mine and a pub I always frequent when in Preston.

Hartleys has managed to retain the feel of bars from yest-a-year but without being dated. It attracts a good mix of age groups and is popular without being over crowded.

A shadow of its former self. Nowhere near as good as it used to be back in the day
