Hartfields in Wealden

Too busy on a Saturday for me. They said for me to sit at a certain table and they would be back. They didn't come back. I eventually picked up my order from the counter. Time was pressing for me in the end. Good food though.

Great food and lovely staff, perfect for a coffee and catch up with friends.

Hadn’t been for a while but it’s nice to see that the food and service have remained of a high standard. Prices are a little high but you really do get the high standard you pay for.

This restaurant is amazing, the staff are professional yet friendly & inviting. I am a regular with family & friends. The best place in Uckfield by far..❤️

First visit to this lovely place! Plenty of tables, varied menu, beautifully presented fayre, friendly servers . This is also very centrally located. Definition recommend.

Really nice place for breakfast! Dog friendly which is always a plus. Food was delicious and the girls working there were really lovely. Only downside is that it is a bit on the expensive side.

We visited one Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately no drinks for toddlers just pure apple juice which even for me was too sweet. 2 lattes but the tables outside were so wobbly I think we lost most of our coffee out there.

On a very sunny Friday, after a back cracking trip to the chiropractor my friend and I decided to sit outside, have a coffee and watch the world go by. I had pecan tart and my friend had a slice of cake. Well the service was second to none, the pecan tart was the most delicious I've ever tasted. Atmosphere was lovely outside and with the sun shining it was like being on holiday.

First time here but we'll certainly drop back. Good coffee, varied menu and it had a nice buzz to it. There was plenty of room for prams and babies. I had a latte and bacon roll which were great.

Ordered breakfast plus drinks but waited fifteen minutes for our drinks and another ten minutes for breakfast our toast was white not granary but didn’t complain as we had waited so long to be served. Much too long to wait.

I had a delicious vegetarian breakfast. It was a busy lunchtime but we didn't have to wait long. The waitress was lovely.

Good menu, food average to good. Coffee average. Atmosphere/cleanliness good to excellent. Excellent location and so much potential. Expect long wait times at non-peak hours. Expect extremely long wait times at peak hours. Food usually luke warm by the time it eventually reaches your table. Will need to up its game though as the cafe/coffee market seems to be becoming ever more saturated in Uckfield.

All good, popular with plenty of seating, good food, hot toasties or cakes etc., and the full range of tasty coffee on offer, tho I had a tasty smoothy for a change

I absolutely love Pooh Corner! I've been coming here with my grandson for a few years. I really don't understand the few poor reviews, particularly from people who moan about it being dog friendly after all it's a cafe in the countryside, surrounded by wonderful walks. The food is lovely, especially the scones, the best anywhere. The staff are fab, especially the amazing Kirstie. Don't listen to the ungracious moaners, try this lovely place for yourself!

This is mine and my husbands go to place, I always have pancakes with a latte and he always has the English breakfast with a tea. We come from Southborough, but are very pleased to drive 40 minutes for it 😋 the only downful is it does get very busy and loud, but I feel that's expected for such tasty food, the staff manage really well woth the amount of custom they get, always pleasant and happy to be around too!

Food delicious had soup,cumin,cauliflower and chickpea so yummy, staff to friendly and attentive

I had the Standard Full English and it was lovely, I believe it's all localish produce and homemade beans which were very nice, crackling on the bacon was honestly perfect, haven't seen that anywhere since forever! I then had the Raspberry Ripple Brownie (heated up), with a scoop of ice cream which again was spot on! Decor and seating was nice and comfortable, with the table chairs having a slight backwards lean on the splats for comfy resting after the meal! Service was perfect, friendly and when asking for things like if I could have some honey instead of Sugar for my pot of tea (Also a nice brand of tea bags, so also pot on 👍🏻) they were happy to do so which was nice. If you haven't been here, I reccomend it thoroughly and will be visiting again soon! 👍🏻 Sadly I only have a picture of the brownie, but it is yummy!

Lovely town, stopped here before going to a local soft play centre. Delicious breakfast, friendly staff and great coffee. The cakes looked amazing, will be back for an afternoon tea sometime soon! It was quite pricey compared to some places, but you get what you pay for!

third time at this cafe and the last first time had full breakfast and coffee over priced and below average breakfast 2nd time just had coffee which was lukewarm and bitter 3rd time choose first class breakfast which was one sausage one over cooked and dry piece of bacon few dry over cooked mushrooms choose poached egg unfortunately which turned out to be one hard boiled egg on a piece of toast wish I had taken a photo of this sad meal the coffee again was lukewarm and bitter my partner went for pancake and ice cream which was just as disappointing spent over 30 pounds and left hungry and dissatisfied therefore never again 😪

We had eggs benedict and a burger. It was ok. The desserts (cookie & plum tart) were delicious. Coffee - nothing special. We waited for quite a long time for our lunch.

We are a local couple who like to support local business, but not again here. Came in early for a breakfast had a busy week so was looking forward to it before going shopping. Took a while to be acknowledged eventually a young man came over, lots of table had reserved on but got a two in the window, it was a shocking wet day so didn’t start of very well as they allow dogs in, wet dogs letting off a smell really doesn’t wet your appetite to start with. Do they really need to allow dogs!!! Ordered coffee and Mexican eggS even tho only one egg and a side off bacon. Poached egg on toast with smashed avocado, the coffee came and we finished this no offer of another the wait was around 40 mins. Once it came still no offer off another hot drink, Mexican Egg was ok, nothing to shout home about, my eggs were raw and full off water so the piece of toast was soggy, we waited and kept looking around for members of staff to do a check back,in the end I had to approach the counter where 4 members of staff were just standing around, I asked the same male to come over so that I didn’t have to say it in front off the other customers, showed him my breakfast and his comment was oh sorry don’t know why that’s happened, I asked him to take this off our bill, as I couldn’t wait another length of time to wait for another breakfast. Can’t cook poached eggs then I suggest you either close your doors or train your cooks again, also do we really need to see bare flesh on all your servers really not a nice look, maybe staff should be in uniform with backs and midriffs out of sight. Sorry will not return Coffee Barn much better also your prices are over the top

Fantastic experience. Great service, delicious food, enough choice but not too much. Went on a very busy day and they kept me informed how quick the food would be, and they were spot on. Lovely local apple juice too. 👌

Busy when we went. Long wait due to serving out of order. Shame I have always enjoyed going there.

We braved trying the "fluffy"pancakes in the hope they had realised how awful they are and reverted to a normal American pancake recipe. We were disappointed. They are still solid, Victoria sponge like, pancakes and not light and fluffy at all and taste horrible. My 11 year old gannet refused to eat them. Even the chocolate sauce was disgusting, it had a film of oil on top of the jug and fell out in one lump. When I mentioned to the waitress she said they are fluffy American pancakes, when I said there is nothing fluffy or American about them, she said I know they aren't nice!

We had sausage sandwiches, coffee and a side of a bowl of chips.The bill arrived...chips had gone up fromc£3.50 to £6.50!!!!!!!!86% increase On querying this rip off the waitress verbally wriggled talking of 2 portions(we had ONE,double £3.50 is £7.00 anyway not £6.50!!!!!(!! Then went away again,came back talking of us not having 'meal deals What meal deal,nothing on menu except a £4.20 ,no £6.50!!!? What is this establishment trying to do? This is totally unacceptable We will not be returning...no apology from management A disgrace,does not deserve patronage

Food tastes good but prices have got extreme for what you get, rather small (15cm/6 inch) chicken bacon and avocado panini cost £9.

Nice place for brunch and coffee. It was busy when we visited, on a sunny October Sunday morning.

The food here is delicious and it’s nicely located central to Uckfield with parking easily accessible. We’ve eaten here many times used to be once a week but now once a month if that due to the price increases. I appreciate the cost of ingredients have increased but Hartfields prices have significantly and aren’t so reasonable if you’re here for a meal. Cake and coffee is great value but meals or brunch no longer. Staff however are always friendly and really accommodating. Child friendly with ground floor baby change facilities. Just a shame about pricing as it seems to always be the received feedback when Hartfields is suggested to eat so we now go elsewhere unfortunately. Just isn’t affordable for bite to eat.

The only nice eating place in Uckfield. Great food made with good ingredients! More varied vegan specials would be very welcomed as it gets bit boring after while!😘🧚‍♂️

Normally we have had very good value for our meals at whatever time but this time was different We ordered the special of Stuffed mushrooms which was £9.90 When it arrived I questioned the waitress as it was a small salad with a great deal of balsamic vinegar all over and asked if this was the special In the middle was ONE tiny portabello mushroom with tiny amount of cheese on I honestly was shocked as we normally have had GOOD portions Won’t be ordering that again

Waited an hour for breakfast this morning, no information given before that it would take so long. Disappointing.

Highly recommended. Sat outside with my little dog after ordering myself a drink and a cake, and a sausage for my dog. When the sausage arrived they had not only cut it up into little bitesize pieces for my Chihuahua, but had also waited for it to cool before bringing our order. They also put a bowl of water beside the table him. Honestly, I don't think my dog has ever been treated so well anywhere before. Top marks!

Excellent brunch with very friendly service, food and drinks served hot which was good, very pleasant place with a good atmosphere, highly recommended, will be back in the future.

Came today for tea and take server bought thetcake and said I will g and get your tea after finishing my tcake still no tea my friend went back inside to ask where the tea was he noticed it was on the counter with 2 staff stood next to the tea the person who served us said oh I did say I was getting your tea and smiled no apology he then bought the tea outside itseems as in the previous review the service has gone downhill

Now I always give a constructive and fair review when dining out as I think it’s important to make business’ aware of where they’ve done well and where there needs to be improvement. We weren’t booked in (not that this should make any difference) and found a table outside, several waiting staff walked back and forth outside until we eventually asked to see menus. We ordered a mixture of coffees and food, breakfast items, and paninis. The coffees came fairly promptly and were very good, as was the smoothie. The food took a long time to come out, as if we had been a little bit forgotten about. But eventually arrived unfortunately in two parts, with mine arriving last and the servers disappearing we were unable to feedback at the time. I waited for a check back which didn’t materialise either, which is a shame as there was about 5 or 6 staff behind the till and only a couple looking after tables. Which left the little important bits missed. We had to then clear our own coffees from the table and weren’t offered any more. It would appear there’s no service outside. Which isn’t an issue but explaining this would make life easier. The food had obviously been sat for a while before it came out as the toast was hard and apart from the microwaved beans everything was cold. Also left the stalks on the tomatoes? And a fairly small portion all together in all fairness. Others enjoyed their food at the table and gave good feedback. However with the lack of service and cold food I could only award an average unfortunately. I’ll probably stick to the coffee barn in future, for around the same sort of price much better service. Made to feel a lot more welcome and looked after when you sit outside!

An update since my last review. Coffee has improved 100%. Maybe i had a bad batch before, im not sure. Service is still excellent and the food is great too. Tge wobbly tables dont seem to be an issue indoors i jave since learnt, only outside, however, there is normally always a table inside to sit at so no issue for me. Would still 100% recommend. Let me start with this, the food is great, it is, however, small things lost it a star for me, the main thing being wobbly tables! Service is good, staff are friendly, coffee for me personally could be better but they do bring in guest coffee which is a nice touch. Would recommend!

Had the pancakes, bacon, and maple syrup. Absolutely delicious. Not the cheapest place but they don't serve low quality food.

Even though we had a reservation we had to wait over an hour for our food . When it arrived it was burnt. On complaining to the waitress she couldn’t comprehend why I couldn’t wait another interminable amount of time to have them replaced as my friends had their food and would be finished. Didn’t appreciate the waitress rolling her eyes at me either. Asked to have some sort of compensation and was originally refused as I had said I didn’t want to have to wait to have food replaced. We also had to chase our original drink order & were told “we’re busy” If you can’t handle a lot of people don’t accept a reservation. An apology would have nice!!!

Order a large hot drink for more value. Chris was super helpful. Nice community vibe.

Teacake was only just warm and covered in a salty butter which I wasn't keen on. However, the staff are friendly and helpful and there's always a really lovely atmosphere.

Had my birthday breakfast here. I ordered the pancakes with blueberries,streaky bacon with maple syrup. Strangest pancakes I've ever had, more like sponge cakes, burnt & hard around the edges, & the bacon was like 2 strips of cardboard! I didn't make a fuss as this was a treat for my birthday so didn't want to upset my Husband. I saw a couple of other people who had left a lot of their 'pancakes' & bacon too. My Husband had an English Breakfast, which he said was OK but the bacon on his was hard too, he likes well cooked bacon but it was too much for him. The staff were very friendly, but the service was slow. Very expensive, for not great food, though the coffee was very good.

We requested a larger table which the maitre de accommodated. He was charming The coffee was outstanding .The sausage sandwich(brioche)was generous,well presented and very keenly priced The toilets were exceptionally well equipped as well as spotlessly clean. The waitresses were smiley,efficient and very sweet when given a generous tip.Also they were very pretty and well turned out.Some would say that is a shallow comment but I think it is important to be well dressed and as a retired deputy head(subjects maths and science )I am no light weight and these things matter. We will return to this totally successful establishment. They have got their offer absolutely correct.

Love independents, individual stamp on each one. Plus great and varied food. This one didn't disappoint either. Central situation near free parking, wide range of food choices, all appetites and needs catered for. Even the sun was out in force, rather dazzling with our table...

Very impressed with the service we received today, the whole team were friendly and welcoming of our doggie on a cold a frosty morning for breakfast. The food was of good quality and service was prompt. Not the cheapest of places but happy to pay extra for a cosy place with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Toilets were clean and pleasant to use too, which I always feel makes a difference. Plenty of gluten free and dairy free / vegan/ vegetarian options too 🤩

Busy bustling cafe in the high street. Not the cheapest but quality it good and staff are friendly and it's very clean with lots of seating indoor and out. REVISED: I’ve given Hartfields a few chances now, ignoring the slow service, the expensive menu, but today no more. Waited for 15 minutes jammed in the door with a cold breeze to be told it would probably be another ten minutes oh and the coffee machine is broken. It’s too clicky, too expensive and there are so many others options in Uckfield that deserve your patronage in a cost of living crisis. I don’t know why it’s so popular but thats half the problem. So if you’re a favoured regular, good for you, for me, I’m done, enough chances. 4 stars becomes 2 stars because the food is ok and everything else is the owners fault and not the staff.

Went in to Hartfields for the first time for breakfast. Although the place was really busy, service was great and the food exceptional. Highly recommended.

Wonderful place for good food and drinks with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Breakfast/brunch and lunch options are great, with specials changing every day. Vegan/veggie/gluten free options are worth asking about to be sure they suit you. Portions are generous but not crazy and prices are reasonable.
