Harris + Hoole in Thanet

Visited here a lot over the years but lately it has really gone downhill. Dirty tables, staff standing around chatting , ages to wait for a drink. Yesterday topped it all. The member of staff , short with glasses and greasy tied back hair had no interest in serving customers. A constant frown on her face . The coffee was awful and just a cup full of foam . As customers we felt unwanted and will most definitely not be returning. For the price they charge for a cup of coffee we would expect a smile and a clean cafe at least ...

I’m sitting here with very over priced coffee considering my experience with the staff here whilst watching how they treat other members of the public. I have to say it’s a pretty unsatisfactory experience! The area is dark and dingy with litter on the floor and tables, furniture randomly moved around and nothing looking straight or tidy Which could be understood if they were busy but the two women/girls working are not busy and are definitely not rushing around . Add to this it felt like an imposition asking for a coffee and a slice of cake and you can understand why I’m writing a negative review. I’ve been here 35 mins now and I’ve not seen a smile or any positive interaction at all. Suggest you ladies get a job in another sector SERVICE is not for you

Had a quick cuppa after my shopping. The staff very friendly and welcoming, and encouraging people to take advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Also made the atmosphere even more jolly by creating a riddle on their chalkboard, which was quickly solved. Always lovely to stop here.

Really rude staff. I have nothing positive to say about this place at all. I think the staff hate there jobs

We go in every time we do a grocery shop in Tesco. The staff are very friendly, the coffee is nice (best chai latte in town) and we like the atmosphere... you don’t feel rushed and they champion community spirit with a table for strangers to sit and chat with one another.

Having only discovered this recently.. I cannot recommend it enough. The staff are great. the coffee is the best coffee i've ever tasted.Plus the food is great also. the rewards scheme on the free app is also a good insentive to get me back.. 1 free coffee after every 6 purchases. much more rewarding than costa. Thanet's hidden gem! Keep up the great work team.

Excellent coffee for the area with good staff and service to go along with it. The prices are comparable to the quality.

Being inside Tesco you expect it to be really polished and well thought out, even down to the front of house. BUT Harris and Hooke feels like a small business owner just cashing in? The food selection is interesting and creative, however it’s in an open display case and there has been several times I’ve visited and there’s flys just chilling in amongst the food items....gross.... The staff have changed recently, which is what has prompted my review. They were always bubbly and cared about customer service, but now there is just no character, no enthusiasm, no passion, nothing - a really boring experience. And finally the cleanliness, it’s always been dirty. Tables rarely cleaned properly, crumbs on the floor and chairs. I’ve visited Harris and Hoole maybe 15 times, mainly because of the convenience of being inside Tesco, however, a 10 second drive or a 2 minute walk ad the costa nearby is a better choice.

Most Sundays we go to Tesco's and always pop in to this cafe for a nice late breakfast. The coffee is superb, and now their tea is good as well. The selection of croissants, sweet and savoury, is good, as is the cake and fruit bread. The best thing are the staff, always friendly and helpful.

Could be cleaner and doesn't help being positioned by the toilets but the coffee is good although I thought the cakes etc seemed a little over priced. If given a really good deep clean might be ok place to pop in while shopping at Tesco

Love, love, love their coffee (cappuccino). The staff are also very friendly and polite no matter what time of day you go in there. Highly recommend this place. The food is also very good and the service is quick

Had to do some shopping in Tescos..so decided to stop for coffee and snacks..hot snacks very good ..staff friendly and helpful..coffee very nice.

2nd time here...dirty tables, dirty cutlery and very over priced with just average tasting coffee. Really is nothing special. Good points, friendly staff and quite spacious to move around. I am sorry t say that is it!

I had a day to myself and after a busy tour of the shops wondered where I could go pass the time before I was due elsewhere. Despite H & H being inside a busy Tesco it doesn't feel rushed or noisy. It's quiet, laidback and pleasant. The staff are courteous and agreeable which makes any eating experience so much nicer. I'd forgotten to eat during the day, I'm the sort who eats when they're hungry and dinner was a while off. I saw this item displayed as a Hog sausage roll, I wasn't convinced it would be anything special so I added a warmed cheese scone and a packet of bizarre hoisin duck crisps. I think I have a new guilty pleasure because the hog sausage roll was incredible. It looked standard size but was so filling and the flavour - it wasn't a sausage roll - it was heaven! I could have murdered some caramelised onion relish with it, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment one bit. What do I do? Tell you not to go? you can go but if there's only one hog sausage roll - leave it for me.

Arrived at 4.20 pm they close at 5 but had most of the chairs up on the tables apart from 2. They're were crumbs on the floor and the tables needed cleaning. Felt unwelcoming. Staff unfriendly. Felt like they just wanted to close up for the day. Won't return.

I like this place. It's weird having it associated with Tesco though, because it's not at all the type of establishment I'd imagine linking with them. To me this would be better suited with M & S or Waitrose considering it's beautifully presented food display....

Great little coffee spot while shopping. Good "Aussie" style coffee well made . Staff very pleasant and helpful. Will return!

If you are shopping in the big Tesco and fancy a cuppa this is the place to go. Usually it is fairly calm, has a nice feel about it, good selection of teas and reasonably priced cakes and snacks. The staff are helpful and friendly....

Popped into our local coffee shop where the best coffee in town is for a little kick that we needed. Came out smiling lovely coffee exceptional staff really friendly and helpful. Will be back time and time again. Great work guys.

Fantastic choice of drinks, good selection of food and nice seating areas. Even if you don't shop in Tesco, this place is worth a visit if you love your coffee. Friendly staff too.

Dreadful place. You have to order your coffee and then wait for them to make it and then call you. pretentious and unnecessary. Furthermore when I was there I was the only one in the queue

I meant to write about one visit some months ago, but didn't do so as the staff member who was incredibly rude appeared to no longer be working. Since then I have enjoyed every visit and love your coffee.

This place is staffed by intelligent, enthusiastic and knowledgeable young people, and the service and products are absolutely excellent. The coffee is by far the best we have tasted in Thanet so far, and we are frequent visitors to coffee houses.We haven't had a meal there yet, but the scones and muffins are scrummy.It is well worth getting one of their loyalty cards, as yo get a free coffee after only sixx stamps on it, which beats Costa or Nero.

Best coffee in Thanet at good prices and the food is amazing as well. Not only that but the staff are all lovely. Winner on all counts!

I went into the café prior to starting my shopping. Staff we unfriendly and unwelcoming - I felt like I was doing them a favour by being there. The place was dirty and the coffee horrible, food even worse.

Nos fuimos de negar la mientras que las compras en Tesco . El café era muy agradable, y era raro que se le ha dado un reloj del huevo que te dice cuando para llevar la bolsa de té para el té perfecto de fuerza. También tuvimos croissant que era quizás un poco caro, pero estaban deliciosos. Seguro que volveremos.
