Reunion meet up with a college mate, fifth visit in 2 years, warm and friendly welcome, great food and ales. Great full menu, excellent quality food, competitive pricing given today's,market. Very cosy pub, in a residential street, has an outdoor seating area. We both have some distance to travel but will be back again in the spring 2025. Thoroughly recommend.

If you enjoy the ambience of a traditional public house, that smell of traditional beers, the sound of people chatting, no loud music or tv blaring, then pop in this delightful pub. We had a great Sunday lunch of the most succulent roast beef, tatties to die for, selection of piping hot vegetables in abundance coated in beautiful gravy all for under £14 per person, which included a free pudding! Honestly delicious. If I could change one thing it would be the Yorkshire pudding! Sadly not a big fluffy one, if it had been this lunch would no doubt be perfection on a plate! See you again soon ⚒️

I thought I would try this pub being close to home. The special was a lunchtime offer of Fish and chips. being Friday. The fish was served with the skin on and saturated in oil or fat ! The batter was their own beer and batter recipe, the chips were dry. Reading some of the ratings I cannot believe they got it so wrong ! The Manager/owner was very abrupt and unfriendly when I asked for a sweetener for my wife's coffee. NO ONE has asked for sweetener ever says he - .a very rude response

We literally stumbled across this pub as we searched for a good old fashioned Sunday roast. As soon as we walked in we had a warm and friendly welcome and the offer of a table. Just looking around at the other customers tucking into their delicious roast we couldn't wait to get settled in for a treat. The menu offered a great selection at a truly reasonable price...with desert included! The pub has a real suntrap of a courtyard garden and when lunch arrived it was beautifully cooked and generous. It is now our pub of choice for Sunday lunch and hopefully some live music judging by the event on offer. This is a small pub worth visiting and supporting, so don't think twice, walk in and sample some good old fashioned service, food and prices 👍

The dog with me is clean, small, old and a delight to everyone. It was quiet in the pub and we were about to have food and a number of drinks. The Hare and Hounds is one of those dimly lit, womb-like old pubs that you sometimes find in seaside towns, a refuge from the battering winds and rain outside, the sort of place where fishermen used to exchange tales and smugglers used to assemble. There are signs that it has been sympathetically altered during the years, but it maintains its cosy atmosphere and richly-coloured carpets and walls, plus colourful stained-glass lighting panels in the ceiling. There are sporting prints on the walls, and one wall is devoted to golfing prints and memorabilia. The popularity of the reasonably priced food was evidenced by the sudden influx of customers as the magic hour of 6 pm approached, when food begins to be served. Absolute 90s Radio provides a fitting musical backdrop. My favourite aspect of the pub was the view from the front window of rooftops with a medley of interesting chimney-pots, with seagulls gliding above. There is a "two meals for the price of one" offer on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

As recommended by the bar staff, we had the pie of the day which was pork, leek and tarragon. Unlike so many so called foody pubs that plonk a bit of pastry on a microwaved casserole, this was served as a proper slice of home cooked pie made with delightful flaky shortcrust pastry. Accompanied with freshly cooked roast potatoes and vegetables. Unsurprisingly we overheard an adjoining table waxing lyrical about the pie too. Will be returning for more!

Thought we would try this for a change. Its a typical looking town pub & to be honest it was a bit dingy at first with lots of dark wood. It does grow on you. The menu is an extensive one & everything is cooked to order, Portions are good & it is of good quality. The staff & a couple of regulars we met were very friendly, remember its a pub rather than a full blown restaurant & you shouldn't be disappointed. The design of the building & its entrance would be a problem for wheelchair users, Anyone with walking aids can gain access freely. You have to order at the bar, pay & the food is bought to you. If I fancy pub grub, we will be back.

We have been going to the Hare and Hounds regularly on a Sunday, about once a month, for many years. I don’t know why I haven’t reviewed it before, possibly because I don’t want our local to get too busy so I we can’t find a vacant table! The food is home cooked, basic, tasty and comforting. Today we had cottage pie, ham egg and chips and Lasagne. All of which were fresh, tasty, generously sized and very good value. We enjoyed a pint or two of Sussex ale with them. I can’t think of a better way to spend Sunday (or any) lunchtime. We have a little dog, but as they are not dog friendly we cannot take her along, or we would go more often. Great classic country pub in the middle of Worthing. Friendly staff. Live music with some great bands. Cover smoking area out back. Haven't eaten here yet but will do soon.

Nothing fancy just good basic pub food, excellent sandwiches and mixed platters.Smaller portions of many things are available for those with less appetite or just wanting a light lunch.Good to still have a proper pub in the town centre always a warm welcome.

As a pub the hare and Hounds is a great pub and they have some good live music most weekends , I visited at lunchtime with my partner for a bite to eat , I have to say the food we had was very disappointing the chicken in both of our dishes appeared to be either tinned or pre-cooked / vac packed , I appreciate food in most pubs is pre cooked and reheated I expect that but that's not what I mean , maybe it was the dishes we had chosen because in the past I have had a good roast here but on this visit not so good

This pub serves as a good location for ales and your everyday drinks. It's hidden away down the side street of the main shopping area in Worthing and also does a mean pub quiz once a week. One of the most honest pubs in the area where you'd rarely see big groups of youngsters; more regulars.

Booked a table for 6 people for sunday lunch. Nice cosy interior, shame cant say anything positive about the bar staff/landlord, no welcome, found our own reserved table and no thank you on leaving my 94 year old grandmother said thank you to them out of politeness! the young guy bringing out food was helpful though, Food ok although ploughmans on the stingy side.

Booked a table for lunch. As the bar maid was serving someone we found our table as the reserved sign had our name on it and our elderly relative needed to sit down.No one came over to welcome us. Ordered drinks and food at the bar. Food was acceptable pub fayre and reasonably priced. Pub was quite but no one came over to ask if everything was OK or if we wanted more drinks. The exception to this was the young male waiter who was friendly and personable. Once again, no one acknowledged us when we left. I made a point of thanking the man behind the bar and he managed a 'thank you' in return. Felt we were an inconvenience. Perhaps they were having an off day?

Visited with a group of friends for Sunday lunch. There were two sizes of Sunday roast and other meals available at great prices. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole visit.

Popped in for dinner on a Monday night. Been several times before and the food was good and on occasion very good. This time average. Maybe down to our choice of dishes or maybe Mondays are not the night to visit. Will try again on our next visit to Worthing.

An old fashioned pub with friendly staff. The only hitch was the quizmaster. His sense of humour was something out of a 1970s working mens club. Total car crash. He made hilarious comments about customers as they arrived or left. A couple of chaps muttered as they walked out of the door "someone's going to hit that bloke one of these days". That raised a laugh if nothing else did.

The pub is a nice cosy pub put but we had to wait over an hour for food to arrive and plates were stone cold. The food was mediocre but the cold plates was very off putting it made it me feel no one cared.

This is a gem of a pub in Worthing town centre. Only criticism is that it is one of the most expensive pubs in the area
