Had takeaway from here a couple of times and food has been good both times. Haven't had delivery, but collection is quick. Will happily use again

Disgusting Chinese. What's so upsetting it is the only one in Tenterden and a great Chinese is missing a business opportunity. The sweet and sour sauce is actually inedible. Twice we have tried, each time had to get money back!!! Please please open another Chinese and get this one gone! Won't take card over the phone, clearly tax ivasing and serves disgusting food. Money grabbing and rude. DO NOT USE!!!!

This restaurant used to be good went right down hill must have changed the chef as the fried rice has even changed colour to a very dark brown . Must be down to using cheap produce that's what I've put it down too ... there ain't 1 decent take away in tenterden at all

We order over the phone to collect as only a 5 minute walk away. Food was ready in 15 -20 minutes. All was piping hot still when I got our takeaway home. Everything was packed up securely for transport. I had the bbq spare ribs which were delicious, would highly recommend them, lovely and sticky and a very decent portion. My partners prawn balls were very nice too. Overall everything was very tasty, only reason I didn’t give them 5/5 was the egg fried rice was a bit over done for our liking.

Been eating from here since I could eat solid food and NEVER had a bad meal from here. I'm now 36 and I'd eat from here every day if I could. Not saying they can't have an off day but anyone who says they're terrible is just being picky

Ordered our food for delivery at 18.05, and told it would be 1hr to 1hr30 - understandable and acceptable on a Saturday evening. At 8pm, we still had no food, and when we contacted for an update, I was told it was then being cooked. I expressed my dissatisfaction, as it would still be a 10 minute drive for delivery, making it over 2hrs wait. I was offered with a £4.90 discount - an absolute insult. Given our order was over £60. It wasn't even 10%. At 8.35pm when our food still hadn't arrived we were greeted with nothing more than 'sorry we're busy'. This I understand, but had we of been informed when we placed our order it would be such a wait, we could have said yes/no... and we're now 1h- 1h30 later than we were advised - A total of 2h30 after ordering. Felt like we were completely fobbed off. No consideration for customer service and inconvenience (and the fact we had 2 children waiting for their dinner), just an 'Ah well, we're busy'. Poor customer service. Thankfully the food was enjoyable, but given this experience we won't be using them again, and will steer anyone we know well clear of using them. Happy to take the cash and no sh*ts given about customer dissatisfaction, customer loyalty or retainment.

As a family we have been using Happy Valley as our preferred choice of Chinese cuisine for over 15 years now. It has changed ownership a couple of times and the food has always remained consistently excellent A great choice of dishes available on the menu and all are very tasty indeed. We normally have the food delivered and this is unfortunately the area that loses 1 star, it can be a bit hit and miss, sometimes slow and other times it arrives pretty close to the quoted time, occasionally they will get some of the order incorrect, however on the rare occasion this happens they are very quick to fix the issue. If you want great tasting Chinese food, then I can highly recommend Happy Valley, excellent service and very friendly.

Used this take away a few times in the past for convenience when staying locally. It's never been great but usually ok. Last visit (will definitely be the last) the food was awful. It looked terrible, we risked tasting it and then threw all the dishes in the food waste. Terrible taste, poorly cooked, looked awful, we ordered 7 dishes and every one was just completely wrong. We have never had a take away meal like it, disgusting.

Went in a couple of weeks ago, was told my food would be 5 minutes at 5 to 8, shop kept taking orders and left me sitting for 45 minutes. Finally got my food at 8:45. Kept telling other customers their food would be 5 minutes too rather than being honest. Also highly unprofessional and girls behind counter bitching about other customers while they are on the phone. This is my usual Chinese I have used for the past 3 years but will never use this place again after what I witnessed. I can understand they get busy however the nastiness between the girls towards customers was completely unacceptable and off putting.

We hadn’t had a takeaway from the Happy Valley for over a year but after a meal we ordered a second takeaway 2 days later. We couldn’t fault either of the meals and was as good as it gets.

First visit here, drove there and ordered, very long wait.Worst Chinese we have had in years. £32 for 2 people Mixed Curry was nearly all hard vegetables, spot the meat, about 2 prawns, 2 bits of chicken, 2 bits of beef and 2 bits of pork, Wow! Dry old rice looked overdone. Beef and onion, the beef was tough. Salt and pepper prawns, the batter was soggy, Not worth the money or the petrol used. Won't be using here again, We would sooner drive further to Willesborough for a Chinese meal that wipes the floor with this place!

Just had a takeaway from here, all dishes looked the same colour, was VERY expensive.. now half the portion for double the price! Will not be going back! Also doesn’t taste very nice!!

I visited here a couple of weeks ago ago and the food was good compared to the past as I think that it is under different ownership.

Orderd food for delivery 1 hr and 1/2 later no sign this place used to be great about a year ago.

We had a set meal for 2. Plenty of it, in fact it would have served 3. It was nothing special though particularly the chicken chow mien, which was bland.

Might be the worst Chinese I've ever eaten. So bland, the sweet and sour sauce was very watery, chow mein had no taste and other bits were not tasty!

Ive been eating here for the past 10 years and food is good most of the time sometimes chips are under cooked but the issue for me and most ive spoken too is the price increase its getting very expensive even for a meal to share you will be paying over £30 .

Just had delivery that was mistaken for a pick up,so very late.the food we got was horrible and not completely what we ordered.

It's one of the nicest tasting Chinese take away in Kent that I've found in the last 17 year. To the point I will travel over 30 miles to come get one if I want chinese, but since the lock down prices have gone right up and it's now made it a little too expensive to travel all that way and order a meal which I use to be able to get a hand full of dishes for £20 now I can barely get 3 so we don't have it as much.

Wasn’t sure about trying this whilst on hol in Tenterden because of the mixed reviews but we found it was perfectly adequate. We had the crispy beef which was good and the sweet and sour chicken which was a little watery, plus some rice and other sides. All perfectly nice and we were glad we ordered, would visit again.

To say the food was bland would be kind. Uninspired, microwaved slop, half filled foiled trays. There was an awful egg dish that tasted like a student had attempted to cook omelette with dish water instead of oil, and this was probably the best dish. It's been 20 years since we last ordered here; perhaps we will try again in a few decades time. On a positive note it was all heated to a lukewarm state in less that 10 minutes and the staff were nice enough. Get with the times Happy valley!

Excellent! We ordered for delivery and were told 35 to 40 mins. Barely 20 mins later the food arrived, piping hot and delicious - you can't get much better than that!

Prawn crackers tasted weird. Pancake roll - too greasy for my liking Singapore vermicelli- ok Singapore fried rice- decent, quite a kick to it. Chicken and sweetcorn soup - excellent Sesame prawn toast - nice- good portion size As its tenterden its very expensive, but its ok. Probably won't use again. Service was amazing, they had it ready to collect in less than 10mins. Takes card and delivers.

Ordered food for 8.00pm, was 25 minutes late. Food was average. And it's not the first time this has happened but I think it's the last. Will not be going back.

We live locally and have been using Happy Valley for years. Their food is delicious. They closed for refurbishment once and we went elsewhere and got snotty balls of pap. Never again will we go elsewhere!

Just moved to the area and have had a most delicious experience from Happy Valley. Everything was tasty and at a reasonable price point. Staff were lovely and gave service with a smile. So much better than any of the takeaways in London from whence we came. Will go back again.

This is the second time I've ordered since moving to St. Michaels just two weeks ago. Both times, been v impressed with the quality of the food. The King prawn and cashew nuts dish is particularly tasty as is the Special chow mein. Friendly staff and a top chef!

Great food with a friendly service.

My first time that I have visited that particular place in St Michael's since the 1980s, when it was a fish and chip shop. Had very friendly efficient service, and my food was even delivered to my vehicle when it was ready, which was a very nice personal touch

Twice now they got our order wrong got stuff we didn't order told us we were in the wrong it was our mistake wanted us to pay again ..Loyal customer for over 25 years NOT anymore

First time and definitely last time. Lemon chicken very dry and seemed to have been a very old chicken which died of old age. Lemon sauce very watery and not very tasty. Sweet and sour spare ribs were definaty not sweet and sour ordinary BBQ ribs tough and chewy. Bean sprouts too much water really not too much taste. Special fried rice was OK nothing great. Also in spite of notices advising customers to wear masks, I was the only one to do so, in the 10 or 12 customers there. I also thought to prices were quite high. Would I return, absolutely NOT

Quite possibly the worst Chinese take away I have ever had the misfortune to order, definitely the most disappointing. No problem with the delivery time, that was quite quick but the food was terrible. The chicken balls were like warm and swimming in grease (it literally oozed out when you touched one), the ‘sweet and sour’ sauce was more of a very watery tepid brown cup of vinegar. The Kung po prawns were more like tasteless plankton in batter and the Kung po chicken was no better either. The special chow mien looked good at first sight but turned out to be anything but special and completely devoid of taste! Finally the salt and pepper ribs were.... well I’m not sure how to best describe them, save to say that I couldn’t eat them and so offered them to my dog, who refused to eat them as well!!!! Overall a complete waste of money and an insult to my tastebuds. I will certainly never be ordering from them Again.

I was told my take out would be half an hour. When arriving it was in the cool box behind already done so on arriving home it was already COLD. The girl on the desk got the amount wrong and wasn’t helpful at all. The crispy beef was a stodgy stuck together mess. The salt and pepper prawns were soggy batter laid in a bed of onions to fill the pot. The sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style was very small battered pieces of chicken that truly wasn’t chicken as had no resemblance to it at all, The worst Chinese I have ever had

Ordered food at 5.30, at 8pm asked for a refund cos the wait was a little over the top. Shocking organisation so have no idea how the food was. Run by amateurs don’t bother

Placed an order at 18:30 and was told it would be around 90 minutes for delivery. At 20:30 tried ringing for an update but the number was constantly engaged. 3 hrs later decided to cook something else, so when my food finally turned up at 21:40 I told them I no longer wanted it. Absolutely terrible service.

Terrible service - ordered at 6pm, told to collect at 6.30pm. It’s was not ready and told it would be 7pm (waited). Then told it would now be 7.30pm - went home and came back. Came back to be told they would only then start cooking it and asked to wait another 20 minutes (so waited). Then went back in to be told they have just started cooking. TOTAL SHAMBLES Got refund and fish and chips - super quick!

Very mixed. Arrived at 6pm this evening. Very polite pleasant girl taking order. Advised food would be 20 minutes. Several customers came in to collect orders which weren't ready for them. One couple in front of us waiting for ages. Two girls on counter. At one point everyone's name was re-taken and girls went into kitchen with list, no explanation given. We waited 45 mins. No apology made at all despite something clearly not going well with food timings. On the plus side, the food was lovely once we got it home. Last time we had a takeaway from there one dish was absent. So... Disappointed but ok in the end. May try somewhere else next time. A simple apology/ acknowledgement would have made a big difference: the girls are young so it should have come from owners/ management. Didn't seem fair to make a complaint to the girls in front of a large group of customers- assume others felt the same as they said nothing but also looked quite fed up.

I don't get the positive reviews - used this place twice, both times have been so unfriendly, and food is watery and bland. Wont be back.

Went in and ordered takeaway last night 23rd August ,waited 20mins which is fine as pressumed all is cooked fresh.spent £38 to find when we got home the duck wraps dry so dry you couldn’t eat it even the cucumber was dry,sweet and sour sauce seemed watered down with no taste,spare ribs should of fallen off the bone SURPRISE they were also dry.Disgusting and a waste of money will never use Happy Valley again.

We ordered ahead, using the menu downloaded from the web site. We were told that it would be ready in 20 minutes! Ours starters comprised of deep fried seaweed, vegetable spring rolls, prawn toast and prawn crackers. Our main courses consisted of two beef and one fish dish, with a selection of vegetables and egg fried rice. It was really, really excellent and was ready for collection when we arrived and it was very well priced. Unusually, the front of house staff were not Chinese, but were very friendly and well organised in managing the numerous customers who arrived to collect their orders. I'm hungry just writing about how good it was!

This used to be a nice chinese but it has dramatically gone down hill. The delivery time is always later even up to an hour after the time they give and the quality of the food is disgusting the chicken balls are like rubber and full of grease i will not be using this chinese again

Being cut off by the manager for having the audacity to complain about cold food and terrible lateness having used them for 20 years speaks for itself.

The worst Chinese you have ever tried it’s slop sweet and sour is like vinegar with no consistency or colour try the beef curry if it contains beef how this Chinese is even still going is beggars belief

Recently the Chinese restaurant in Tenterden closed which was a massive shame for the town. The only Chinese we have now is the take away in St Michaels.

Greasy bland flavoured food with 1hr and a half wait on weekends never coming again... very disappointed as i wanted a nice meal recommend you go else where...

Not impressed at all. Ordered my food and was told “30-45 minutes” after 1.5 hours later our food was delivered. To then see that our food we ordered wasn’t here. Many of our dishes were missing. With another phone call to be slandered and discriminated against. Very upsetting and hurtful when we order from them all the time. Will never use this Chinese again. Staff are very rude and very disrespectful!!

Unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy our takeaway as it lacked in flavour. I also asked for the fried chicken in satay sauce to be told that it wasn’t a peanut based sauce, it was a spicy sauce...but a satay sauce is a peanut based sauce, so I was a bit confused. I also didn’t get any fried chicken. It’s a shame but the meal wasn’t very good. I don’t think we’ll be coming here again.

This was our first time trying Happy Valley and mainly because of the awful weather we wanted a delivery service which our usual place doesn’t offer. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but I needn’t have!

Every dish has at least a whole onion in it, crispy beef was a very small portion for the container it was in , noodles and rice were very dry , the chicken balls were nice and crispy,and plenty of meat in the curry ,but flavour and taste wise, we found it a bit bland and watery , we didn't rate it .

Siempre hemos encontrado la comida excelente. Incluso después de 40 minutos de viaje, cuando abrimos la comida era muy buena y caliente, y si nos traen, a tiempo, entrega chap educado. Realmente no tengo ninguna queja!

Tasteless food. S&S sauce tasted strongly of vinegar and was lumpy. Chicken was anemic. Vegetable spring rolls to a very low standard. Chicken ball sauce was disgusting. Definitely not impressed and only ate because it was the only local open

Visited here for the first time and spent £20 roughly 3 main dishes a sauce and mini rolls we often eat Chinese food it's our favourite and have visited many the salt and pepper chicken wasn't even 1/2 full and most of that was veg not chicken it disappointed us from the off felt cheated to say the least it was also in a airtight container with no vent so by the time we got home it was sweated and soggy not crispy as should be the rest of the food was nice nothing special won't be returning again!

Must've been to this takeaway a couple of dozen times over the past several years and never had a bad experience. The service is very efficient and the food is always delicious.My partner and I tend to make the same order every time and we live locally; it's great to have the consistency, shame that our order is so unhealthy otherwise we'd eat from there more often!

Ok so my family and I tonight ordered a meal from this restaurant tonight. We have done several times before and basically always order the same thing. I'm vegetarian and we always state for every dish I'm going to eat "no meat no fish" like a mantra every single time. We are actually self conscious how much we repeat ourselves on every single occasion we order of sounding pedantic. So first off when the food arrived they had missed off two dishes we had ordered which we had all been looking forward to. Seaweed for me and ribs for my meat eating family. My husband called them and the man who answered the phone was entirely unapologetic, said that the woman would have read the order back so basically didn't believe what my husband was saying. He was to be honest very rude and couldn't care less. My husband gave up on the argument in the end as we hadn't been charged for the missed out food so we cut our losses and went to enjoy our evening. We got our food on our plates and went to sit in front of a movie. I then saw in my singapore chow mien "no meat no fish" chicken, pork and prawns. I don't know how much I can express to non vegetarians how upsetting and offensive that was. I was literally in tears. What if it was my religion to not eat these meats or pork? Would I be taken more seriously? So my husband phoned again. Again the man who is apparently the owner answered was horribly rude and couldn't care less. Just went on about how he would need to check the phone records later as he believed the woman answering the phone would have read it back correctly which is so utterly offensive basically calling us liars. Ok so now we have had a couple of the dishes redelivered by a very nice delivery person who was very understanding I want to add, however we are quite far into the evening now, our children have all eaten quite a long time ago, some have gone to bed, my husband is now too annoyed to eat, I'm too upset to eat and the entire evening is ruined. I am never ever ordering from this horrible place again. What right do you have to take £60 of our money and ruin our family evening through your incompetence? DISGRACEFUL.

Delicious food always from here. Always ready to collect on time (as we live too far away for delivery!). Even better the following day for lunch with leftovers!

Good menu options, always cooked well, staff friendly at the counter and over the phone.Sometimes longer waits but that's on busy nights which is fine if you plan ahead. Delivery service is reliable and we've not had an incorrect order or had the food arrive cold.A local favourite when pressed for time.

I'm not to go mad over the food, we had a large selection and it was all very good. We shall certainly be using them again, soon I hope.

Have used the valley for 20 plus years and they always deliver on taste and value, Szechuan chicken and the prawn toast just a couple of faves!!!!!

This is a perfectly adequate Chinese take away; the food is average but good and the prices are cheap for the area but probably about what you'd expect to pay for a Chinese take away. I'm not sure what else to say really. If you are sitting at home and fancy a Chinese then this place will satisfy that craving, and do so well. If you are seeking a treasure trove of exotic flavours and delicious food then perhaps this isn't the place for you.I wouldn't order from here to wow a date, but I will certainly visit here again in future when the craving strikes and I can't be bothered to cook.

As a vegan it's always an amazing treat to find a take away with multiple options, and this place fits the bill. Great value for money, loads of tofu (bean curd) dishes that really make you drool, plus curries, crispy pancake rolls, perfect rice. All in all I can't fault them one bit. Service is quick and simple.

This has been a family favourite for the last 4 years we started using it because of a recommendation . The food is all freshly prepared by the cooks and no artificial food colouring is added to the dishes no MG which is great for my family as 2 of us are intolerant . Never had a bad meal out of it . I know one of the staff so am sure about the freshly prepared part . Delivery available .

We have been using this take away for a good few years and I thought I thought I would give it a mention.The food is freshly prepared and of good quality. Tastes excellent and is served with a smile.Although a takeaway, they also offer local delivery for a small extra charge and this can be helpful if you want to get home to watch something on TV.
