Happy Days Chinese Takeaway Pembury in Tunbridge Wells

Chicken balls hard overall quality poor no taste, very dry with a lack of sauce, special fried rice totally tasteless worst Chinese meal ever would not recommend.

Our order took 2 hours and 16 minutes to arrive. I had to phone twice. The first time after an hour and a half they said the prdere was "leaving now". That was obviously a lie. My girlfriend even fell asleep waiting for the food.

Got from just eat £10 off and we worked out it’s still £3 more then Pembury on the same order with the discount and was below average. We won’t be ordering again

Waited two and a half hours for it to be delivered, when turned up it was completely tasteless and cold. We were so disappointed, so we will be ordering from another chinese store.

Interesting experience. Greeted upon arrival by two kids screaming/arguing behind the counter, making the labrador that lives on the shop floor bark and howl, and four phones ringing complaining bout late delivery. Thankfully my order appeared very quickly. Which raised a red flag imo. All the dishes seemed to have the same sauce, except the sweet and sour that omitted the sour, crispy chilli chicken was rock hard and the noodles were bland, just non descript. It isn't cheap, and the lack of care about the quality of food is quite obscene

First time here food is good but I'm missing a chicken ball from my order xD Is only a chicken ball but still not the point when its a set meal for two with ten chicken balls. N don't prawns crackers come with larger orders anymore?

ordered a half 9 food arrived at 11:15, a hour after it was supposed to, fair play to the women who was extremely apologetic and threw in some freebies however food is probably the worst i’ve tasted, the drive tried saying he was waiting for 15 minutes despite only just arriving as i saw him pull up couple mins prior, the food was chewy, rubbery tasted uncooked properly, the sweet and sour sauce was awful, only half decent thing was the crackers

We had takeaway it was 2 hours arriving and then was missing some of order was told would receive refund but received nothing .The food was swimming in Greece when arrived that we couldn't eat any of it.

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would! Our meal was nearly two hours late, and every time we rang to check (three times in total!), we were given the same excuse: "It’s being made and will be out for delivery soon." No apology, no urgency, just empty reassurances. When the food finally arrived, it was an absolute disaster. Everything was greasy, rubbery, and completely unappetising. I honestly don’t think it was cooked properly—borderline unsafe to eat! The flavours (if you could call them that) were non-existent, and the entire meal ended up in the bin.

Have used this restaurant several times before but this time our delivery was more than 30mins late.

I’ve been a regular customer here, but recently I ordered the crispy aromatic duck, and from the first bite, I knew something was off. Foolishly, I ignored it, and now I’m paying for it with hours of intense stomach pain and have been stuck in the toilet ever since. How can you serve such obviously spoiled food to paying customers without any guilt? This is a complete disgrace, and I’m warning everyone—don’t risk your health here. Stay far away from this place!

I wouldn't recommend this place at all. The food was bland and overpriced, with everything tasting overly processed. The chicken curry was watery, and the 'egg fried rice' was a joke—dry, flavourless, and like it came straight out of a microwave. The only decent part of the meal was the drink.

I recently made the mistake of ordering from this place, and I wish I had gone elsewhere. The food was incredibly disappointing—bland and stodgy, I ended up throwing most of it away, and the small amount I did eat made me feel sick shortly afterward. I'm concerned about the hygiene standards here. Definitely not an experience I want to repeat.

Agree with the other reviews!! I used to order from here all the time but the last two times I’ve had it, I’ve been violently unwell. Serious case of food poisoning which makes me worry how they make their food or whether it’s just reheated before sent out!! DO NOT GO HERE!! They won’t offer refund either even though it made me and my family unwell for days. I dread to think how dirty their kitchen is 🤢🤢

Ordered for asap and still not arrived after 90 minutes

Recently moved close to Pembury, I thought I'd give Happy Days a shot. However, the food was nothing special. Definitely isn't the place to go. Overall experience: Disappointing.

AVOID or be curious!!! The food was nice from here but it gave me food poisoning so I won’t be going here again.

Great food!! but customer service is shocking. Ordered food at 6.15pm and it arrived at 9.35pm. Always get told we are really busy when you call. Our average wait time for food is 2/3 hours. Feels like If I ordered it Monday it might arrive by the weekend. Was told we were going to get a free bottle of coke which didn't arrive. Very disappointed as we love the food! 27/02/2024 - 17 Days Later & We Never Received The Refund 21/03/2024 - Still Waiting.........

Ordered delivery to my home. It arrived early and this is a good thing. However as a Chinese who has been eating fried rice in my entire life. That fired rice that it came was very disappointing. I am sure the food that I ordered is not Hokkien fired rice. But the one that I got like flooded with source. For the record, fired rice needs to be dry unless it is Hokkien fired rice. All the ingredients are supposed to stir in wok, not just source on top of some rice.

Always pop in here for a Beef Chow Mein on a Saturday Night after taking the Kids to a Party. Food is always lovely and the Owner and her staff are very professional. Will definitely try their House Special on Rice next Time.

Avoid at all costs!!!!! As a vegetarian, I was horrified to find beef in my supposed vegetable noodle dish. It was absolutely disgusting and made me throw up. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for a more reliable option.

The BEST Chinese I’ve ever had!! Will always order from here as delivery is never long and the food is always incredible. Portions sizes are really good and everything tastes so fresh and lovely. Their salt and pepper chicken/chips are my fave- every dish we’ve had from here is always amazing :) such lovely friendly staff too. You need to try this place!!

Delivery supposed to be one hour taken over 2!!! Last order they forgot! Gave it one more try but won’t be repeating an order with them only due to delivery. Quality of food is normally good, this time I’ve got no clue as still waiting… £40 order not good! Food arrived missing two dishes and cold. So disappointing!

They rang to say it would be very late and offered a complimentary offer for the lateness. Told us they would send spring rolls and samosas lol, they were so small it was pointless. Very bad customer service

So very disappointed. Maybe it's a Monday night service "thing" but it took forever for our early-placed order to arrive and then part of the order was missing. The promise of a 5-min follow-delivery turned into 40 mins by which time we'd finish the rest of our mediocre meal and so I turned it away. I so want to support local businesses but Happy Days Pembury, you've not lived up to your name and I'll be ordering my Chinese elsewhere in future. #disappointed

Constantly late. Long delivery estimated time and they cannot stick to it. Food tastes great though.

I needed some late night freshly cooked Chinese food and that's what I received! Walked in around 9.45pm, ordered the House Special on boiled rice. Freshly cooked meats and crisp veggies on boiled rice with a light gravy, perfect. If you're staying at the Mercure and need a late night snack ( like me ) try here!

I ordered spareribs and salt and pepper mixed fry with delivery it was £19.50 .As they didn't state what was in the mixed ir was basically a full large box of soggy chips with few extremely dry battered chicken brest pieces. It was way too salty to eat. Even the every few slices of top of green onions and onions didn't cut it. They dry pork ribs was also way too salty and it tasted of gone of meat when you get to the bone. They flesh was fried too much and the meat has become very tough and impossible to swallow. I had one bite of the ribs and 2 pieces of the chicken and rest went to the bin and I went hungry in bed. I don't mind paying money for good food. But just can't understand how people can have conscious to sell food like this and earn money and make a living out of it?? I still have the aftertaste of the salt and MSG lingering in my mouth and haven't had any appetite since yesterday evening. And my stomach feels soo stressed ans unsettled. And this is not normal for a girl like me who loves her meals! ! I see people give good reviews, I just don't understand if it's because I have tasted good Chinese take out in London and Chinatown so I know what good food is. Or I'm just unlucky to get the gone off food or food when then main cook is not there. I tried them because the ones in Tunbridge Wells town are just as bad. I guess I either have to cook myself or just give up ordering Chinese.

I had a takeaway after my shift last night at this Chinese takeaway which was my go to over twenty years ago. Firstly, it looked grabby and the deco was worn looking. The staff, only one , the owner was working and her two teenagers were hanging out. I remember the food being really good so looking forward to and wasn't put off by the interior. Got to eat the special noodles, ginger chicken and satay chicken, it was all rank!!! and a waste of hard earned money!!! It was dry obviously microwaved and tasteless. Sorry but not again .

Great place to get your chinese, hot and gets delivered quickly. The salt and pepper chicken and crispy chilli beed are amazing. This is great quality food.

We have used Happy Days for many years, we have only ever had one bad meal from this business. We did have to call to remind them of our order last week but it turned up 15mins after the reminder call. Again the Chinese meal was delicious, we love the crispy beef and Singapore chow mein.

We ordered from Happy Days last night, and had a piping hot first class meal with excellent service and delivery. Will definitely be ordering again.

Waiting 3 hours for cold food one of worst Chinese ever had customer services was terrible aswell

We have used Happy Days Take Away for over 4 years and have never had an issue. Staff and delivery drivers have always been friendly and polite. Food is always hot and cooked well, portions are generous and usually do 2 nights for us. Occasionally delivery can take over an hour from when I have ordered but this is generally over a weekend so I assume they are busy, food still arrives at the high standard we expect. I’m sure if we ever had a problem the staff would rectify this for us.

Sorry but that was one of the worst takeaways I have ever received. After waiting over an hour the Spring roll was a pile of mush when I opened the bag, the king Prawn balls looked dangerous to eat and no way was the contents anyway related to a king Prawn, ribs were fatty and chips cold. Have had some good food over the years but can't use this place again. Not sure what's gone wrong 🤔

Absolutely terrible again the last two times we have ordered they have got the order wrong then we ring up and they very bloody rude plus what they delivered was bloody cold never again!

Have ordered from here 3 times with delivery; first time lovely hot food and not too long a wait; second was luke warm food and 1 hour wait; third time, waited for 3 hours and given excuses all the time, when food turned up stone cold with delivery person not being bothered, no attempt to make up for this at all

Fast service, yummy food, can deliver or you can pick up. You can order on phone as well as in store.

AVOID!!! Please be mindful when ordering from here, this is the 2nd time we have had undercooked chicken from Happy Days! Thankfully we spotted it before eating too much of it. The service has been appalling the last two times we have ordered from here, missing items on both the 2 deliveries and the response both times is "we will send the items to you right now" which of course they don't bother coming back. Safe to say we will not be ordering from them again after being loyal customers for so many years!

Good customer service, lady who we spoke to on the phone was very helpful and friendly. Food arrived on time and was delicious.

We ordered our food through the all eat app that it says to order it from. Simple enough. Put in that we wanted it at 7pm. 7:30pm comes and still not here. Went onto the chat, awful service. They couldn't find the order first, they found it and said it would be there within 15 minutes. It wasn't, went on the chat again, they said that I wouldn't need to call as the Chinese wasn't accepting their calls!! Called and again they couldn't find our order, they found it and said it would be 10 minutes, it wasn't. I called at 8, again they couldn't find the order, then they told me no more then 5 minutes. The attitude of the people on the phone was horrendous and didn't care that the order was then 2 hours late and our daughters were left without the takeaway they wanted and had to go to bed on toast!!! When the food did come it was cold and two of the containers had holes in!! Never again will I order from here even though we got recommended it
