Hanwah in Windsor and Maidenhead

My review now is very different to what it was 3 years ago. This has to be the worst Chinese I have had, which is such a shame as it used to be so nice! An example would be the egg fried rice - it’s literally white rice with an egg cracked in it. Zero flavour and by far the worst egg fried rice I’ve ever had. Then there is the sweet and sour dishes / sauce, the recipe has changed drastically and for the worse. Nothing like the sweet and sour flavour you’d be used to. I’m not sure what they’ve done but it’s terrible. I hate to leave a poor review but this is being very honest after several reattempts at visiting and hoping for improvement. It was definitely better when Steve was there. I can’t see it coming back again. Now on the look out to find a better Chinese in Maidenhead.

Have been coming here for the past couple of years and have always been very impressed with the food. Hot, not too greasy and generous portions. The owners are lovely and very happy to make changes / additions to our orders. The menu choice is huge and the quality of the ingredients is high. We always pick ours up and it's always on time. Bring back Steve!! Food has gone hill rapidly since and I'm sad to say that having eaten there for the best part of 26years, I wont be eating there again. So sad

No disrespect to the previous owners, but the sweet and sour pork and egg foo-yongs are proper Chinese style. The Singapore vermicelli is the best I've ever had

since steve retired this place is rubbish now. very expensive and very small portions compared to steves. steve used to give 12 sweet sour pork balls and now you get 10 for a higher price. ill never use this place again. i now use new china one in woodlands park. much bigger portions and they deliver.

This place used to have the best chicken curry in the area, the sauce was the same as the Golden Phoenix, same family running both restaurants I believe. Since Steve stepped down from Hanwah the chicken curry is the same boring bog standard you get anywhere. Will have to drive to the Golden Phoenix for our Chinese takeaway in future.

Nicely surprised and fully recommend Moving locally today was my first visit, very friendly and helpful staff. Covid precautions followed provided reassurance with service with a smile from masked staff / till screen in place / outside Queuing and delicious food, I ordered set dinner meal for one ‘A2’ - best sweet and sour chicken I have had - as above fully recommend. Too late for photos - I’d eaten them already !

We were looking for a Chinese Takeaway close to Bray and Hanwah had the best reviews, so we decided to give it a go. The shop was extremely clean and there was a friendly notice on the wall from the owner. The owner was very jolly, friendly and welcoming. The portions were very generous and the the food was very tasty and not greasy like some takeways can often be. Hanwah is good value and we would definitely return and recommend. Thank you.

best takeaway by far 15 years ago. now very expensive considering its on a council estate. smaller portions and menu has stayed the same for 15 years that I know of. nothing new from them. in my opinion Chinese takeaways are killing their business by being over priced and greedy. if they would do some kind of fast street food lunches then maybe people would not flock next door to the chippy which is half the price.

I'm 46 years old now and I have so say, I've never had a Chinese awakeaway like yours. Simon and I still talk about how good ur food is, just wish I could ship u to New Zealand. I can remember you when I was a kid and when dad brought from you. Steve, u are the best Chinese food I have ever tried and I've tried a lot! My partner and myself have known Steve for a long time and he's never let us down with his food the place is always clean and tidy and they are always welcoming to everyone.

I have been going to Hanwah for many years now and have introduced many of my friends to get their take away. The premises are clean, the service is great, the food is generous and always freshly prepared. The best also is the owner Steve - always friendly, jolly, wicked sense of humour - a joy to go there even for the smallest order!!!

Always enjoy getting my food from Hanwah. Steve is so friendly and always up for a conversation when you pick up your order/ go in and make an order. The food is always piping hot and fresh, never had any issues with Hanwah's food or service. Quality Chinese food .

We have known Steve for years and had many takeaways from him. Tonight was as ever exceptional and we rang him to tell him! Just a class above all of the others in the area - worth the trip everytime!

Tried Hanwah for the first time! Great, friendly service. I have some allergies and the guy assured me he would make the food fresh and leave out the ingredients I couldn’t eat. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, thanks!

We pick up our weekly takeaway every Friday evening. The food is excellent and funny enough all of our visitors appear at our house on Fridays! Funny, what? :)

Simply the best Chinese in Maidenhead. Steve is a really good guy as well. Always polite and great food also.

Lovely Chinese take away very close to my house . Seems to be widely known in Maidenhead and has a great reputation. The Chinese food is always delicious and Steve the owner is friendly, funny and always smiling. Would highly recommend this place . It's a take away service only you can phone through your order and it's normally ready within 15 minutes, it saves hanging around the shop. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

I am a fairly loyal customer since I lived in that neighbourhood. The owner works hard with his family and is always very polite and very attentive and he even remembers my favourites! I took my sister-in-law (a Chinese) to try their food once and she said it's very good, better than the average take-away. They also charge a decent price, cheaper than any other take-away in my area, and I give myself the trouble to travel 6 miles to Maidenhead just to buy their food. It's worth it!

This is a great Chinese takeaway, run by Steve, a very happy and friendly man who produces amazing Chinese food. Give it a go you won't be disappointed.

Yo no estaba demasiado interesado en conseguir comida para llevar china porque experiencias anteriores habían traído comida grasosa con poco o nada de sabor. Con Hanwah tuvimos una grata experiencia con pedir, con el acopio de los alimentos. . Y lo más importante, la comida estaba genial y no era el goteo de aceite. Sin duda para conseguir otra comida para llevar china de Hanwah mucho antes.

Used this loads before, but all a sudden they messed up the order, they gave us our money back eventually, tried again months later, we were told if there is a problem with your order, DON'T COME BACK, the guy was a very awful rude man

Went here as it is close to the hotel I am staying at on business, good menu, picked the crispy duck and spices chicken main, enjoyed both dishes, nice and spices, good value, quick service. I would use again.

This Chinese Takeaway serves lovely food but the quantity is not great and it is a little more expensive then others in the area.

I have been eating here for years and would recommend this takeaway to anyone. The only slight let down is that some dish's you can better at other place. Very good service :)

Don't go anywhere else! Your genial host Steve is the king of the Chinese takeaway (& multi-tasking) - excellent food & a very warm welcome awaits all! We have another Chinese take-away right on our doorstep in Maidenhead, but we always drive to Hanwah as it's the best in town. This is the example all others should follow!

After number of lovely meals from Hanwah, recently found I am intolerant to MSG (additive in a lot of Chinese food) when I asked Steve (owner) whether my meal could be prepared with the additive he was very helpful advising that some dishes are already pre prepared with it and was willing to let me know which ones this would be. Food is delicious and cooked freshly :)

My friend was viisted by food-past, vomiting all night, and I felt unwell but managed to keep the food down. Obviously cant prove that this was the cause, but as the only thing we had consumed in common was this take-away food from Hanwah - most likely this was the route-cause.Shame. please review food hygiene.

If you're in Berkshire and looking for a top notch Chinese, then look no further. Steve serves up not only excellent food, but also bundles of charm too!Prices are reasonable and the service is fast. He has the best chips I've ever had in any takeaway restaurant.

Steve provides great take away food at reasonable prices and the quality is above what you would normally find, but don't expect it to be restaurant standard.Thoroughly recommend the spicy chicken wings!
