Haka in Windsor and Maidenhead

Tonight was our first delivery from HAKA, we did a set meal for 3 and were extremely impressed on value for money ( plenty of prawns) and flavour (recommend the ribs) … perhaps the cashew chicken could have had a bit more colour but we will definitely be ordering again. Very happy.

We got a take away as we were feeling lazy and as a friend had recommended Haka we gave it a try. We had a mix of bits and loved everything we got, we ordered three rice and were surprised to find that they give big portions of rice rather than the small ones some restaurants do. We’ll be going back as we enjoyed the food and the quick turn around time too - about 10/15 minutes. Be warned you have to pay with cash so make sure to take some.

Best Chinese food in Maidenhead by far

Been going to the Haka for over 15 years but last night i ordered a takeaway and was told there would be an hour and a half wait which i was ok with. When i went to pick my order up 1 and a half hours later i was told that they had run out of some items i had ordered so was asked to changed some items, which i did, and was told it would take an extra 10 minutes. 30 minutes later my food order arrived. Whilst i was waiting in the shop for the extra 30 minutes it was obvious what was happening. It seems they now prioritise online home delivery orders over people who order and pick it up, like me, meaning other orders were being cooked instead of mine. Such a shame that they are ignoring customers who order direct and keep them waiting in the shop so they can fulfill online delivery orders instead to meet delivery times. Excellent food as always but not worth a 2 hour wait and having delivery orders taking priority over yours. Guess i will be finding another chinese takeaway from now on.

Food and portions excellent. This visit they forgot an item and no prawn crackers which is not the usual standard of service so will forgive and see what happens next visit. Otherwise we've.always been very happy customers and Haka is first choice for Friday night Chinese.

Better than average food, quick and easy.

We ordered from this Chinese place on a wim so we weren’t sure what to expect. But expectations were by far exceeded! Yummy food and friendly staff. Decent prices too - they only accept cash tho.

Moved to Maidenhead and had to find new places to eat. This was recommended and they were right. Very good food, friendly staff in a quiet location so parking is ok. Cash only though

Website stated they delivered. I called to place order and was told it’s collection only. That’s fine. Went to collect food to be told it was cash only! So drove 1.3 miles to nearest cash point that worked. Went back and food was cold so asked them to re cook it. They did this and called me in. I went in and they pulled all the food out of the bag opening all the containers asking me if it was hot enough! I told them there was no need to be sarcastic and all they had to do was inform me on the phone that it was cash only. I was told that was impossible as they have lots of regulars.. I got home and the seaweed was burnt and the food was awful. Will not be going back!! Shame on you! Time to touch up on your customer service

It was OK but I am ever so sorry but my wife and i really expected to be impressed and instead we found the food to be average at best. It is a busy longstanding business so many people must disagree with me. Try for yourself and see what you think

Maidenhead is particularly well served for Chinese takeaways and this is a good one. Good quality Chinese food at affordable prices. If it is a problem for you, even during Covid times they have not been accepting credit cards.

Haka Takeaway. I don't understand in this day and age why they only take cash. This is old fashioned and should be investigated by HMRC. Nonsense. I got there last night with my card as any normal business would take to be told we only take cash. not good.

Kung P.o chicken was so dry and over done it was inedible. No sauce. The pineapple was awful. I can only compare it to a take away leftover reheated in the microwave more than once. If it was not because I was travelling I would have taken it back. I had no time and it went straight in the bin...disgusting.

Great service and food! Still getting through menu but special fried rice + crispy chilli beef are my favourites right now. Rice is really tasty and crunchy beef is coated in flawless sauce.

We’ve ordered takeaway from Haka a few times since moving to the immediate area 10 months ago. They came highly recommended and we can see why! Food is tasty, portions are large and filling. We like to order a few starters, mains and sundries like rice and prawn crackers which always go down well in our household. The menu has a large selection of different dishes (as you would expect) and there are options to cater for everyone! Whenever we go to collect our order, staff are lovely and greet everyone warmly. We were sad for Haka during Lockdown when all food places had to close for quite some time, but were very happy to see them open and ready for business again as soon as they were allowed to.

I’ve lived in many parts of the country & this is the best sesame prawn toast I have EVER had Spring rolls are great too. special fried rice & chicken chow mein the kids love Always quick Always correct order (you’d be surprised how many can get it wrong) can’t fault it

Having used Haka for over twenty years I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal. Even my family that live out Maidenhead travel to the Haka and I know of others who travel to the Haka. Probably the best ever chinese food shop in UK. Long may it last.

I like this place, it does good food. But honestly dont know how it survives in this day and age. Cash only, (and not near a cash point) no delivery and no website. Not even a simple landing page with a menu. I really wish they would do more vegetarian too. They don't even have a vegetarian 'section' like most places do. (Good luck if you're vegan!!) PLEASE update yourselves.

I am a long term resident of the area. I believe this to be the best chinese takeaway in Maidenhead. They are not on any of the home delivery "chains" but I have always found them to be well worth the visit. The BBQ spare ribs are to die for!

It seems popular but I wonder why? At our party of five most food was not eaten - it just wasn't nice and the establishment it comes from might be enough to put you off.

Not the most glamorous of places but the staff are always friendly and efficient and the food of a decent quality. Prices are sensible too.

Cash only! The chicken was over cooked and the crispy seaweed was burnt, not likely to visit again. Steve at the Hanwah was on holiday, so had to try somewhere else. Not the haka next time.

The first time I tried this place i was pretty disappointed. But i always give takeaways a couple of tries, because they tend to be good at some dishes and rubbish at others. For my second try, i went for prawns in a spicy black bean sauce; it was very tasty. Staff are still friendly and quick. Prawn crackers still aren't up to scratch but that's hardly the end of the world.

Eat here a few times and had very good experiences in this takeaway, love the food but personally I love the chicken chow mein with prawn crackers those are delicious! Keep the good work. Will be ordering here again when wanted Chinese food!

HAKA is a good Chinese takeaway. Their food is nice. I have enjoyed their dinner. Good selection of dishes but parking outside can be difficult as it is close to St. Marks Hospital.

Wonderful Chinese food, very tasty and served up quickly even when they're very busy. It's a small place so you can see into the kitchen while you wait and it's a buzz off activity until your (always delicious) order is ready. Highly recommended

Absolutely love the haka, I've been using it for years and the staff never disappoint, I now live in surrey, and can't find a take away to match, and quiet often make the 64 mile round trip just to collect our food, that's how great I rate it

I have used Haka so many times over the years and it's one of those places you know you are going to get a great takeaway. Never had a bad takeaway from here, only downfalls are they don't deliver, only take cash and no online menu or website... But can't fault the food and quality!

With 4 or 5 staff in the kitchen you’d expect reasonably fast service- nope. The kitchen is small - I can see through into it from the counter. Disappointed to see frozen ingredients being used. Also fresh pre cooked ingredients stored in the open on worktops. Food was hot but bland They don’t take cards - cash only

Good food, but difficulties finding a menu have often made me go with another place. Please Haha management, set up a website! A simple site with a menu and phone number is fine, online ordering even better!

It's ok. Have had good and bad food here over the years. It is a bit of a unique building for a takeaway and always make me want to poke my head in and place an order.

I used to love the food here but had a takeaway recently and was VERY disappointed. The chow mein was very dry and the spring rolls were actually inedible! They were the worst spring rolls that I have ever tried to eat. After one mouthful I gave up. Total waste of money. Wish I hadn't ordered them. They were huge and very greasy and the filling was horrible.

I have used Haka on several occasions and they are always pretty good. This time my Special Prawns dish was a bit dry. It needed extra sauce. The Chicken Chow Mein was large and tasty. Another good meal.

The title of my review says it all, it's great Chinese particularly the Duck, GO! They only take cash & NO cards, bear this in mind! There's no online menu either, so pick one up on collecting your food - which is beautifully packed up.

A large menu and everything I've had has been good - slightly above average perhaps. There is often a big queue and it has a good reputation. They take cash only and are expensive.
