Hampton Inn in Canterbury

My first visit and very impressed, choice of dishes and presentation excellent and very reasonably priced. Staff were all friendly, attentive and welcoming even though the pub was packed. They had made a great effort with St Patrick's Day theme and the chef had several dishes with Irish connected names. Apparently they will do takeaway which could be useful for beach hut owners. We will return to try the Sunday Roast. Altogether very impressed

Great spot on beach front, get there for sunset! Wonderful, friendly staff and service. Food is ok, normal pub fare with specials board. Nice pub vibe and was very busy on the Friday night a large group of us visited. We were well looked after. Worth a visit 👍

2nd time I've come here food outstanding and service we went early evening and got a table with fantastic view of sunset as well can't wait to return

Love The Hampton. Had an early dinner. The pub was quite busy with a lovely atmosphere. Staff are friendly and attentive. A very good selection on the menu but also the specials board. I had their burger and hubby had steak n ale pie and chips. It was so good. 100% recommend. Note: best to book

Consider this lovely traditional Kentish pub after a walk by the sea. Pub grub - good selection of snacks/mains/ sweets & vegetarian/meat options. Staff attentive & friendly. We had 2 Jacket potatoes with tuna & side salad, Decaf flat white coffee & lime & soda for around £18. Reasonable prices, clean & lovely sea views. Outside seating too. We ate at around 13.00. Would recommend booking, pub pretty busy for a Sunny Tuesday. Food served quickly, we did not feel hurried to leave our table.

A great dining experience and one of the best pub meals I’ve had in quite a while. The steak and kidney pie and chips were delicious and the vegetables were served in a separate dish- a nice touch. The chocolate and pecan pie dessert was tasty too and the Master Brew tasted like beer should taste. All this combined with friendly, helpful service and stunning views over the sea made for a dining opportunity not to be missed. This isa popular establishment and deservedly so. I’ll be back! We visited the venue for lunch, and I’m so glad we did. The staff were lovely, and the food was really tasty. My Mum even said it was the best fish and chips she had had. I also enjoyed my Peri Peri chicken burger. The food was fresh and the pub had a nice chilled ambience.

The staff are incredible. The place was packed and nothing was too much trouble. Must go back

Lovely pub with the most beautiful view. The perfect place to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset. Staff could be a little friendlier, but that didn't spoil our visit. Will definitely be back!

Dog friendly pub with really friendly staff! Plenty of water bowls and outdoor taps for dogs to have a drink. Staff were really kind, and dried my dog's jacket on a radiator whilst we ate lunch, due to her going for a swim in the sea beforehand. Very friendly atmosphere and perfect place to get out of the cold!

Can always be sure of a good meal at the Hampton

Have always liked the Hampton, we got lucky and it wasnt too busy. Sometimes its crazy in there. We ordered food a baguette for me and a jacket pot for my friend. Good food and good service.. the young girl at the bar was great and knew what she was doing. A nice place to warm up and have a half and some food.

We had friends down for Christmas and we had 2 great meal. We also had a fantastic new year’s night there your staff amazing a great night 🥳

Best Pub Sunday roast outside of my own kitchen lolllllll Seriousy, a great pub. Lovely atmosphere. The meat options for the roast are great. There's fish and "V" options aswell. Vegetable selection was good and piping hot. Couldn't fault it at all. Left with very full bellies. Staff are friendly and very polite 100%recommend and will return

Fifteen of us went for Sunday lunch. Most had a roast dinner, turkey,beef, or pork one had sea bass , one veggie Wellington and three nut roast so a good spread off the menu. We has a child with us who has the small appetite meal. Meals came with loads of veg, carrot, swede,green beans,creamed leek, broccoli, roast spuds, and extra gravy. Staff were efficient and super friendly. Puddings were nice all served with Shepherd & Neame ales. Highly recommended. Would recommend pre booking as they get very busy.

We were a family party of 15, including a toddler. As we were visiting at a busy time ( Sunday lunch) and were such a large party, I booked our table a few weeks earlier . Jemma emailed with the menu a week before our visit, and I emailed the menu choices for the mains to her a few days before. When we arrived at the Hampton, they had managed set up one large table for us, and provided a high chair for the baby. They also accommodated one extra diner than we originally planned for with no fuss at all. It's no mean feat to get 14 dinners out on the table at roughly the same time but the staff were brilliant - everyone's meals were piping hot, and everyone got what they had ordered. The staff could not have been more efficient or helpful - they responded to a couple of extra requests for condiments and a few other things cheerfully. I think that all 15 plates went back to the kitchen more or less empty ( and the dessert plates!) - which says it all really ! Well done Hampton Inn and thankyou for making what could have been a stressful day for us much easier.

Always so busy (not a complaint).

Us and friends were booked in at The Hampton in June but due to Covid one of our party had to cancel. We eventually got a date in the diary and yesterday the six of us finally got together. What a superb time we had thanks to the great staff and fabulous food. Nothing is too much trouble and the atmosphere is simply the best with smiley happy staff and diners. The food is scrumptious and beautifully presented - every dish was perfect! Thank you so much to everyone at The Hampton for a special dining experience with our friends. We are really looking forward to our next visit!

Being an ethnic male of an ethnicity deemed as widely acceptable to discriminate against/be racist towards, I felt extremely uncomfortable being here, both due to the way the locals looked at me and how the female who took my order treated me. Tone of voice, facial expressions etc. It's widely known females have extreme hatred towards my race, and most males of colour, choosing to only date white guys, and often times, females can't even fake niceness due to their disgust by our looks. As was the case here. I believe her name is Jenna, but that might not be her name as any staff can use the tills logged in with any staff details. She's blonde, fairly tall. At least from memory she's blonde. Food was OK. Not amazing. Had chips here before and they tasted nasty. Possibly old rancid or overly used oil? Haven't tried any of their mains.

The chef’s (Tracy) attention to detail was exceptional and the liver and bacon was the best I’ve ever had. It was my son‘s birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it special, we are looking forward to going back

THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE VARIETY ON THE MENU. I HAD ONE OF THE EXCELLENT FISH DISHES ALONG WITH A LOVELY GLASS OF WHITE WINE. OTHERS, AN ARRAY OF TASTEY DISHES. EVERYONE VERY HAPPY. GREAT PLACE WITH SEA VIEWS. GREAT FOOD AND BEERS ETC. STREET PARKING. GREAT SERVICE. WHAT MORE CAN ONE WANT.

Had a really nice evening meal there. Very friendly and helpful staff who found us a table (we hadn’t booked) and were incredibly courteous. Meals are competitively priced and cooked to order, so you might have to wait a while but it will be piping hot and fresh when served, which in my opinion is well worth a short wait. There is also a good range of beers and ciders on offer. Highly recommended.

Visited for lunch and managed to get a table for 2 after just walking in. Great views of the coast line even if it was a little overcast. It was my first time eating at the pub, and I was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. My mum (93) visits at least once a month and is well looked after. I opted for the belly pork which was most enjoyable and Mum had the Lamb chops. I would definitely recommend a visit, but I would say book a table as it was pretty busy at lunchtime.

Lovely local pub, friendly service

Don't know what happened but my rating for this place has gone down hill!!. Constant smell of people smoking from outside of the door from the moment we walked in until we left. That alone is enough to be put off. Only offer the more expensive dishes in the evening, so if you only wanted something like a jacket potato, that wasn't available ... salad tasted musty and gritty, portion small.

I was attending a wake and the place was packed, they coped extremely well with the numbers, this was David's favourite place.

A bit dated but the food was good

Relaxed, unpretentious friendly place. Great views of the sea. I had delicious white bait (so much better than the standard stuff) and a delicious smoked mackerel - perfect smoking, perfect cut.

We never got to try the food! As we arrived at 2pm, got the menus but were not made aware that they stopped serving at 2:30 pm there were 7 of us! By the time we made up our minds we were informed that there was no more service.

We required somewhere we could meet as family was down from London and my parents used this venue before. We need to take a dog and these guys are dog friendly so that ticked a big box for sure. Outstanding service and food.

Not the smartest of pubs could do with a makeover , staff were polite and friendly but seemed a little young not quite on the ball, food was just mediocre.

Very friendly atmosphere. Only had some complimentary chips and roast potatoes as part of a charity pub quiz, but they were really very nice, also an unexpected surprise.

A nice cute pub on the corner of the pier area, with friendly staff. It was quiet inside given the beautiful weather outside but the cold beer was welcomed. Great views out over the water. We didn’t get to try the food, but maybe we will return to try this one day. We believe it is a Shepherd Neame pub although when paying by debit card it said “Hampton by Hilton” which confused us with any link to the Hilton hotel group.

We have Sunday Lunch almost every week at The Hampton Inn. The home-cooked roasts are brilliant: good size portions, plenty of veg, more if you want it. Good range of puds, lovely atmosphere, what more could you want?! Carol.

Yet again a super dining experience. We had a day out at the coast and went to the Hampton Inn for lunch. Everything about it it was excellent. The food was freshly cooked, piping hot from a good menu with lots of specials of the day. We were so very well looked after by Morgan, Elise and Darrell. They delivered friendly helpful and efficient customer service, it was very refreshing to get such good service. I can highly recommend a visit here if you fancy a pub lunch. Parking is easy by the way. Thanks again to all involved.

It was on my bucket list to have a drink here. The place is always bubbling and hard to find an empty seat. Today we were lucky. We had gin and lemonade. They were generous with the fruit in it. What a wonderful experience enjoying a drink in the sunshine here while looking at the sea. The inside area is really small. Pre booking for groups are recommended and also worth to call if they aren't fully booked. We only had drink, can't say anything about the food. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

We have been to the Hampton many times, and have never had a bad meal. To be honest, our meals have been exceptional. I personally have fish each time I go, and I've never, ever had fish cooked so well in any restaurant I've been to. They certainty have very talented chefs. Well done Hampton, we love coming here, always great meal and staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Had family visiting from out of town so decided on Hampton Inn for lunch. Two of us had the fish and chips which was so disappointing as the batter was soggy and mushy. Upon mentioning this to our waitress, she commented, yes someone else said so too! That was it. End of conversation. We have had great meals here before so it was quite surprising how our complaint was dealt with.

I like this pub alot and appreciate they are very busy best book a table. However today we did not and unfortunately told they did not have any availability. This was about 2.30pm. However we sat had a drink and there were 2 x tables set and a 4 unpaid up. Kitchen stops and 3.30 and these tables never go used. Little sad could have been more flexible. Also only food was on board and no menu so choices limited.

I had a lovely lunch with my daughter, both meals were lovely, very clean area. Service was very good, attentive without being pushy.

Nice pub at the pier. We had a beer and a wine and sat outside to look at the marvelous clouds. People inside were nice and helpful, they did a great job because it was very busy with people dining inside the pub .

The Hampton Inn was a delight. Having walked along the coast path from swalecliff and with no reservation for lunch we were met by smiling, cheerful staff who made us really welcome. The food was amazing. A great menu and about 10 'specials' on the board. The prices were very reasonable. It was the best meal my daughter and I had on our holiday. I would recommend a visit. I had skate wing with prawn and caper sauce and saute potatoes followed by 3 scoops of sorbet ice cream and a glass of Pino grigio. Great value and delicious Thank you.

I arranged a group meal for a work colleague's leaving do with Jemma who could not have been more helpful and efficient over email. Nothing was too much to ask, from sorting out pre-orders, allowing us to put decorations on the table, to accommodating our larger group number. The food and view was all excellent, everyone said they had a fab time and wanted to come back again outside of work! Judging by the full pub, empty plates and happy faces with lovely staff I cannot recommend this place enough!

Despite the appalling weather this is a clearly a popular pub. There is no garden as such but the pub is dog friendly and the staff helpful. The place was packed with people having lunch as it was the Bank Holiday. The menu is quite extensive but I found my dish disappointing. It was advertised as Moroccan Nut Roast. This was NOT a nut roast. I didn't find a single nut in my dish and it certainly wasn't roasted. I would describe this as a mixture of rice, sultanas and spices placed on the plate in a mould. The vegetables were freshly prepared but my gravy was also a touch on the chilly side. I wish I had chosen something else from the vegetarian menu.

Followed by (gluten free) lemon meringue roulade... just ask about the range of GF options. Relaxing and friendly, overlooking the sea. We'll be back!

Coming on a Saturday night we read the reviews that recommended booking, and we were glad we did, as the venue was packed. We were staying nearby so walked here, which enabled an extra couple of Shepherd Neame beers. A mixture of couples and large groups filled every table, a few well behaved dogs hid under them, keeping the team very busy. But they all responded in a very friendly way and, despite this being a first visit, felt very much like it was our local. The menu on line doesn’t do justice to the wide variety of items avaiable as listed on their specials board. We had three courses of superbly cooked food with decent sized portions, and were allowed to leave a nice gap to give us room for pudding. Overall a very enjoyable evening. There is plenty of car parking nearby, and if you need a taxi home they are happy to call for you. I would highly recommend a trip here…but don’t forget to book to be sure of a table.

What a little gem! Sunday roast was delicious and very reasonably priced for the portion sizes. We both opted for pork roasts, which came with a great selection of side vegetables that you help yourself to. Desserts were also extremely tempting... we both found a little extra room for those. 😂 The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. So warm and welcoming, and each gave exceptional service from bar service to the table service The pub itself is in a fantastic location and what a view!!! From the outside, you may not think it holds much inside, but don't judge a book by its cover!! Be sure to book ahead, as it was totally full when we arrived, and I could definitely see why. Will 100% be coming back!

We had such a great time on 7 Mile Beach…. And, I want to give a special shout out to Fanny at the front desk (she gave us amazing destinations for restaurants and other points of interest) and to Rocky for his help ( he made sure we got where we needed on time).. such a great trip!

This hostelry can get very busy so well worth booking. Food was excellent with some great specials on the chalk board. Staff were super friendly and attentive but not overpowering. If you're looking for proper pub grub this is well worth a visit if in the area.
