I stayed in the line to order take away this weekend I guess I was the lucky one as it took me max 10 min to get my order. I got haddock and chips and it was very tasty.

Great chips and excellent location just two minutes from the beach and I have to say, really friendly staff. However, no good if you’re vegan and or gluten free. Would be great to see some gluten free buns to go with a veggie burger, or gluten free buttered mushrooms/onion rings etc.

They charge you extra for sauce. 60p for one tiny sachet of ketchup is a joke. How can you sell chips and then charge for the sauce !

Very good. People queue all the time. Always a good sign eh. Especially if they're locals. Fish fresh and cooked when ordered. Fair prices for a tourist area by the sea.

Lovely fish cake and chips the best I've had in a long time and my daughter said the savaloy was the best she had ever tried , it was nice and clean in the shop and the service was brilliant, I can see why they have a lot of custom as they was very friendly staff and very helpful.

We were a group of seven and staff could not have been more helpful, moving tables chairs and taking our orders promptly. The food was delicious and proportions amazing. I will definitely want to come again.

Down for a couple of days; decided we had to have f&c while at the seaside. What a FANTASTIC choice. 4 of us had various options but all were so lovely. Great variety to choose from, huge portions and very tasty. Some of the best f&c we’ve ever had!

Nice enough fish and chip shop. Good value for money, enormous portions- would recommend one supper between two unless you’re really really hungry! Not the best frying I’ve ever come across- the batter was ok but nothing to write home about. All a bit too oily.

I felt very pressured to leave the premises as the workers gave underlying tones of racism towards me and my family not impressed would never come back

Probably wouldn't have reviewed a takeaway meal normally, but both my wife and I said it was the best fish and chips we have had from a takeaway - not greasy or oily at all. We can definitely recommend Ossie's in Whitstable town centre and we hope to return again soon.

Ordered a bag of chips and waited for 20 minutes while they served all the seated customers. Ridiculous will never return.

Haddock had a lovely, light, crispy batter; chips were perfect; curry sauce was a good consistency. Staff were accommodating and food was priced fairly.

Ordered and paid 2 small ones, received only one. Didn’t see it until we were on the beach already. Packaging not in a cardboard box so was a bit tricky to eat as well.

Ossies is hands down the best fish and chips shop in Whitstable and a firm family favourite over the last decade. The staff are always lovely and recognise regular visitors - everyone works hard but always makes you feel well served even when it is super busy. To eat in is a very classic fish and chips shop experience - Formica and chunky crockery - a great vintage experience and very welcome on a cold/wet day. They continue to impress trip advisor reviewers and proudly display their 'best' chippy reviews. I have to say there is nothing like grabbing a bag of chips, heading down to the sea and enjoying a little sunset food - magic.

Fish good but chips average and the curry sauce the consistency of Evian.

Visited twice during our week long stay in Whitstable. First time we got the wrong order, the fish we did get was overcooked and very thin, badly in need of seasoning. Went in tonight to get a small fish for my granddaughter (£6.50), it was dry, overcooked, and lacked any flavour at all, the chips not much better, the dog had it.

Two of us had cod and chips and ate in. Fish was beautifully cooked, not oily at all, which is quite often a complaint at my local chippy. Service was friendly and quick. Only slight let down was the toilet facilities- but minor. Will definitely use again. Well done Ossies

Went with my family of 5 was asked to come back even though there was a table for 6 available. Made to feel very uncomfortable standing in the door way with all the other customers looking at us. Really horrible and unfriendly atmosphere.

We had the most amazing Haddock and chips here today. The staff helped my wife and me who is disabled thank so much.

Great customer service. We came at the end of the night so we bought items there were left in the cabinet. The man serving us was very helpful and gave us a smaller scoop of chips to eat while we waited. Very happy with the service and quality of food.

Absolutely loved it here. Old school chip shop vibe. The scampi is delicious! Sat in and the table service was brilliant. Our waiter was really smiley and polite. Big potions and a proper chippy.

All fur coat and no knickers ( plenty batter with little fish content ). Seated clients get served first even if you were in the queue before they were. Cash only sign also dubious in my opinion.

Food very good Unsure about a tub of uncooked chip on the outside of the counter for the customers to cough and sneeze over , with the gents used tissue being added to it as he thought it was a bin.

Really good local fish and chip shop. The staff are really friendly and the food always tastes fresh - really good chips - hot and crispy outside, and fluffy inside. The batter on the fish isn't too greasy, crisp and fresh tasting. Also quite generous portions too. We go here quite a lot as the food is so good. Quite often if you have to wait for something to be cooked they'll give you some free chips whilst you wait. Definitely recommend!

Can't beat their chips, best I've had in Kent! We always have to stop by when we are in Whitstable. Dining in can be a little cramped if you pop in during the holidays, but you are always met with friendly, helpful staff.

Great place to stop off for a bite to eat. Food was fresh and well cooked (we both ordered cod and chips). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit if you're in Whitsatble. Recommended!

Ok now I have had some good Fish n Chips in my time, but this place has to be the best. We were recommended by Harriet from the Spacemask company and she was spot on. We sat in, and I believe it's the only way to eat at this location. The fish was fresh and beautifully cooked. Chips, crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Absolutely brilliant and 100% recommend.

A sign in the shop says it was voted Kent's best fish and chip shop... I can see why. Delicious!

Visited today for lunch with friends from my bowls club. We had a plaice & chips, cod & chips & a qtr pound cheese burger & chips and imho everything was cooked very very well. My friends really liked their fish & I thought the burger was great. The chips with the meals were cooked to perfection and the best I’ve had in a long time. Be hungry when you visit Ossies as you get a great size meal for your money.

Had cod and chips. Fish fairly dry, batter crispy maybe even a little hard. Chips decent if you like that chip shop style. Overall not bad but nothing to write home about. Had the the food not come out of a warmer probably would have been much better.

I was super hungry and I found this place and order two chicken and mushroom pies!! Fast service and taste super good !!

Was going to chips round to Dock but decided to look around 1st and found this place and I'm so glad I did must be the best chips I have ever had and they don't skimp on the size of portions you get had batterd sausage and chips and a spam fritter the size of the fritter was large had to bring it on a separate plate and the batterd sausage was on top of the chips. I can highly recommend this place for price and quantity.

A SCAM! We ordered two LARGE fish and they gave us two medium fish and when we pointed it out, they reluctantly gave us a half of a small fish each to make up for it. However, my friend ordered the same thing and got an ACTUAL large sized fish. Absolutely disappointing and what a total scam!!

A total scam!! We ordered 2 large fish and was given 2 small fish instead; when we pointed it out, they gave us a “generous” 1/2 of small fish to make up for it. In addition, the fish was small and soggy, absolutely disappointing However, my friend ordered the same thing as us and got a normal large sized fish. How absolutely unprofessional. Please check carefully before visiting this shop.

The best fish and chip place I've had the pleasure of eating. Massive portions for good prices. Great owner and staff too! Also, I haven't been able to find saveloy in Canada so it was a rare treat for me.

Funny to see the shock reaction when we order fish only, no chips. He came back just to check we had all our marbles. The cod was great, cooked perfectly, and if we'd had chips our guts would have been over filled.

Went to Ossie’s based on reviews, also the fact that I phoned a few fish and chip shops and they were the only ones who used fresh fish - and with a fresh fish market just down the road you’d have thought the majority would have.. In my opinion the reality didn’t live up to the reviews. I’d asked for loads of salt and vinegar, (could barely taste any), the batter was quite thick with crunchy lumps, chips average . My husband waited and collected it, drove back to the beach, only to find they hadn’t put the drinks we’d purchased in the bag . Wouldn’t rush back

This shop is one of the best I ever been to in UK. The staff are so lovely, smiling and helpful and they offered us free chips because we had to wait a bit. The food is very delicious and authentic. If you every in Whitstable you should never miss it. Tried the fish and chips and scampi 🍤 and it was perfect 😍 The prices are very reasonable less than 10£ for the meal

We bought takeaway cod and chips and a huge portion of chips on Weds pm. We ate on the seafront and couldn’t have been happier with our food. The chips were well cooked and tasty. The cod was fresh, white and completely delicious. This is the best Fish and Chip shop in Whitstable.

Super slow service especially since there wasn’t a rush. Paid £4.20 for a cheesy chips and got less chips than the £2.50 cone of chips. The tray of chips wasn’t even full. Terrible value for money, and chips not all that great. Would NOT recommend.

Very nice customer service from the man at the till, rated service 5 stars now. The food was dreadful instead. Very oily both the chips and the cod, the fish had a funny smell, the coating was very oily , got food poisoning straight after I had a few bites. We did not finish the portion, would have brought it back to the store if I didn’t get SO ill. Sorry won’t come again.

They have some great people working there, we do order from there a lot and we do eat in also. They do us grilled fish for 1 of the kids, which he really likes, but there was no fuss from them they just sorted it for us and kept is happy. They dont take too long to bring your food. Stopped in for lunch , and as there was 9 of us , the staff coped very well . We didn't have to wait ages for our food , generous portions , and very nice.

Nothing special. Not sure why people say best fries...they were ok. Been to Forge earlier that day and fries were really good tasting in there. Dinning in much more expensive than take away. In general ok place to go if you really hungry otherwise can cook better at home.

If you do a takeaway, the prices are cheaper. If you dine in on an average £3.50 is added on each item. For example, take away price for cod is £8.60 and dine-in is £12.50. No card payments are taken which is another downside. The cleanliness isn't up to mark especially when they charge additional money for dine in example, the tables are sticky, the chips are all over the places etc. In addition, the food is hyped, I've eaten better fish & chips.

Fresh fish and chips, generous potions.

We enjoyed the food but we were surprised at a couple of issues with hygiene such as a rather large bin wheeled through to the cafe containing chips ready to cook but no lid to keep them covered bumping it into a couple of the tables and chairs no apology was heard plus One member of staff sat on the part of the counter used for wrapping and selling the food.

Had fish and chips in the restaurant - haddock, cod and plaice - all of which were really great in terms of quality and taste. Ok, the restaurant isn't particularly cozy but the service tries very hard to find a place for everyone. You should be really hungry for the portions - you also have to really like fries, because there are (almost too) many of them😉

Family outing for fish and chips, a side of scampi and a mug of tea. Perfectly cooked and well priced. Freindly staff. What more could you want?
