The food here is fairly nice, although can be quite hit and miss. The Coffee is good and generally a nice atmosphere. Although I’ll probably remain a customer here, mostly out of convenience, I felt compelled to write this review as I think management should be aware one of their staff members delivers a very poor service. I haven’t been served by this person before, however when I popped in this morning, and politely requested a particular table (for a specific reason) her attitude completely changed. There was only one other customer in there for the duration, may I add, so it was clearly no inconvenience. She acted completely dismissive towards me after that and made me feel awkward and unwelcome. I hope I don’t have to be served by her again, and it’s a shame considering generally the service is ok.

A warm welcome as soon as you come through the door. Excellent service. I had the falafel. They were superb. You don’t often get good, fresh falafel in the UK. The hummus was a bit paltry but it was also delicious. The coffee was not great. It would be nice to have water on the table. A wonderful cafe, excellent menu.

Second visit, first was a few years ago and much better then. Both times I have been sat upstairs but this time service was slow and we felt forgotten about. We had to ask or go and help ourselves to cutlery, glassware etc. Toilets on ground floor out do order. Might have better service if sat downstairs. Food was good, nice quality ingredients. Bloody Mary a bit weak, coffee also nice. In total we sat at 11am and didn’t get food until 12:15 which felt a little bit too long. A shame but decor and vibe are nice. Maybe a less busy time or day (we went for weekend brunch) the service would match the quality of food. A side note, family / kid friendly which is good for upstairs as out of the way. A kid cupboard is included which is a great idea but if you’re looking for an adult only brunch with mates, request to be sat downstairs for a more grown up vibe.

Really not the best. The staff are trying for sure and everyone is pleasant but the breakfast food just isn’t up to scratch. Not only this, it isn’t uniform. We had two of the same breakfast and the contents varied which really shouldn’t happen. I had half a tomato and my wife had 3 half’s. My egg was cooked to within an inch of its life and the other one, 40% of it could be rescued. We had some cinnamon brioche too and this was the winner. The centre of it anyway. All around was burnt and stale, but the centre was very nice. Service charge is also added to the bill automatically which bugs me a little as we tipped on top and didn’t realise until we left that we doubled up on it. Had the food been incredible we wouldn’t have minded but because it wasn’t I felt a little hard done by. Oh well, you live and learn. Plenty of other places to have breakfast in Whitstable and I would suggest trying those first.

A note for the manger(s): your staff working the door / coffee area on bank holiday Monday lost you customers for life. The eye rolling, attitude and just overall mood was all unnecessary. Thankfully the person behind me saw the staff member (young woman, black hair) rolling her eyes at me behind my back and told me. I’ve been here a few times before but never again. Your staff need manners.

Interesting …not . Seems this cafe is very hit and miss .We booked a table here and took our dog . Not really dog friendly …they say they are but really just a ploy ..Need to be a little more honest on that one. Staff seemed disinterested ,would not say friendly service.lots of staff around coffee area , so drinks served quickly but then a big , big gap .45 minutes to wait for a breakfast and had to ask when it might be delivered. Very slow staff in open kitchen , never seen bread sliced so slowly ??? thought maybe it will be great and the wait worthwhile ..no not the case .I had the forager breakfast , seems the forager had a bad day out , 1 mushroom mmm could do better .My partner had they special breakfast bacon ,sausage etc , 1 sausage only .Could do better on many things .Personally not worth a second visit ,there is a cafe just down the road on the left side …much better from service to food to dog friendly

Appalled is an understatement! Came for a breakfast this morning and waited to be seated for far too long. Staff walked past me as if they were ignoring me and when it did eventually come to seating I was greeted very unenthusiastically. Once seated, I noticed the table hadn’t been cleared and included the following: an empty box for some kind of children’s play set, an empty water bottle, and to top it all off, A USED DUMMY! GROSS! The table was cleared eventually but without any apology and was not wiped clean. After the food order was taken, it took nearly an hour for the food to arrive. While waiting, I noticed children of one of the waitresses helping to serve the food. I can appreciate these are children, but I do not enjoy seeing them touching food on plates and handling cutlery incorrectly. A restaurant is not an ideal setting for a ‘bring your kid to work day’, even during the summer holidays! This was an absolutely disgusting experience at Farm and Harper and I shall not be returning any time soon.

Was visiting Whitstable and had brunch with my friend. He had the full English (Famous Farmer) while I had the Three Little Pigs. The cafe was relatively busy but service was quite slow. Our food arrived before the coffees as there weren’t enough flat white mugs but the coffee was good. I had the Three Little Pigs which was served in a brioche bun that was quite dry. The black pudding was slightly under cooked, cheese portion was pretty small and sausage patty was a little dry. The cafe set up is pretty hipster but the food lets the place down.

Popped in for a coffee and decided to also go for the Brioche toast. Unfortunately service after ordering was really slow, three coffees all brought with long time gaps in between, and the two flat whites beared little resemblance to each other. Served in plastic cups, one with no saucer as they had apparently run out of plates. We gave up on waiting for the toast as we had finished the coffees. Then when it was mentioned at the till, the manager said it was my fault as I’d only said we were wanting coffee when asking about a table so we were not warned that there was a delay on food, but this same lady took our food order, so why were we not warned then.. not happy at attitude to customers or service and sadly we won’t be returning.

Booked for breakfast. We were shown upstairs, which had a lovely window seat overlooking the street. We both had hot house salmon. It wasn’t quite as we expected, thinking the hot smoked salmon would be more of the ‘flaky’ cooked variety as opposed to it being the same texture as normal ‘smoked’ salmon. That said, we love both types, so it's not an issue. The eggs were perfectly poached, and it was very enjoyable, but at nearly £14 each, not great value..toasted perhaps a little too much too.

Farm & Harper is a true hidden gem! Behind its unassuming exterior an absolute delight awaits. I had lunch here with my mum recently; we enjoyed every bite of our delicious lunches. Goats cheese salad for her and the mushroom burger and mac & cheese for me. After spotting the side on the pass ready to go for someone else I knew I had to have it! When I say the mac & cheese is heavenly, I'm not playing this down, it is simply divine, and I regularly daydream about it! Even my mother who is not a fan of the dish generally, couldn't resist tucking into it. Gooey, melty, super cheesy goodness in every single bite. My only complaint is that it's not offered in a bigger portion as a main with some garlic bread on the side! The whole flat mushroom in the burger was breaded and deep fried and then added to a bun with a host of complimentary condiments including kimchi and made for a delightful eat. It's a family run business and you can feel the love and passion in every detail of it. We spent some time chatting to the owner who was absolutely lovely, with her grown children manning the kitchen, we heard how her younger daughter can be found helping out front of house during school holidays and weekends. Just a lovely afternoon out with fantastic food. Highly, highly recommended and will definitely be back!

I used to come here regularly, however on the last visit I noticed something massively with the way it was run both in terms of the food quality and the service levels. We came in as a group of 4 adults and 3 toddlers. Ordered coffees and a few burgers and some prawns on toast. For the most part, the food was good except for 2 of the burgers which were far too overcooked and the guys who ordered ended up only being able to eat a few bites out of them. We informed the waitress who was clearing the table about this. When we went to pay, we said to the waitress at the till that we thought that the 2 burgers should be taken off the bill as they weren’t eaten (the total bill would have still come to over £80) The waitress then went straight to the manager who came over to ask what the problem was. When we told him we were given a response of “well, I’ve had the food here and I can tell you that it’s incredible”. When we said that the burgers were far too overcooked (one beef and one chicken burger) he just said that the chicken has to be cooked through. After arguing that it was just too overcooked and dry, he simply walked away and told the waitress only to remove one of the burgers. I’m not usually one to give poor reviews, but the attitude of the manage alone was completely unacceptable. Having worked in catering and customer service, it is your responsibility to listen to the feedback of your customers, and not to be arrogant or rude. I do hope that no one else is unlucky enough to be faced with this kind of situation, but this was enough for all of us to never return to this place.

Visited for breakfast & was disappointed with the food. Reasonable quality ingredients in the farmer’s breakfast but definitely not freshly cooked. Bacon had been cooked way ahead of it being served, it was decent quality but had become dry & chewy due to being kept in a food warmer. The fried egg was also not fresh & become rubbery & over cooked. Plastic cups for hot drinks was also an odd choice in my opinion as they looked stained & worn, decent coffee loses something when it’s served in such poor quality cups.

Food is good but small, wine was not good and we waited 30 minutes without any commercial gesture

This used to be our favourite cafe in whitstable but sadly its changed ownership and the quality of the food is nowhere near as good. The legendary mac and cheese is now just tasteless, as is everything else we had. You can tell they are cutting corners. Some of the staff are nice enough but some are really unfriendly....What a shame, we won't be back.

I went for brunch, it was delicious! We had Dirty Vegan Bun and I had Avocado on toast. Super fast and friendly service. I really enjoyed my matcha and went back later on for a take out! The lady who served me was super friendly and she made it sooooo good! My bf enjoyed his coffee too! Look forward to going back.

A nice selection on the breakfast menu at reasonable prices. Getting a table booking is strongly advised as the place is popular but I was able to get a table for three as a walk in. Staff were very busy and forgot to bring cutlery when serving our food but this was quickly rectified. The atmosphere was lovely and I took the queue outside as we were leaving to be a good sign. Would definitely come back here again.

Menu offers something a bit different. Food always delicious. A little cramped and very busy, so can be noisy. Space upstairs.

One of the best Avocado toasts I’ve ever had 🥑 and the coffee is fantastic as well. I highly recommend this place! The menu is extensive and all the food coming out of the kitchen looked really tasty and well presented.

Nice easy atmosphere and decor with seating on two levels inside and rear outside tables. Service was great and friendly. Food and coffee were nice and reasonably priced or what passes for that in these inflationary days. I'll go back again

Came here after a wedding in the area the after having some drinks the night before. Ordered the three little pigs breakfast sandwich. Can honestly say was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I ever had! Perfect for a slight hangover. We were very lucky as we didn’t book and was able to get a table straight away

This place used to be amazing. Since the chef and the staff changed, it's ... meh. Okish food (but used to be great), not unfriendly staff (but they used to make you feel really welcome), long waiting times (used to be really fast), etc. I can only hope it's teething problems from the sudden change of (almost) all staff.

Love this place. You might too. Freshly prepared, delicious burger and chips. It's a burger right? How good could it be? Handmade party to start, cooked within sight, brioche bun and a special sauce. Dill pickles and I took the option of English mustard ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Also great staff. One of which might have been Harper or maybe Farm.

Arrived to a very loud and noisy bar to find out our table was next to the door, across from the bar and next to noisy drinkers. We waited 15 mins for a drink although the drinkers at the bar where served ahead of our drinks order.....we knew then we had made a mistake! The food was excellent we both cleared our plate but atmosphere, service and attention to detail was lacking. Would not return in the immediate future.

Great service very good food and coffee . Didn't try the cakes but look very tempting and service very good even though the staff were busy.
