This is my local pub and the atmosphere is always amazing. Ran by a family where andrea knows her customers and we are always greeted by a friendly face. There’s always entertainment on most nights. Wether that’s quiz night, live singers, open mic night. Food is also 10/10 and Available all hours the pub is open. I’d highly recommend popping in!

So last weekend we were up in Ryton and headed for The Moon. The front bar is not open but there’s quite a surprise around the back. Eileen and her bloke have been busy and the old car park is now a classy beer garden - a far cry from The Rovers. Booths, a fire pit, heaters and a good range of new drinks await but the clientele has changed to the younger whippersnapper brigade. Hey ho, canny craic and not too many up to no good. Will be back!

I went in to get a hideously overpriced pint of cider (4.90, its Newcastle not Soho) and try and make peace after an incident six weeks ago (trying to protect my mates pregnant partner from a pack of letchy inbreds and then telling the owner, a lass, thinking she might do the right thing but was only bothered about the fact id spoken abruptly to one of her precious regulars) and wasnt even given the chance to speak and was greeted with a very professional "you can f$$k off". I then tried to go about resolving the issue and whilst I hold my hands up and admit I let a table of imbeciles wind me up thinking they'd get free beer sticking up for the place, what I got in return was disproportionate and cowardly. She fetched all her staff and regulars and a was mauled and repeatedly punched hard about the head and face despite saying I was leaving, and being in a compromised position where I could hardly defend myself. I now have a fractured jaw and concussion after what her thugs did, so if you're an outsider beware, Eileen and her boys like to keep it local... As a footnote, I do hope this can be resolved before they play us in the Premier league fixture before Xmas, my mates from back home (Leeds) can't wait to watch us thrash Newcastle on your big screens, you'll not mind though as there will be about 40 of us so you'll make plenty of money on that fizzy pop you call cider. Cheers.

No estropeó nuestra visita. Sigue siendo uno de los mejores refugios para fumadores del noreste, pero los baños dejan un poco a la imaginación. Volveremos antes de Navidad, así que nos vemos a todos.

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, several well-behaved dogs in the bar area at the front. The menu is limited but the food is good and there are a couple of vegetarian options. Real ales on tap, a sizable selection of good whiskies, and quite a few gins on offer.

A lovely friendly pub down in Ryton village. There is plenty of parking on the street in front of the pub and easy access with no steps etc into the bar. It seem a friendly little pub but a little cramped. Don’t sit on the “ comfy seats, instead of the stools “ as all the springs have gone in them and you just sink down. The Sunday lunch was fantastic and plentiful ( plates are hot but the veg wasn’t) . We both had the beef which was delicious. The staff seemed very friendly and helpful and we were told we could bring our dog in next time if we wish ( in the bar not restaurant). Apparently they have live music on every Sunday after the lunches are finished . Our only real complaint was the toilets, they are disgusting and don’t do the pub any justice. It’s such a shame as we would like to visit more regularly but they need to spend money doing the toilets up. Overall good first visit and lovely lunch

Went for Sunday lunch with my mam and my nephew. Took them out for a lovely lunch, my nephew had the veggie lunch, which went down a treat and nothing left on the plate. We both had beef and turkey. Plenty of meat with lovely big Yorkshire puddings. We all had a little bit room for dessert. I had treacle sponge and custard, mam had rhubarb crumble and custard and the happy veggie had chocolate gateau and custard.... All homemade and went down a treat.. May I also say good luck to Ben who is moving to pastures new.. We will return soon..

Went yesterday for another superb Sunday lunch. Consistently very good, can recommend it without hesitation. There is a choice of £8.95 beef, pork, ham, chicken, £2 extra for lamb. The large homemade Yorkshire’s are spectacular and that is true praise from me a Yorkshire lass who prides myself on brill Yorkies. Proper gravy, fresh veg. a good selection of puddings. Craft gins, cask ales and Stella on draught. £2 to add on a pud or starter.

We booked a few days in advance and our table for 3 was ready for us even though we were a little early. Friendly service, and the food was great. Homemade Yorkshire puds, choice of chicken, beef, gammon, pork or lamb was £1 extra. We had 2 beef 1 pork, all very good, very nice gravy and a jug for extra. Veg was broccoli, carrots, swede, roast and mashed potatoes. Lots of deserts, we had rhubarb crumble, sticky toffee pud, and a syrup sponge, large portions we couldn’t manage it all. It was full in there for Father’s Day and the staff were not flustered, remained friendly and great service. My 2 glasses of Merlot were very drinkable too, hubby a pint of John Smiths, daughter coke, total £41.30. Good value.

First impressions were ok. It looks ok from the outside and the young lady serving behind the bar was very pleasant. We took a seat in the dining area and ordered our meals. It was then I had a good luck around at the décor which was really quite shabby, dirty carpets and grubby stained seats What this place needs is a lick of paint, the carpets cleaned and the walls painted a lighter colour and it would be a million times better. Will say the food was good and piping hot. All this place needs is a little TLC and I am sure it could be a little gold mine.

We visited the Half Moon Inn with a Groupon, no need to book in advance which was a big bonus for us. We arrived around 6pm, parking was outside on the street, but as it's situated at the bottom of the village on a wide, quiet road, there was ample room.A bit tricky to find the correct door to enter - we tried one which was locked, a sign would have been very helpful as we weren't familiar with the layout. A few locals were drinking at the bar, and stared at us, which was a bit uncomfortable, but we walked through to the dining area, and were quickly shown to a table. There were only two other tables occupied all the time we were there. The menu was fairly standard pub fare, we chose steak and chips, Drinks were offered and brought promptly, and the food didn't take long either. It was very nicely served on large rectangular plates, and the helpings were large. Often the accompanying salad is merely a garnish, but this was quite substantial, although I would guess mostly from a packet of leaves. The chips were large and absolutely delicious, I would go again just for them! Steak was OK, a little tough maybe, but nothing to complain about. Also came with mushrooms, tomato and onion rings, so a generous meal. The waiter was very attentive without being obtrusive, very polite and helpful. He explained the menu - different food features as an offer on different nights, and looked to be excellent deals. The setting is fine for a family meal, not the poshest of establishments but an honest deal for any night of the week, We would definitely return. Oh and a bonus - you can get a take away!

I've visited the Half Moon on a couple of occasions recently for food. We live fairly local, so it's handy, and I have called there many times previously for drinks, as it is a nice cosy bar in a lovely setting. I was very surprised (and encouraged) to read such good reviews on Trip Advisor, and this is what prompted us to book for a meal. It would be unfair say we were disappointed, far from it in fact, but from my experiences the reviews are a bit over generous. The standard menu is very limited (burgers, scampi etc), and the specials board only offers 3 alternatives. To be fair, on both occasions we visited, the restaurant was busy and the "Friday curry night" seemed to be very popular, with many people ordering from the nights curry choices. I ordered a steak (12.95) on my first visit and a chicken dish (9.95) from the specials board on our next visit. Both were Ok, but no better. Steak was quite tough & chewy and chicken quite dry. We also ordered kids meals, which were good value. 2 mains, 2 kids meals and drinks came to around £50 including tip. The tip was well deserved as the girls who were serving us were excellent. Very attentive and helpful, particularly with the children, despite the restaurant being very busy by the time we left around 8pm. I'll definitely visit the Half Moon again, but that will likely be due to its location rather than its quality.Word of warning- unbelievably, they don't accept any card payments and there aren't any cash machines close by, so make sure you take cash.

Brilliant pub in Ryton Village. Staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. The customers are very friendly too. The pub it's self is well presented with a huge beer garden and kids play area. Food is excellent with speciality nights as well as normal menu. Nothing is too much trouble. Will defo be back x

The Half Moon is a fabulous, friendly pub in a lovely village setting. It has a huge beer garden and children's play area. The food is gorgeous but make sure you're hungry as the portions are very generous ! Sunday lunches and Tapas are excellent too.

Ordered all three of the 'to share' platters and they did not disappoint. Great value for money, friendly environment and spacious pub. Outside area had a play area for kids as well as outdoor seating, plenty of dining space and a separate room with a pool table.

We called into this café on our way to The Great Northern Museum. We ordered two coffees at the counter, but when we came to pay, we were told that cash was not accepted. This is a practice that we find quite deplorable so we left. It turned out well for us, because there was a café a few doors down which was very good and accepts cash.

Usé este lugar un par de veces para el desayuno, ya que era central y el desayuno es barato como papas fritas y también bebidas recargables. personal amable y excelentes vistas

Had high hopes for brunch at Eve but was a bit disappointed. We were seated straight away by a friendly young man. Probably sat for about 15-20 minutes without anyone approaching us for our order. I managed to get the hosts attention and he took the order for us. Seemed like there was a lot of staff but most of them lingered round the bar area. Saying that, their uniforms were odd, some were dressed in jeans/tshirts/aprons but none of them co ordinated so not always easy to identify who worked there and who didn’t. Pancakes were £11, were quite a small portion so not enough to fill you up. The live music was good but I’m not really sure it suited the vibe.
