Haldi in Portsmouth

Family of 6 Visited on a Thursday at 6pm so not busy. One of us made 3 attempts to get a glass of cola, 1 of us didn't get the rice accompaniment for our meal and 1 of us simply didn't get the meal ordered and one of the side dishes didn't arrive so we all just shared what we did get. Lamb Jalfrezi was ok, but both Chicken tikka masalas, and chicken biryani,the chicken was tough, 2 sides of chips both really over cooked and onion bahjis similarly dry and overcooked, in fact they tasted like they were yesterday's just refried to make them hot. All in all really disappointing. Good job there's lots of choices in Albert rd so won't make same mistake twice

This is a lovely restaurant, the food was delicious, well presented with warm plates which is a bonus. We had poppadoms, kashmiri chicken, chicken tikka, mushroom rice and okra, all beautifully cooked and so tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back.

The food was absolutely amazing, particularly the lamb shank dish. Perfect fresh naan bread. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Could not recommend enough, you MUST go.

Loved it. Wanted a good curry and HALDI did not disappoint. We had a vegetarian dish and lamb for mains- both excellent. Three courses for £12:99- amazing value. Would definitely return and recommend.

We have always had good food & service in the past but unfortunately when we went in on Saturday 27th April the service was terrible & when my wife's food came (who is vegetarian by the way ) it had meat in it ! When we complained they said that a junior waiter had taken the order but we know it was the manager ? It took them so long to replace her meal everyone else had finished & during all this time they did not even remove the first meal just left it on the table in front of my wife. THIS WAS VERY VERY POOR SERVICE !!!!

Very rude manager, over charged us and then gave us wrong order. Been a long standing customer for this curry house and have always recommended to it friends and family but will never eat in this establishment again.

Went here last night, The curry tasted like Popery and the chips were crinkled oven chips and not many at all. I def wouldn’t recommend to others.

The food here is just ok but the menu is misleading. We ordered a Narabi tandoori (mixed grill). It was supposed to include 'lamb chops' but it was one tiny piece of overcooked, tough, boney lamb. When we questioned this with the waiter, he told us that the menu was misprinted! The other meats only had one piece of each too, which means the mixed starter would have been a better deal at half the price. Not worth the £14.95 they charged. See photos.

Had a great meal at Haldi before going to the King's Theatre. Recommended.

Arrived at 21.00 and the place was busy with a great vibe. Food good and service equally good too. Would come again. PS saag aloo and saag paneer were great sides

Tried to order on phone and they put my down for over 6 minutes. Then had audacity to get short with me because I didn’t have my card number ready. Rude people, this is when resteraunts get too big for their boots. I’ve been all over the world and seen it time and time again these kinds of attitudes creep in and they think it’s acceptable. Told them to forget it

Fantastic food and staff. We had a wonderful evening in the restaurant, made extra special by all the touches they made for valentine's night - the evening before - but the ladies still got a glass of fizz and chocolates. All our dishes were delicious, can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

So the food was good. Let me start from the beginning. I was about to order separate dishes and he came up to me to order banquet deals. I asked the waiter about the student discount and he said that I will get it. When I got the bill, he said that there is no student discount for the banquet and its written in the menu. I asked him why didn’t you tell me that when I asked you about it. He was rude and said that can you see it in the menu. Then after paying the bills, he was like NEXT TIME BEFORE COMING HERE, HAVE A PROPER LOOK AT THE MENU. and if you don’t come that’s your choice. We don’t care. I mean who treats a customer like that? Is this a way to treat a customer? Never ever going there and will ask my other friends and family members to boycott this restaurant.

Booked a family meal for 8 after reading all the wonderful reviews Well they weren’t wrong Although the restaurant was a little small and authentic The food was devine Sesame prawns in particular were delicious as was the chicken tandoori masala never tasted a sauce so good anywhere The service was so caring couldn’t do enough for us Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for an Indian restaurant

Comfort food with a great atmosphere. We came here because of the good reviews and I can confirm that the food is very good and the atmosphere is great. We tried booking on a Saturday evening and were told that they were fully booked until 8.30 pm. Undeterred, we still came here and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the price.

Haven’t been able to visit this Indian for a while but had the opportunity to visit on Saturday - happy to say it was as good as ever: beautiful tasty curry, lovely bread, and bhajis. Only a takeaway but maybe not again. Tarka dal (we had ordered 4🙄) was watery and Sag Bhaji was inedible tasted like vanilla🥴. Onion bhaji’s were nice😛

What a lovely way to end my holiday with a VERY TASTY soirée here in Southsea. I looked on line and read about this restaurant... You want a Michelin style restaurant without the Michelin style prices? Then come here. Right from the start, we felt welcomed. We took a seat close to where we preferred, I forgot my reading glasses and the staff actually gave me some to use so to read the menu. From starter to main, they were so attentive and the soirée, lasting a while, became a grand part of my final holiday memories. The food was delicious and a huge thank you to the chef, to the waiter and floor manager and hope to see you next year.

Came here with my family. £12.95 per head for starter main course and rice or Nan bread didn’t seem too bad. But the service isn’t exactly the best. We had all finished our starters after having waited for about 25 minutes then we had to wait another 20 minutes for the main course to come. I didn’t realise it’s this hard to cook a few curries. The food was overly decorated which was definitely in compensation for the small portions they provide. Would not visit again unfortunately was a huge let down

I live locally and Haldi is my Indian Restaurant of choice—probably the best restaurant in Portsmouth. We’ve had countless excellent meals here over the years and always consistent. Great service, great food. Would recommend to all.

Having read the positive reviews on this restaurant we chose to eat here after a long shopping day. The food and service was excellent and I have to concur with previous diners to also recommend this restaurant if you are looking for quality food.

Haldi is the best curry house in Portsmouth without a doubt. The meat is always the best quality and the naan breads are light and fluffy. I visit Haldi frequently with my dad and I’m yet to have a bad curry. Don’t go anywhere else for a curry if you’re in the area.

We went here yesterday for Mothers Day and the food and service was amazing. They gave us all a free dessert and gave me a white rose for Mothers Day. The food isn’t expensive and it is delicious we highly recommend.
