Kadir's Indian Street Food in Portsmouth

Not sure what happened tonight but the food was awful 😣. Inedible and I’ve spent quite a bit of money there recently. Poorly packaged, watery rice, chewy chicken and tasteless. Will not be ordering from here again at a £3.50 delivery charge!!!

Delicious food and friendly & helpful staff. I went with my best friend on a Friday night and the best thing was that we didn’t feel rushed at all. We were catching up on chit chat and gossip and hadn’t realised we were the only ones left in the restaurant after it had closed. We will be back! Ooh and you can take your own alcohol for a small corkage fee 😁

the food was fine, but £18 for a basic curry and rice is too much

Really disappointed with the paneer tikka masala this time. The flavour wasn’t great at all compared to last time.

Part of the order was missing. The Goan Curry was not as spicy or flavoursome as when I have tried at other takeaways.

They welcomed us even though it was already very late. The place is really clean and elegant, the service excellent, the staff really kind. They offered us a free opening dish, then we had 4 starters and 4 main courses, all really delicious and really plentiful dishes, so much so that 2 of us could have eaten from one dish. We reluctantly left a lot of food but it was a lot - many asked for the dog bag. Thanks again to the very kind and very patient owner.

Very bad experience. Not worth the money. Tiny 4 pani puris charged 5.65, it's not worth it. Food is very oily and old stock.

Ordered a takeaway - 05/05 Food arrived on time. It tasted nice (Lamb Rogan Josh), however the portion size was disappointing. Would have expected more for the money.

We ate here and it was delicious , we hadn't booked , but they found us a table. We had King Prawn Biriani and a vegetarian Thaili ( 1st time I had tried, around 9small tasters inc a dessert ) Take your own alcohol. Great value for money, would definently recomend. We will be visiting again !

Kadir has one of the best lamb dum biriyanis in the area. When you are in the restaurant, the owner makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Food is tasty and I would revist the place.

I hunted all reviews to find the best Indian BYO in Portsmouth and chose Kadirs. Slightly worried that the restaurant was empty on a Wednesday evening, and we were the only diners. But fears were unfounded. I enjoyed the best Chicken Tikka Dansak I’ve tasted in Portsmouth and friends dishes were all very good. Service was excellent with good advice. Would recommend highly.

i did order by uber eats veg thali.its very bad experince.they mention in menu dal tadka its just boil dal .chapti is without any foil cover. In palo just bowl rice.i spent £20 all goe waste.

The curry worst I’ve every Had over priced rubbish didn’t eat it never again should of know when I was the only person in the restaurant and just down the rd the Indian restaurant had plenty on customers update woke up this morning not feeling good shame on you

rice was greasy , portion size not big enough was still hungry after , had to warm up in microwave.no mint sauce with the one onion bargie... but other then that it was actually really tasty i enjoyed all of it ...I was gutted there wasn't more...ile order again but defo won't be getting the set meal thing

I love Kadirs. Lovely warm atmosphere, friendly staff and EXCELLENT food. The flavours are just incredible. Always feel super welcome and as a vegan, there are many many options to choose from. I always choose kadirs whether it's for a big table with friends eating in or a takeaway for one.

It does what it says in the name, and does it well. This is a nice, authentic restaurant offering authentic Indian-style food, certainly a bit better that your average street food. It also offers a good ambience, good service and reasonable prices. I enjoyed the experience. They don't serve alcohol, but patrons are welcome to bring their own, without any cover-charge, which is a very nice touch, given that the mark-up on alcohol is usually high in restaurants. There is a Sainsbury just opposite.

Good quality starters and main dishes but I found my Chicken Tikka Masala lacked taste in the sauce as the only taste was from the lovely chicken. Maybe a bit harsh as it's down to personal taste. The tray of chutneys was most excellent and very tasty.

Food taste was finger licking, especially egg rice was top notch. I have eaten egg rice with lamp bhuna really that was awesome, their friendly behaviour has melt my heart. I will recommend everyone to at least try once Kadirs street kitchen.

Not a proper Desi food place. Never had a Peshawari naan with sweet filling or any sorts of filling to begin with, and I'm from Peshawar. Disappointed.

There were eight of us who thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, some of us preferred hot and some mild, all our requests were met. The food transported me to Delhi Street Food.

I have spent many years searching Pompey for a decent curry, some places are good then not etc. etc. As it stands this is the one for for me, recommended by an Indian taxi driver, I have eaten here three times in the last couple of months and each time we have all enjoyed the food, great curries and some dishes you won't find anywhere else in Pompey. Bring your own alcohol too, what is not to like?

Absolutely fantastic. I often find it hard to get food which I feel tastes authentic, but the somasa chaat and bhaziya were delicious! Rice was fantastic and both the vegan goan curry and the paneer korma were delicious. Extremely impressed and will definitely order again. Must try if you’re a vegetarian or vegan!

We went to Kadir restaurant on Friday night with friends from India and London. The owner Kadir and staff gave us a warm and friendly welcome. Seated us on our table. Kadir himself, took upon himself to look after us with our orders. We asked him that some people in our party, were strict Indian vegetarian. He suggested that he will personally oversee, we had starters and main dishes. He cooked most of the special starters followed by very nice mixed vegables curries, palak paneer, tarkha Dhall and rice. Hatts off to all of them. All my guests really enjoyed and appreciated the good friendly service.

Came across Kadir's after passing by on the bus and liking the look. Kadir is a very friendly and personable host and the food is great. It's a bring-your-own beer/wine establishment, but they sell soft drinks. Corkage is very reasonable.

We obviously ordered on a busy night as took a little longer to get here than expected, but the food was great! Definitely recommend this place if you want some amazing food...

This has become our new favourite place to eat. Nice twist on Indian food and pretty cheap. Can bring your own drinks which is brilliant. Have also had large parties here and no issues.

Food was late, gave me the wrong wrap that I ordered

We only popped in for a takeaway but will DEFINITELY be coming back to dine in at some point. The staff were lovely and even offered us a drink as we were waiting. The food was delicious and they had a wide variety of vegetarian options to choose from.

Our first visit and the food was excellent with a wide variety of veggie or meat curries, the staff are very friendly and helpful, you can take your own alcoholic drinks if you like, would highly recommend Kadir's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The place is really personal and has a nice ambience to it , you have to bring your own alcohol which we weren’t informed of … luckily a Sainsbury’s is opposite. It’s quite clear the place has regulars who were served their food first and got treated a little better . The chef came out and said hello to everyone and asked how their food was except for us … in my opinion not how you gain new customers. Food very average , Thali not as good as I had hope , prices are very reasonable. Samosas worst I’ve had , mixed kebab starter very nice.

Delicious food, good quality and there was an excellent veggie range to choose from. Also great that they show on each menu item whether it is gluten free. Yummy stuff! Would order again.

This place was recommended by a friend, so the two of us took my mum along, early one Friday evening. It was quiet when we got there, so the chef/owner said hello and then made a couple of recommendations for my mum, who's got quite a low chili tolerance. She had a Peshwari chicken (see pic) and a Peshwari naan, and was well pleased. My friend and I went for a couple of hotter dishes (chili garlic chicken and the day's special, as recommended by the chef, lamb and cabbage) and a couple of sides (mushroom bhuna and a saag bhaji). Long story short, the food was lovely, the service was excellent, and we'll definitely be back 😀

I was looking for authentic Indian dishes in Portsmouth area, Their foods brought me back to my home in India. I would definitely recommended this restaurant to you all.

We visit family in Portsmouth once yearly and always visit Kadir. This time around, things didn’t seem right on entry. We ordered and every meal arrived together. Sadly, the food was extremely poor. Everything from the onion bahjis, to the bread to the food was horrible. The bahjis were greasy, the bread thick and stale and the ‘special’ goat resala, was one of the worst curries I’ve tasted. The waiter didn’t even ask if everything was alright, not did he pass comment when clearing the table with virtually a full dish left uneaten. We will never visit again.

Very very terrible service! Ordered through Uber Eats for my sisters birthday, after some time it showed that the driver was on his way to delivering the food and after some time it got cancelled! Can you imagine????!!! Never ordering here again!

Authentic Indian food, brilliant homely taste away from home. Literally felt like the food critics in the Ratatouille movie; brought me back to memories back in hometown. Highly recommended and will be a regular henceforth.

Got a delivery via just eat, food was okay wouldn't recommend it, chips were thin not to my liking, naga wings were oily, pathia was small with 2 bits of King prawn chopped up, papdpoms were stail. Wouldn't go back! Everything was just oily

Top quality food as ever - best menu selection of all the Indian restaurants in the area - and I've sampled most of them! One of the only places that serves Quorn pieces in their curries as an alternative to meat which isn't just the usual vegetables. Fantastic.

Chicken Madras Curry tasted bland and not authenticate enough. The dish was mostly filled with sauce and runny and only about 5 strips of chicken in the dish. Pilau rice and nan bread were ok The garlic nan and chicken wrap were ok I will not be ordering from them again.

The chicken biryani was good. Also the desert kulfi was spectacular. Its a must visit restaurant. Thank you

Not really a mighty meal, hardly any chicken or sauce in the main, disappointing. No sauce with the onion bhaji and no chutney delivered.

The food here is just wonderful! So much variety for veggies and vegans - the starters, aloo tiki and deep-fried okra were gorgeous and the quorn garlic chilli masala and our quorn-based mains (with generous helpings of quorn and sauce) were amazing. Loads of garlic in the rice too - yum. A few vegetables in with the curry mains would have been nice but overall, it was fantastic.

nice food but not outstanding and the portion size was on the small side. The Mixed grill was very underwhelming for the £17 it cost.

Sorry but the worst food I've eaten in a long while. Arrived just about warm. Ordered lamb curry but got chicken even though the lid said lamb. Tarka Dahl was just water with some lentils in it. Samosas were just mush. Truly awful. What a waste of money

Been going here to meet up with mates once a month for the last 4 months. We were going to go to a different place each month but the food is amazing, top chef who comes out to make sure we are ok and if we need anything. Can't wait til next month

Couldn’t eat the tikka masala, it was so bland and cold the rice had more flavour. King prawn puri was gross, prawns were mashed up, bread was dry and the sauce was yuck. Worst Indian food I’ve had in a long, long time 🙁

Awesome authentic food and friendly service. We were visiting Portsmouth and ended up going to Kadir’s three times in the space of one week, it was that good. Highly recommend asking for their special and choosing a vege side or two.

Amazing quality, freshly cooked and hot!

The food was good, it was a standard curry I thought. The chicken samosas were yummy, didn’t get a poppadom in my mighty meal which was sad. My boyfriend had the masala tenders which were quite tasty. Collection time took a while, would probably just order for delivery!

My husband and I ate there last night (11-11-22). The special's board offerd a chicken dish which we ordered. We had never ordered or eaten this particular dish. It was devine. there is no other way to explain it. The chicken was really tender, moist, succulent and super tasty. We were told it was marinated for several hours. Yum. We had something of the speical's board in the past, which too was a really good choice.

Honestly don’t know where these 5 star reviews come from? Delivery was fast. Driver was polite but the kormas were so watery they leaked all out their containers ruined the bag of food. No taste atall and chicken was rock hard. Asked for mango chutney and noted would pay at door but not put into bag. Food was thrown away I’m sorry to say.

ordered a takeaway on Uber Eats and was slightly disappointed. the curries (and the veggie samosas!) were delicious, but the servings rather small. we ordered one mighty meal and one separate meal and the curry from mighty meal was much smaller. the complimentary onion chutney was just raw onions in a plastic bag with barely any tomatoes.

Food is always good quality but this time it arrived lukewarm and had to be heated up again. Also promoted £2 pound delivery charge but we will charge £3.50 for the delivery other than that all good 👍

We had a booking for 7:30 pm after the theatre but we came out earlier than expected. We turned up and asked if we could eat early and the staff were very accommodating. The menu was very varied and the food was extremely tasty when it arrived. I had the Vegetable Thali which I struggle to get in restaurants closer to home so I was well happy. The restaurant isn’t licensed but there is a Sainsbury’s across the road so we just nipped out for some wine to go with our meal. Would definitely go back if I’m in Portsmouth again

Popped in here after someone recommended it to me in the festing pub along the road. Was glad I went as I had a thoroughly enjoyable meal chicken chasni and mushroom rice with chips and a garlic naan, portion size was perfect although I could have eaten more since it was that nice. Would definitely go back or order a takeaway from here. Decent chicken in the meal which is hard to get in a lot of restaurants these days as a lot of them taste like cheap chicken or even squishy tofu, a lot of Chinese restaurants and takeaways can be the same, where it doesn’t taste like cooked chicken breast. So the chicken was nice. I would receive this place. Thanks for a nice meal.
