Fabulous cafe, lots of choices on menu and takeaway options. Very friendly staff.

Wonderful cafe, incredible baked goods and they can do a proper flat white (with oat milk too). Outdoor seating gets morning sunshine. Good for a stop on the way to the Peaks.

A lovely Mother's day lunch. Couldn't fault anything. Would recommend the meat and potato pie and the Sunday roast.

Really nice menu. We had chicken pie and veg. However, the service seemed a bit slow considering the place wasn't full at the time, but that might be because everything is freshly cooked. The only drawback for me is the lack of parking. There is on street parking but there's a church next door so if there's a service on there then its a trek back up the road to the cafe. I have mobility problems so it was a bit of an issue for me.

Took our mum for a cream tea for her birthday. Lovely attentive staff who were able to cater for a veggy, a non fish eater and a no problems eater. Great selection of delicious cakes and staff happily topped up our tea and milk. Great value for money as well. We saw the main meals coming out and thought they looked amazing. We would definitely recommend and are going back.

Good home made produce. Garden seating at the back and seats at the front of cafe. Disliked bikes being put near steps to garden. Safety risk. Loyalty card for hot drinks. Best to book. Another visit. Loyalty card no longer available. Cafeterie for two quite small. Lovely cheese scones . Gets very busy. Best to book a table. Outdoor seating available.

Lovely atmosphere, a little snug but the food and service more than makes up for that! Rhubarb pudding was to die for 🫠

Lovely little cafe. We were seated straight away, but later arrivals were having to wait a short while. Definitely worth a short wait, or you can pre-book. Soup and cheese scone were delicious. Scone crispy on outside but moist in middle. The chocolate brownie I had was also excellent. Will denifitely call again.

Travelled from Sheffield on the 28th Dec after checking online you were open only to find the establishment closed. Very disappointed.

Lovely little place. Proper homemade food and cakes. Great service and atmosphere. The meat and potato pie in particular was amazing, I could eat that every day.

I would like to say I am extremely disappointed in the service we got today 15.10.23. We walked in with 2 adults and 2 children . I’ve asked the lady if we can get a table she said only outside straight away . She did look to see if we can get inside then she said it’ll be around 40 min wait, however a gentleman walked in and asked for a seating for 3 adults and I could see the women moving away from me so we don’t see her talking. I waited to see what she said, as I could tell straightaway she turned us around but she told the gentleman to come back in 10 min. I think it’s utterly ridiculous to send family With children away but completely acceptable to say yes to just grown ups. I was going to say something while I waited to see what happened but it got busy and I didn’t want to stop the rest of the customers. Very disappointed and I will be speaking about this experience to friends and family.

We’ve eaten here many times before and the food has always been good unfortunately today the food was bland and tasteless , I had quiche salad and hard undercooked potatoes, we did inform the waitress but nothing was done about it . The chocolate cheesecake was very good though! When we we’re leaving the waitresses came over and sarcastically asked if we were staying for breakfast!!!! It was busy and the service was very slow .

We stayed above in a lovely flat, with amazing bed and dog 🐕 friendly. Breakfast in the cafe was wonderful, and a lovely view down the valley from outside.

This is a lovely cafe, with a small gift shop. If the weather is good there are nice countryside views if you sit outside. The menu is varied and good value. The food is freshly made and delicious. The choice of cakes is good and the scones are scrumptious. We always find the staff to be very friendly and service excellent.

A friend took me there fir a birthday treat, had a nice gluten free breakfast smoked salmon &poached egg also nice coffee. 👍

Surprisingly quiet for a Sunday afternoon but that was probably due to the men's tennis final at Wimbledon. Good coffee and scone at a reasonable price.

Sunday Roast + Pud, both excellent! Very busy, so it was the day for a leisurely meal, which is what we were after. Eat inside, out the front, or on the rear courtyard. Not sure if the cafe is licenced for alcohol.

3 stars as we love the food and location, the staff however need to brush up on their customer service skills. We have been here quite a few times and have never had a pleasant member of staff serve us. We will continue to go as it’s our choice to….we enjoy the walk. We are prepared for the poor staff service, it will be an added bonus if we do ever encounter a friendly member of staff!

Lovely mini breakfast. Just right for small appetites.

The last time I went here was 35 years ago for family Christmas meals. The fantastic home made food is taken to the next level with great service and cosy setting. They still have a great selection of puddings. The chocolate orange bread and butter pudding was amazingly light and very moreish. The conversion of the gift shop into a bakery is just what it needed. Signature scones were fab.

One of the cutest little places in Chesterfield. Friendly staff, set in beautiful surroundings. Food is all freshly made, cakes are delicious. Also some gorgeous gift items for sale in the gift shop.

We gave supported Hackney House all through the pandemic but unfortunately the attitude of one of their staff members towards us on a recent visit means we wont be going ever again.

Ordered couple of pies to pick up, they were delicious as always.

Have eaten here a few times in the past as well as picked up takeaway food.Went to visit my mother in law to eat in her garden and so called here in the morning to order food for collection later.The person on the phone was very helpful and we ordered plenty of food and scones to pick up.The collection was very efficient, only one family allowed in at a time, and they were very friendly. Saw the lonely display of cake so had to get some extras too!I had the lasagne with salad, garlic bread and coleslaw. The lasagne was really nice and a big portion! The salad was very fresh as was the coleslaw. The garlic bread was a bit hard and crispy but not an issue as everything else was so good.Everyone else had panini's which they all really enjoyed. Big and with plenty of fillings and served with crisps and salad.We also got some of the fruit scones and cherry scones which again are huge and really lovely. Great food at great prices and will definitely collect food from here again (and maybe one day in the future even sit in to eat!)

Only stopped for a hot chocolate, enjoyed the Rollo caramel version.

Cracking place for nice bit of coffee and cake, the other food is pretty decent too. Also has housey type stuff for sale in the attached shop. Popular with the older customer.

I’ve driven past this place many times but never stopped for some reason, so on a COVID bank holiday weekend day out, with no destination restaurant or pub to go to, we saw it was open and pulled over. Over the years I’ve tried many pasties and cakes, but this place does the best Cornish pastie I’ve EVER had, and I include anything I’ve tried in Cornwall, and even my Mum’s, who’s pastry tended to give me indigestion, bless her. The Bakewell tart slice was also absolutely phenomenal. Not sure who they’ve got baking in there - could be Pru Leith judging by the quality, but they really need to get on Bake Off, as they’d blow their socks off! Service was also superb, contrary to other reviews, and this is now my ‘go to’ place.... My waistline is not going to be happy!

The most amazing take away pies I have ever tasted. Top restaurant quality at home. Really really recommend.

Gone off this place quite a lot in recent times. The prices have gone up and the quality gone down. It is a lovely place and the staff are so nice but my personal taste doesn't enjoy it anymore

The cafe isn't open, but open for takeaways, cakes and pies. The standard never varies. It is always fantastic

Quality food, drinks and service

Ordered two takeaway sandwiches, waited over twenty minutes and when the food did come out it was wrong, twice. Ended up just taking what I’d not ordered as I didn’t want to wait any longer. Left my partner still waiting for his. The main reason I felt the need to leave a review was due to the rudeness of the two young girls that were working. Won’t be going back which is a shame because the actual sandwiches were nice. Certainly not a COVID safe environment due to the number of people waiting.

The Takeaway service is excellent. I bought my coffee and a cake but took a cherry and almond scone home for my husband. He has been raving about it ever since. He ays its the best scone he's ever had!

I used to love the place, but last two occasions the service was bad. I booked a table that was cancelled with a ridiculous short notice. And I ordered two pies to takeaway next day. They assured on the phone that they had no beef mince pies at all. I went to pick up my order, but they had only one pie ready for me. Fortunately, they had a second pie available. Surprisingly, the spare pie was beef mince. Sorry for some of the staff as I know not all are that rude. If you are Brittish, they will probably treat you well.

I can highly recommend the pie deal. The lots are utterly delicious with lovely gravy and a gorgeous pudding. We had steak and Stilton pie followed by treacle sponge. The low is chocked full of meat and the sponge had tonnes of treacle and was divine. The only problem I have is when you go to pick them up you end up buying more delightful goodies as they're just too tempting to resist!! The good here makes you happy so o highly recommend it!

Had meat and potato pies coconut and lemon dessert yesterday .They were fantastic.Would certainly have them again .Probably the best pie we have ever had .Keep up the brilliant work.🥧🥧🥧

Our first visit was fabulous. Friendly staff and beautiful food. Our second visit was terrible. I can’t believe they employ staff who speak to customers like we were spoken to on our visit. We left before ordering. We’ll take our customer elsewhere in future.

The food and the surroundings are 100% and we'll worth a visit. The menu is varied from a substantial meal to a cup of coffee. The pies and cakes in particular are fresh, homemade and very reasonably priced. The cafe is warm and cosy and clean. If you have been here before you will know you should walk through the shop, into the cafe and find a member of staff to point out your table. If you have not been before you will stand in the shop waiting for staff to come to you. This can take up to 5 minutes, even if the cafe is not busy. There is no bell to ring and shouting hello or shop does not get a response. Luckily my partner is not shy and so walked through eventually to get a member of staff. Not ideal, particularly in these difficult times. A notice giving instructions would be useful or better still a bell in the shop or a member of staff in the shop at all times.

Very popular cafe in the area. Has some outside seating. Food excellent, staff lovely. Very cosy old farm house style inside. Can get busy at times. Take away food available..

I really don't want to tell you about this place.... but.....it's a pearl of an eatery, as everything here is gorgeous and comes with Yorkshire portions.....just like your mum or nannan made 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
