I have been here a few times now. Lovely atmosphere. Lovely food, very good prices. The staff & owner are lovely and very accommodating to anything that anyone can think of to eat, as long as she has it in she will do a combination usually. The full English I can highly recommend, cheap, and a very large portion for it. I personally think that it's £1-2 too cheap and that if it was me I would put it up by that given the other places I have been to are usually £2-3 more expensive. But that's just my opinion of course. The flavoured lattes are nice as well. The cappuccino's are to die for. I don't know what else to put, but I highly recommend this place. Closed on Sundays and Mondays but open the rest of the week so pop along. You won't be disappointed. (I sound like I'm writing an advert, hahaha, I'm not but it's a true review from me).

This cafe is located in the most endearing street in an exceptionally pretty town. I wandered around the town before stopping here desperate for a cuppa. I ordered tea and noticed that there was apple crumble on the menu. I ordered a piece having no idea how generous the serve would be. The tea was served with a ginger nut bikkie. So , soon I was teary… my grandmother (great) used to make bikkies just like these… and the crumble reminded me of her apple pie… my English Grandmother- born in nearby Worksop - had left England in 1924 and managed to take a bit of home with her to Australia and share it with her grandchildren. I thanked the poor lady owner, who seemed genuinely perplexed by my tears ( no more than myself) … I thanked her for bringing such a poignant memory alive. So for me … this small cafe was something special.

Came for a full English after reading good reviews, was disgusted what can out on my plate deep fried chippy sausage, undercooked bacon an basically raw mushrooms, burnt hash brown and burnt toast!! How they have good reviews saying best breakfast in town I do not know!! The lady even asked if my tea was weak enough?? Weak tea! I knew it was going to be awful from there! Had to leave an go oddies!

The only Café in Todmorden that can properly accommodate wheelchair users and has toilet facilities that you can use too. Great traditional foods and extensive menu. We have eaten here several times and each time the food has been great.

Huge portions of simple & filling food (pie, veg, potatoes & gravy), great value and friendly staff. Big mugs of tea. My main recommendation for this place & one of the reasons I keep going back is that their cheese & onion pie is almost (almost) as good as the one I make at home!

a mainstay now for many years, this is not quite your typical greasy spoon cafe, as in. one of the best spots in Todmorden, with a slight country feel inside. The breakfasts, are large fresh and well done, possibly the best in Todmorden, and the daily menu, is simple stuff and well done. Good service, whilst you look out the window into Water street, conservation area. The best of 'greasy spoons', relaxed atmosphere, quite understated. Best place for breakfast!

This cafe, situated just on the edge of the town centre, serves good home cooked food at a reasonable price. It is nicely decorated, clean and tidy with friendly efficient, courteous staff. The food is served freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Hot lunches - casseroles, soup, sandwiches, baked potatoes etc. A good place for a tasty lunch.

We called in for lunch on a Saturday. We both decided on one of their pies. My wife had the meat pie chips and vegetables, she said it was ok. I had the steak and mushroom pie chips and mushy peas, well I say pie, it wasn't a pie it was a filling with a piece of puff pastry plonked on top and frozen chips my pet hate.

It strikes me that 'Gusto' is a bit of a rarity. It is not a bistro, which is what most places to eat seem to be nowadays. It's an old-fashioned restaurant-caff that serves large helpings of substantial straightforward food which, every time I've been in, have been hot and filling and very decently priced. Mince, peas and chips - delicious; lentil stew - excellent; braised steak - just the job. If you want 'fancy' food or barrista-style coffee, you'll have to go elsewhere. Very friendly staff. A nice, no-frills, clean, welcoming place to eat satisfying food.

Five of us went for breakfast. Coffee very weak and milky, but the fry-up went down well. The portions were a little odd with some plates getting 2 eggs and others just 1, some with lots of bacon, others with 2 rashers.

Popped in for Jacket potato with tuna on a nice Saturday afternoon after walking for miles along the canal. It's serve yourself but the food is good and not too long a wait. Would happily come here again. Cost £10 for two drinks, 2 jacket potatoes and a portion of chips to spare... good value.

A well presented little busy cafe hidden down the cobbled street. the place was clean and tidy. Cafe had average pricing, compared to other cafe we used in the area. The food was excellent and the was plenty on the plate. Coffee was hot and one of the best l tried in the town. We shall make a point of visiting again next time we in the town. a well earned 10 out of 10, for the standard of cooking NOT steep in fat like most of the cafes do.

Looks OK from the outside, but as soon as we walked in it smelt of old chip fat. We should have left there and then but decided to give it a go. We each had a cappuccino which was like flavoured hot water, and we were charged 5p each for a spoonful of sugar???? I had a toasted teacake with butter, but I beg to differ as it was thickly buttered with margarine (yuk!). When my friend had ordered and the food and drinks had been brought to our table her opening shot as I was about to bite into my hot buttered teacake was "you wouldn't eat that if you'd see the state of the waitresses finger nails", and if this didn't put me off, along with the vast amount of margarine was the loud discussion amongst the staff about a friends dog having a boil lanced at the vets and all the gory details that entailed. With that we promptly left, laughing hysterically. It was worthy of a Victoria Wood sketch!

There are some nice quirky cafes in this town with great healthy food. We tried this one today as our favourite one was full. This one wasn't, which should have alerted us as the folk festival is on and the town is busy. We had the beef and vegetable soup. This was thick gravy with a few small squares of veg floating in it. It had neat gravy swirled on top!Not a shred of beef to be found in either bowl. The bread was two slices of stale sliced bread from a packet, with a smear of spread in the centre - however this was the most edible part of the meal. The soup was truly awful. Perhaps we just made a bad choice but we won't be visiting again.

Gusto came recommended by friends who know well the pleasures and downsides of Todmorden. This was an ideal post-market shopping stop. The full English breakfast was the real deal, service efficient and a very friendly atmosphere. I would go back any time.

Yesterday my parents came to visit me in Todmorden - we went to this cafe thinking it would nice simple food - we never got as far as eating - mum wanted soup so dad went to the counter to ask the grumpy looking woman what the soup of the day was - she didn't look up just carried on what she was doing and said - it's on the black board - having worked in customer service all my life there is no need for this kind of rudeness - we just walked out and went else where - gave it a one because it looked kind of nice from the outside - so in my option try else where thee are better eateries in Todmorden

We often pop in for lunch when visiting Todmorden's excellent market and are never disappointed. The food is freshly cooked and tasty and there is plenty of it. My own favourites are the all day breakfast and the home made cheese and onion pie but there is something for everyone. At busy times there can sometimes be a wait but the food is worth it.Well worth a visit if you're in Tod.

Lovely food! chatted with other customers in the cafe and my dog was more than welcome. Find the negative review hard to believe! I also had the cottage pie and it was delicious. It's a cafe serving home cooked food to a good standard. Locals were happily chatting to the owner and each other creating a comfy atmosphere. Papers to choose from and info on local places of interest is available. A happy experience.

We visited Gusto today as out favourite café in Todmorden appears to have closed down. Gusto looks like a smart-enough place, with Sanderson wallpaper, large tables and friendly staff. The problem is, however, that the food is dreadful.I ordered a cottage pie with pickled cabbage. This consisted of a plate that was half filled with glutinous, soggy mash with a slightly burnt topping. To the side of this was what appeared to be a rather cack-handed attempt at Bolognese sauce, with clods of mince in a runny, flavourless tomato sauce. Poured over this had was some instant gravy. This was served with a small ramekin of pickled cabbage. It was pretty much inedible. My partner had egg, chips and beans. The eggs had brown and crispy whites, with some remaining uncooked white surrounding the yolk. The beans tasted like the cheapest they could get their hands on, rock hard and bafflingly, cloyingly sweet. The people who run this place cannot cook. There are plenty of other options in Todmorden, and I recommend you go anywhere but here.

I've been a regular here since it opened having visited with friends, family and my partner and it's one of our favourites in the area. It's dog friendly which is great, sometimes we have struggled to get a seat as it can get really busy but is always worth the wait. We've sampled the full English and some savoury dishes but the real star of the show is their pancakes- absolutely delicious every time! Lastly, their new trailer is great for when we're on our walks and not sitting in.

I had this restaurant booked but 4 days before they e mailed saying they were not opening on a Tuesday. As I had paid a deposit I asked them to return this as I don’t live nearby so would not be able to change the date. They assured me the deposit would be returned in 10 days! 3 weeks later and numerous ignored emails I still have not received my deposit back. Can someone sort this out and return it.

First time to this refurbished eatery and what a pleasant surprise the visit was. Large car park and a very warm welcome from various members of staff on entry. A nice bar area and snug for dining (will try next time) and a separate dining area. All nicely decorated with good view over the valley. An extensive menu and certainly the meals we ordered were freshly cooked and generously proportioned. Prices very reasonable indeed. Definitely worth a visit.
