Guildhall in Portsmouth

Saw the Illegal Eagles, great venue with very lovely staff. Quick entrance into venue and a great atmosphere. Would go again

This was my second gig at the Guildhall in Portsmouth. Its a stunning old building and I love the grandiose decor inside. It has old world charm from the Axminster carpets to the stucco ceilings. I have not used the food or bar areas but the vintage elegance continues inside the auditorium. It's a cosy venue with a sense of intimacy. Above the standing Stalls area the circle and side circles have snug flip down seats with very little leg room. Not great if you are overly tall. But the close proximity to the stage and performers makes up for that. I will definitely chose this venue as soon as my next favourite plays there.

I went with some family and friends as I was having spinal surgery the next day. I managed to sit most of the show but towards the end my back was in spasm so I got up to stretch in the corridor. When I got out walking stiffly and with a limp due to my back I stretch over a tall bin. There was nobody around as everyone was watching the show. I was then approached by a large male security worker who came up to me and said I couldn't walk properly because I was drunk and had to leave. I said to him its because I had a bad back. I was then approached by a small male security worker so I tried to show him on my phone that I was disabled and having spinal surgery the next day. By this point as a lone female approached by two men with nobody around I was scared and intimidated. The smaller one said I was slurring my speech. I tried to then explain that I am on controlled drugs and strong pain killers so that affects my speech. They wouldn't listen or look at my evidence and after I said I was alone with two men, they called a female security worker. Now three of them to one person alone and anxious. They accused me of raising my voice which I did due to feeling intimidated and not listened to. The female one tried to put hands on me to make me leave. I said my belongings included my coat were in there. She said she would get them which I refused to have her touch my belongings so I was escorted in to my seat two rows from the front for everybody to see. My friend then came with me. I held myself together until we left and then broke down in tears. I am a senior manager for people with disabilities and aware of disability discrimination but I never imagined being on the receiving end. I was humiliated and intimidated. I reported my concerns immediately and received a response the following day, so it wasn't investigated and they said I was asked to leave because I was abusive. I have never been abusive. They are not going to say they made me leave because they didn't understand a hidden disability. I have asked to see the incident reports but they won't let me. I am viewing CCTV next week

It's horrendous. Saw Jimmy Carr last night and the cramped seating is beyond a joke at 5 ft 11" I'm too tall for the seats so spent most of the time in horrendous pain so could not enjoy the show. I could not find a comfy way to sit so kept annoying the ladybin front of me. Do better. It's 2022 and awful seating is no longer acceptable. It's time to upgrade and think of customer comfort as well as profit. I'd rather spend twice as much on my ticket to get a seat with leg room so I can actually enjoy the show and not sit there desperate for it to be over. Also someone was vaping in the stalls the whole time next to the staff member by the door and they ignored that.

We were excited to be going out to a show and to the Guildhall for the 1st time. We were told the bar was downstairs, so we made our way to the bar and ordered drinks. Then went up stairs towards our seats and found there was another bar. According to the email confirmation the show started at 7:30pm, so we made our way into the Guildhall around 7:10pm. Found our seats in the side circle (front row) and straight away found it to be cramped. The ledge came done low which made it difficult to get your knees under comfortably and the people were quite close next to you. The warm up act did not come on until just after 8pm and did a 25 minute set, advising Katherine Ryan would be on in a few minutes. At around 8:50pm Katherine Ryan came on. These timings were very vague. We did enjoy Katherine Ryan, lots of good stories, interacting with the audience and had people laughing along. Very enjoyable. She finished around 10pm. Exiting the venue was not too bad. Booking online was odd as we could only book seats at the very back of the circle or upper circle or side circle, yet on the night there were a fair few seats unoccupied in other places. Not sure how far in advance you would need to book to be offered other seats.

I have been to this venue several times now for festivals, concerts, shows, weddings & university days Each time we go it is so hot in the venue especially when there are alot of people inside. At a recent wedding and rock concert all my friends and family all complained of of how hot and stuffy it was with limited ventilation. It even took the act playing to stop and complain to Guildhall staff before they put on ventilation. Really poor effort as there were elderly and young kids at all these occasions

Sruggled to book tickets for an event as there were only groups of three seats left and I wanted two tickets .... each time I selected got a preventative message telling me I was not permitted to leave a single seat unoccupied!? ....Frustrated as to what other option I had (err none!) I phoned the box office to speak to a rather unfriendly assistant who eventually helped me .... this took 13 mins and cost me £7!! .... despite the information on their website telling me the cost was 7p per min ...Definitely puts you off booking here which is a shame as we have enjoyed shows and musicians here in the past ....

A drink at the bar before and during the interval is a frantic affair . The theatre is old and dated although the views seem good from all the seating which is probably more important .

Our trip to portsmouths guildhall was the special occasion for my sons graduation, it is a truly impressive building and with the organist given full vent to his performance, it all became a very special event in a hugely impressive interior

Fabulous views of the stage from the upper stalls with good acoustics. Drinks served fairly quickly, only grumble may have been that the food counter appeared closed.

Reservamos entradas para ver a Beth en el Guildhall en su World Tour 2018. He querido verla en vivo por años y nunca pensé que ella tocaría localmente. Qué talento. Aprovechó una comida en el Guildhall antes del concierto: menos de 18 a la cabeza para dos cursos. Sorprendido, había tan pocos comer, la comida era bastante buena, pero el ambiente estaba cansado y le faltaba ambiente. El lugar en sí siempre ha sido uno de mis favoritos. Gran ambiente y muy íntimo. Beth era de forma brillante. Si tienes la oportunidad de verla, no lo dudes. Sensacional.

Construido en la década de 1890, muestra su edad un poco, pero sin embargo es un lugar utilizado para muchos eventos diferentes. Así que la historia y la función en un solo lugar. Un montón de estacionamiento local y tranquilo algunos pubs y restaurantes cerca. Edificio muy impresionante en una gran plaza con algunos asientos permanentes en el exterior. Fue una entrada relativamente rápida y un agradable bar asociado con asientos circulares. 10. 60 por una botella de vaso de vino amargo y pequeño. Los asientos estaban ajustados pero limpios. La sala en sí es más grande que Southampton guildhall con una acústica mucho mejor. La banda y el soporte fueron excelentes. Nos quedamos hasta el final en el show agotado y nos alejamos rápidamente. Si hay una banda que te interese tocar aquí, ve por ello.

Visité el Guildhall hoy para asistir al Festival Vegano que tienen. La tarifa de entrada fue lo suficientemente razonable a las 3. Sin embargo, si estaba siendo exigente, esperaba más catadores gratuitos y otros regalos similares por ese precio; solo había un mero puñado.

Magnificent exterior to building which was gutted by fire, inside modernised and offering modern cafe area, toilets and large theatre/conferenece hall.

Este no es el lugar para las últimas tendencias en cultura, pero con buena comida de calidad a precios muy razonables, el Guildhall Cafe está bien. Llamé hoy no mucho antes del cierre y, aunque no era especialmente concurrida, había negocios constante. Las Tartas y Pasteles variedad era impresionante, que junto con una bienvenida amable hizo una buena experiencia. El café es grande, y cuando se realiza un evento en el auditorio, la cafetería de al lado es a menudo lleno.

We visited the Guildhall for a concert, and although this was good, the surroundings inside the building were far from good. The seats were very uncomfortable, and there was rubbish strewn around, obviously left over from a previous concert.

The place itself is interesting. We went specifically for the Vegan Festival which regrettably was very badly organised and a big disappointment.

Great show, shame about the seats and drunken clientele! Couldn't ruin a great show though! Upper circle isn't 'upstairs' slightly tiered, people passing through to the bar and toilets was very distracting!

Staff are always friendly and stop to chat, feel very welcome. Cakes are home made and lovely. Seating in and out. Always service with a smile
