Best breakfast/ granary roll anywhere. We have found this little gem for our Friday breakfast, and it's definitely the best we have ever had.

What a find. Super breakfast and lovely welcome. Pastries and bread look and taste lovely. Wish we could get that quality of bread where we live.

Discovered this superb little cafe while staying in Kington and looking for a breakfast stop. It is tiny, only a couple of tables and six seats inside, and a couple more on the pavement, but what it lacks in size it certainly makes up for in other ways. They do a couple of set breakfasts at an excellent price, plus a wide range of breakfast rolls that you can basically design yourself, plus sandwiches, quiches, pizzas, pies and cakes etc, and their home-baked bread is to die for. Despite the name, the staff are friendly too! Highly recommended - the only drawback is that they are not open weekends!

I stopped early in Kington for breakfast on the way to Wales and was pleased to find this place open. It’s a bakery/ cafe/ sandwich shop with a couple of tables. I had a sausage breakfast roll and excellent coffee to start my day off perfectly.

First thing to say the owner is not grumpy! Despite the long hours that a bakery requires he is always cheery and polite. Responding to customers and the oven timers with equal patience and happiness. Fresh bread daily. Good choice of fillings - we were grabbing rolls to take walking, with other bits to put in a lunch box. One of our group also enjoyed a breakfast on the pavement seats one day. ALso a couple of seats inside, but most were taking out. Very popular with the local passing trades too. Rijo coffee machine at time of visit.

My wife and I were travelling from Gloucester to Wales, we had decided to stop for Breakfast around Hereford and stumbled on Grumpy Grampies, it is brilliant, the food is cooked fresh when you order it, it is delicious, the components of the breakfast that we had were high quality and very fresh, the bread is baked in store and is amazing. We were so impressed with the bread that we bought some along with a pork pie, a sausage roll and some pastries all of which had been made that day and tasted amazing. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit, even if you go out of your way, you will not be disappointed!

Very pleasantly surprised by the food here, so I felt compelled to write a review. We have popped in quite a few times for a pint, but never for food until yesterday. The atmosphere in the pub is very sweet and cosy with fires going when it's chilly. Good real ales on tap and the bar staff have always been friendly. The food though... we were very impressed! Really tasty, properly comforting pub food, all home made and with local ingredients too! 4 of us eating, two with quite specific dietary requirements but were catered for really well. This was the only place in Kington where we could find a good selection of gluten free options! The chef came out of the kitchen to check everything was okay, talking us through some of the dishes as we were choosing and ask how the food was. He seems genuinely passionate about his food, taking pride in how he tweaks the recipes each time - this was lovely to see. If I was to nitpick, the dining room doesn't have quite the same cosy atmosphere as the main part of the pub, so some tweaking is required here. That being said, this place is truly a real gem that is worth your visit and we will definitely be eating here next time we're in town.
