Paid for jacket potato and salad which states on the menu jacket potato comes with a salad. You do not get a salad unless you ask!!!! Although you’re still charged for the salad ! Had to go back to ask for our salad with our jacket potato’s.

My friend, myself and granddaughter regularly visit the farm and cafe even though we live 20 mile away. We love walking around the animals then relaxing in the cafe.

Good selection of homemade food at reasonable prices. This is a training cafe, run by the Brandon Trust so service might not be super speedy but that’s absolutely fine. Lots of seating. And the farm is great.

On a very rainy day, I visited the Barn Cafe at Grimsbury Farm. While the ducks at the farm were enjoying the weather, it seemed the humans were not, and I was the first customer of the day despite it being almost closing time. I very much enjoyed the very reasonably priced bacon roll, piece of lemon sponge and coffee, sat in the shelter aside the ducks. I was also able to pick up a number of handmade items from people at the Brandon Trust to give as lovely and unusual gifts. The sun even showed an appearance just before I left!

We had a nice piece of carrot cake & a cold drink on a very hot bank holiday Monday. Although we didn't have any children with us there is plenty for them to see and do around the grounds of the working farm, including feeding the animals & play areas too. There are lots of picnic tables around the grounds as well.

This is our community farm, owned by the local council and free for anyone to visit as often as they like. It's friendly and the animals are super tame. For £1 you can buy a bucket of animal or bird feed and use that too feed the tame animals by hand. The goats are a particular favourite as they (and the sheep) will come running when they see you with a bucket, and happily gently eat out of even the smallest child's hand. The cafe is great; it's run by the Brandon Trust for much of the week. Many Brandon Trust workers have disabilities and so it's great to see this community spirited cafe work so well. Simple fayre like baked potatoes and paninis and homemade cakes are the order of the day, along with basic coffee and cold drinks and ice cream, I live close by and come to visit the goats at least once a week in the non-winter months. This place is just really good for the soul and I think S Glous council are kinda cool for making this available to residents. By the way, regarding the reviewer below who asks why the farm isn't a gourmet spot.. Firstly, this is a small community farm, owned by the local council, primarily there for residents and families to socialise with livestock. They don't bake bread and make jam, because it's not that kind of farm! Also, be advised the UK health codes do not require gloves, they require washed hands. There is growing consensus that gloves can actually cause issues because people think they are safe and then end up handling money, touching things they might not touch ungloved, and then forget to change them. Using hand increases hand washing rates. Further, see above regarding the staff.

Loved our visit here at Easter, made all the better by it being very warm and sunny. It's a lovely wee farm for a wander and the park is good. Snacks in the cafe were great too.

Have used this café a couple of times. The food is very cheap. It is run on a weekend by volunteers and sometimes can't open so would be good to check before you go. They only take cash, so go prepared. Nice cake but only instant or filter coffee, no barista machine. Nice place to visit with the grandchildren. Nice park and lots of animals to see.

I Visited the farm for the first time today with my girlfriend. Safe to say we timed it very well with the newly arrived piglets and even newer baby goats/kids on show. HIGHLY recommended and thank you to the nice lady who introduced us to the piglets!

The farm itself to visit is "ok" for it being free entry and definitely worth a visit for sure! The Cafe definitely needs work done, i had a jacket potato with beans and cheese, the potato was hard and only had about a table spoon of beans given to me? And the salad garnish well...there may aswell of not been any on there! I saw the lady making it and she was ripping up sliced iceberg into smaller pieces with her ungloved hands! 1 piece of cucumber and 1 slice of tomato so there was next to no salad... not that i wanted to eat it because it had been handled with ungloved hands. The hot chocolate just tasted like a sachet. There was no gluten free options on the menu AT ALL! Which is shocking? And what shocked me more was all the bread/rolls were frozen from makro/costco! I would have thought with it being a farm you'd get some decent local produce on the menu not wholesale stuff! I would rather pay an extra pound or two for decent FRESH local produce! Back to the farm side of things, the ducks/chickens/guinea pigs area looks a bit like a prison? The criss cross metal bars just isn't very appealing to the eye (plus very hard for kids to actually look at/admire the animals). I understand those bars are for safety reasons and to stop predators attacking BUT i think for during the day it can be something that could be removed ? I did see some construction happening so i can see they are slowly putting funds into the place so hopefully this is the next thing they can address/look into. :) Definitely worthy of an hour visit/picnic and play in the park though! :)

The cafe is sweet with more outside seating than inside. Latte was just a sachet mixed with water in a styrofoam cup, yes it was only £1.50 but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that anywhere so sadly that’s why it’s only 3 out of 5. If I’d known I would have ordered something else. The cafe Stocks a few cakes (my friend said the apple cake was very nice) and I had a tub of marshfield farm ice cream. The farm incidentally is wonderful. Free parking too.

This is a very nice local facility for little ones. The farm has mainly sheep and some pigs and horses and ducks for which you can buy feed. A baby cow had been born a few days ahead of our visit. Sadly, but understandably, it was not yet available for visits

The farm gets nicer by the years and the tree life centre is fab for kids to run around. The café is lovely but of course it’s nothing to the fancy café on the high street and that’s why it has charm.

Rained so we went in for lunch, food ok, over priced for what it was. Cake just fell to crumbs, wouldnt eat there again. They only take cash, they could do with a card machine as many people walked out because they had no cash.

What a wonderful experience, food was amazing, everything cooked to perfection, starters, main courses and desserts, great service, ideal ambience and such amazing staff, all smiling, polite and super efficient. Prosecco on arrival was a lovely welcome. Favourite member of staff; Joe, lovely young man. Live singer. 15/10 thank you, can’t wait to do it again!

There are, arguably, two reasons to visit Downend. One is on a summer’s afternoon to watch Downend CC play cricket with the bar in full swing and plenty of boundaries being scored as the ground is relatively small; the other is to pay a visit to Melanie’s Kitchen. This delicatessen shop is a positive cornucopia of cheeses, bakery items, biscuits, chutneys, artisan breads etc etc. The man who serves at the cheese counter (who I assume is not Melanie!) is a fountain of knowledge on local cheeses and knows all of the local cheese producers, when their cheeses are at their best and is happy to provide advice to ensure that you will leave well satisfied having enjoyed a sensory and culinary experience second to none. It’s full marks from me.

Watch out for the excess car parking charges payable at the till on your way out if you dare to get comfortable and have more than one drink. The toilets were utterly disgusting. I definitely would not recommend this place.

We went to cafe before doing shopping. Limited brunch menu. Good quality toasties and various pastries, muffins etc. Coffee ok. Not the best. Generally clean. Pleasant no-nonsense staff. A few tables outside for those with dogs.
