Grill Chef in Leicester

Service is terrible, he bought the food with no utensils had to get up and request this. Had to then get up again and ask for drinks,The food was 2 kebabs with salad that looked like it was cut few days ago. The meal should come with vegetables and salad when questioned why there was no vegetables he then said hes a new staff member and is unsure. when questioned the price they charge for 2 kebabs and salad that was not fresh and nan seems to much for the quality and portion size of food. Will not be dining here again really disappointed.

I have been going to Grill Chef for many years now, and always loved the food here. This place was our “go to place”, I have eaten here countless times with family, friends and conducted multiple meetings with clients here. We have always enjoyed the food here and the service had always been excellent. However, after Ramadan I am very sad to say this place has gone completely downhill. The quality of food is very poor, the service is slow and careless. I have really tried to give them a chance and always politely pointed out the issues but no feedback is ever actioned it seems. This week when we visited the restaurant at 6pm with my family and the restaurant was empty and had 3 staff members that I could see. After waiting for over an hour on our order we didn’t receive the lentil soup, (my nieces really look forward to this soup). When other customers arrived 45 minutes after us, they were offered this right away. I pointed this out to the waiter who then reluctantly provided 6 soups for 12 people? – Maybe they had less, but I am not sure as he did not state why. When the food did eventually arrive it was very poor to say the least, as an example they provided 2 of our lamb tikka/Shish portions completely burnt and overcooked fatty pieces, we couldn’t eat this at all, (my jaw was hurting just chewing one piece), my kids who love this usually had no choice but to leave it. We ordered 3 portions of Ribs, usually we get 5-6 ribs in a portion, and this time we got 4 max on a portion. Most of them had very little meat/fat, Infact some of the ribs came with no meat at all – just plain simple rib bones - (This is not a joke or an exaggeration). I was completely shocked and informed the waiter who had still not got our drinks after requesting this 3 times. And his reply was I am sorry we have no staff although at this time I could see 4 staff members and the waiters chatting away in the open kitchen and only another 2 small table occupied, so the restaurant was still very empty. When we had nearly finished (which didn’t take long as hardly anyone ate) the waiter asked if everything had been okay and I told him the truth very politely that the food was not good and listed the above points in regards to no meat and overcooked food and some other issues that my family faced. I also mentioned the fact that the restaurant has gone completely downhill since Ramadan. His reply was that we have no staff. I understand that even though the restaurant looked empty, they may have had additional phone/online orders that may have been difficult to keep up with, and I may have only noticed the times the staff where not working, but the rest of the time they may have been. But the fact that this quality of food left the kitchen and to a customer table and still expecting full payment for food was appalling. At the end of our meal, we were given a portion of small chips. Which I informed was pointless as we had finished (I believe they had placed the chips on our table accidently and didn’t want to pass onto the customer that had ordered this, so they mentioned moments later that it was complementary). At no point where we offered a refund for the burnt food or meatless ribs etc. they just gave a bill and said sorry we have no staff. I am sorry, but if you have no staff then your restaurant should not be open to serve food. Simple. Sad truth is, that after poor quality food and service, many customers like me will never return to this restaurant again.

Went with family for Eid meal, but was very disappointed. We have been before and to be honest food and Service had been great. This time it was very much the opposite. We had a large order so did expect the food to take time. It took about an hour for food to arrive and the lamb tikka was over cooked and chewy. The lamb ribs hardly had any meat, one had no meat at all. The tilapia fish was ok and the grilled chicken was good. The service was very poor. They normally give complementary bread and lentil soup. We were given 3 bread between 12 of us, and soup was not given till we asked for it when other tables received it, and they came after us. They asked for feedback we gave them honest feedback and they offered us complimentary tea and extra portion of chips. They were not busy and only had 2 other small tables to serve but it seemed they had too much to handle. Very dissapointed.

The food is not good, the food contains a lot of oil, the manager is disrespectful and his biggest concern is money

We had to wait for more than an hour until they took our order and when we did they said half the things are finished

Ordered a whole grilled chicken. Came uncooked and I told them. He took it back and cooked for some time, returned it again but was still raw inside and he said its flat anyway so it can't be raw. I then tried to eat it again and there was BLOOD. I went to the till where they cook and the man said you're here again. Well yes!!!!! I said you can't be telling me this chicken is cooked with blood still inside and that there is NO WAY me and my kids will eat this. He said oh sorry. So I said can I have shish taouk instead, he said yes and then decided to serve everyone else in the restaurant which took approx 30 minutes. We kept asking. After 30mins he then said another 10mins. The children and the family were hungry and waiting almost 2 hours for some proper food. We then gave up and said we will leave as the service is disappointing and despite giving us bloody food they did not compensate or feel guilty for serving us this food which they expected us to eat and get food poisoning. We paid for the drinks we had and left the restaurant hungry. Would not recommend. They don't care what they serve you...they just expect u to eat it! OVERRATED WITH THE 4/5 REVIEWS...TOTAL LIE. DON'T GO THERE TO GET SICK!!!!!

Very arrogant staff.. Poor service. Even after telling and showing that meat was uncooked.. they wanted us to eat uncooked meat. After a lot of persuation they agreed to cook it more which took them more than 40 minutes... after that i enquired is food is ready to which theu said another 10 minutes... we went there with kids and left hungry... resturants are supposed to feed people... this place is full of arrogant people who dont know what they are doing and people would still go there thats why they dont care.

I was soo disappointed by the lack of manners of the waiters at this restaurant. They had complained about my child dropping some food on the floor. Decent food but very unwelcoming!

This one falls right in between...with all the possibilities of becoming excellent. It has a seperation for women/family if needed. Overall the food is OK, the Koozi is good, Kebabs/meat need more marination. Prices slightly more than the quality, location, and space.

The food was delayed and the customer service communication was really bad as we were told not to make a mess which I find it odd tell the customer how to eat and clean after themselves. We wouldn’t be going there anymore!!

I am deeply disappointed by the recent experience my family and I had at the restaurant. As regular patrons of this establishment, we have always enjoyed the warm atmosphere and delicious meals, particularly after Friday prayers. However, our recent visit (today)left us feeling disheartened and unwelcome. Upon finishing our meal yesterday, my two-year-old son accidentally caused a mess, as young children sometimes do. Instead of receiving understanding and assistance from the establishment, we were met with visible displeasure and disapproval the following day. The staff's response was dismissive, merely stating that we needed to be more careful as the boss was not happy with the mess! (Who says that to customer) This encounter was not only shocking but also disconcerting. As a regular customer of this restaurant in the past, one would expect a more accommodating and empathetic response to such situations. It is the responsibility of the restaurant to provide a clean and comfortable environment for all patrons, regardless of age. Sadly, it appears that since the change in ownership, the quality of service and the welcoming atmosphere we once cherished have deteriorated. I regret to say that I cannot recommend this place to other families with young children based on this disappointing experience. It is my hope that management takes this feedback seriously and works towards restoring the reputation and delivering good customer service. Unfortunately you lost me as customer now and is shame as me and my family use to go to this place since 2016.

Food is ok but it's very bland because it's turkish.We didn't finish our food and they turned off the lights. They also ran out of free starters. Good staff

We were invited by our friends for dinner to their favourite restaurant, after it had just reopened after refurbishment. We had beautiful starters and the best kebab I’ve ever had. The food was incredible and the service excellent. I’d be very happy to come back again . My friends travel 45 minutes at least 1-2x per month to come and enjoy some of this delicious food!

my conversation with restaurant owner. after ordering food from there. im going to this restaurant for last 7 years and loved the food. but .... salam Abid.. i ordered food from restaurant today .. £73 i spend and the food was very bad .. i told then no lintel.. they still put it. all the nan they provide were baked long back and burned .. not eatable at all.. chicken and lamb cubes were not cooked properly.. u know i am ur regular.. but this is not good .. u think i will come back to ur restaurant if u give me food like this .. i want u to speak to ur staff and tell them to either give me 1 freshly cooked plater or a refund of 1 .. tell them to call me .. if not i will not again come to ur restaurant and leave u a bad review .. You are not the first customer to complain about the food, and I feel sad that the business going down the hill because of some incompetence staff. The hidden gem of Leicester, this food is fresh and frankly one of the best places I have ever eaten, not many places you can get slow cooked lamb on a Wednesday afternoon, nothing was too much for them and Saldar's service was exceptional. Thank you and we will definitely be returning regularly. Prices are really reasonable as well.

The service at the beginning was very good however as we wanted to celebrate our daughters first birthday and they said fine when we booked the table. However once we finished eating wanting to cut the cake the owner and his staff were extremely rude and did not accommodate us to cut the cake. They were too worried about cleaning and going home . The owner and staff were extremely rude and abusive . Really made us upset 😭

Used to be their regular customer. Recently management has changed I believe. Bought mixed grill today, which I always used to buy. Food was totally burned, they said it's ok, asked us to have it. 24 Pound wasted. The 2 lady at the reception were not very professional

A honest review of grill cheff I have come to this place for the past 4 years.The food is freshly made from start. You can go there and eat every week and not get bored of the food. Amazing food and reasonable price. Few comments on the staff. The staff make the place lively. On Maria, she is more of the motherly type, whenever I have gone to eat with my family she has welcomed us. When you're there you dont feel like you're in a restaurant. She makes you feel like you are at home. Top service. And there is sofia (safia), you wont miss her she is always there. Customer servicewise, she is sharp, respectful, and very helpful. One minor thing I do have complaint about is the chai they used to make with mint in it. It is no longer available. It has been discontinued. I dont know why. Bring back my chai :) Overall 5 star 🌟

Loveliest grill restaurant I have ever been to. The waitress was so pleasant and polite. The food was absolutely delicious and the decor was beautiful. I appreciated the simple but robust flavours, as well as the grilling which was executed perfectly. Every cut of meat was incredibly tender. I have to add that this restaurant is miles better than other competitors such as Konak, Istanbul and Etci baba. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and divine food. I'll be back soon!

I used to go to this restaurant once a week but not anymore because of the food because we saw hair in the food and when we took the food back they changed it,But then when they changed it it didnt have nan bread in it,also they didnt give the soup to us for free like always and the staff was unkind and rude! I went there on a bank holiday and the food was superb they were so busy but the quality didn’t go down. The waiters and waitresses were so busy but yet so friendly!! Loved it! Really appreciate the servers the ladies were really helpful.

Due to the 50%off scheme, there was 2hours wait until we got our food on the table - very poor customer service, and slow, there were 2 floor staff amongst 50 customers, and even then we didnt get our drinks first, or food on time. Kids got bored and very tired. Maybe on other days it would be different. But its just like any other Turkish/Kurdish cuisine - all the same!!!
