Greyhound Inn in Coventry

This is the first time I'd eaten in the restaurant at the greyhound. The food was excellent , it came out piping hot and was so tasty . The service we received from Matt was exceptional . He's a credit to the pub and he couldn't do enough for us . The new owners have done a wonderful job . What a lovely welcoming place , beautiful surroundings and excellent service . Will definitely be back soon.

Excellent fish and chips in a delightful setting. The fish was cooked perfectly with a crisp batter coat and flaky fish. The helping was generous and good value. The service was a little slow as they were so busy but it was worth the wait. A couple of days earlier we experienced the Sunday roast with family. The beef was very flavourful and tender. Others had the turkey which was also good. This pub is in a delightful, relaxing setting where you can sit outside and watch the narrowboats at the junction of the Oxford and Coventry canals.

A lovely small public house, setback in a peaceful, off track location. The Greyhound Inn offers that comfort feeling, community and warmth, which the old traditional pubs used to have. Advised to book in advance, should you want a table! We visited here to have a meal. We all ordered starters, meals and a cheese board to complete. The service was fantastic, on the ball, very friendly. Really making that impression. The owners cared what you thought! I must mention that this little place, offers a good choice selection, of vegetarian options. It is nice to go somewhere where it is not just veggie burger offered on the menu! Drinks were reasonable prices also. Everything was great from starter, mains, dessert. Though roughly enjoyed! Definitely will be returning more often.

Stopped off here for lunch after a lovely canal walk. wow!! what a warm, friendly, traditional pub and the food was amazing at unbelievable value for money. dog friendly in the bar area. honestly, if you want a warm reception in a good old pub, serving home cooked grub, this is the place. will certainly return.

Went easter Sunday for lunch, and plates and food were hot staff and manager were very pleasant. Would recommend the greyhound at Sutton stop for food and a drink.being by the canal and the oldy world style pub it has a lot of canal history.

Went for lunch on a Saturday, food was amazing and all home made. Had a good selection of beers on draft. Food and beer prices very reasonable. Darren and his team were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Will definitely go again

Lovely warm fire on a cold day. Very friendly welcome and good food at reasonable price. I cycled to the inn to meet my wife and was able to leave my bicycle in a safe place.

4.30 lunch, popped in early to enjoy some drinks in the sun first, in the restaurant kudos to the manager and team for swapping and clearing the tables for the wives who preferred a window seat! Appreciated 👏 Service first class, friendly and efficient. Food great, recommend having the extra seasonal vegetables with the Sunday roast. Restaurant had a great vibe. Nice view of the canal and bridge whilst dining. 👌 Friends had wine, decent I was informed. I enjoyed a nice ale 🍺. Beautiful pub with outstanding service and food. There was 20 of us as we had our grandmas funeral in the day and they accomodated us all. With pre ordering food we all had our starter - main - dessert all come out at the same time as each others. The food was beautiful no complaints from any of us. Drinks were served quickly and the pub was in a beautiful destination on looking the canal. Perfect place for warmer days too.

Have been coming to this beautiful pub for as long as I can remember the atmosphere & food is always first class & delicious but this time since being under new management the whole place the was absolutely shocking & the food was appalling to the point we were both not very well from it at all & the desserts were far worse, I think this beautiful pub will definitely suffer from this as it was was of the most idyllic places to come to eat, drink & relax.

Our table server “Lucas” was impeccable, a polite young gentleman who was happy to deal with our requirements. Would be happy to visit again for food if “Lucas” is serving us.

Formerly a great, tremendous place, food brinks and ambience but not changed hands andit is appalling. Gents inside toilets stink, and you can smell them inside! Supposedly new proprietors have another pub nearby, I'm told it is a tad chavvy - they really do seem to have brought that with them!

Excellent lunch and a good pint of Old Original for both of us. It is good to see the pub is still as popular as ever. Will be returning soon via boat instead of car.

Fantastic meal for both excellent quality and service. The tender beef melts in your mouth and my husband eggs were cooked perfectly and that is quite hard and a reason why we keep going back thought the place might have deteriorated now as it’s changed...

Had a lovely meal and the staff were extremely helpful regarding my husbands allergies. They were only too happy to make adjustments on the menu to accommodate him.

Located at the end of a dead end single track lane next to Hawkesbury Junction on the canal sits this amazing, atmospheric, old pub. The venue has an excellent menu and a great range of drinks. I would fully recommend it for a special occasion but make sure you book a reservation as it often gets fully booked. As well as the bar and dining room there is also a front terrace where you can eat and drink as well as a garden to the side and a family garden to the rear.

We have been here a few times, but tonight we joined some new friends that we met on the canal. The food was as always so delicious and well presented. All the staff are helpful and no their jobs well. The steaks were cooked to perfection. Such a great place to stop for a lunch time drink or evening meal. Highly recommended xx

Went for three course Christmas meal with four others and it was stunning. Between us we had the mushroom, soup, and pate to start; the turkey and pork roasts; and the cheescake, apple strudel, and cheese board. All amazing quality, good sized portions. Service was excellent, atmosphere was cosy and very festive. Would definitely recommend :)

This pub is one of our new faves. The food was good quality and fairly priced. The interior is oldy worldy and adorable. You need to book ahead of time to get space inside as it’s quite small but they have a decent beer garden...

The location is beautiful, the service amazing and the food faultless. What's not to love about this friendly traditional pub. If you are in the area I highly recommend you pay them a visit....and maybe try one of their amazing pies.

We didn't want to believe it when our friends had told us The Greyhound at Hawkesbury had gone downhill so made a special point of stopping off to check for ourselves. Things Didn't get off to a good start when our mooring spot just down from the pub was littered with rubbish .Upon going to the pub , we struggled to get through the door by the car park with our dog as their was a group of about 10 rowdy men and immediately noticed the smell of weed. Things didn't improve as we found a seat near the toilets which also stank and sorry to say were very dirty . We were about to leave but managed to get another table and ordered some food, fish and chips and lasagne , which was ok but not as nice as we've had before here , The pub had no welxoming atmosphere and bordered on an intimidating environment due to the bad language and boisterous behaviour we saw at the table by the door.. I had a Guinness and the head on it was about 4 times the size it should of been but the barman didn't even seem to notice as he was too busy messing around with another staff member who was behind the window serving hatch by the bar . This used to be one of the best pubs on the cut and we've had some fabulous visits here but it sadly has gone the way of many other fine watering holes of late and that is a real shame

Sad to see.. Visited this pub lots over the years and we always Moor up nearby at least 3 or 4 times a year . Had heard on the towpath telegraph that after changing hands it had gone downhill but the reviews showed different so I was looking forward to my visit with optimism but oh dear , oh dear . We moored up for 3 days and visited twice at lunchtime and once in the evening , the atmosphere and charm we have experienced over the years has simply vanished. Its dirty , cold, had some unsavoury characters who were quick and regular to use foul mouthed expletives without a care for other customers . My beer was cloudy, expensive and tasted sour and the trouble and strife had to ask to have her glass changed on 2 of 3 visits because had lipstick on. The other boaters we met over the coming days were all saying the same. Its such a shame as we used to love coming here but I don't think we will bother anymore . Another of life's real pleasures disappeared sadly .

Never been there before so we thought we would try it. Where its based is a canal basin with walks along the towpath to a few places. We were welcomed in by a member of staff and shown to our table. Staff were very polite and helpful and the menu had quite a good choice of food.
