Ball Hill Diner in Coventry

Great experience as always. Used to come weekly when i was at uni as we lived across the road. We now visit every time we are back in coventry. Great breakfast, great price, great service Unfortunately, some of the American diner decor has been removed, im not sure why. Also lost one star for minimal vegan options, a plant milk should be a basic option in 2024, you can get these in long life sachets these days!

Disgusting breakfast. 3 mouth fulls and had to leave it sausage and bacon cheap. Added Brown sauce to hide the taste, and that made it worse. It was like vinegar. Never again will I go there. Grease seaping through the beans.

My wife loves this place and I've never been overly impressed, but only because I am a coffee snob and the BHD only has instant Nescafe. Despite this we went for Sunday breakfast and was really impressed because (a) the breakfast I had was excellent and only £4 and (b) when I asked if I could go buy a coffee from elsewhere and have this with my breakfast (some places would have said no) I was told that it was fine. That is a sign of a good/helpful cafe, and that is why I wanted to post a positive review. So, we shall definitely return, and thanks to the BHD staff too.

Phenomenal Sunday roast today (1st August) ordered 2 roast beef and 1 roast pork, couldn’t fault the size and the fresh vegetables and the amount of meat provided. Defiantly worth the £9.00. Defiantly will be back for a cheeky treat!! thank you all should be so proud of yourselves x

Writing on behalf of my mum & auntie. They live in sheltered accommodation, & like a treat twice a week with this lockdown. Delivery service is excellent & driver always happy even in the rain. Food always excellent especially mushrooms. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for delivery. Thank you , Beryl & Joan

I had breakfast there a few years ago after being told how good the place was. I waited ages to get acknowledged by the staff, I honestly got the impression i was being ignored, and when i was eventually served the service was very abrupt bordering on rude, and the food was not very appetising. I would not recommend the place and I'll ever return. The food isn't cheap but it certainly is nasty.

Not impressed. My partner and I called by en route and had drinks..a banana milkshake with nil banana that had never seen a shake! and cheesy grease laden oven chips. My partner had a breakfast full of cheap ingredients and tasteless. The toilet facilities were disgraceful. Never again. Steer clear...

Was the most disgusting delivery I’ve ever had will never ever order from here again and I’d advise anyone to never go anywhere near here, the baguette bread weren’t even cooked, I order a bacon sausage and egg baguette and I got 1 sausage 1 bacon and 1 egg in it it weren’t even warm and they charged me £15.50 just for two baguette the worst place I’ve ever ate.

Ordered and collected 2 roast pork dinners for myself and my elderly mother. Excellent friendly service, generous portion size and well packaged to keep it hot. 2 dinners @ about £15 or £17 delivered locally I think - great value.

After visiting the shop next door my car was parked outside ball hill diner as their van drove past me to pull up onto the curb I assumed he had seen me, his reverse lights come on and continued to reverse seconds away from hitting into my car I beeped a young girl stood with him shouted he never meant it the man got out and told me how I should park my car in the future with NO APOLOGY that he never seen me & nearly hit my care just pure RUDENESS!! I’ve never been to ball hill diner and would never in my life like to visit with staff like that working there!!!!

Cat hairs found in the sausage and bacon batch, I asked this to be changed, so a staff member brought out a new batch with the same sausage in it. Lazy buggers. Would never go here again.

This breakfast came fast and it was hot, thats where it stopped! Everything was deep fried including the bacon🤮. I also had a chicken burger which was thrown into a bun with abit of butter, no sause no salad! They need to take more care on what they are serving up,

The dinners arrived two hours after ordering and when they did arrive....yuk! Sloppy veg soggy roast potatoes. Everything was cheap and tasted horrible. Ordered a side of mash,it was not mash,something out of a packet or frozen crap. Over priced for quality 8.50 each and 2 pounds for fake mash. Go to iceland and buy a £1 ready meal! Disgusting!!

Called in for a breakfast on a wet Saturday morning, a friendly welcome and drink orders taken quickly. I chose a basic breakfast and this was served quickly and was piping hot. The diner is American themed and has loads to see inside of it, the staff very chatty and welcoming. For the price the food is good value and just what you need to set you up for the day. Places like this are a real find, great value, nothing fancy just good honest fare. Such a change from the over priced coffee shops and bistros. I will return next time I am in the area.

Called in for a big breakfast and pot of tea, friendly service and good food. Only slight downside was the pot of tea only gives one and a half cups, however a total bill of £4.90 is excellent value for money. Recommend.

I have had this a few times, it always surprises me the quality of the roast dinner that they deliver. Have eaten in house a few times about a year ago but the staff are always friendly and food is perfect. Highly recommended!

Myself and a friend visited Ball Hill Coventry to have a look at the normal shops and charity shops.If you havent been to Ball Hill it is a very interesting cosmopolitan part of Coventry that has bakeries small shopping arcade music museum couple of pubs different shops to Coventry Centre but is worth a stop for a few hours

Both my colleague and myself visited today and both had the mega breakfast and 2 cups of coffee. We have been here about 4 times now and enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Great atmosphere and good value for money food.

We always order a jumbo breakfast which arrives fast and hot. All ingredients are off a very high quality. Never had any complaints which is very unusual. Great place with friendly family feel.

Had a jumbo breakfast which was only £1 more and came with mushrooms which is what swung it for me over the big breakfast. Only came with 3 mushrooms and wasnt that big a breakfast with small bacon rashers. Tasted ok

Llegamos y bebidas fue tomado rápidamente! El personal parecía amable en este momento sin embargo eso cambió pronto. Por lo que supongo que el marido de la cocinera en la cocina estaba sentado allí en su uniforme en una mesa en la esquina! Dos de nuestras bebidas llegamos pero faltaba el café con leche, la chica que nos atendió era dos ocupado prestando atención a un bebé jugando con él y no prestando atención a sus habilidades de servicio al cliente resbale por el desagüe! Entonces ella ni siquiera cuenta de que faltaba la otra bebida, o aún para colocar un pedido de comida! No fue hasta que me dijo que un miembro del personal que tuvo conocimiento! El otro miembro era claramente indignado en el servicio que hemos recibido! Una vez el pedido comida estaba situada la comida no llega rápidamente pero el servicio al cliente no arruinar nuestra visita! Yo soy un chef y comprender lo difícil que es, pero al final del día, cuando no debería ser ocupado, dejando que sus estándares de antes! Luego también rematar de que están parados comiendo galletas y pasteles en frente de los clientes, entonces la comida la manipulación sin lavarse las manos. Tengo un nivel 4 de higiene alimentaria y me puede asegurar que esto no es lo que enseñó lo que fuera! Creo que este lugar necesita pensar sobre su servicio de atención al cliente y cómo el personal actuar antes de que la gente comience a desanime!

Su Diners domingo son una fantástica relación calidad-precio. Siempre una muy buena mezcla de verduras. Un montón de carne asada y patatas. No podía cocinar más barato o más sabrosa. El personal es muy amable de la señorita que me tomo mi orden en el teléfono con el caballero que entregan la comida aún caliente a mi puerta.

Nos encanta todas las cosas estadounidenses. Ball Hill es un ESTADOS UNIDOS temáticas Diner Diner Retro con un montón de objetos en las paredes con paneles de madera. Incluso el paragolpes delantero de un coche clásico americano! Un montón de ambiente. La comida era excelente calidad y bien cocido. Precioso con café gratis recarga. Excelente relación calidad-precio y el personal es muy amable. Bueno ver la gente de allí, que siempre es una buena recomendación. Mi hija tenía la hamburguesa de pollo, patatas fritas y ensalada, que a ella le encantaba. Gran selección de menú. Sin duda un lugar que vaya más a menudo ahora que hemos descubierto. Puedes caminar a la ciudad o tomar el autobús.

The Ball Hill Diner is an excellent café. The staff are ever so friendly and the food is amazing. I personally do not like the sausages so I was thrilled when I got told that I could swap certain things for others. Overall, the atmosphere is really good and the USA décor is just fantastic! Totally recommend for families as it caters for all!

Cheap as balls, so that part of the name makes sense. Wasn't on a hill however so that bit doesn't make as much sense. Service was splendid, food was exquisite, however a pair of hippos interrupted our meal so we had to depart. I also liked the milkshake.

Have often driven or walked past and never been in. My partner and myself visited yesterday for Sunday brunch after a few too many the night before. Staff friendly and service good. Excellent choice. Place was busy but food was served quickly and was hot. The prices were reasonable and they seemed to be very busy with home deliveries as well. Will certainly be visiting there again soon and also recommending to the rest of the office the next time we order a breakfast delivery. Other meals available, not just breakfast and a wide range of drinks. Give it a try.

We went Monday late morning for a traditional fry up. 2 x 'Big Breakfasts' with crispy bacon and well - done eggs; no problem, 2 extra hash browns and buttered toast; coffee with a free refill, great! I love the decor and USA memorabilia. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I found my new favorite cafe in Cov. Proper food, reasonable priced and served with a big smile. What a treat ....

You know it's freshly made when you get your breakfast from the diner. It may take a little longer but who cares when it's good ingredients cooked fresh just for you. You can also personalise your breakfast by swapping items and the staff will most likely remember how you like it, they are funny and friendly local people who are always polite and helpful. There's lots of interesting decor to look at and an outside area too. Or you can get your food delivered.

Popped in Sunday morning, I had a big breakfast & my son & husband had jumbo breakfast. I was really hungry & ate the whole lot minus the toast. My son couldn't finish all his as he was full . Deffo go back, very quick service. Thank you

A local cafe, most of the clientele know each other and staff aren't used to seeing new people I think. Found it easy to get a seat and it was clean. Was served quickly. Now also do deliveries which is very handy but only to part of Coventry, my home address not covered. Website is very helpful although I wish they delivered to Tile Hill/Allesley, and also evenings. Food is ok, had a lot better but cant moan.

My boyfriend and I visit here frequently and have never been disappointed! We also bring our friends and family!The food is always hot and tasty. I am a vegetarian however I do not eat egg and I was please to see the veggie sausages used are Linda McCartney which are good quality and actually vegan! The staff are happy to substitute anything on your meal if you don't like it and I've always had friendly service. My boyfriend does eat meat and says his food is always fantastic, we wouldn't go anywhere else for a good fry up

Food is always fresh and great quality, milkshakes and thick shakes are delicious, this diner is great for families and the American themed decor is great. Also you can play games of pool for free which is great for families and the keep the kids entertained, staff are all very friendly.

It may not be the fanciest, but we love it there. The prices are good and service is always spot on. Please don't go expecting fancy, Michelin star food because that's not what this is. It's good old proper breakfast with good portions, nice friendly staff who are always willing to help.

Popped in one last Sunday for breakfast, Never been before, staff very friendly & welcoming , we were served very quick and didn't wait to long for our food, my beans and tomatoes weren't very hot , but everything else was very hot. I would go back & I would also recommend the ball hill diner.

Firstly, this place doesn't serve American food. In fact, it serves British food. The whole theme of the restaurant is American and it looks good...the food is good and reasonable...the choices they have given to customise your omelette are a lot and worth trying it...service is fine...overall good place and worth visiting just for the theme as a change from the usual :)

Excellent value cooked breakfasts and lunches. Free coffee and tea refills, quick and polite service and a wide variety of choice. Staff will also allow you to swap items in the cooked breakfast if you ask. The only downside is the piercing siren that announces the door opening.

These people, like the rosebud across the road, have been here all my life. Its a remarkable little cafe, funky to the core. I have to say the girsls cant cook as well as the guy that owns it (sorry dears) but the food is still good. Values fine, a nice place to eat.My only complaint is that sodding door bell.

Found the ball hill diner travelling through to the city centre. I thought the staff were very accommodating and my breakfast came out piping hot and didn't take long at all. I think the concept of an American diner is a really great idea with some great memorabilia showcased around! I think the breakfast is reasonably priced for what you get and will definitely be coming back, spot on.

It was the 2nd time I have been short changed. Delibrately short changed. My meal was vile. I felt so sorry for a family that arrived. I knew they would get the same. The meal was luke .. warm.As for a usa diner what!!!!! I lived usa for2 years there fore I know usa food. This place is a no go. America well one would have waffles tacos chicken biscuits corn dogs steaks corn on cob Mexican food. etc etc Never again. Shear thuggery.0/10

BHD would never be my first choice to go for food.In terms of breakfast, I find it really overpriced especially when down the road you can get a good decent breakfast for less and more on your plate too.I would never order a main meal from here, It is literally microwave curries etc...Something that you can buy in the Tesco Express down the road for a fraction of the price. The place never has any offers or promotions and they count every item they put on your plate down to the last mushroom! If I want a brekkie..I want a decent scoop of mushrooms...not 4 counted mushrooms! I think BHD has had it's time in Coventry unless they reduce their prices and get inline with competition or come up with some offers/promotions then they will lose my custom.

You'll be ok if you want a breakfast but everything else is very cheap, frozen, then microwaved. Save your money and get a pre packed meal in iceland or pay £7 for someone else to heat it up for you in the ball hill diner. Used to be much better. Well embarrassing.

I love the ball hill diner. It's simple food. Cooked well and reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The diner doesn't look the best but don't let that put you off. They do deliveries so that's great. Their always happy to change things if they can. A great simple place!

it's friendly, laid back and really good value for money. With a verity of options that lets you eat what you fancy and they are always happy to accommodate requests. My little girl loves visiting because the staff are so family orientated and always have a minute to talk to her..

I haven't been to Ball Hill Diner for over a year but after going there today I have realised the place has dropped in value and taste.We ordered a bacon burger and a bacon/egg baguette with 2 drinks £8.50!!!I don't mind paying that amount but I do expect better than what I got.The baguette itself was greasy so I got the impression it was toasted on the grill.The burger was shameful, the thinnest cheapest frozen type burger I've seen that clearly was reheated along with reheated chips.All in all I won't be going back there. There are 2 further cafe diners opened up on Ball Hill and I get the impression a lot of Ball Hill Diner customers have gone there and I can now see why.Sorry it wasn't a positive review but I can only be honest.

This place used to be better. Nothing special about the full English breakfast. The children's pizza looked like a frozen microwaveable pizza. The surroundings are nice with the American theme. This place used to be better though.

Great little diner with an American theme. Derek, Lesley & their staff always make you welcome. Always willing to try their best to suit your requirements. Pool table upstairs for free pool games. Even deliver to your home if you cant make it to the Diner.

Happened upon Ball Hill Diner completely by chance whilst walking through Stoke. Enthusiastic and friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and good food. Can't complain at all! Will be coming back again soon.

If you like a proper Cafe where you can go and relax and have a chat with the staff this is the place to go, excellent all day breakfast, infact excellent homecooked food.Totally recommend this place and in a great location surrounded by shops.

Not the best food, and not the best priced. But perfect for when you are hungover and would eat your own foot!

We ordered from the 'takeaway' service- it took over an hour and we had missing items and one dish was completely wrong. I phoned to complain and I was told 'we were really busy' then the phone went dead. I fed the food to my dog.. Would avoid take away service at all costs

For the best food place around this area, come here! Avoid Get Stuffed unless u want second rate food and the incapatity to cook bacon right! And try the thick shakes they are great here at the Ball Hill Diner too!

The food here is excellent, very reasonably priced and they do take away which is handy when you are in a rush!

Ball hill diner is quite famous around these parts for having memorabilia and bikes hung from the walls. I first noticed it because they delivered Sunday lunches. Although we never ended up having one delivered, it did prompt us to visit on a few occasions. The breakfasts from here are great although not what you would expect from a cafe. It was a little too "clean" tasting for us when we visited which sounds a bizarre complaint but those who enjoy a traditional greasy spoon restaurant will know what I mean. All of the mains look very much from a pre packaged meal. I had a pork batch and the meat was definitely out of a packet. I should mention that I did enjoy it but just not to the extent that I would have done if it was carved straight off the joint. The menu here is a large one which is probably why you don't always get the food freshly made to order. However, its an all rounder and worth a visit if you ever find yourself in the area.Although not on here, just down the road is a cafe called rosebuds. If you ever get chance, their omelette and chips will change your life. ;-)

Breakfast was filling and tasty, but ingredients were not highest quality - this was reflected in the price.Decor inside is...interesting...to say the least. We found it overwhelming with so many flashing lights and USA themed tacky stuff.Staff were friendly - to the other customer in there when we went. Our service was average as the lady who gave us our food (waitress seems a bit strong a term to use here...) did what she needed to do in order to get back to her conversation with her mate ASAP.Not going back - but it may be your cup of tea. It is a Marmite place - love it or hate it.
