Visited for Mother’s Day Sunday Lunch. Ate in the bar area as we had our dog with us so that’s a perfect solution for us whilst others without dogs were eating in the lovely recently totally refurbished dining room. Food was excellent and between us we tried starters, mains & desserts all equally good. Good selection of local Masham produced cask beers plus yesterdays rotating tap which was a cask from Wensleydale Brewery just up the road. Can’t really be faulted. 👍

We stayed here and enjoyed meals on two evenings, once in the bar area and then in the main restaurant. We phoned in first for a late meal and the staff kindly kept us a delicious pie meal and on the second occasion we relaxed with Sirloin steaks and all the trimmings. Very efficient staff and well cooked food with decent portions. A good menu and range of drinks with a warm atmopshere of locals enjoying a night out.

First time we have eaten at the Greyhound we went today for Sunday Lunch as a family party of 6 and everything was superb nothing was to much for them. The food was piping hot and delicious, we can really recommend the beef it was delicious, we mentioned it was my wife’s birthday lunch out and they produced a lovely chocolate brownie with happy birthday written all around the edge of the plate with a sparkler in the brownie, a lovely little touch. We were served by a charming young gentleman who was very attentive even though he was so young, great to see in this day and age. We will definitely go back again for another meal soon.

First ever visit to the Greyhound Inn today and I don’t think it will be our last!We were lucky to get a table at short notice for Sunday Lunch. They have great provisions in place for Covid and we felt really safe. The pub itself is really nice, a very welcoming atmosphere and equally as welcoming staff. We both had a 2 course lunch and both courses were excellent! The cooking and quality of the food was really good, I had lamb and my other had roast beef-and we were both really pleased with our choice. The puddings we chose were lemon posset and sticky toffee pudding-again both delicious and really well presented. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos-but we were so keen eat the tasty food on arrival at the table we forgot! We hope to be back soon to sample some more tasty food.

Having always stayed elsewhere on our visits to Yorkshire, the Greyhound was a pleasant surprise, we stayed in room 5, with a bedroom, separate sitting room and shower room, a comfortable bed, and lovely shower. Gracias Mike y personal.

Lovely spacious room with seating area. All very clean and full of character. Not much atmosphere in the bar, but it was a very wet and windy night so who would want to venture to the pub? I would not bother writing a review like this except for the fact that we were totally lost in the English Countryside and the owners helped us; took lots of time to get us back to our route,, after Bad Michelin Directions and gave us copies of their map which helped us all week. The pub area was very attractive, clean and not the least claustrophobic as some pubs can be. We had planned a trip back but ran out of time. I recommend them for their friendliness and care something I see reflected in their pub.

My husband and I dined here last week and ate in the bar area with a warming log burner. There is a good bar menu at very reasonable prices. No need to wait for a special occasion to eat here. There is also a specials board with lots of choice, and although more expensive than the bar menu, are still very good value for money. My husband had pork medallions and I had chicken in stilton sauce which I can thoroughly recommend. The veg were colourful and al dente.Mike the landlord is always friendly and welcoming. We will be back before long.

Shocking service. Firstly we were ignored and then waited over 90 mins for our food only to be told they couldn't fulfill one of the orders. No apology from the landlord only abuse when we said we just wanted to pay for our drinks and go. We are a family with 2 elderly parents who should not have been subject to such an outburst. Disgusting......If they don't know anything about customer service they don't deserve to have people patronise their establishment. As another reviewer said there are better restaurants in Bedale and this is one you should definitely AVOID....

We visited on Saturday night and there were not many people in, but I think this is more a sign of the times than a reflection on the pub. Old fashioned pub with a dog warming itself by the log burner, these are the kind of places where you can get local produce properly cooked with no junk food or gimmicks. Our group had a selection of meals all of good quality and more than generous proportions. Would go again.

We decided to have a family meal in The Greyhound at Hackforth, we booked a table for 7pm arrived to be ignored by the barmaid who turned her back on us, when she finally served us we were not offered to take a seat at our table. We ordered our food and the wait began......and went on and on and on ........ we were watching others being treated in the same unfriendly way as ourselves. One gentleman got up to the bar twice and gave up twice being served !!! The barmaid was complaining constantly about how busy it was (there were about 11 people in the bar including ourselves !!) After 70 minutes we were finally asked to take a seat in the dining room - there was alovely open fire laid in there (shame nobdy had lit it) and the cold radiator only added to the chilly tempratures. We were served our food which was passable although the peas requested with each meal were missing from every plate !!!!! We ate and left - after yet another long wait to be able to pay our bill We live locally and will most definitely not be returning or recommending to anybody. There is a good choice of places to eat in the Bedale area and this is not one of them.
