We had omelette, chips & salad. The omelette & chips were very greasy, tasted like reused oil. Small portion of leaves. Had to leave most of the chips, too much of cooking oil.

Very disappointing. I went with an elderly friend and had Jacket Potatoes. The skin was burnt and the seemed like yesterdays reheated. The Brie on mine was meagre and my friend just wanted beans with no cheese. If there was a tablespoon of beans she was lucky. The side salad consisted of a few leaves and half a small tomato. Certainly nothing like the side salad shown with the omelette on here. The price of £9.99 for that was not value for money. I had taken my elderly friend out and wish I had chosen better. Won’t be going back.

Whether you are shopping in the Millbrook Garden Centre or not, the Greencafe in the Garden Centre is just the place if you want a drink and/or a snack. Light and airy, the staff are friendly, helpful and efficient (the tables are cleared away and cleaned as soon as the customers leave) and there's a good choice of drinks and snacks on the menu. Portion sizes are more than ample and good value for money

Go to breakfast occasionally - perfectly reasonable. Went for lunch today and had the fish and chips. Not seen a piece of fish so small elsewhere unless i’ve ordered a kids portion - and even then it would have been on the small side. Won’t make this mistake again.

Rude customer service, left our drinks on the side without telling us (we had sat down and by the time we got them the tea was gross and the coffee would have always been). Food was below average, not even a little dressing on the salad. The only good bit was the size of the brownie! but after trying it, you realise that this is actual a con. All of this is sad because the garden centre is a very nice place.

Well if you want a quick bite to eat drive by. Three of us wanted a coffe and one of the party asked for a round of white toast. 15 minutes on and no toast but a server came to inform us that the bread had not defrosted and would he like granary. ( why you can't toast frozen bread as I have done who knows). Another 10 minutes along came the anaemis granary. Coffes and tea were OK butnot the first time I have experienced such slow service. Watching the Chef I could have done it all myself in a fraction of the time. Love the Garden Centre itself - a good choice of well cared for plants. Got a free pot as well!

Something has happened to change the once happy atmosphere within this once lovely garden centre cafe. We visited at around 11am on a Sunday and it was already becoming busy. The two young female members of staff seemed to be coping ably enough, but there were no smiles for any of their customers, or even for each other. We chose two of their (still) delicious cheese scones and asked for them to be warmed-up, but were taken-aback when one of the staff picked them up with her fingers to take them to be microwaved. We've been customers of this fantastic garden centre for years and have noticed the gradual loss of those more experienced staff who were expert in providing the high level of service we had come to expect from our visits to Millbrook Garden Centre at Staplehurst. It still is a great place to visit, but I think that the management team need to employ 'fresh eyes' to look at how the business is run from a customer point of view. The Garden Cafe is a lovely place to visit, but food hygiene training needs to be reinforced to those who work there and also 'service with a smile'. The visitors to Millbrook are of an older demographic and for many of them - and us - it's a treat and a chance to purchase a great product, but some staff don't seem to be happy there and that could mean that our repeat visits become fewer.

I visited the cafe today with my children after taking them to see the butterfly experience at the garden centre. Waited at the till for 5 minutes to be served and was ignored by 2 members of staff waking by. While I was looking around I noticed the tables that were free had old trays with cups and plates piled up. At this point thought getting lunch might take a while and we didn't have loads of time so opted for coffee and cake and a drink/ice creams for the kids. The coffee was going to take a few minute so I said I'd come back in 2 to get it. After clearing the table and having to use a baby wipe because it was so sticky (nobody was free to clear the mess up) I went back to get my drink and was greeted with the staff member saying, "yeah it's coming" and a look. So rude. We tried to have a nice 15 minutes, but the flies that were buzzing about the left over food on surrounding tables was slightly off putting. This is my second bad experience, won't bother again!

We visited at lunchtime would say the cafe was half occupied. Small coke, San Pellegrino in a can and 2 cheese omlettes chips and salad ÂŁ20.45. HAlf an hour later omlettes arrived. Ivan only describe mine as burnt to cusp in fact it looked like leftovers. My wife's did not looked cooked at all. Now I may not be English but I have lived here 44 years (born in Scotland) yet the young male behind the counter couldn't understand when I asked for the manager. When I finally saw him he didn't seem bothered before refunding the meal price. We will never set foot here again.

My husband and I visited the garden centre to do some Christmas shopping, with two friends. Decided to have a bit of lunch as well. Bad decision!! Ordered, waited nearly half an hour, and when the chef rang for staff to pick up meals to bring to tables, nothing happened! She rang three times, so we decided to go and pick them up ourselves, along with other customers. We then saw the waitress go to the meals at the same time, and she was very rude to us when we said we had waited so long we decided to help ourselves!! Food wasn’t that good either. We have decided not to eat there again!

Husband and I decided to drop in for a coffee on the way home from Maidstone, used to go in quite a lot when it was Highgrove, but not been in for a while, while we waited to be served we decided to have a breakfast, won't say it was reasonably priced, but went for it anyway, I would like to point out at this point, there were 3 tables with people sitting down, so 9 customers, not busy.....we ordered and I sat down while my husband waited for the coffee, I know these new fangled barista machines are not to be rushed, but did take a while, he sat down with the coffee, about 10 minutes went past and the chef rang the bell on the pass for staff to collect food.......12 minutes later the bell was re rung, and our food was brought to us....now bearing in mind one member of staff walked past and ignored the food 3 times. as you would think food did not look very appealing, a sausage, a egg with the yucky clear bit still on the top 1/2 a rasher of bacon and a tomato that had only just about been introduced to the pan, and beans, oh and both pieces of toast on the same plate, I complained, and a manager was brought to our table, I will say she was very reasonable and our money was refunded, I think the staff need some lessons in customer service, i don't think there was a smile between them, none of them seemed to want to be there, I have worked in a large restaurant quite a few years ago now, if any of our staff had behaved like that they would not have had a job, a smile costs nothing but says an awful lot, actually I almost wish I had taken up the managers offer of possibly applying for a job there

It was my sons first birthday and we had planned a lovely day out for him and wanted to stop for lunch at this particular garden centre.. I have taken him before to this place and had no problems.. but seems in the 6 months since my last visit, things have changed for the worse!!The staff absolutely refused to heat my sons baby food up for us, blaming some ridiculous health and safety regulations, which I have doubled checked and does not exist. We had driven a long way to visit this garden centre and to be turned away was absolutely disgusting and upsetting. Health and safety for what?? I don't understand why its such a big deal to heat baby food up in a microwave or in hot water, other garden centre's I have visited are more than happy to do this or provide facilities! this place would rather my son ate ice cold dinner or nothing at all, seems just an excuse to me, saw no other babies/toddlers in the restaurant, so maybe they have this rule to keep children at bay??.... who knows, but while we was putting my son back in the pram, another member of staff came out from round the back and was casually talking out loud to another member of staff, of how its 'policy' not to heat baby food, the snotty little cow said it rather smug as well! We will never return to this stuck up, little dive of place and I wouldn't recommend this place to any family hoping to have a nice family lunch out, take your money else where. Also its ÂŁ5.95 for just a sarnie and salad here as well!!!!! pricey!!!

Food was ok but small portions price was really expensive like paying London prices in Kent e.g. A glass bottle off coke equivalent to a can 330ml was almost ÂŁ2 the price of a English breakfast was high to high for what you got ÂŁ5.25 for a small sausage small bit of bacon small portion of beans. Not only that but it helps if you thin to go here as the tables are too close together every time I went to get off my chair it was already on top of the table behind me. We ended up spending nearly ÂŁ20 for two breakfasts two small drinks and two bits of cake.

I`ve used this venue for a couple of years, always busy, but as it`s spacious that`s never a problem. Great views from the outside decked area. Fresh, locally sourced food, prepared well. A good selection, from breakfasts, paninis, jacket potatoes and soups, to full meals. Seasonal menu changes offering great salad deli bar in summer to full Christmas dinners. Friendly staff, always spotlessly clean! I recommend this café.

Having eaten several times at the newish Green Café, and feeling comfortable to visit on my own, I had lunch before buying some plants. Queueing, ordering and paying is a little 'hit and miss' as the staff do multi task. Whilst I appreciated that it was quite busy for a weekday, I did have to wait 25 minutes for my quiche and salad and was a little disappointed when it arrived as it didn't have much filling (a round individual quiche). The portion of new potatoes and salad were ample and well presented. The tables needed clearing more quickly and, to my mind, a little more supervision / training, would sort out any problems. It has a bright airy feel and a pleasant atmosphere and has easy access for disabled, with plenty of parking.

This café underwent a complete refurb, which has made it smarter as well as lighter and brighter. Our visit was made on a Sunday afternoon; there was ample parking and lots of choice inside as to where we could sit.The cheese and pickle on brown bread that we ordered was freshly made and very generously filled with some dressed salad and crisps. The cheese scone was delicious as was the HUGE chocolate brownie, which we shared between us. There was a very tempting display of a variety of fresh cakes, scones and biscuits as well as menu options of jacket potatoes and other light bites. This is a great place to visit as the garden centre itself is worthy of a browse; plants, garden tools and an assortment of cards and gifts for all occasions make it a very attractive place to visit - especially on a Sunday when there aren't too many shops open in the area.We loved this place when it was formerly known as "Highgrove" and continue to marvel at the improvements that have been made now it is owned by the "Millbrook" group.

We have always been big fans of the cafe and regularly have breakfast. We went for lunch today and came away feeling disappointed. I ordered the fish goujons for my little girl with new potatoes and peas, I was then told the only side options for veg was beans or cucumber. Not great options! When the goujons turned up they where fish fingers, no goujons insight, when I asked the waiter he simple shut me down saying this was the fish option for kids, if my 3 year old had not already tucked in I would have sent them back. The point being if I had wanted to give her fish fingers I would have ordered them, previously we have had great goujons with chunks of proper fish here. My mum ordered a panini, when it arrived it was on seeded flat bread which she can not eat for medical reasons not on panini bread, they did however provide a full refund on request. My husbands ham egg and chips was good and my milbrook burger was very tasty if a little small for ÂŁ9.50. Will keep visiting but hope the menu will be changed to reflect what is served or via versa as the goujons and panini offering is misleading.

We have been regular customers to this garden centre and café since it was Highgrove Garden Centre. It was then taken over by the Millbrook family and unfortunately from then it is no longer as good as it was. The breakfasts which we used to treat ourselves to once a month are a shadow of their former selves, with the prices no longer reflecting value for money. The café area refurbishment is certainly much better and very clean and welcoming but the once friendly staff all appear to have regenerated into younger student age staff who think a piece of slightly crisp white bread can be offered as toast and allow flies to sit on the lovely homemade cakes, whilst they have a chat. We have up until now continued to visit once in a while to see if it has improved, but after a visit today now feel that it really isn't going to be able to compare with how it once was and so will be looking elsewhere to enjoy our breakfasts and spend our money.
