Good evening. Lovely bar meal very well presented. Hot choc fudge cake yum. Recommend this pub, under new management during covid. Under the current circumstances they need a lot of local support to give them a chance.

Very warm welcome from the new landlord who explained no food available at the moment but directed to another pub near by. Pleasant pub with good beer and a nice beer garden.

We visited here last Saturday evening after shopping in Northallerton. The landlady and landlord were very nice but the food was disappointing. The only choices (on a very small blackboard) were lasagne and chips, gammon and chips, sausage and chips and egg and chips. I asked if there was any fish but she said they only had fish pie. We both had egg and chips for £4.50, not very inspiring we were hoping for something better than that for an evening meal. Also the place itself was a bit scruffy and dated. Won't be going back I'm afraid.

Called in for a mid week evening meal, the landlady lovely and run of her feet as she seemed to do everything....serve drinks, meals and probably cooks the meals, a very basic menu and we thought slightly over priced but probably on a par with other pubs in the area, good drink selection and as I said very friendly landlady.

Popped in as heard under new management. Nice country pub with no frills, had a lovely roast dinner for £7.50. Nice atmosphere, new landlords seem lovely and really welcoming.

Visited here, had no money, card machine didn't work. Was allowed to set up a tab, and paid the next day. Good service and food is reasonably priced.

After a day's shopping in Northallerton we stopped for an early evening meal. Excellent choice of dishes on the menu - much better than the standard pub meals. Well cooked and promptly served. Prices were a bit above average but reasonable for the quality of meals. We'll do it again!

Good beer, and straightforward menu of traditional simple pub food, served with a smile. It may not suit those who prefer slick /branded / & or posher establishments, but we spent an enjoyable evening here not long ago.

We visited The Green Tree today for Sunday lunch. The food was fresh and very nice, particularly the meat and dessert. The service was friendly and attentive and our one year old daughter was made to feel very welcome. The ales were of a high standard and overall value was good.

Very poor place to eat, 12.30 pm and we were the only couple in the place. Lunch time menu very expensive for what you got. Lasagna was very dry, peas hard, chips very dry and thick. Place needs a good clean and overhaul. Did not enjoy our lunch time day out and will not be going back. Very disappointing.

Me & my sister when to the green tree on Friday, The food was very poor, chips were cooked in dirty fat, peas reheated, and the meat poor. We now know why we were the only ones eating at 6.30 p.m. About 6 years ago this pub had great food BUT NOT NOW Lets hope the kitchen was now like the toilets VERY DIRTY

Visited as a couple 7 March. We were staying in the hotel. Ambience was good. The eating area could perhaps do with a bit of updating but it is fine. Menu is a mix of pub classics and more adventurous dishes. I had one of the latter as a starter, Lamb Tagine Roll with harissa mayo and smoked aubergine purée. Very good. The roll had chunks of lamb and the mayo had a kick. Tasted and presented very well. I had steak and ale pie for main. Appeared home made with real chips. Again very good Mrs W had the pork belly which she enjoyed too. We had a very nice bottle of NZ Sav Blanc as well. Very good value.

The valle of York has an identity problem it has swings and cheap plastic flowers it lacks atmosphere it seems to be trying to be a city centre pub. OK for the odd visit but I would head in to thirsk you have more choice and the pubs have proper seats and no artificial flowers

This was our second visit, the first one being in 2023 and sadly the quality of our meals did not live up to our expectations. The triple cooked chips resembled the bits that are normally thrown away with the longest one not being more than an inch long. We did mention it at the time, but put us off going again during our week long stay
