Green Spice in Shepway

Such friendly service. After our excellent meal, one of my friends ordered a taxi. When the taxi failed to arrive, the owner of the restaurant volunteered to drive my friend to the station. The meal is Bangladeshi, spicy and delicious. When the menu says “fairly hot”, it means really hot.

We got takeout on our first night in Sandgate. Great food, and friendly service. We picked up so not sure if they deliver but very quick and easy, food was ready in half an hour and curries were very good.

Such a lovely restaurant, great food and really good service! Our local curry house thankgod!the waiters always go out of there wt for us and our children love it too- a real Saturday night treat x

The food and service is outstanding at Green Spice! We are working our way through the menu as every dish is different and tastes amazing. .. the ingredients are top quality and fresh too. We have NEVER had a bad meal at Green Spice and we go nearly every week. Our friends that travel hours to stay with us, insist on going to their now and call it their favourite curry house. The staff are happy, friendly and can’t do enough for you. I can’t praise them enough.. to top it off, the food is excellent value for money!

Our ‘local’ Indian Restaurant which, until three visits ago was very good. Dissapointed with visit a few months ago and frankly, after last night, we will boycott the place. It’s really gone downhill. We were not advised it was banquet night (had no idea they did such a thing) and we were RUSHED through our full price (with 3 bottles of wine) meal. Then, to add insult to injury, NO they no longer give customers hot towels at the end of the meal. One member of staff left(?) and since then the place has fallen apart to the point of rudeness from staff! We usually leave a hearty tip in cash for the waiters, but not last night so disgusted were we.

Not sure why it’s taken me so long to write this review. I’ve been to Green Spice on several occasions, in big groups and small groups, and it has always been great quality. The staff are friendly, service is quick, and the food has always been brilliant. Highly recommend and we will be back soon. 10/10

We had eaten here years ago and it was very nice then ........ and it’s still very nice ...... friendly staff and good food what more do you need.

First time order after hearing several good recommendations from friends....so took the plunge. Order food for 3 people with sundries and some speciality dishes. Order for collection was 'on time' exactly, so drove back home. Dished out first dish and discovered a missing main course dish. Rang the restaurant who asked me to return all the food and they would replace. After a drive and some heated kitchen discussion, they said it would take 15-20 mins to re-cook. Long story short, it was ready in time again, but the delays had caused us to be a little over it. NO offer of a free drink or discount next time, but the food itself was tasty. Next time I will get delivery and see if they offer a discount or freebie, the least that they could do go even the shambolic mistake.....Friday night dinner.....delayed but was good once we got it....

I had been looking forward to a curry for a little while so phoned through my order of prawn puree starter and chicken balti and rice. When I got it home I was filled with disappointment. The starter had absolutely no flavour, the sauce was totally watery and the small prawns were hardly defrosted. I decided to forget about that and moved onto the chicken balti. Well honestly this was no better. There was plenty of chicken but the curry sauce was completely bland and unauthentic. I could have honestly done a better job myself with a jar of cook- in sauce from the supermarket.My advice would be to avoid until they possibly have more business, the chef they have at the moment is certainly not fit for purpose.

Good food and excellent takeaway service - two visits and they treated us like regulars! Try the garlic chilli chicken.

As locals we pop in for spontaneous nights out and are never disappointed as the service is perfect and the food has distinctive flavours. Nice environment and always feel relaxed and welcome. Try the lamb Green Spice Special Zafrani as so tasty.

Just ordered a takeaway used same indian for 3 years and just fancied a change, ordered the Goan Chilli chicken and have got to say glad I did, lovely meal told us 50mins and arrived just under 1hr so all in all good

I've been eating Indian food for years and this, quite honestly, is as good as I have eaten. Absolutely delicious food, very competent service and remarkably reasonable prices. Give it a go, it is exceptional. I had the sizzling chicken tikka masala, a conservative option, but goodness me a great choice. My wife had a vegetarian paneer dish and was also impressed.

Ordered take out on Just Eats, quick, easy and delicious, the staff were friendly too. Definitely recommend.

I received a call from a private number. I was told it was Green Spice and they had a special offer for a 2 for 1 discount card that cost £20 but that would be refunded against the first meal. I thought it was a scam so I decided to call in. There was no food hygiene sticker on the door so I asked the pleasant waiter what rating they had. After much nonsense I asked a second employee and he said "We have one right now". I immediately left and will never return.

Great to eat in and order from. In two years in the area, I have found them to be the best and most consistently good Indian. Nice staff, great food, always good.

The food was amazing. I went in and asked for the meal for two and it only took 15 mins to be ready! The amount of food we got was crazy, this place is extremely good value for money. I would definetly return again and i would recommend this to everyone!

Often you find something good and then over time things chance, maybe a chef, an ingredient supplier or something. Not here, consistent to a point on all food we have eaten. Good work.

Great naan, curry and sides. I’m not usually a curry fan but this food was amazing. We will return. We ordered 2 dishes off the specials lists fish and chicken - excellent. It was very busy in there on the night we went in.

Worst curry we’ve had in a while. My brother found a long hair in his food, the chicken was bland and the food was below average. Overpriced and will not be ordering from here again.

Got a take away from here under its new name Anacoora, or something, and nice meal, but I didn’t like sweetcorn and whole carrots in my Biriani. They must have run out of normal veg surely!

When in Sandgate Green Spice has been our first choice for dinner. Indian and Asian food are a firm favourite for us and we are quite fussy with our curry. We have never been disappointed with Green Spice. Decor is what you would expect from a curry house and a little sterile but it doesn't matter because the food is great!

Starters to mains - this is a proper authentic experience. Quite simply if you’ve never been here before you can’t go too wrong. Absolutely loved the side dishes and breads!!!

Well I've had many Indian meals over the years and this by far was the worst I've ever tasted. The chicken in every dish we ordered was dry and tasteless. The curries themselves tasted off like eating an old cloth!!!! The potatoes also tasted exactly the same like they just threw everything together. Just disgusting. Garlic potatoes again absolutely disgusting. My partner that very rarely moans about food was even shocked how poor the food was. So to spend near on £60 For 3 of us for most of it to be thrown in the bin. How anyone can say this is a great Indian is beyond me. I would give you 0 stars if I could. Avoid.

Each time we eat here we try to choose something new. We have yet to be disappointed. We had a fab meal, freshly cooked and served by friendly helpful staff.

Ordered a take away from here for first time and it will be the last! I asked to change the curry that came with set meal and was given the one I didn't want, food was cold and had to be put in microwave. Chicken was so dry and the food was tasteless. Very very disapointed

Go here every six weeks with friends and never lets us down Great service with the tastiest food and yes i am converted now to the more exotic dishes Plus. Great to see real linen Table Cloths.

Simply put, this is one of the best curry places I have ever been to and is the only place that I have ever seen a Chicken Begari on the menu, which is one of their specials. If nothing else, go there for this - it's not spicy, and if you're a fan of peshwari naan you can thank me later ;-)

Having used this restaurant on four different occasions, each time they have failed to to deliver what was ordered and PAID for.Tonight it was the nan bread. Won't be using again. Much prefer the Tiffen Box in Hythe.

Standard Indian restaurant. Normal menu. Average atmosphere and cheap interior. Service was good but the moody delivery guy was sprawled across a nearby table waiting to go home. Food itself was nice but nothing to rave about. Popadoms wer stale. Not bad for a quick scran but dont make a detour. . .

My husband had the Badami chicken and kept on raving about how good it was. I wasn't crazy about the bright red sizzling prawn sauce, but that is just my own subjective taste buds and not the restaurant's fault. The main thing they were generous with their king prawns and next time I shall just order a different sauce. They also provided some free poppadums. Well done.

Green Spice is my favourite Indian around here. Yes, there are some that are "occasion price" and some great ghurka ones but to get your favourites, done really well, this is the place to go.

Live close to hear but never took the leap, we did last weekend though and my word it was goooood!, we've finally found our local, first class curry restaurant. We had it delivered which is even more impressive that it tasted so gooood. I ordered a Ceylon flavoured dish which was an amazing (coconut sauce with a good kick) and a veg biryani for my soulmate. The onion bhaji were exceptional, as was the Peshwari Naan. Other reviews say it's gone downhill since new management, I couldn't comment having not tasted food from the old. All I know is, I'm a real foody, I cook all the time including curries, Thai and a plethora of other cuisines from around the world, I'm telling you, this was goooood! Paid £20.00 delivered for the two of us Try it!

Since this place was sold to new owners earlier this year, the cooking has gradually gone downhill. Perhaps they have changed the chef because the food now is just average where it used to be very good. Almost all the dishes, excluding the usual sickly sweet ones like Korma and CTM favoured by many Brits, taste a little sweet and sickly and taste like they have additives or flavour enhancers in them and don't taste that fresh or authentic in my opinion where they should be much fresher and better spiced. Rice was old and popadoms were stale and the lamb meat quite small and lacking flavour. Also I found that the salt content was higher than it should be. The location is in their favour because it is the only Indian restaurant in the area but you can eat much better curry in Folkestone. I hope they can improve to past glories because the staff are very nice but the food is a bit disappointing

Absolutely gorgeous food! Very distinct, yet subtle, flavours. Haven't ordered from here for a while, a bit skint. However, this meal was a treat well worth waiting for. Pick whatever you like on the menu, it'll always be a winner!

Food was never delivered, despite confirming delivery. Terrible service. Called up and they said they couldn't get into contact with me (despite me having left two phone numbers, email address and address on the order). Found myself at 23:45 in Folkestone, with nothing to eat because everything is shut by that time. Had they said they couldn't deliver when I ordered (22:30, I could have gone elsewhere).

Good food and delivered hot and on time. Only minor gripe is the meal overall seemed slightly more expensive than I would expect for a takeaway.

Sunday evening dropped in for a quick bite and very impressed with the warm welcoming staff and superb Tika Byriani. There is nothing to fault here food and service 5 star !

15 minutes late wasn't good but not too bad but one of the dishes had tipped over all the other food. After clearing up the mess we eventually sat to eat to find there was no rice with the set meal for two. After complaining to Just Eat the restaurant refused to acknowledge that lack of rice and didn't do anything. Well done to Just Eat though for giving us a £5 refund anyway. But Green Spice we are disappointed that you haven't owned up to your mistake. We eat with you often but we won't again.

The best Indian cuisine in the shepway area by far, everything was perfect. Excellent service, delicious tasty food, I highly recommend going here. I will be returning very soon. Thank you for a lovely meal :)

Delicious! Chicken Dhansak was excellent (its my favourite and this met my expectations), melt in the mouth saag aloo and we tried the Lamb Tangya which was really interesting - sweet and very flavourful. Looking forward to trying out some of the other dishes next time.

Green Spice is a bit of a secret known only to Sandgate locals. This small Indian restaurant with a few large tables, which nevertheless offer the full 'waiter brings the sizzling dishes on a trolley' experience, is very good, as a restaurant, but most people use it for what it is absolutely brilliant at: Takeaway or delivery!Seriously, they are an insanely good takeout or delivery option. For the price of a rubbish indian takeaway in London, you get restaurant quality food, and very fast delivery times (we routinely get the food 30 minutes after ordering by phone). They also let you pay by card over the phone which saves a huge amount of hassle. All the dishes I have tried have been good, but my favourite is the Ceylon. Pretty spicy, coconut curry, perfect with their excellent pashwari naan. Oh yeah, and sweet coconut naan bread with no raisins, just as it should be :)If you are a holiday maker who has a nice place but doesn't want to go to the hassle of cooking, or if you are just feeling a little lazy, this place strikes a great balance between being a treat, being reasonably priced, arriving relatively quickly, and not being as unhealthy feeling as a straight up takeout. You don't wake up with a food hangover!Enjoy!

Stayed in Sandgate for a short break. Green Spice was just across the road and so glad we called in. Visited on a Wednesday when they have a deal on for £9.95 a head, starter, main, side and rice or naan. Food was fantastic, great tasting, good portions. Staff are very welcoming. Can't fault, a must visit if you are in Sandgate.

WE were staying locally at the holiday inn and wanted to go out for eats and some fresh air. This place was recommended to us. needed car to get there as Sandgate is not within walking distance especially in winter. Sandgate is a lovely little place and will go back at some stage to have a good look around. Anyway found the restaurant and on sunday there was a special deal. It wasn't plush inside but it was clean! The staff were very helpful and they have a busy take away service which is always a good sign meaning fresh food. We opted for the special and it was extemely delicious and plentiful. The food was so memorable that I now compare others against this one. A very nice evening was had!!We look forward to going again when next in area.

My order was a little late but nothing too drastic. The food was nice however the chips were cold and hard 🤢 The rest of the food was warm but not a normal hot temperature. As it's my first time ordering from them I will get them the benefit of the doubt and hope that next time I receive my order hot not cold lol

This was a really great Indian meal. Quite often you receive a pot full of sauce with some meat somewhere in it - this meal had just the right amount of sauce and meat (more meat) which just enhanced the flavours. Rice was fluffy, daal was tasty - everything was right and I would definitely order again.

Took an hour and a half to arrive and was so cold, was offered £5 off my next order but it doesn't compensate for the whole meal not being edible, I have mine with chips and re heating wasn't an option. Won't be ordering again

The chicken was tough to eat and seemed like it was already cooked and just heated up. This was the most expensive takeaway for the dishes I always order.

I don't expect much when I order a takeaway curry, having lived in London and Manchester where the quality is often excellent. But this restaurant serves high quality food, very tasty, without the usual feeling of recycled generic sauce being used in every dish.

Excellent food and fantastic service i think this must be the best indian meal i have had at at my age thats a lot. The staff cannot do enough for you without being to over powering and the restarurant is clean and bright. We will definatley be going back and to top it all you can have a takeaway delivered or 15% off on collection.Thankyou for a great meal
