Green Owl in Rother

This is just the best restaurant/pub in Sussex!! Been coming here for 10 years and never disappoints. We’ve holidayed in camber since I was 12 (I’m now slightly older😂) been coming to this pub everytime we stay at camber sands holiday park since I’ve been old enough. Food is perfect (it’s not cheap though worth EVERY penny) great staff, service worth coming here to stay for the food alone. Highly, highly recommend

the food was good quality and the service was good but we all thought that the portions were small, and the price quite high. this was a shame particularly for Sunday lunch when we expected larger portions

Sensational vegan fish and chips - it would be nice if they did coleslaw with it! It would be fabulous if they had a full vegan menu and full vegan roast on a Sunday!

Disappointed. Staff were inhospitable and unfriendly. The pub boasts being Dog Friendly- not the case! We were expected to sit in a rather uncomfortable lean to. We decided not to stay- no wonder the pub was empty! We have been to many pubs before and never been treated like this before.

We ate at the Owl last night and the service was first rate, from the gentleman we felt was the owner and his wife. They were most welcoming and helpful! Sadly, we were also served by another waitress whose manners would describe as sullen. The ambience inside the bar was lovely, quiet and relaxing. The food was delicious. When a problem occurred, the owner could not have been more helpful and accommodating, really worked to make sure that we had a lovely evening. Thank you

We spent a lovely Saturday night at The Owl we had dinner, bed and breakfast. Everything was just perfect. Beautiful room with a gorgeous bathroom, the staff were amazing, so friendly, attentive and welcoming. The food was superb, we had a delicious dinner, the calamari was just wonderful! Truly a lovely bolthole right at the sea, the walks through the sand dunes too are so pretty. Will definitely go back, would highly recommend.

Excellent lunch after a walk on the beach. We enjoyed oysters followed by a mixture of small plates washed down with beer and cider. Eating outside in the shade was comfortable for us and canine companions. Great food and service.

It was a warm but very cloudy July day in Camber when we popped into The Owl for lunch so the resort and the pub were exceptionally quiet. We made up our own Meze dishes from the starter menu. Food was well presented and fresh and good. Staff were happy and efficient. Would recommend.

Firstly, the staff are all really welcoming and friendly. Dog friendly which is a bonus. Fantastic fish and chips and just a lovely place to visit. We will certainly pop in again.

Delicious meal with husband and FIL on Friday night. Gentle buzz, lovely relaxing atmosphere and attentive service. We’ve been to The Owl several times and have always had a great time. Highlights were the oysters and a delicious heritage tomatoes, mozzarella, pesto and basil starter (my absolute favourite). I had lamb cutlets with spiced cous cous, husband had a top notch fillet steak and FIL had catch of the day fish and chips. Said it was the best cod he’d ever had. Washed down with a nice Shiraz and local Flint dry white. Such a warm and friendly welcome each time. Thank you.

We were really looking forward to the amazing Sunday lunch sharing boards at The Owl in Camber but after seeing the special scallop menu for Rye Scallop Week, we had a taste of each of the 4 scallop dishes instead! The scallops were amazing, plump, juicy and cooked beautifully. They are perfectly in season at the moment. Lovely relaxed vibe, great service from the team and plenty of people enjoying the menu and the sunshine and very dog friendly.

As lovely as Camber Sands is, I have to admit this place is my favourite and main reason for going. Always the highlight of my stay for the food but also in particular the service is so friendly and welcoming. The best thing I can say is that it’s always a shame to leave.

Can only endorse all the 5* reviews. Fabulous pub; excellent beers; friendly & professional staff; plenty of room; dog friendly & most importantly, tip-top food. If you are expecting a normal pub Sunday lunch, look somewhere else. This is a cut above most places & worth every penny. Will definitely be walking the dog on Camber sands as an excuse to go back to The Owl.

Madeleine was incredibly kind from the moment I emailed to book for our large party for a Sunday roast today. We have accessible needs in our party and certainly probably asked far to many questions and requests! But all of the staff where so lovely, attentive and kind. The roast was unbelievable, sharing platters was such a great idea. The portions where generous and delicious. Thank you The Owl a lovely pub, highly recommend.

WOW! What a find, our first trip back to Camber for many years, we came across this lovely little pub by chance and we were not disappointed. We went for an early evening meal on Saturday ( booking advised as it's very popular) the food was truly amazing, the staff were all so friendly and accommodating, the pub is so cosy and had a great atmosphere. We would certainly recommend that you visit this little gem as we will the next time we visit Camber.

Best Pub Sunday Roast lunch I have had in a long time and staff were lovely and friendly. Really good quality meat well cooked.

It is probably the last good weather day of the year and a good walk on Cambersands followed by a good pub lunch at the Owl, was the plan. Lovely warm welcome by some lovely ladies. They serve a local cider called Curious Apple (which I fell in love with last year, like Aspell but more Appley) which I highly recommend, Mrs V had Whitney Neil blood orange gin, served nicely with dried orange slice and Slim line Tonic. We ordered our food..... Mrs V had the Mussels... better than the ones she had in France!! Served with beautiful faccacia bread and fries. I had the Sirloin..... Probably the best Sirloin steak I have ever had. Served with roasted little gem lettuce and roast baby potatoes. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I highly recommend this jewel of a pub. The local food and the quality of the food is reflected in the price and definitely worth it. Cannot wait until my next visit, hopefully not too far away.

Once again the food was amazing. Always difficult to choose from the specials and menu. The five of us enjoyed flavourful and generous portioned starters and main meals. Service was great and staff really friendly. Highly recommend.

These guys are excellent at what they do. The service and quality is amazing. We are big foodies from London. Amazing Customer Service, Matched with great food. Lovely experience in a beautiful setting. The garden area is beautiful right next to the sea, and the whole restaurant has a seaside feel, with a refreshing high class experience to compliment.

The Owl is a must-visit pub / restaurant just a short drive from the famous port of Rye. An amazing location close to the renowned Camber Sands…….great food, a friendly and attentive team and one of the most relaxing places to while away some time. Fabulous place for a great, carefully thought out meal. Went three times while staying in Camber and thoroughly enjoyed the lighter bites tapas style selection, the fish and chips and the burger. Lots of great flavours - will definitely be going back.

We visited The Owl several times during our weekend in Camber. Fantastic food and drink options (we are both vegetarian and there was plenty to choose from), super dog friendly, and wonderful friendly service! We planned to try a few places but found ourselves always coming back to The Owl. A lovely lunch or dinner time spot after spending the morning/afternoon on the dunes.

We live locally and The Owl is one of our favourite places. Just next to the glorious beaches and sand dunes, it's a welcoming venue with excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. We are regular diners and winers there.
