Green Man in Milton Keynes

Friendly staff, good choices and lovely food. We enjoy a family meal, and bonus is that's it's dog Friendly, you can even get a doggy dinner.

We pulled in for a night stop in our motorhome and checked with Toby inside if it was okay. A good positive response and we had a couple of pints ( dimpled handles, of course ! ) . Quite a number of people were already present, waiting for the restaurant to open, a nice atmosphere was evident. I returned a couple of hours later, for another pint and some food, that I could take out with me. At that time Toby (manager) was dashing around keeping everybody happy and Amber was behind the bar. I ordered a pint and some chips and cheesy garlic bread to take with me. She gave me a really smiley, professional response and was more than happy to comply with my request. As I drank my drink, she brought my food out in a box and wanted to ensure that I was more than happy. I was, and told her so, she then went and started clearing tables at 100mph. The whole place was really busy by then, but everybody looked really happy. It is great to see the team working so hard and pulling together. My food was glorious and very reasonably priced. The only down side was ( and this not the fault of the Greene Man ! ) was the road noise. There seemed to be no let up from lorries thundering through all night, such a shame, as I would love to go back. Please don't think this is a reflection of the pub, it is out of their hands. To me, this would be great place to visit for an evening meal though.

Stayed at Lavendon for a long weekend to catch up with a friend. We visited the Green Man on all 4 nights and had food on 3. The food was excellent especially the Sunday roast which was delicious. The staff are friendly and made you feel very welcome. Thank you.

We travel fro. Wellingborough at least once a month to come to the Green Man. Not only is it a very pleasant atmosphere, the pub is in good condition. The food and the staff are amazing, it was the first time we'd had a roast and it certainly won't be the last! The food is to die for. In fact I will ge arranging a family get together there. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they always go above & beyond. Thank you to all.

Haven’t been here for years. Changed considerably but imo not for the better We were in an area that appeared to be a converted side building but was quite cold and soulless also smelled musty Despite having a couple more tables with families there was no atmosphere whatsoever The wine was reasonably priced and surprisingly good The squid/calamari disappointment Typical freezer bag stuff with a few wizened rocket leaves thrown on The ‘award winning pies’ were tasty but way too much pastry. Good mash and chips. Dessert was a mini with hot drink which was a great idea as a mouthful each was enough and only one of us drinks coffee The highlight was the young waitress who served us. She was eager to please I suspect new to the job. Suffice to say we had a reasonable evening but in honesty couldn’t recommend and probably won’t be returning for a while.

Fabulous meal for 6 adults and 3 children .. service exemplary ..card from the pub and banners for birthday boy (37 ) can’t rate you highly enough. Thank you Green Man team you are outstanding ❤️❤️

First time visitors, reviews were favourable, so decided to book table of six for Mothers Day, and must say it was very good, service, food, ambiance and value for money could not be faulted, definitely worth a visit.

Came in today on Mothers’ Day. Always such a warm welcome here, feels like a home from home. Lovely big roast dinners on a Sunday. Cosy fire in the bar area. Friendly staff - shout out to Emily, Tony and Toby. TBF they all work their derrières off. I’m sure we’ll be back again soon. Also, try the Katsu curry if you’re hungry!

Mothering Sunday lunch. Warm and welcoming. Friendly and helpful management and staff. Lovely pub with a nice atmosphere.

been to the pub many times for lunch, but yesterday the roast beef option was rubbish.... the so called sirloin beef was so thin, rare, full of fat and sinew, unelidable, (btw but the dog loved the doggie bag)! if you advertise sirloin roast beef it has to be editable the veg and rest of the meal was good! not good, in fact a bad experience the chef should be ashamed!

Called in for a cup of Tea, and to order food. Less than friendly, did not make tea in pot despite ordering a POT OF TEA. Then spilled milk all over table. Not even an apology

Really exceptional service. We went here for a family birthday lastnight and Tony overheard us talking about birthday celebrations so came out with a birthday card, totally unexpected and my son was so touched. Then he brought a complimentary pudding with "Happy birthday " written on the plate in chocolate! A real surprise and so appreciated. Apart from this, the food was all excellent, very good value,and the service fantastic. I'd highly recommend. Lovely warm cosy pub with great food and lovely people, thanks to Tony and all the team!

I visited for dinner with my son and we both agreed the service was excellent, attentive and friendly. We both started with the focaccia which was tasty but perhaps a had a little too much rosemary for our tastes. Both mains were excellent, I had the beef rib bourguinon and my son enjoyed the macaroni cheese. The bill was also very reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely visit again.

I was disgusted a lot of the menu was unavailable. Reason they are changing over to the winter menu and are trying to get rid of what they have left. Lasagna was not crossed out so that’s what I ordered! Guess what there was no lasagna left. Then for desert I asked if I could have the mini desert but would it be possible to have the mini chocolate brownie and the mini strawberry cheesecake instead of a drink that goes with the mini desert option. I also said I didn’t mind paying extra. Again, guess what, the answer was sorry we cannot possibly do that. So not only was the menu woefully lacking, but they cannot or will not adapt to the diners request. If it had not been for the fact, I was with my stepdaughter and my deceased husbands brother, as soon as I had seen the pitiful menu I would have walked out. The same goes for the desert fiasco if it wasn’t for the people I was with I would definitely have asked for the manager, and made a formal complaint. As my husband died a few weeks ago. I could not bring myself, to upset the two people I was with, by walking out or making a complaint while I was there. My advice is stay away from the Green Man it’s not worth going there

If I could give this half a circle then I would. We had a table booked for 8 of us. We sat down with a table of 6 behind us. In the corner was a table of 4. There was no room between our table or the table behind so as people moved of the corner table they were barging past us and so we’re the staff with plates and drinks. The food took a very long time to arrive. We spoke to the staff and they just kept on apologising. We had been waiting for 50mins for food before we asked again where it was. We got told it’s very busy today but they were still taking bookings but they couldn’t cope with what was in there. When we asked again about the food We got told we only ordered 30mins ago. We explained we came in at xx:xx we ordered drinks straight away then ordered the food 5 mins later as we all knew what we were having. The staff were adamant we only ordered 30mins ago. The staff started to set up the table in the corner and the table behind us for 6. We explained to the staff do they have to set both tables up for the amount of people while we had a table for 8. When we explained the situation one of the staff members was slamming items down on the table and hitting the table which was very unprofessional. Just before we had all decided to leave 1hr 20mins later we got our food. They then brought us a wrong meal and guy who came out with it just stood there as of to say what do I do. He then asked us again if anyone had the beef roast again telling him we didn’t order it. We ate the meal and asked for the bill straight away. Unfortunately the bill for us could of been a lot more as we were drinking beer, Red & White wine and would of had a lot more drink including desserts. We have had many nice meals at Greene King’s including Macclesfield & Manchester but have never experienced anything like this. We come down to the area every 3 months but will never go here again. It will be interesting if I get a reply about this. I presume this will be the manager that replies. I will also be emailing the area manager about this as I know a few Greene King managers who can point me in the right direction.

Booked a table for 6 for a family birthday. The service was not good, three young waitresses looking after the second of the restaurant and they were nowhere near attentive enough. They were happily chatting and even looking over at me trying to get attention but not responding. I had to ask to order food, ask again for desserts and ask for the bill. After the bill is brought it should be clear the customer is ready to pay, after 10 minutes we all got up and went to the waitress station to ask to pay. The food was brilliant, lovely Sunday roast, very generous portion sizes and excellent quality. A shame the service let down the experience.

Fantastic staff who were pleasant and professional. Although the pub was very busy, the staff were brilliant at not only squeezing us in but also finding a chair with arms for my mum who has mobility problems. The food was great too - special shout out for the gammon which was beautiful and the fact that the chef manages to fry eggs which are dippy (a skill which many chefs seem to lack these days). A big thank you to the staff for making our two visits this last week a very enjoyable experience.

I visited the Green Man for lunch with my brother after completing some business in Lavendon. From the outside it looks quite olde worlde with its whitewashed walls and thatched roof while the inside is more modern. We had been there in May 2022 after attending an uncle’s funeral and the pub had put on a great spread. We were welcomed on arrival and served our drinks by a friendly barmaid. It was her first day and she was training but she pulled me a pint of Greene King IPA perfectly and my brother had a bottle of Peroni 0%. There was a choice of restaurant with table service or seated bar area (where we sat ). We both chose the Beef and Ale pie with chips and broccoli and gravy boat on the side. Service was quick (perhaps because it was a Wednesday and low occupancy) and warned by the waitress that it was very hot. It was a proper pie filled with meat and had a good, thick, shortcrust pastry which looked hand thrown - not one of those pies in a dish with a bit of puff pastry balanced on top!!! The chips and broccoli were fine too and for the price, it was good value. My only negative comment was that I did burn my mouth on the first mouthful but then again, I had been warned! Overall it was a good lunch served by very friendly staff in pleasant surroundings. One last point, the toilets were spotlessly clean and in my experience as an environmental scientist, if that’s the case, the kitchen will be the same!

Went for Birthday lunch for my wife ,somewhere different from usual places. Greeted at door by Sue and shown to table. Drinks soon arrived and she took our orders. Meals arrived after a short wait. All meals were superb,even managed a dessert.

Staff lovely, food awful. Cauliflower cheese was inedible, pigs in blankets pale and cold, yorkshire pudding hard and cold the rest of the roast was cold and gravy was like dirty dishwater...so runny. Childs pizza was inedible. I ordered chicken burger in the end as daughter said was OK. Rest of the family didn't bother as put off but I was so hungry. We had a full refund so thank you but won't return.
