Lovely afternoon pint on the river. Great choices of beers.

Must admit was slightly nervous when arriving at the Grain Barge for a group lunch, but once on board was blown away by the food and the staff. Mussels were some the best we have had in the UK, chowder was great as well, and the staff were outstanding. A great relaxed atmosphere, wonderfull views up and down the harbour. Would fully recommend, and we could bring our dog along!

Today a staff member helped us in a crisis. This person was understanding of my daughter's situation and helped. Thank you for helping us 😍 with our specific request and need. Fantastic staff, food and cider, always a great place to be. Xx

As i write now i am sitting on the top deck of the establishment posting this Saturday night. I have had a thoroughly unpleasant experience tonight. In the Hold a loud wedding event is going on supported by live Abba? singers the base line shaking the floor. I had been invited down to the Hold but in being served a drink down there it became apparent that itbis a private function now going on. A somewhat heavy handed barman said we had to leave.i have no problem paying for drinks i am not on the guest list- and assume the bar is paid by the organisers- but the public have to go down to the hold in any case to use the toilets and yet when I look around the top deck, right now, function goers are on the top deck drinking too! The atmosphere is terrible by the clash of music played on the top deck against that on the hold deck. If the owners cannot close the boat for private functions or allow the top deck custom to go down on a Saturday night the business is sinking. I wont be recommending this place again and the private party should check it's drinks tab

Food was overcooked for myself and my date. Guy behind the bar was passive aggressive. Terrible acoustics when there's a group of people in there, can't hear yourself talk

Came here with a colleague for lunch. Really chilled vibe to the place with excellent views up and down Bristol Quay. Lunchtime food is excellent, I can reccoment the salmon bagel. Which was a big plate of food. I did not need an evening meal, that's for sure.

Sadly, this place was a letdown. The menu was uninspiring, leaving very little to get excited about. The service was miserable—unhelpful and disinterested throughout our visit. Portion sizes were disappointing, and the quality of the food fell far short of expectations. The vegan sausage was embarrassingly presented, and everything we asked for was apparently unavailable. To make matters worse, the burger we tried to order was out of stock, only for us to see a staff member on their break enjoying it. The prices are ridiculously inflated for what you actually get. Overall, a hugely disappointing experience that I can’t recommend. The views from the barge came at price.

Very nice, with that bloke from the Idles song. What’s more important is that he’s got his own band Heavy Lungs. Super food too.

Having lived in the area for 16 months, I have really enjoyed visiting the grain barge, until this evening! Moving away this coming wkd, I took my daughters this evening as they love the novelty of being on a boat while having a squash and a bag of crisps. The (new?) staff were rude upon arrival, no smile, and barely a word while serving. Heading back to the bar with my young daughter, they went quiet, and stared at us as we ordered again. My daughter became incredibly shy. The contrast to the previous staff who were friendly and smiling is vast. What a shame we picked one of our last nights here.

Great atmosphere, staff, service, guys and the best views of the harbour.

Food was really good. Service was friendly. There is a good selection of local beers. The location is very good and there is seating that have really great views of the river.

Loved having lunch on the barge. Great view of the river and was warm on the windy day out side. The food was well presented and tasty and I enjoyed being able to order the catch of the day, being a visitor from inland.

Seems to be under new management and was staffed by 3 young blokes - 2 pleasant and one with plaits who was surly. We ordered drinks and finally after at least an hour we asked to order food. The food was slow to arrive and french fries were missing as were table napkins. My friend loved her artichokes and linguine but my brie and cranberry were stuffed in a dry thick bun and the brie had no taste. The salad dressing was also tasteless. Never had such poor food in the many years I've eaten there.

Chaotic service and mediocre food. Could be a great venue. We were five for an early evening dinner. Waiting staff were rushed and not sure which meals were on the menu. Two main meals arrived well ahead of all the others and were finished before the rest of us received our food. Padron peppers were uncooked so we sent them back. They were returned to us unchanged and told they were cooked. Cheese board included a shaving of Parmesan. We managed to laugh at the comedy of errors but it was a shame to take friends who were visiting Bristol.

An excellent party venue! My friend held their engagement party here (congratulations to her, exciting!) and it was a great time. The boat is easy to access, the staff are friendly and there is surprisingly quite a bit of space in the downstairs! I ordered North Street Cider from here, it was £6.

From the outside it looks nice but when you enter the service is very poor, we did not order anything because the waiter did not care to give us a very dirty and unclean menu full of pieces of food and stains, if the menus are like this I can't imagine the hygiene their kitchen must have.

Friendly and relaxed atmosphere and great staff. The mushroom linguine is good. We caught some jazz there on a Tuesday night. Great place.

Had a cider and watched the sun set on the outer deck, then another in the cozy interior once it got too cold outside. Pay attention to the kitchen hours on the winter menu if you want a snack on a weekday afternoon - the kitchen was closed weekdays between 3-6pm! Friendly staff, good vibes throughout.

The best service I've had in years! The staff were so happy, very helpful, explained the menu options, cleared up quickly and at the right time, and then didn't keep bugging us, just let us enjoy our drinks.

The basement seating is not recommended if you’re claustrophobic. Food was not bad except the sandwiches which were dry and cold!

My experience on the Grainbarge was so, all encompassing, I didn’t have time whilst there, to realise just what a magnificent time I was enabled to have. Happily I wandered off. Many thanks to the crew, Danny, Paris, John, the one they call Macca? Plus the kitchen crew, Vinny and Ted too. The bar manager did a fine job also. Gluten free food and drinks galore! Happy New Year

Llamé para el almuerzo y estaba muy contento de que lo hicimos. Tenía el especial de pescado y patatas fritas que tenían copos de chile en la masa y como guarnición en la parte superior. Una primicia para mí y absolutamente brillante. Rebozado súper nítido y ligero. Chips geniales, junto con el sarro del chef y platos de guisantes - no son las ofertas habituales, pero se ajustaron versiones para que coincida con el tema del chile. Los pasteles siempre son geniales, y esta visita no fue la excepción. Puré y salsa de primera categoría. Personal muy acogedor.

Went for Sunday Roast as we loved that there were multiple veggie and vegan options. Unfortunately my meal had a hair baked into the Yorkshire pudding, the waiter bought out a non-vegan meal for my friend after they had specifically requested twice that it was vegan with the waiter, and my partner's pie was not the flavour of the day that the waiter had said it would be and was quite dry. The staff did offer to take it off the bill which was kind. It was quite busy so hopefully just a once off, as the location is lovely and the roasts were generally nice.

Personal de espera genial pero un servicio MUY lento. Sentí que a nadie le importaba. Es bueno que tienen selecciones de verduras, pero la comida no era buena. El pastel estaba seco y la roca pastelera dura y el ñoquis estaba seco también. Es un gran escenario, pero probablemente mejor para una bebida que una comida tbh. Me di cuenta de que estaban más ocupados para las bebidas que la comida, así que tal vez todos los demás sabían!

A rare treat: good food on a boat with a view of the SS Great Britain. The Irish stout sticky toffee pud is a must.

La barcaza de grano organizó nuestra celebración de bodas a finales de septiembre de 2024. Hicieron un excelente trabajo. James (mánager) hizo todo lo posible para ayudar a organizar el evento y luego trabajó incansablemente durante la tarde y la noche para garantizar que todo funcionara sin problemas. El equipo en general también fue muy bueno siendo educado, amable y servicial en todo momento, incluso cuando estaba extremadamente ocupado. Tuvimos un gran tiempo, al igual que nuestros 75 invitados. Esto se debe en gran medida al trabajo duro y la energía de James y el equipo. Solía trabajar en hostelería, incluyendo hacer compras misteriosas, y me quedé muy impresionado. No dudaríamos en recomendar la Barcaza de Grano a otros.

Worst Sunday roast I’ve ever had

Everything about this place was above and beyond!

Just had the tastiest lunch! Had the Gambas Prawns special and omg you need to try this. Such a good sunny spot to eat on the top deck. 10/10 recommend

Even after moving away from the area, this remains my favourite boozer in Bristol. Great views, great beer and good food if you fancy it. And I can paddle up on my kayak and get a beer.

Great atmosphere good service will go again

Stopped on a Saturday afternoon just before it was starting to get busy, ideal for a beer and a quick snack, starters were good value if a bit on the small side, good range of beers, great views across the harbour

Good veggie and pesctarian food, lovely location, friendly staff, great views.

Hate to leave a bad review but unfortunately staff were a bit maxed out with a half empty venue, and food was pretty average. Had the Halloumi burger which was fairly sad, a few slim bits of fried halloumi and a bit of garnish salad leaves. Beer was good though.

Really enjoyed the Friday evening oysters, very fresh, presentation was gorgeous and the views are definitely worth a visit.

The location promised big things but was sadly let down by the most disappointing night. Food was delayed three times by announcing the kitchen had run out of yet another item on our order. The food took over 2 hours to arrive and was bland when it finally came. I have never experienced such disorganization from a kitchen in my life. It let down an otherwise perfect trip to Bristol

Been here a few times and it is a great location. Sadly, the Sunday experience was not brilliant - slow service and our order got lost so it took a few queries and an hour and a half to get our food. The bill was reduced and no service was charged. Good location and we hit a bad time - apparently four new chefs - but not great experience that time.

Marked it down because of the seagulls and pigeons that rule the outside tables. If the staff cleared empty plates they wouldn’t have this problem. Aggy seagulls are not nice company. I’d say up the standards instead of trying to be over trendy. London prices at the bar, no main brands on offer. I think the place has lots of potential to be a lot nicer.

Love this place.We've been here a few times for drinks on our weekend visits to Bristol. Staff are always friendly & super efficient service. We've not eaten, but the food always looks good, we'll definitely return, just wish we lived closer!

My pie of the day was nuclear hot and although very tasty, the wholemeal pastry was extremely tough! The prices were very good for a city located venue. Service friendly but rather haphazard. Waiter forgot to offer dessert menu for a table of 12, when we asked… the kitchen had closed!!!

They were great especially James . Good place to have a beer in the sun with good views. They treated us great and the food was very good.

Visited the Grin Barge last night. Had the good fortune to be served by a young man called Alfie. He was most helpful with a generous personality. Evenings are made by such People. Thank you, Grain Barge

High standard locally sourced food and drink. Great service and atmosphere.

Came here on Sunday for the roast. Service was not the best, several drinks not available, someone took our order for a table of 4 without a notepad, then forgot the order and had to come back again to write it down, the food came after a really long wait (we came early and nobody else was waiting before us), then a cauliflower cheese was missing and took another 10 mins to arrive. Food was quite bland, mustard mash didn’t taste of mustard, roast potatoes were extremely pale, the fish was delicious and cooked well so that’s the only dish I would recommend.

Relaxing environment with great food and drinks. Wonderful views of the river and live music on occasion.

Visitando a la familia en el Reino Unido y casi desesperados por encontrar un restaurante decente para comida vegetariana, tuvimos la suerte de encontrar este abierto cuando la mayoría de los lugares cierran los lunes. Era un poco demasiado brisa para sentarse en la cubierta superior, pero el interior era agradable y las mesas estaban razonablemente espaciadas. Había varias opciones vegetarianas / veganas y las que elegimos estaban muy bien cocinadas y atractivamente presentadas ... con un toque un poco innovador en algunas de ellas. Felicitaciones a la joven chef que logró sustituir uno de los ingredientes que no estaba disponible, según el menú, pero nos ofrecieron una segunda copa de vino, en la casa, por el "inconveniente". Mi hermano - suegro - se olvidó de mencionarlo al pagar la factura, pero el gesto fue apreciado, sin embargo. Agradecemos al resto del personal por su atención, amabilidad y eficiencia... sin duda crearon un ambiente muy memorable.

Used to love this place but last couple of visits have noticed the grime, lack of interest from bar staff and how few cask beers are on. Will give it a few years before returning.

Great place if you want to drink good beer and cider on a boat. Plenty of outdoor seating and there was a good choice of local beers. Staff were friendly and there was a really nice vibe. Food meny was pescatarian and looked great although we didn't eat.

Just went for a drink, therefore no food rating. It's a lovely setting and there is a good selection of beers. Perfect place for a few pints, overlooking the harbour.
