We tend to have a lovely brunch here. One visit (we've only been twice) they'd ran out of halloumi (that's the best thing about the veggie brunch). Slightly expensive but pretty good. Will return.

We visited this place with a couple of friends for brunch. The first issue we encountered was that they do not take bookings, so on the morning of our brunch, we had to join a virtual queue. Unfortunately, we then got stuck in traffic on the way into Worcester and when our table was ready, we weren’t… Luckily, the staff offered to hold our table until we arrived, which was a relief! The brunch itself was great, we all thoroughly enjoyed the foods. I would highly recommend the banana waffle. The only issue was the slow service. I think because it is such a popular cafe, the staff can’t keep up with the tables, which is a shame.

Slow service every time we go, yes they are busy but they also have a lot of staff and not a lot of them are friendly. We had to chase our coffees which came way after the food itself! It's a shame they've had poor reviews for a year and are not taking the feedback on board, they could do so much better if they addressed the service.

We've been before but it's nowhere as good as it used to be, the staff are nice but seem very short handed. Food doesn't come with the drinks, the butter for my toast was liquid and went everywhere,not offered jam or marmalade, it was hard to get served and or pay. Sorry! Won't come back any time soon. Please get more staff

Me and my best friend were invited back for a complimentary breakfast/brunch after our first visit was terrible by the Manager/Director Dickie. On arrival we told a female waitress that we were here and to let him know as he had requested so that he could “look after us”. We then placed our food and drink order, which again was a very long delay, only to receive missing items once it finally did arrive. When we finished our food we decided to go outside and finish our drinks. At which point we made a waiter aware we were finished and that we were going outside to finish our drinks and to make the manager aware. He came back to us at the table inside, after saying he had spoken to the manager directly and had assured us that bill was sorted and we could leave. Having finished our drinks outside and then leaving and walking down the road, a young waiter called and chased us down the road, in front of everybody outside making us feel like we had just walked out without paying for our bill. He then informed us that we couldn’t leave as the manager had a question about the bill and to wait for him to come back? Which he didn’t and hadn’t come over to us at any point during the 2 hours that we were there. To which we then decided to come in and speak to him directly and somehow he had no idea that we were even there? Which is obviously not true as he had a member of his staff chase us down the road to question the bill. This had been utterly unacceptable, embarrassing and we’ve been made to feel like, in front of a very busy restaurant that we’re criminal's because everyone stared and started talking as we left. Sent this email to Dickie the Director and still have heard absolutely nothing. Terrible! Another really disappointing visit because of him.

I met with friends at Goodroots and have never been before. I was rather apprehensive due to the previous reviews I had read about waiting a long time, but maybe because it was a Wednesday in February we had no wait at all really. The place is quite basic and very noisy as it was busy and they have quite loud music playing. Dogs are welcomed and there were quite a few in there. The waiters were friendly and wiped our table after I requested it as it was dirty from the previous occupants. The menu, which is on their website, is very different to the average cafe but overpriced for what you get, and it takes a little translating to work out what some of the choices are! Once home I did have a query with the bill and emailed them, Dickie came back very quickly to tell me the prices on their website were incorrect and I had not been overcharged as I thought, although I did think that the prices on the menu in the cafe were the same as their website, but cannot confirm that. Overall a mixed experience.

Atmos and service remain ‘on point’ however my food was a disgrace and really poor value for money. £9 for one piece of toast with a thin SMEAR of avocado and a meagre SPRINKLING of feta plus COLD poached eggs. I didn’t make a fuss as my meal was bought for me and I was with friends. When an eatery is popular substantial amounts of money are no doubt accrued, however, people get greedy. Enough said.

Lovely visit on our wedding anniversary for a snack. Friendly atmosphere, latte lovely, fruit loaf tasty. Thanks so much!

They try to give the impression of a relaxed and welcoming cafe, but when you get they’re you’re welcomed with a curt “have you booked.” To which the answer is usually no as who books a coffee in advance? The main person on the tills always seems stressed out and inconvenienced by you daring to request a coffee from a coffee shop and woe betide you if decide to sit at a table outside without prior written permission from the lord. Last time I went, was told “it’ll be about a 40 minute wait” by the sullen one - I thought that was unreasonable but I accepted it. The the waitress comes over after 40 minutes to take our order - takes it and tells us “it’ll be about 40 minutes is that ok?” The whole time I just saw waiters stood around sipping espresso and having a nice chat. When I left all of a sudden they were interested. There are plenty of other places in Worcester that do a brilliant breakfast and don’t treat you like you’re an inconvenience or lucky to be there.

The menu wasn’t extensive but the choices were good and the food tasty. From start to finish though the services was not friendly. Waiting 45 minutes for what was essentially a burger is way to long:Even though they were quite busy. No one came to update us and when it was served the waiter quickly served the food and moved on, no word about how long it had taken. When paying it was assumed we would give a tip: something we always try to do. However the long delay, the unfriendly service and that assumption meant we declined the tip. The food is worth going for if you’re ok with all the other aspects

Big disappointment. Was looking forward to it, but won’t go again after today. Food took forever to come out. Never received our tap water. My son and husband both ordered breakfast butties. My son’s had hot sauce instead of ketchup which made him leave half of it. I complained to waitress but she tried to tell me it’s stipulated on the menu. It doesn’t explain why my husband had normal ketchup and my son had a different sauce. Food was overpriced, quality was poor. And don’t even want to think about the tea that was served to us, takes ‘builder’s tea’ to a whole other level!

Customer service v poor. On line booking system at busy times unhelpful as it doesn’t give accurate waiting times and the staff are completely disengaged from waiting customers. Shame, as the food is good, albeit on the pricey side.

Front of house took time to seat me, then said he would give me a couple minutes to decide on menu. 15mins later I left as he was focused on chatting to multiple customers for an extended period of time when they paid their bills. Tip for the business would be: ditch the front of house thing and allow customers to order at the counter and provide more focused resource on efficient serving. This can still mean good service and a friendly chat that prioritizes all your customers. The place is a nice Cafe fit out, clean and tidy and with good food and drink. Cheers

Lovely spacious dining area, clean and tidy. Great food but unfortunately the staff are not as great. Felt like it was a chore to take our order. Plates not cleared after 30 minutes of finishing our meal. No check if food was ok or more drinks needed. I felt like I was an inconvenience when I asked to pay. We visited here for a friends birthday - there were 9 of us including kids. None of my friends had been here and we visited on my recommendation so i was excited to show them what they had been missing! We arrived and quickly joined the small queue (and on the QR code!) - we noticed a lot of empty tables on arrival so didn't think we would have too long to wait. After waiting 30 mins we had still not been seated - i asked if we could sit at the empty tables outside as we had children and get some tap water which the lady at front of house reluctantly agreed to and advised she would not be able to take our order. We thought - hey that's fine at least we can look at the menu and be ready.. whilst sitting there we noticed a lot people (granted smaller groups) being seated and served... after about 10 minutes i went back to the same waitress and asked how much longer we would have to wait - she said another 10 mins... we noticed a larger table come available that would fit us on comfortably so moved tables.... but still no service... unfortunately i had to go back to the same waitress who VERY rudely pointed out that she could not serve us as we were not 'checked in on the system yet'. at this point we were about to leave and then a lovely waitress (different one may i add) came out and took our order straight away! Our food and drinks were with us withing 10 minutes of ordering and it was absoloutley delicious. Just such a shame the customer service from the main front of house waitress let our experience down on top of waiting to be served for over an hour.

We went for brunch on Fathers Day expecting a wait. When we arrived we joined the end of the queue and waited for about 25minutes. As we got closer to the front we noticed people were just walking in. I asked the front of house person what our expected waiting time would be. He was extremely rude and patronising, and asked if we had joined the virtual queue. I said no, but we had been in the queue outside for 25minutes and didnt know we needed to do this. With a theatrical flourish aimed i think to make us look stupid, in front of other customers he pointed to the board outside which had a QR code for the virtual queue, stating no one else had had issues with the system This was not in an obvious place, cannot be seen from the back of the queue and not stated it is compulsary, and no one was there overseeing the process. Whilst we were there at least 12 people had left the queue and there were empty tables outside the whole time presumably waiting for virtual people . As a family we often eat there , but due to his rudeness, and abysmal customer service, we will take our hard earned money somewhere else from now on.

We went for lunch on Fathers’s day and ended up walking away. Long queues to be expected, but poorly organised system. You have to queue and scan a QR code, which isn’t as clear as the staff believe it is! After approaching the front of a long queue we’d waited in for 20 minutes, we were told to scan the QR code and start again. There were many tables which needed wiping and clearing but had been clear of people for the 40 minutes we ended up being there. Staff were pleasant and polite, but very disorganised and disappointing system in place, so called it a day and went elsewhere. Could’ve been good, all looked good, but poor organisation meant a lot of people were let down and went elsewhere. We got a text when we went elsewhere to say our table was ready- but we didn’t know a text was going be sent as there was no confirmation of how we’d know when a table was ready.

Great Breakfast. Lovely and fresh, sausage and black pudding were superb. Will definitely be returning. Great after a walk along the river.

Opted for the Turkish Eggs breakfast and it was delicious. Highly recommended. The hot chocolate could have been hotter and more chocolatey (but that goes for most places; maybe it’s me) but in all, it as a delicious breakfast experience in nice surroundings.
