Very friendly staff. Food good. Duck salad very nice. Slightly pricey but worth it. New reno looks great. Definitely book if you are going with a group of more than 4 as gets very busy

Lovely tucked away location with great decor and equally delicious food to match. Staff were lovely and on the ball and made the visit that much more enjoyable.

Meet some friends here for Saturday lunch, it's been a few years since our last visit and although the restaurant has a very nice vibe and pleasant surroundings for me the meal was the biggest let down very bland and tastless and my wife felt the same way and did not offer good value for money, food in these type of bistros are not cheap anymore. Possible would come back but in a rush which is a shame because the restaurant is lovely.

Usually one of my favourite restaurants however the food was not as good as usual during my latest visit - the duck was overcooked and the bacon on the burger you could snap in half. The restaurant itself is still beautiful and clean, lovely atmosphere with the staff being friendly and welcoming.

Lovely venue & service however the breakfast could have been executed better. My poached eggs were cold and not runny or at least soft. Similar issues with my husband and son’s eggs. Mushrooms came with bits of soil. The rest of breakfast, coffee and hot chocolate were delicious.

Popped in today as we called into Loughborough en route to driving experience. Wow what a find! I got the pulled beef taco which was so tasty. Hubby got the hash brown with chorizo and poached egg. He absolutely loved it. The service was excellent and the staff were amazing. If we are ever down this way again we will be back

21st Daughters Birthday. This evening was booked many months ago to celebrate Mias 21st. An amazing evening had by all her Loughborough friends. Excellent menu for the evening. Hugely enjoyed and enjoyed by all. Excellent service and well attended to all evening. This was a great choice for the celebration and would fully Recommend Leanne and her team to look after all your party needs. Cannot say thankyou enough for this evenings festivities. A huge well done to all evolved.

The ambience is very up market and good service. Food was quite tasty however the mushrooms needed seasoning. What let it down was the disabled toilet it was well appointed. The door lock works differently to most disabled toilets and I was shocked when the door I thought I had locked opened. This is a common occurrence apparently which could be sorted by giving a warning of how the lock works and having a sign showing it's engaged

We had out work Christmas party at Goodliffes last week and an excellent time was had by all. We had fully paid and pre-ordered 2 weeks prior to the event, which is too be expected at Christmas. Communication with Leanne was good and she replied quickly, especially when 2 of our party were unable to attend due to illness a few days before. Their were 19 of us, our table was ready as soon as we arrived and there were already a number of other tables whose celebrations were in full swing. This provided a great atmosphere. The service was very good, especially considering the restaurant was full. All the staff were friendly, polite and efficient. The food was good and well presented. Not piping hot but warm. A few of the reviews have complained about overcooked vegetables but this wasn't our experience. I dislike 'soggy' brussels but the ones we had were cooked perfectly in my opinion. There were a number of vegetarians in our party and they commented that their meal was the best one they had had at a Christmas event. Also, the portion sizes were about right for a Christmas meal, big enough that you were able to enjoy all courses without feeling completely stuffed at the end. Saying that, the cheese plate, which I had, was huge and I ended up sharing this. There was a supplement for it, but even so, it was good value. We had a great night. So many thanks to all the Team at Goodliffes.

A complete and utter disappointment. It takes some going to get EVERYTHING wrong but last night Goodliffes managed it! We pre-booked a table of six for the Xmas Menu as an Office Team night out/celebration. Paid a deposit and pre-ordered all our food (all three courses). We were seated at a table that was out of sight of the bar and serving staff. A long wait for drinks order to be taken and then a long wait for our starters to arrive. I can only speak of my own experience but for me a prawn cocktail is more than 8 prawns on a 3 lettuce leaves covered in a tasteless pink sauce (which was described as "brandy marie rose" so I can only suppose my brandy was missed off here along with all the flavours!) and served with sliced RADISH! Really? Marie-Rose sauce is so easy to make, and this is what gives the prawns their flavour. Then after another wait, our main course arrived. A lifeless slice of rubbery stuffing, lukewarm turkey, overcooked parsnips and three roast potatoes - meals served we waited for our veg, and we waited, and we waited - by this time it was eat what you had whilst it was remotely warm. Twice we asked for the veg and after the third request it arrived in two small finger bowls with the words "here is some MORE veg"......more? We have not had any! Then the penny drops with the waitress and the apologies and the excuses start......as we sat and watched other tables tuck in to mountains of steaming hot veg, we had to make do with the smallest portion ever between 6 of us (3 of us had already finished our meal by the time this meagre portion of veg turned up). More apologies but it seems it was impossible to take anything off the bill - but they could offer us a round of free drinks! Dessert was supposed to be Eton Mess - the only thing they got right about that was that it was a mess! Would have been nice if the Manager had come over to apologise but sadly, he was too busy with the party of thirty-four who were getting all the attention. Whatever happened to customer service?

Went for Christmas Dinner 1st December. Food I'd usually good here, this was disappointing, soup was good, the main turkey dinner was not, parsnips burnt, Brussels so rock hard you could not get a fork into them or the knife to cut them, the pigs in blankets were white as though microwaved. Dessert was O.k

Popped in for coffee and cake, and made to feel and inconvenience as not having a hot meal! Ordered 3 drinks and cakes for us and ice cream for daughter. These arrived (brownie very dry!) and 10 mins later still no drinks (the places really wasn’t busy but more staff that you could count!). When went up to check were drinks were one was sat there going cold that they finally brought over and then forgot the other and finally brought it over. They seemed to not care less, too busy gossiping amongst themselves. Don’t waste your money here, go to Starbucks!

Family dinner. Four of us had an adult family dinner with a couple of shared starters and a shared desert, mains a bottle of wine and 4 G&Ts and it came to £35/head. Great value, good service.

Delightful restaurant, pleasant staff, good menu and delicious food. Early evening meal before the theatre so not in a rush which was just as well as it was hard to attract server attention, this was a little frustrating. A Thai curry with chicken and a sweet potato risotto, cheesecake and an affogato along with drinks, all for a very reasonable price especially as the wine was at a discount at that time. Well done Goodliffes, we were impressed.

fantastic home-made hash browns! Cosy, with friendly staff, lots of seating. Prepared to alter items to suit. Plenty of vegan, veg, gluten free options too. Nice out of the way spot within easy walking distance from car parks.

A group of 20 of us were celebrating a 40 year reunion of leaving school. We couldn’t have been better looked after. Flowers with 1983 cake toppers had thoughtfully been placed on the tables, - (which was a surprise when we got there ) the staff were attentive and the food was perfect. I can’t recommend highly enough eating at Goodliffes to celebrate anything special. Thanks to the team for very special evening!!

We have been here on two occasions for an early evening meal before seeing a show. Both times the food has been brilliant, served hot and delicious. Can't fault the service either; staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning.

Went out with friends just for some cocktails and wasn't made to feel pressured or rushed at all. The service was very quick and we sat outside in a very scenic garden. Very good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to suit every preference. Can highly recommend.

We stumbled across this venue by chance and the location was beautiful. It is tucked away in Loughborough but the the staff are polite and friendly. Also there is a good choice of food. The only thing I will say is if you need the toilet you need to go up some steep stairs. Overall it was a nice experience.

Loughborough University is in the top five of our youngest's choices. We arrived a little early to look around Lougborough itself before heading to the campus based uni. It's hard when you're in a place you have never been and see a variety of eateries with no prior planning in front of you, to choose from. We didn't want a greasy spoon, or haute cuisine and as we looked around we saw the A board outside Goodliffe's on Church Gate which looked like a possibility. The menu is also displayed outside the door and as we hovered over an unsuspecting ladies shoulder, she noticed us and recommended it highly. We took her recommendation and entered, the staff were young ladies, probably students themselves, all very pleasant, happy and jolly, they looked genuinely happy to be there which is always a good sign. Hubby had Morrocan mint and lamb koftas, Littlest Foodie had the roasted sweet potato and red pepper salad with avocado, beetroot hummus, rocket, toasted pumpkin seeds, lemon dressing . I didn't really fancy anything, no fault of Goodliffe's I may hasten to add, but I can never say no to cheese so I ordered the cheese board (dessert menu) and a side of garlic ciabatta. I'm glad I did, I was able to pick the bits I wanted and Hubby finished the rest - win win! The only thing I would suggest is maybe a soft cheese like Brie instead of two hard cheeses and stilton.Needless to say if Loughborough Uni is 'the chosen one' we will be visiting Goodliffe's again :-)

Visited for a family meal on a Saturday lunchtime. Had a lovely window seat so could watch the world go by. Staff were attentive and polite, and food was delicious. I had the lamb which I’d highly recommend. This restaurant is a real gem in the town. We’ll be back soon

Had too high expectations very underwhelmed First time visiting. Always looks immaculate and very inviting food on pictures looked great. Had breakfast, eggs undercooked, bacon over cooked, beans dry. Just not special in the slightest. Disappointed Venue lovely staff lovely food a let down

Definitely still one of my favourite restaurants! Food was outstanding and drinks are reasonably priced. Service was wonderful, waitresses were both really lovely and one even came over as she noticed me struggle to cut through the duck which can be a tough meat and offered me a steak knife. I had the duck which was perfect and my partner had the chicken which he said was great. Had desserts too which were so rich and good portion sizes. Honestly one of my favourites ever I will always come back here.

What a relief it is to finally write a glowing review. My partner and I had dinner here on Friday night and it was excellent. From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more accommodating. Our starters arrived promptly and were delicious. We had the Tuscan King Prawns and potted Duck & Pork rillets. Our main course, the Chicken Supreme, was equally tasty, and our desert, Chocolate Brownie and Sticky Toffee pudding finished off the best meal I have had in Loughborough since I moved to the area. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the dinning room is light, airy, and comfortable. We were thoroughly impressed, and we can’t wait to go back again soon. Absolutely fabulous!

Tucked away in a sidestreet of this university town, it was busy due to the graduation period and the lift had packed up, hence the waiting staff were stressed and getting foot weary. However, food quality was good, nice atmosphere and staff doing their best to cope in the circumstances.

Waitresses were rude, rolled their eyes at us when we asked them something. Kept getting a different waitress. Tapas were not good at all, jerk chicken bites were just covered in batter and looked and tasted like they had been refried a few times. I had read so many good reviews, so was quite disappointed. Maybe we caught them on an off day. ‍♀️

We visited with friends on a busy Friday evening. Three different staff members were involved with looking after us. All seemed genuinely friendly and smoothly efficient. We had four different main courses. All were excellent but I think that I scored the winner with the blade of beef. I had a great evening (I admit that this was partly the company) and I will definitely be going back soon.

Booked a table for lunchtime, service very good and very polite. Ordered Blade of Beef with Dauphinoise potatoes, grain mustard sauce and mushrooms. An excellent dish, the beef fell apart. My family chose other items which they said we're excellent (pork loin and Cajun chicken). We had wine and desserts. The whole experience did not disappoint.

We sat outside and the waitress didn't clean the two tables that we used, despite their being a lot of spilled sugar and general muckiness on both. I should have asked her to, but thought she would eventually notice. I have used this restaurant since it opened and never had this problem before.

We've visited 3 times in the last month or so for breakfast and I would like to give a balanced review. It's a really nice place with good decor and excellent Covid protocols! The staff are attentive, the menu is quite extensive and the prices represent decent value. The food itself has been a little hit and miss although I can only comment on the breakfast. Issues experienced range from cold bacon and most unusual tasting greasy hash browns. However we do expect to return again soon.

Goodliffes has always looked interesting, located near the top of Churchgate in the town, but I have never been before, so time to visit!We had a late Sunday lunch, I had pork and my partner, chicken supreme. The plates were full, with plenty of meat and a very good quantity of vegetables. The food was flavoursome, the service was courteous, friendly and attentive. Not enough room for dessert, unfortunately.You could have an all day brunch if you preferred and there are some veggie options.Price wise, I'd say it was average, but well worth the money. Would we go back? Yes, definitely.

Trip to Loughborough to spend day with eldest - lunch here was superb - service was excellent and the food first class! Strongly recommend if you want something straight forward (my son had fish and chips) or something a little more adventurous (excellent red snapper!)

Lovely meal out with family. Came here while visiting my daughter. In our group we had two vegans a vegetarian and a fussy child. They really did have something for everyone. All the meals looked and tasted wonderful. Staff were friendly and we didn’t feel rushed. Extremely good price x

Came here as they offer vegan and vegetarian options.Ordered the vegan breakfast and a vegetarian breakfast. Both serious about not eating meat and cross-contamination!Drinks were great no faults at all.Breakfast came - no vegan butter for ciabatta toast, no salt or pepper. Spinach was gritty and very burnt. They forgot the avocado on the vegan breakfast so I mentioned this.Then while eating mushrooms found bacon crispy fat bits and immediately brought this to the attention of the manager. Chef must have cooked bacon in the same pan as mushrooms and then had the mushrooms sitting on the side to add onto different breakfasts. Manager would not believe it and stood their ground believing that their kitchen is perfect and adheres to food practices 100%. But this is not always the case and staff can do things they are not supposed to. So please listen to customers. I think they did a great job offering vegan and vegetarian options but need to make sure staff are sticking to food handling rules within the kitchen.Management gave a refund.. but don't think I will visit again. Sorry

Not been here for a while and I suppose the 'eat out help out' scheme encouraged us to eat out on a wednesday and I suppose that's what it supposed to do!! All I can say is my little family loved it!!Wife & daughter had the mussels and the chef was happy to do this as a main course for them both beautiful with some lovely breadDaughter no.2 had the pasta special off the specials board and loved itI had the most amazing and believe you me so tasty and looked so amazing to the fact I found it hard to wait till everyone's dinner was on the table, the confit pork belly AMAZING sums this dish up.Thank you goodliffes your attentions to covid and looking after guests was great!! However the quality of the food makes you forget about the current life situation!!

Decided to visit this week in order to help out, feel normal and generally not have to cook for myself. Resturant is spotless. Theres multiple hand sanitiser points if you are that fearful you feel you need to bathe in it. Tables very well laid out. Plenty of space. No condiments but they are offered during your meal service. Staff were great. Very informative and happy. Not too attentive as i think they forgot about me but it wasnt the end of the world. They sport face shields. Over the top if you ask me but i get it. It could be a bit daunting for some.Good to see some of the choices still available from last years menu. A firm favourite being the blade of beef. I can reccommend that. This time as a lone diner i went for a dressed salad starter and the pan fried swordfish. Salad was great. Swordfish presentation was superb. The veg in particular the leeks were stringy and i think the fish a tad overcooked. No one asked if it had been ok but never mind. Must say the place and the staff were superb given our current world.Id definately recommend as its a very well organised and of course always safe environment. All things considered the staff are doing a grand job. Book a table. Go. Support local business.

Food arrived in good time and as always looked and tasted fantastic.Will continue return to this place because it one of the few places where they get it right consistently.

Popped in off the cuff as walked by and looked welcoming and decided I fancied a treat after so long not been able to have that freedom. Was superb and the staff were very friendly and Covid secure. I had a burger and it was delicious and also booked a table for the same time next week as limited covers because of the distance between the tables. Can highly recommend and better than any chain, we need to support these independent businesses. I remember when the building was a charity shop so it’s a much better use as this lovely restaurant. Looking forward to next Wednesday already ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very good breakfast. Good service. We visited here 4 days after they opened again and glad to see the food hasn't changed ( a good sausage and black pudding). We prefer the new table arrangement as well.

We booked an evening table, would recommend booking as limited seating due to social distancing. Tables were properly spaced out and there were sanitising stations on the wall. I only saw two staff, one waitress wearing a mask and another waitress wearing a visor. Restaurant was exceptionally clean to my high standards in this current covid crisis. The atmosphere was beautiful, peaceful with soft lighting. The food was superb! I had the pirk belly with pea and chorizo risotto which was incredible. My partner had a burger which he said was also good. Drinks are reasonably priced and there's parking nearby. I will definitely be returning!

Lovely food. Very friendly. Lovely and spacious doesn't feel too cramped. Would definitely visit again and recommend.
