Nice place to enjoy a few cold ones. I've not tried the food there but it does look pretty good from what I've seen.

What another fantastic night, myself and friends went for the Caribbean meal it was just so delicious, and thankyou for my special dish it was much appreciated. Thankyou to John, Penny and Tara, we will definitely be back for the next theme night.

John and his team amazing as always, we had a fantastic meal and drinks, my son and me had beef and blue cheese pie mash and mushy peas , my daughter had fish and chips, hubby had the trio of tacos, absolutely faultless, would fully recommend a visit!!

Lovely pub one of the best in Antley best Cobbs in town. I went there for me mates wedding Steve Punchchard, and had a ball at this pub. Can’t wait to come back.

The old hare is my old local and it’s refreshing to not only visit an old local and it’s not only still running but the best you’ve ever known it the food is amazing tasty and great value and they still keep a good pint I’m a real ale drinker and their beers are spot on and also good value keep it up guys see you in October

Fantastic Sunday Lunch today - succulent roast beef n pork served with perfectly cooked veggies n Yorkshire puds. Generous portions n we only had the small plates! Warm welcome n a fast n friendly service. Will defo be back when we're next in the area.

First time visiting for food since being under new management. Menu was Sunday roasts, with a vegetarian option. I was really impressed with the service, portion sizes, variety of veg, and quality of the ingredients, but most especially the size of the Yorkshire pudding! Really appreciated that lunch arrived with an extra gravy boat so that we didn't need to ask for more. The slices of beef were quite chunky, so could have been a little thinner for me, but this is just personal preference. Definitely recommend if you're in the area, I would advise booking, as we only saw 1 table not booked, and get there earlier rather than later, as by 2:30 they were starting to run out of choices of meat and extras.

Went again and we all had the burgers. 2 adult burgers and 2 kids burgers. Ive always thought you can judge good pub food by the steak and burgers. The rest you can you almost be sure will be good. And yet again we were all very happy. Pound for pound this is the place to go. You can go to the badgers set and get the same quality and pay almost double without the staff looking after you like they do at the hare and hounds. Booked again for next friday, and finally we have a place down the road serving excellent good value pub food.

Heard about the new menu. So we were keen to give it a try, and im glad we did. The kids burger was adult size and for just under 8 quid it will would fill any adult, and was cooked to perfection with a big portion of chips. We both had the sirloin steaks which were just as good, and pound for pound this is the best value pub food youll find in the anstey and the surrounding villages, without any shadow of a doubt. We had the peppercorn sauce and were also given a complimentary garlicy herb sauce which was 10/10. We will definitely be going back and i would highly recommend giving it a go! This is what anstey has missed for years!!!!!!

We came out for dinner, my partner had sausage and mash, which looked and tasted amazing, the sausages were bratwurst style presented beautifully. I had the hunters chicken. The chicken was not dry and grilled to perfection, the BBQ sauce was perfectly proportioned and didn’t overpower the dish, the salad had a subtle dressing which complimented it wonderfully. I’m looking forward to trying other dishes.

Fantastic little village pub. Bar staff were welcoming, and the chef was obviously proud of his skills as It was nice to have food on a plate that all individual parts of the meal were hot and cooked well. We will definitely return.

Mostly locals eating and drinking, staff all super friendly and service was good. Carpark is tiny. Food wasn't great for us, it's was OK, could eat it and gulled us up but the quality wasnt brilliant but the menu isn't expensive

Often pop in for a drink as local to the Hare, but would like to share our amazing dining experience last night. 20 of us booked for their 3 course festive menu. We did this last year too but the food this year was so much better with their new chef. Completely surpassed our expectations and the service was brilliant. Everything ran smoothly and nothing was forgotten, which with 20 people for 3 courses I wouldn’t have blamed them! Bar staff were kind and friendly as always. Will definitely be returning for food in the new year!

We went on Thursday for steak night with friends. All 4 meals were brought out together, piping hot, and well presented. No complaints whatsoever and all four plates full were demolished in no time at all! Compliments to the chef. Certainly recommend a visit. I know i will return.

Went for a drink the other day only to find my glasses had been handled where you drink from? This wouldn't usually be an issue but with the amount of winter bugs going around this worries me as it seems top hygiene isn't the number one priority here! Not one staff member was seen washing their hands! I've also heard that a little while ago one staff member was seen blowing their nose right before serving? I know I won't be visiting again!

Had a brilliant Cowboy Burger it was cooked to perfection & was one of the best Burgers ( including many in America) I have ever had !

We had picked out this pub online when were looking for a place for a nice relaxing meal, but on entering the premises decided it did not match expectations it was very rundown and did not gave a dining room.

Visited here yesterday for a light bite and a catch up and was welcomed by the owner who was friendly and witty . We had a lovely lunch. The pudding was lovely too 😋 definitely be back next time visiting in anstey. Also there is safe parking as it is locked up overnight . A very responsible landlord . Thanks for letting me keep car there overnight !!

This is a fantastic locals' pub in the heart of the village. The pub is quirky, with several cosy little areas inside and a great outside seating area at the back. The selection of drinks and food is brilliant and all reasonably priced. The staff and locals are friendly, and there's always something going on - from bands and karaoke to the famous cheese night!

We've driven past the Old Hare and Hounds hundreds of times but never been in. Fancied a steak on Thursday and saw they were doing a steak night so decided to give it a try. We both really enjoyed our meals - the steaks were cooked to perfection and accompanied by mushrooms, tomatoes, onion rings, peas and chips. All delicious! Great value and everyone was really friendly. So pleased we went!

Been here a few times now and have felt very welcomed as someone not from the area. Drinks are a good rate especially a glass of wine ! Outdoor seating area is lovely and private. Staff and locals have been friendly and helpful.

Popped in for a drink, was charged £4.55 for a lemonade and lime. When asked if the price was correct was told "yes, dear isn't it." Sat out back, a few tables next to the carpark. Probably won't return again.

Always a great night at the hare the events that are booked are fantastic and the food (especially the ultimate southern fried chicken burgers and the steaks) are stunning and well priced! Great atmosphere and a great laugh!

Was here last night with family and friends, it was steak night, we all had rump steak, all cooked to what we asked for, medium, cooked to perfection , service was fantastic, very attentive staff couldn't do enough for us, John and his team are fantastic, would definitely return.

Raining all day so decided to take a walk to our local. Ordered a Southern Fried Chicken Burger. Perfectly cooked and so much I could not finish it all.
