Superb Chinese food. I always buy my takeaway from here and I am never disappointed. Delicious with a huge menu and great variety. Friendly staff and a fast and efficient service..... Happy....!

Oh wow... think they emptied the sugar bowl into the Lemon Chicken almost inedible! The Pineapple fritter was fine, nice sharpness to it but the chicken.... yuck

Absolutely awful food!! Chinese takeaway. We had ordered several different dishes all of them disgusting! Upon leaving the establishment I also realised they only had a three for food hygiene. Children taking orders with no manners. Very disappointing, will never visit again.

By far the worst food I’ve ever seen, ordered chicken fried rice but received special fried rice and I’m allergic to sea food. Beef curry turned to congealed jelly similar to dog food as soon as put on the plate and when I called to complain I got shouted at by the manager telling me I was wrong! On top of this I waited 40 mins after pick up time because the food wasn’t ready. Be advised stay away!

We've had a take away from here about 20 times and 90% of the time its brilliant. Weve experienced a few times where its more oily then others or over cooked, however majority of the time it's great. Don't order the fish & chips (unless you get salt & chillie chips) from here as it specialises in Chinese and Oldfields is opposite.

as last time it didn't arrive. Trouble is I ordered pineapple fritters and got banana instead. Rang to let them know and was told that's what I ordered but it wasn't

Went there today around 17:45 and had two lots of fishcake and chips. Fishcakes were ok but the chips had a horrible taste like the oil they were cooked in was contaminated with something. My partner had the same as me and thought the same regarding the chips. I wont be visiting again. Very disappointed:-(

Old school Chinese with no card payments and no website. I don't understand how this place gets bad reviews? The food in my opinion is good quality and importantly always tastes fresh. I always find the meat in a lot of Chinese restaurants taste a bit off like its been preserved or something but here its all good. Even if it wasn't my local I would travel for the food here.

This place has been there for years, there were a couple of guys sat waiting for their orders, so thought must be good ~ WRONG I chose sweet & sour tofu & mushroom fried rice. Sat down to wait & the guys were commenting about how long they had been waiting, they wern't very happy but was joking about it I assume the next person who came in was a delivery driver, he spoke to his colleague behind the counter, well what a VILE attitude she had ~ disgraceful & when she had finished giving him what for, she proceeded to give us the most evil looks. One guy got his food, then MINE came out straight away ~ ooops the other guy wasn't happy & Miss Happy barked at him 'WHAT DID YOU ORDER' We were nervously laughing as we left, it was REALLY uncomfortable, that girl really doesn't need to be working in a customer facing role. PLEASE DO NOT EAT TOFU HERE, they have clearly put it on the menu as a token gesture & have no idea what to do with it, it was in inch long oblongs, the texture of really tough, spongy omelette ~ even the dog had to really chew it & she just swallows everything !!it had no taste at all, the bit of sauce was watery, the few bits of pepper were pretty raw, honestly the WORST take away I ever remember having. And not awfully cheap at £9.40 !!

We have had several take aways now, and each time it has been really good. We chose prawn dishes and we thoroughly enjoyed it. So refreshing to have hot, good quality tasty food. We had almost given up on Chinese take aways because our experience is usually “rubbery” prawns or chicken, YUK! But so far, so good.

Had the chicken curry and rice with a chow mein last night. Chow mein was ok but chicken curry the worst I've ever had the misfortune to taste! God knows what they do to the chicken but it was slimey and very soft. Will never order from them again. Utter waste of £30. Also spent most the night awake with stomach churning so very tired and annoyed today.

I was very worried about ordering from this Chinese just from the reviews I had seen. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal from here or ever had a upset stomach afterwards. I started ordering from here about six months ago. The staff are friendly and patient- Even if they're very busy. The only reason why I haven't put 5 stars is just because the chips could be cooked for a little longer. Thank you for my delicious meal last night.

Whilst the wait for food delivery is typically 40 minutes, the food arrives quite hot. Which is fantastic, the last thing you want is stone cold food. However, we regularly order from Golden Fish Bar and sometimes, we've gone to bed with a gurgling stomach and desperate for the loo. The place can be hit or miss. Sometimes the food is outstanding and other times, it's looks and tastes as if they've just reheated day old food...

The fish and chips we ordered were top notch. No shortage of chips, done to perfection, the fish is the biggest and best ever. Our favourite stop when we are in that area, which is often. We will be back.

Tenía pescado y patatas fritas una noche, en las primeras horas de la mañana siguiente (a las 2 de la madrugada) mi cuerpo necesitaba 'evacuar' todo desde mi estómago, que estaba enfermo y tenía, el pescado diahorea definitivamente fuera de evitar este lugar! Después de 5 días me acabo de conseguir.

Tras un intento de visita aquí en los últimos años siempre ha sido cerrado, pero sorprendentemente estaba abierto esta noche por una vez. Así que me pareció un bonito pescado y patatas fritas, sería precioso, pedí mi pescado y patatas fritas, hamburguesa de queso y una parte de guisantes blandos. Cuando llegué a casa me iba a descubrir un jet pelo negro en mi hamburguesa, la hamburguesa también estaba seco. Los guisantes blandos parecía que se sentaban en la nevera durante días. La pasta estaba pasada y sólo terribles, 9. 40 para esta mierda nunca más. Qué risa de lugar. También puede cerrar para bien o decirle a la gente más que mejor!

The worst fish and chips I have ever tasted. The fish definitely was not fresh and it had been over cooked ( or cooked to many times), very dry. Chips not much better. Through it in the bin.

Ordenó nuestra comida se entregan - orden 800 desaparecidos. Conductor dijo alguien que estaría de vuelta con los elementos faltantes. Nadie llegó tan llamado para ver donde estaba la comida. Persona en el telefono fue muy grosero y dijo que nadie sería entregar y conducir a ellos para conseguir el dinero para los elementos faltantes. Pérdida de tiempo. Las funciones de la primavera tuvimos eran pasada y desagradable. ¡Nunca más!

I have the same thing all the time and I love it beef fried rice with curry sauce 👍🏼 good service, nice staff and reasonable prices I believe I have had one Chinese better which is situated in witchurch

Lovely local Chinese, normally have to wait 10 mins for Chinese. Great chips and curry sauce high recommend

The Golden Fish Bar has been a mainstay of Oldland village for many years. They do good fish & chips but we usually go there for Chinese food. We always get a tasty meal and its good value for money.

Really friendly staff especially the girl who does the phone orders, love the Chinese ! great delivery service too!

I always phone in advance and the food is great quality. The fish and chips are excellent the size of the fish is amazing and chips are always well cooked. I also find the Chinese meals very good just wish they had a card machine.

After a lovely day out with my family, we thought about having a chinese takeaway for dinner. After talking to family members, The Golden Fish Bar in Oldland Common was recommended as they delivered to our area and we were assured that the food was great. After placing our order over the phone, we were asked for our address, which we gave and there was a bit of a disagreement between 2 members of staff (which I have since discovered were the owner and his daughter) when the daughter came back on the phone, we were told that they would not deliver as they only had 1 driver and they were only serving local orders! why offer a delivery service if you are unable to provide it? I was more than willing to pay the £3 delivery charge! After the appalling treatment we received, we WILL NOT be calling again.
