We had a fantastic Sunday lunch and the service was wonderful. Thank you for looking after us so well. Highly recommend.

We’ve been to the GB around 5/6 times now, always on a Sunday as the roasts are so good. Great portions of tasty veg and wonderfully cooked melt in your mouth meat. I have not been anywhere in many years that comes close to delivering such a great roast. The service - always a warm friendly welcome on arrival but service can sometimes be a bit chaotic, you’ll get asked the same question from 3 different waitresses and then sometimes they forget, but be patient, it’s definitely worth a visit.

I highly recommend The Golden Ball. We recently held my Dad’s wake at the pub, everyone commented on how amazing the food and atmosphere was. We opted for a hot and cold buffet which was all so fresh and many of the items were homemade. Chelsey and her team really looked after us, they were all so warm and caring. The conservatory area was lovely and the team put up photos of my Dad in his memory. One reason we picked The Golden Ball was because my Dad had been for dinner and was telling everyone it was “the best fish and chips” he’d ever had! A pretty good review considering he was 85. We will definitely be back. Many thanks to the whole team for making the celebration of my Dad’s life so special.

We are locals and really like The Golden Ball. We sat outside tonight, had delicious food and as always the staff were brilliant. It's also a good place for a drink outside in summer. The pub is family run and you always get a warm welcome. Highly recommend!

We visited for a Sunday roast and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent and very attentive. The pub itself is beautiful with a lovely garden. The roast dinner was probably one of the best I have had in a very very long time! It comes with all of the trimmings! I had the vegetarian option and the nut roast was lovely! All the other guest who ate meat loved theirs. Would highly recommend.

Our visit was to celebrate a 35th (Coral Anniversary) today 07/07/24 - no wow wow wow……..it was much,much,much better than that. Staff were absolutely amazing, no hassle, v polite & down to Earth. The food was (without using bad language) DELICIOUS. I forgot to say compliments to the Chef - please pass on. Will be back & recommend - book a table NOW.

We went to the Golden Ball for Sunday lunch on Sunday 28th April with my family for my Birthday meal! I can honestly say it was the best roast we have ever had! They were very busy but we had excellent service would def recommend! Xx

A wonderful kind friendly welcome from our host Chelsea. We were created with if Seconds of arriving. The pub was lovely and clean. We visited on a Friday evening around 1900, we expected it to be very busy but it was great! It got busy at 1930 yet the staff were able to serve and seat everyone. The staff kept smiling and asking us if everything was ok. Everything was perfect. We only waited around 8-10 mins for our food! The food was absolutely wonderful! I had the Fish which was very fresh with lovely chips and the tartar sauce even had caviar on the top to garnish. My partner had Asian pulled beef rib burger. The meat simply melted it was so well cooked! Everything on both our plates had great flavour and portion size was just right. I used the washroom facilities and with it being a Friday I expected them not to be clean but they were clean and smelled fresh. There is a lovely outdoor seating area with heaters. The patio was very clean and also very tidy. Inside there were lots of real candles giving the place a lovely cozy feeling. The pub is also puppy dog friendly both inside and out. Overall it was such a pleasure to visit here for a meal while on our way to Heathrow. The staff were absolutely outstanding! They made us feel so welcome and cared for! I highly recommend this place! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING LOVELY PLACE AND PEOPLE!

We have been to the GB many times since Chelsey and her family took over and it has always been awesome. However, this was the first time that we have ever been there for a roast. We had heard good things but our expectations were smashed this Sunday. Staff and service were excellent but the food was the stand out star, I have had a lot of roast but this was something else. We had the beef which was perfectly cooked, there were many delicious accoutrements and the portions were generous. Stand out star was the yorkshire pudding which was filled will pulled pork and parmesan mash. Would return just for that. Well done GB team!

Went for lunch with 3 girlfriends on a cold Sunday in February. Such a delicious roast, we all enjoyed it. Very friendly staff who looked after us well. I am booked to go back again in April 🙂

If you are looking for the best Sunday Lunch then look no farther this is the perfect place you are made to feel welcome, it is very cosy and comfortable and the Sunday lunch is THE best some had the sticky toffee pudding and tell me it was the best they have ever had when eating out.

We went recently with friends. Food was fantastic, staff were attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. The pub is run by and brother (chef) and sister (manager) and we highly recommend.

Booked a table for 9 for a family birthday celebration. We arrived early for drinks and the table was ready & waiting. Lovely friendly staff & very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. I came here for the first time with a group of friends one of whom highly recommended it. A slightly strange start in that I asked at the bar if I should get a glass of tap water there or if it would be on the table? I was given a heavy bottle to carry to the table but no glass and when I asked if the glasses were on the table there was no response. After about 15 minutes of sitting at the table with no glasses, another member of our team went up to the bar to get glasses but returned with another heavy bottle of water yet no glasses. It was like a Tommy Cooper trick gone wrong and we looked around for a cardboard tube. Given that roast was the only item on the Sunday menu we were surprised we had to wait an hour to receive ours as the car park was three quarters empty when we arrived. Not an issue for me, but it really irritated others in the group. The food was very good and much as you would expect a roast dinner to be other than being priced in the mid £20s. Another long wait for a waitress to take payment which caused further irritation and several people to walk out. The waitress struggled with the concept that the whole bill for two full tables would not be picked up on one credit card and we had to keep telling her increased amounts to debit us so that the serving staff were not deprived of their tip. The overall experience meant there is no compelling reason to return although others in my group will be back for the food.

Went for lunch just before Christmas with family. We received a wonderful warm welcome. Service throughout was excellent. We ordered lots of 'small plates' - that were actually very generous. Halloumi, cod bites, salt and pepper squid, baked brie, etc. - all were delicious. We will definitely be going back sometime soon.

Really enjoyed the festive menu. Our party tried 5 mains that were all excellent, with the lovely staff accommodating a bespoke chicken burger. This was our first visit for about 6 months and it was great to see that that the high standards set have been maintained, especially on a busy Saturday night! We are very lucky to have such a great restaurant /pub nearby!

The sunday roasts here are very good. My prawn cocktail starter was also good, However, when we arrived the temperature was too chilly. One group was moved from the conservatory to the main building as it was even chillier in there. I asked one of the many waitresses about the heating and was told that it had just been turned on (c. 12noon) My Brakspears was on the old side as was my wifes' red wine. The service was chaotic. One girl came and took our drinks order. Then another arrived and asked if we'd placed our order. Then another arrived and said she would get us some menus so that we could order (!) Another waitress brought our starters and another brought our mains. To give them the dessert order my wife had to put up her hand and call for attention to get someone to notice us.. (The waitresses walk passed the tables looking straight ahead.) To get the bill we had to ask for attention again and another girl gave us the bill.( I have 30 years experience of being a Good Pub Guide reporter)

I popped in this evening with my children for a quick meal before an event at my daughters school, I explained we were pushed for time so they made sure they took our order straight away, the food was beautiful and the service as pleasure was first class. The staff are all so friendly and nothing is ever any trouble. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Booked two weeks in advance for Sunday roast 1230 sharp , lots of staff one appeared to be management she greeted us , have we booked yes ,they can't find the booking, I was asked if I had a booking reference, no I wasn't offered one , no problem,the person who assumes control then informs me she will do us a favour..... And try and find us a table....... CLASS you mess up but now add insult.... I informed them , don't worry about the favour and left drove to the chequers in Marlow got straight in PERFECT food staff environment regards.

Superb all round. Went here on a lunch whim. Chips are amazing, clearly home made a fried nice a crispy. Bettered fish was fantastic and made gluten free for me which was lovely. My wife’s burger and son’s pizza were outstanding. The service from the hostesses was exceptional. We will be returning very soon with the rest of the family.

Very friendly welcome from the owner and very good service throughout our visit. Nothing was too much trouble and right level of attentiveness. Pub is beautifully decorated and has a lovely ambience. Food was great too! Scampi and chips and halloumi avocado burger well presented and tasted great. Chips were more condensed crisps but tasty …. Have not been to the pub since the current owners have been there and very impressed with Chelsea and her team and look forward to returning.

A lovey welcome the min we walked in, customer service was amazing. The roast, was fantastic, probably one of the best I’ve ever had anywhere! And I don’t say that very often.

We’ve been coming here regularly -if you can get a slot. The meal takes a while to turn up buts it’s certainly worth it ! It’s the reference we now use against all the other pubs in the area. Without doubt the most flavourful Sunday roast either lamb or beef. Best Yorkshire’s that are filled with truffles mash and pulled beef. Stunning!

This is an amazing pub, the food was excellent. We were a table of 6 and all chose different main courses - each meal was of a vey high standard - indeed nothing was left. The service was impeccable, a number of staff served us or checked in on us and they were exceptionally polite, friendly and helpful. Setting is very good too. Will definitely return.

Visited for Sunday lunch with friends for the first time. Great venue, staff were lovely, friendly and very accommodating, put the rugby on for one of our friends. Service was great. Food was maybe one of the best roast dinners I have had out in a long time, normally nothing better than a home cooked roast, but this roast was fresh and delicious. Food, service and venue lovely, would highly recommend, having great service and friendly staff really enhances the experience and that they certainly did.

Best Sunday roast I have ever had…bar none. A must visit and we are lucky to have such a lovely place in Maidenhead. My only regret was I forgot to order a side of cauli cheese! This reminds me to get a booking for a xmas roast!
