The hotel is at a real advantage with spectacular views. We had been in for coffee or drinks many times and eaten here in the past over the years and had vowed to return for a lunch when it was not so busy. Anyway, on my birthday we thought we would take the opportunity. It was 2pm in the afternoon, not too busy. We ordered from the slightly confusing method of choosing a selection of options and asked for it to be bought to the table all in one go. We had also waited ages for someone to take a food order in the first place and had to attract the attention of a waiter. It felt like we were invisible that day. When the food finally arrived it turned up with only two of the four dishes we ordered so we waited and once again had to attract the attention of someone, we had to ask where the rest of the order was and he said that there had been a mistake in the kitchen and it would be remade and would we like to continue with the two dishes on the table to which i replied i would not as my idea of lunch is not to have every element in individual segements in different time zones. Meanwhile the two cold plates on the table in stead of being returned to the kitchen to be reheated remained and i had to ask for it all to be done again. The whole occasion was a disaster. It was as if they had completely forgotton about us, we had to continuously attract the attention of someone to get any service and if as i just read from one of the other reviews there is a service charge that just makes the whole experience even more annoying as had it been pointed out to us when we paid i would most certainly asked for the charge to be removed as in my opinion tips should be earned through good service, there is no incentive for staff to deliver that if they get their tips regardless. When we paid i also stated to the lady i was paying that we did not find everything satisfactory and she just said sorry , she would report it back . Really this is poor. We live in Cornwall and know Marizion and love it but would not wish to have lunch this way again.

Quite a snazzy venue overlooking St Michael’s Mount. Could either be a coastal path pitstop or somewhere to enjoy a quasi-fine dining experience. Contrary to its former incarnations, this version of the Godolphin is certainly not geared towards locals, but rather tourists and visitors with more peculiar tastes and fatter wallets. The idea behind the multiple restaurant seating areas is ambitious, but it ultimately turns out to be a logistical nightmare: tables end up being too close together, leaving little wiggle room in between diners, and not enough space on the tables to accommodate plates of food. The service is much ado about nothing: all superficial panache and pseudo-posh theatre with zero substance. Any rational diner would prefer to not be patronised inanely by the seasoned Front of House patter and just be left to their own devices. The waiters and runners, however, are fresh out of college and evidently doing their best in the circumstances. The food and drinks are indeed pricey, but I guess you’re paying for the generally agreeable ambience and world-class sea view. The menu selection is impressive, and the result is definitely an upgrade from the pubic beef sandwich a friend of mine had here a few years ago. The wine selection, meanwhile, is a satisfying array of evocative numbers fit to match the setting and scenery. In conclusion, I leave a photo example of a honied venison I ordered … just see what you think. It was a zesty nine quid hors d’oeuvre, but I can’t decide whether I’ve been conned or charmed or what.

Been here loads of times over many years. It is so nice to see new owners of a business with such a passion for customers. Don’t get me wrong not all customers are good which is a shame. But getting back to my review what a fabulous place it is. Staff so nice the owner super friendly and could not do enough for you. The food was tasty we had many items off the menu. Dogs welcome although I always think that’s should be dry dogs and paws on the floors….. good luck to the new team you definitely deserve it.

Fabulous spot, lovely staff, comfortable and warm. My only criticism is that it feels sometimes like I’m sitting in a dog kennel as there are so many dogs. Dogs are very welcome there which is great, however to allow dogs on the seats is to my mind unacceptable even if some owners do put them on a dog blanket/coat, also some owners allow their dogs to lounge across the walkways. My objection to this is that there are both adults and children who are allergic to dog hair and saliva, and for some this can cause asthma attacks as is the case for me. I would love to see owners keep their dogs under their own tables and the restaurant to have at least one of the dining areas that is dog free.

This was not somewhere I expected to end up when looking for a cafe, but to their credit they were actually open when almost everywhere else is closed for the Winter so that in itself gets my vote! The restaurant was reasonably busy but I was offered a choice of tables and given water the moment I sat down which was a nice touch. The menu is quite unusual and interesting and to my delight I was told that quite a few items could be made gluten free. The advice was to perhaps go for a couple of small plates and a side if I were hungry, but I opted for the olives and pickles with one small plate to see how it went. My choice of the crab brandy and Davidstow on toast was absolutely delicious and just enough for me on my own. It's a wonderful location with lovely staff and ambience. What's not to love.

What a fabulous location with amazing food. 3 of us came here for early dinner this week. We were lucky enough to catch the sun going down and the view of St Michael’s mount was just magical. The decor and layout is spacious, light, modern and luxurious. It’s really very dog friendly , not just dog tolerant. The menu is varied and whilst not cheap, definitely is value for money. Food comes out as and when dishes are ready due to the size of the tables we were told.. this actually was really well paced and it was exciting to see what was next to arrive. We ordered most of the options on the sea and meat sections along with some fries. Everything was cooked to perfection with great quality ingredients and cooked with skill and care. My favourite 3 dishes were the lamb on beans, mackerel and venison carpaccio…utterly outstanding. It was not cheap but great value for money considering what we had. Highly recommended and will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Lovely venue, excellent waiting service. I ordered watercress soup and fries. The fries were perfect - crispy and tasty. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the soup. It did taste of watercress. In fact that was all it tasted of. I had expected something creamy and full of flavour but this was not the case. It was awful. Before I placed the order I was told it would cost £6.75. When I went to pay, the bill was far more than I had expected so I queried it. I was told that the soup was £9. I said that I had been told that it was £6.75 and the staff member said 'my bad it is £9'. She then also told me that the bill included a tip. She had not mentioned this before. I asked for the tip to be removed.

We originally went to Shutters for a lunch earlier in February and unfortunately this was a poor experience and I reviewed this lunch on 9th February. The Godolphin Hotel offered us a free meal in recompense for this poor experience. I, my husband and daughter had Sunday lunch at Shutters on 25th February 2024. The lunch was a totally different and better experience. The staff were attentive and courteous and helped make the experience very good. We each had a starter and a roast beef main course followed by a British Cheese and Cornish Cheese course between us. We also had drinks: Espresso Martinis (recommended) and some glasses of pleasant wine. The starters (hot smoked salmon with citrus fruit, Potato with wild garlic, and bread with olives and balsamic dressing) were OK with the salmon very good. The main course was very large with two large, thick slices of beef on each plate and a good selection of vegetables, the gravy was also very good. A doggy bag was necessary for our dog who was at home! The cheese course was also very good. As a bonus the weather wasn’t too wet and we had a lovely table with great views towards St Michael’s Mount.

We visited for lunch and came away laughing at what we were served at the price point. There was a reduced menu on offer and the dishes were grouped as 'Small plates' and something like 'For The Table' but for the prices - between £5-10 per dish - we were expecting a certain quality or portion, neither of which was delivered. The only dish that was reasonable was the olives, which we deemed to be a decent portion and OK quality. Elsewhere, we were served 4 small croquettes (£8 and one had a hair in it!), a single small meat free Bao Bun (£10!), 8 small fried coated squid with 3 lettuce leaves and a dip (£10, the squid was overcooked and very chewy) and "baked bread" aka two slices of thick bread cut in two with butter (£6!). I wish I had taken a picture of the food because it was seriously unimpressive and certainly nothing like the images that have been uploaded to TripAdvisor by the restaurant. The bread came with a Marmite based butter or a Sea Salt Butter, we were wrongly brought the marmite butter and when we asked to change it to our original order we were brought a few scoops of a very light and poor quality margarine. We ate it all, besides the hair, as we were starving but we left still hungry. To finish the poor experience, we were brought the bill and it didn't include the advertised promotion, "25% Off Food All Day"; When we challenged this the waitress said "it's kind of a, you get it if you ask for it, situation", and yet it's advertised on their website, on entry and even on the back of the toilet doors! This felt a bit underhanded. We didn't complain at the table but it was seriously bad and they should be ashamed by what was served and what was charged, even with 25% off. (£47, £37 after the discount).

Went here for my partners big birthday on 7/1/24. Booked online and requested a window seat if possible. Arrived to be seated in a perfect position to take in the amazing view. Waiting staff very friendly and initial drinks came quickly, as did the food. Second round of drinks were slow to arrive and we had to ask a couple of times if they were coming or had been forgotten. This was a minor thing though as the food was amazing!! We had the sharing platter roast which contained beef, pork and chicken along with all the veg, stuffing and crackling and lashings of gravy. So much food… in hindsight we didn’t need a starter and we even brought the chicken home with us. Given them 5/5 in this review as they deserve it base on food, location & friendliness alone. They rectified the drinks issue which was good of them. It was a busy Sunday lunch for them after all. Will definitely be returning.

A few years back, I had eaten lunch at The Godolphin (not sure if it was actually Shutters) and had enjoyed nothing except the view. So, perhaps unjustly, I was a little prejudiced against the whole establishment. However, at 9:30 one morning we found ourselves...

We visited Shutters twice in our weeks holiday. The view and setting is perfect. Best view in Marazion. It’s not cheap but it is a splendid A la Carte menu. Great atmosphere too.

This was a most disappointing experience! My wife and I were lucky enough to have found the most perfect B & B in Marazion (Upper Deck). Having driven across to Cornwall from Kent we only wanted a decent but unfussy meal in the evening and...

We have just returned from our first visit and if time permitted, would come back before returning home. Our menu choices were crevettes, sole and truffles. All of these were very good and the sole especially was far larger than I expected. Prices were reasonable...
