We stumbled across this small tea room and decided to pop in for a spot of lunch. Overall the food and atmosphere was lovely, however the unpleasant and frankly rude customer service let it down. I went to the counter to place my order where I was met with a scowling gaze from the lady behind it, I ordered and proceeded to pick up a tray and pop it on said counter as to then place the relatively heavy pots of tea on it, however the lady then barked at me and demanded I put the tray on the runners, I obliged, unaware that this was a requirement, loaded my tray and walked back to my table. Furthermore, throughout this whole process not one please or thank you left the mouth of the lady behind the counter. Therefore we dutifully ate our food and left, never to return again.

Arrived on the most horrendous weather day. Tea room didn't open until 10am but after enquiring the owner invited us in out of the bad weather and to sit by the roaring fire. Bought us drinks over and took breakfast order, taking payment when tills worked at 10am. Very friendly staff, couldn't do enough to make a bad weather day pleasant.

‘Sticky gingerbread with Wenslydale Cheese’ @£3.50. What I received was a dried up piece of ginger cake and a slither of cheese that bore no resemblance to a lovely crumbly Wensleydale and no butter. An absolute rip off don’t buy it, it was so dry I struggled to swallow it even with my tea. The sole ladies toilet was blocked and disgusting. It was really busy but the staff appeared to be coping.

Really nice to stop for a cuppa or a bit more. We had brunch there on arrival for a day in the village. As always we enjoyed our break here. Good selection of light bites and hot and cold drinks in nice surroundings and pleasant service. We enjoyed paninis with salad and coleslaw. The Brie, cranberry and bacon was certainly nice. With hindsight I wish I’d also had one of the many delicious looking cakes. The gift shop is nice and useful for friends presents and a nice selection of fudge too.

We walked in here after a very disappointing visit to the Moors cafe shop! What a world of difference. This establishment was clean and hygienic with washroom facilities, Though we did not eat there the food we saw appeared to be well presented at a reasonable price and looked very appealing with Beautiful surroundings including an outside garden eating area with a very nice gift shop. We look forward to returning to sample the fare.

We were up visiting that way whilst on holiday and popped in for lunch, it was lovely. The tea room is spotless and had some lovely items for sale. We were a family of 8 and none of us were disappointed in what we had although i would say we found it a little overpriced having said that we went back again later in the week as we found it so nice. Most of the staff seemed very pleasant but the odd one or two seemed a bit off but again it didnt spoil our lunch

We called in at 1.30pm on Tuesday, after being on the steam train. The cafe was busy and we were told they'd be a 30/45 minute wait for 3 paninis and fruit for a child. As the garden area was extremely comfortable we stayed. Eventually after chasing our order an hour and a half later our food came, which although the side salad garnish was nice the panini was small and nothing to write home about. Our table number was 43 and the numbers went higher. There was only 3 toilets; 1 ladies, 1 men's and 1 disabled. This tearoom is poorly set up and staffed for such a large venue. It's a shame as the garden indoor seating and shop were nice. Due to length in there we had no time to explore the village before having to catch a train home.

We have been catching the steam train from Pickering or coastliner bus to Goathland to visit your tea rooms and given you a glowing account of our visits. Today however I went to the counter to order a pannini and a soup and tuna mayonnaise sandwich. I ordered a pot of tea for one as my husband and I don’t drink a lot of tea or coffee anymore. I drink hot water at home. The lady serving said you have to order tea for two. I tried to explain my position and she grabbed one cup and saucer back over the counter and said you can only have one cup no saucer and one cup and saucer but I am charging you 50 for the use of the cup. I don’t mind that so much but when getting back to our table there was hardly any hot water in the hot water pot. When our food arrived it was lovely as always and I asked the waiter if he could fill the hot water jug up, which he kindly did or I wouldn’t have been able to have a drink. We come all year round to your premises and also bring friends and recommend you when asked where is the best place. We always look around the gift shop and make a purchase but afraid I don’t feel like visiting anymore. You can see from my profile I live in Pickering.

Always the best place for something to eat in goathland, and to be honest best jacket spuds we have had from many places. We always come once if not twice everytime we have a week holiday at Whitby. The portion's are huge and very good value for money, we always sit in the gardens which has a beautiful pond, many birds and a feild of sheep next door. Wouldn't recommend anywhere else for something to eat in goathland. I brought a church mouse from the goathland church so obviously he came for a bite to eat with us too.

My wife & I walk the Rail Trail from Grosmont to Goathland & back. Whilst in Goathland we always visit Goathland Tearooms for a coffee/tea. We always receive a friendly welcome from the staff & the customer service skills are excellent. Both the tea & coffee are always very good. Although on this occasion we didn't have any cakes they have always been fresh, tasty & good value when we have. The Tearooms are always clean including the toilets. We would recommend this cafe if you are in Goathland.

A lovely tearoom/gift shop which also accommodates our 4 legged furry friends. We were shown into the doggy side of the tearoom which was wonderfully spacious and while we were in there, there was about 4 other dogs, of all sizes and yet we only came into contact with one. Gives you an idea of the size. There is also undercover seating outside. Water and treats were available for our pouch too. The service and food for ourselves wasn't to be sniffed at either. We both had a jacket spud, followed by cake and it was all very well cooked and full of flavour and our plates were full. The menu was of a great variety and it took us a while to decide on what to have. The staff were lovely, the eating area clean and great gifts scattered about within the eating area as well as the gift shop. Should we visit the area again, we will definitely eat there again.

We were driving around the moors as it was my husband's birthday. Unfortunately our lunch in Goathland was expensive and disappointing so we walked through the village for solace and spotted the tea room. Gorgeous place to come to and is always on our list as a ' must go to'when we are in Filey. Beautiful setting and everything here is really delicious. The lemon meringue tart and coffee cake are to die for. It's lovely sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine. Sadly it was raining today and as we have a dog we couldn't go in, there was some seating under a canopy for the ice creams but sadly for us just a bit too chilly to sit out. It is cash only so that is something to always remember when visiting.

Great cakes and bread to eat in or take away. Dogs are allowed inside. We had a good lunch. It was very busy, because the food is very good.

This pub/restaurant is under new ownership but the food and the drinks are still of exceptional quality. We visited at lunchtime (midweek), we had reserved our table in advance (this is advisable) and we were met with a very warm welcome. The menu has changed but still offers a good selection. The quality of the food was very good and the presentation appealing. Always a must when we visit this area. Good luck going forward, this place remains a firm favourite with us

Amazing evening seafood meal. Fabulous service from Johan and wonderful little tasters including a really tasty broccoli soup appetiser. Cannot recommend the food and service enough. Tx
