Despite receiving confirmation and a reminder of our booking, the staff were not aware and there was no reserved table for our party of 6. After some discussion we were offered a table upstairs although would have to vacate it by 9. There was no ale as advertised.and the artisan pizzas are bought in and served lukewarm. One was still lukewarm after sending it back because it was cold. I don’t usually air poor service in public, however have tried to ring to complain twice and had no response to an email sent

I booked a table for my birthday. We had our toddler with us and my parents too. We sat upstairs in a spacious booth and a highchair was up there ready, and it was clean. The number of times I’ve been places recently and the high chairs are dirty or dusty. Two of us had the pork and the other two the beef brisket. We had a couple of portions of panko chicken for starters too. All the food was delicious, a bit too much meat for us as we weren’t able to eat all the veg and Yorkshire puddings etc. Nobody ordered a dessert as they were too full, I was surprised with a birthday brownie complete with birthday candle, such a thoughtful touch! We would definitely recommend the pub, drinks and roasts. They’ve got some interesting gins to try that I’ve never heard of, and I’m told the ale is perfect.

We were met by a very abrupt waitress who made us sit on a table for two, which had other occupied tables located very close to either side of us. There were several other empty tables where we could have sat without invading the existing customers privacy. We did not feel any of the staff were particularly friendly, the food was very over priced, and we took a very dim view of the waitress opening the front door and allowing the cold air into the restaurant on what was a very cold wet day outside. This made most customers feel very uncomfortable. We felt it was like they were saying, “we have had your money, so the quicker you leave now the better”. One customer got up and closed the door, and the waitress immediately went up to the front of the shop and opened the window. For how rudely we were treated, it’s a wonder they had any customers at all. We will not be going back !
