We had a great dinner and the service provided by our waitress Eden gave us an excellent evening. Would absolutely recommend for a lovely atmosphere, great food and drink! :)

The food was incredible and such a good selection of vegan dishes, we didn’t struggle for choice at all. Fresh flavours and great variety of types of food, we had curries, rice, chickpeas, all sorts! Cocktails were also so tasty. Service was great too, can’t thank them enough. We are already looking forward to coming back :)

Absolutely amazing. We went at midday for bottomless brunch so obviously the atmosphere wasn't vibrant but the food and staff were amazing. Already planning our next visit!

It’s long overdue that I write a review…I’ve never actually dined in but I get takeaway all the time. Some of the best food I’ve had in Bristol. I had never tried Sri Lankan before moving here from the USA & it has become one of my favorite cuisines now. I’m also veggie and the amount of options for me are incredible. I’ve never had a bad meal! The vegan Kotthu is my favorite. Thanks for all the lovely meals. 🥥🌴❤️🥳

Too loud and the taste’s like just average for me and the sides’ portions was super small, like 2 bites for 4£ , not acceptable for me

Gopi served us and was amazing! Best food ever

My partner and I went here for a meal with my family to celebrate getting engaged. When my mum mentioned this to the waiter they very kindly brought us a round of drinks on the house. The food was lovely, the cocktails were lovely and we had a really good time. The staff were so nice. I would recommend trying the pork dish and their version of a Negroni. While we don't live in Bristol we will definitely be coming back next time we are in the city.

We had our work Xmas party here last weekend and I can honestly say this was the the worst service I've ever experienced. Its was slow from the start, when we ordered drinks during the meal they took over 30 minutes to arrive, after 20 minutes when we were all eating our curry's I asked where they were and pointed out all 14 of us had empty glasses, even after that it was still another 10 minutes and no apology or acknowledgment. When the shriki-tiki cocktail came out it requires cinimon shaken on top of a flame and the lid came off pouring out cinnamon all over our table, again no apology and they didn't even clean the table after. Our empty plates were left on the table for over an hour after we finished. The only positive I will say is the food was very nice.

Food was great, got a table without a booking on a Friday evening and was made to feel so welcome. Eden was a delight with the fancy flaming drinks and big plus letting us do the colouring in. Think you should give her a raise.

This was our first visit to the Gloucester Road Coconut tree. And I would imagine it would not be our last. We had been recommended to visit the coconut tree by friends and family who would visited the branch in Clifton. Parking was a little bit tricky, but it always is where there’s a bunch of restaurants and bars. We went on a Sunday night and it was fairly quiet. We were served straight away by a lovely chap called Gopi. We started with some lovely cocktails which Gopi took great pleasure in presenting to us and carrying out his trademark flaming sugar trick. I’m fairly confident the coconut tree do not believe in drink mixers and just decide to give you a cocktail made of pure alcohol. This is not a complaint. This is a recommendation. We ordered some mains and some sites. My partner had the fat sister which was a pumpkin in a delicious sauce. With a side of Basmati rice and I had the roast chicken kotthu. All the food was bought out piping hot and absolutely delicious. We had a good laugh with Gopi regarding our second round of drinks as one was to be alcoholic and one was not but they were both for the same drink, easily could’ve got confused. All in all five stars for the Gloucester Road Coconut tree.

Wow, such beautiful food. As a strict vegetarian, I usually get the compromised end of the menu. Not here. What flavours! I can recommend the fat sister, the spicy potatoes and the chick peas. We ordered two dishes each (plus a side dish), which was plenty. I can also recommend the mojito I had. My only grumble was that the music was REALLY LOUD. Having come out for someone's birthday, it was a shame as it made conversation difficult. Other than that, it was all fantastic.

If you like spicy food and the taste of coconut, this is a culinary experience not to be missed. Take 2 or 3 dishes per person with one side (I especially recommend the roti) and share, this way you get to taste much more than in an average restaurant. Most dishes are spicy bordering on hot, even if not marked with a devil head on the menu, but you can have plenty of sweet cocktails or mocktails to wash it down. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is lively, the food is delicious - all in all, a great night out.

Overall a nice restaurant proposing a wide selection of sri lankan dishes, which is very interesting. Great place to discover new flavours! I would definitely recommend the Fat sister (pumpkin curry) and the pickled aubergines, I am however not so fond of the Colombo cheese: I really like paneer but this one is not particularly nice tasting and it is a bit dry.

I had an amazing experience at Skrilankan Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious—full of flavour and perfectly spiced. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. Our server, Lola, was fantastic! She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Her service really elevated our dining experience. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back. Five stars all the way!

I’ve wanted to visit this places for ages. Finally got there a couple of weeks ago and happy to say I enjoyed it. Lovely warm welcoming vibe/decor. I hadn’t realised in advance that they only do small plates but it turned out to be a good thing as we all got to try more dishes than we would if we’d just ordered our own mains The menu choices were a little overwhelming because everything sounds good! In the end we ordered the goat curry, the chicken curry, calamari, sticky rice, chicken wings and roti. We were 3 people and it was enough. We also tried a few cocktails and they were good too. Shout out to Eden, our friendly waitress who patiently answered our questions. I’d definitely go here again.

The interior is looks so carefully thought out. I feel like im somewhere in somewhere tropical as opposed to being in Gloucester Road, Bristol. Food is so much tastier here than their branch in Clifton. (The one in Clifton dont taste as good.) A top favourite for me is the crispy squid...it is packed with so much flavour and remains crispy throughout the whole meal and doesnt go soggy - this is highly recommended!

Honesty the most amazing experience! The food was delicious. The staff were amazing! Especially Lola! What a sweetheart! Some how ended up with an extra cocktail and calamari. The most amazing, lovely people. 3rd time here - highly recommend

I had a great dining experience at Coconut Tree Bristol. The food was delicious and authentic, with a perfect balance of spices. The prawn fried rice and kotthu were my favorites. Kaju maluwa was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, making great recommendations. Shehan provided outstanding customer service, ensuring we felt welcome and well-cared for throughout our meal. The restaurant's decor was vibrant and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. We enjoyed our meal with family and had a wonderful time. We highly recommend Coconut Tree. for anyone wanting to enjoy true Sri Lankan flavors in the UK. We would love to see a new restaurant open in the Norwich area as well!

Had a wonderful lunch today, my waiter- Pasindo- was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. I went for the option of having them pick out an assortment of dishes for me- and each of them was absolutely delicious. A nice balanced heat and extremely flavorful. Would be great to go here with a group, but even as a solo dinner, it was very affordable and manageable. I highly recommend The Coconut Tree. Thanks for a great meal 🙏

A tapas-styled, relaxed eatery with high quality, very flavoursome food with the right mix of spice and kick even for those who don’t like chilli. Not your usual dishes but delightful nonetheless and definitely recommended for any foodie. Amazing unique cocktails, wonderfully pleasant service and an all round must go destination when eating out at Bristol!

Had the best time tonight in Gloucester Road's The Coconut Tree: we were given a warm, friendly welcome and the menu was explained. I had parippu (dahl), sticky rice, 5C's sambol (shredded carrot, cucumber,chili, coconut and coriander flavoured with half a lime) and brinjal moju pickled aubergine) This was definitely one of the best meals I've ever had out. The perfect combination: a comforting creamy coconuty dahl with sticky rice, fresh zesty, tangy, sambol and the gorgeously hot pickled aubergine was the cat's whiskers! Fantastic! Oh and I had the divine panna cotta -Sri Lankan style! The atmosphere was great, loved the music, definitely coming back to try a hopper!

Fab lunch on a sunny Saturday. The team could not be more friendly & helpful if they tried, offering food & drink advice when sought as well as not rushing us after 4.5 hours of nattering over extra drinks. Our bill for two was just over £80 for two meat mains with rice and 3 rounds of cocktails - would definitely recommend the Negroni. Looking forward to visiting their Birmingham venue.

On May 18th, 2024, I placed an order for three Chicken Kottu, and I must say, it was extremely disappointing compared to my previous order a month ago. The quality, taste, and portion size have all significantly declined, while the price has increased. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Enjoyed our recent trip to The Coconut Tree. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and since we booked through the First Table app it was 50% off so we tried a copious amount of it. Can recommend the egg hopper, the goat curry and the chicken wings. Also the sticky rice is worth a little dabble. Would go again 👍

We went for the 'Can't Decide' option on the menu with a vegan requirement, letting our server Kyziah choose some plates for us. All of the choices and food were delicious, the cocktails were great, and we left happy and full :) Kyziah and the rest of the staff were incredible kind and generous to us, making the experience even better!

Very expensive for portions given. Nice food but ordered a large plate and came in a small box. Would need two large plates to feel full.

Every dish enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere, good and timely service.

Had planned to go to Nandos before an evening out in Bristol but they were busy - ended up finding the Coconut Tree and what a treat we had. Not knowing much about Indonesian food we let the (excellent) waitress surprise us and we're presented with a tapas type meal full of variety and absolutely wonderful. We didn't have a lot of time as we had other plans but would certainly recommend making an evening of it. Saturday early evening was already very busy so definitely book.

Really great food! Genuinely some of the best food we’ve had in Bristol, flavours were incredible. The extra star was lost for service as unfortunately it was really poor! It might’ve just been an off night but there seemed to be 5 floor staff so a lot of staff for the size of the place. Had to flag someone down 20 mins in to order drinks, food came out before drinks, no one checked on us during, someone cleared half our plates a while after we finished but forgot about the 2nd half and not asked about desserts or 2nd drinks (we would’ve ordered if we had a chance). Just feel this isn’t the way it was intended to be, really great food was let down. So easy to correct!! Staff were all nice and friendly!

Stumbled upon the restaurant while searching for Vietnamese and were so glad that we never found the place we were looking for! Fantastic flavours, great portion sizes, excellent service! Highly highly recommend.

I enjoyed my visit to The coconut tree. The Food was great and I can't fault the service. I didn't appreciate a 10% tip being added to the bill. An additional £13.50 to bring the food to the table is excessive. I appreciate the money maybe going to the servers to boost their minimum wage but it shouldn't be up to the customer to pay staff wages.
