We ordered a devon pasty and a vegetable pasty. Both were inedible. Luke warm to cold. Microwaved so soft. Fillings were horrible. Staff didn't bother to check if meal was OK. We left the food and walked out. Avoid this place. I don't review often and usually only if very good, but this was bad enough to warn others

We were in the area and had heard good things so decided to stop and try it. It looked quite busy which was a positive sign, although we were to learn this was due to the wait not the quality! The menu looked good. We ordered and were told they only do their eggs one way, which isn’t ideal but I could understand as the kitchen wasn’t huge and I figured they’d want to keep it simple. I was hoping this meant they were low choice, high quality. We waited an hour for our drinks and food, my order of a pastry came last and the staff had to be prompted to get it. During our wait there was an issue on the table next to us, in order to check the order the chef decided to shout across to the table to check their order and proceeded to tell them they’d received what they ordered. The customer had to point out there was no price on the menu, or receipt provided so how could they have checked the order was input correctly? At this point if we hadn’t of ordered and already been waiting a while we’d have walked. When our order began to arrive the bacon was over cooked and had an usual smell to it, the sausage seemed cheap and greasy but the bread was nice. The croissant when it arrived wasn’t warmed, the thing that came last could’ve been served immediately. Although my drink was hot, the other two served were not. The bottled fruit juices weren’t served with a glass or offer of one. If it weren’t for the wait and the apparent attitude of the chef we would’ve raised it at the time. On our way out others leaving could be heard commenting on their own similar experiences. Overall: avoid, avoid avoid. I rarely write reviews but this absolutely called for it. No one else should waste their time and money here.

Food had been recommended. We chose bubble and squeak with a cheese topping and either bacon or fried egg. We chose one of each. What arrived were two jacket potatoes shells on each plate. The insides had been taken out, roughly mashed (still very lumpy) and some pieces of overcooked cabbage added in. The cheese topping had probably started life as a plastic “cheese” slice. The cabbage tasted gross, the potato was barely lukewarm and tasteless - not a hint of butter or seasoning. To be fair, the eggs and the bacon were fine but the overall effect was somewhere between absolutely disgusting and totally inedible. We took the view that, if they were prepared to serve such stuff to an unsuspecting public, there was no point in complaining. Surroundings weren’t that inspiring either. In our view, to be avoided like the plague.

This place was recommended to us and we arrived with great expectations. We ordered a full English breakfast each. The bacon was solid, eggs wet very runny but the sausages looked nicely browned. When we cut into the sausages they were raw in the middle. Only positive point was that the coffee was ok. My wife returned her half empty plate to the serving counter and complained. She was casually informed that her comments would be passed on to the chef.

A Cracking half a full English was enough for me and I like a big breakfast. Honestly the best I've had this year. Home made bread real butter lovely tea and coffee at a great value. Staff are really friendly with a quick service, the whole place is very clean. Don't be put off by thinking it will be hot in a green house, it's all well vented. Car park and a top class garden centre which also has helpful and friendly staff. I would highly recommend this venue.

With all the hustle and bustle in nearby Dartmouth, plus the parking problems, its just good to come to the Glasshouse for a relaxing morning coffee or excellent lunch. Plus somewhere to park. Good selection on the menu, particularly loved the soup when we visited which was butternut. Friendly helpful staff. What's not to like, plus a garden centre to stroll through and a small shop for something different. Lucky to be a local so can visit any time.

We went here for breakfast on my daughter's return from holiday and we were not disappointed. We both had a full English and could not fault it at all. All freshly cooked and piping hot with local made produce and sauces. This is the best breakfast we have had in and around Dartmouth for a long time and will definitely be returning. Also their homemade cakes looked so divine we took a slice each of the coffee cake home to have with afternoon tea and also a freshly baked granary bloomer! Five stars to the chef and his staff! Spot on!

We have only had a cup of coffee here before this last recent disastrous visit .The waiting/serving staff are abrupt and unfriendly at best . The food when it finally arrived at our table was microwaved , reheated food , some stone cold in places .This type of food is overpriced and belongs in a Supermarket Cafe, at Supermarket prices . We will not be spending our money here again !

Me decepcionó.

If you are ever in the region of Dartmouth and are in need of great coffee and excellent fresh food, just call into the Glasshouse Cafe situated within the Gardentime Garden Centre on the A3122 at Blackawton. We had been on the road for more than 5 hours and were in need of a stop and refreshment when we stumbled on this gem.Run by a Kiwi lass, Andrea, who does actually cook the food on site and which is both fresh and flavoursome. Try her fantastic sausage rolls, Cornish pasties, scones, cakes, muffins or even a cooked meal, especially her breakfasts. She also does a mean double shot flat white. Best coffee I tasted in two weeks!Staff were both pleasant and helpful. We did go back a number of times whilst in the area. Never disappointed us. There is even a butcher on site and his meat was excellent as well. As were the jams and chutneys. We have been told that the restaurant is now open on Thursday evenings as well. Reservations are recommended. Pity we did not have time to go back and enjoy. But the sample menu we have sighted is excellent and real value for money!

Great late lunch with family, biggest haddock I have ever seen. Had that locally caught ling, calamri and my wife just cheesy chips. All with crispy fresh batter, chips golden but soft inside. Even cheesy chips were top, 1/2 chips, then cheese, more chips and topping of more cheese. All top quality, even the ice cream and with nice pints of Otter, bitter & ale on tap. Great way to end off long walk on the beach. You won’t be disappointed..

I loved this pub. We walked from Salcombe and it was well worth it (don't worry, you can drive there too). It had the feel of a genuine pub with some good beers that happened to do great food also. I had possibly the best burger I have had in a long time and my wife had a fantastic steak sandwich. Both were freshly prepared scratch. They have vegan options too. I notice some negative reviews, mostly due to poor service. We arrived at 12 noon on a weekday in October. Even so, the place was full by the time we left, so it is clearly a popular place. The service we experienced was without fault. I hope our experience is the norm.

We stayed 3 nights, Fri Sat & Sun, very comfortable well furnished room, ensuite, with breakfast (diy) available in little kitchen down the hall. Wonderful old world inn, great bar, and bar food til 8.30 (lunchtime til 5 on Sunday, no evening meal). Very friendly and helpful staff, and wonderful location in the wilds of Dartmoor.

The restaurant was quite Busy, we were served the staff are lovely, table was clean food is good. This review has nothing to do with that. Getting to the Toilets as a disabled person in a wheelchair is an nightmare, the path is very steep going down then you have to try and open the door or wait for someone to help. Then it's getting in through the door while trying to keep it open if you don't have anyone around to help you . Then you come to the disabled toilet and you have the same problem getting in and out is hard. I have spoken to the manager on duty today and he said he will bring it up at the next meeting with his manager all I can say is I hope so, it's a lovely garden centre but if you are disabled I wouldn't recommend coming to this garden centre unless you can hold your Toiletting needs for the Duration of your visit. The manager has said he's had people complain about the path a lot, but not getting into and out of the toilets, I myself am guiltily of not saying anything before because I'm embarrassed, but today I decided to say something and I'm glad I did. The staff are all lovely nothing is to much trouble, if you are able body it's a fantastic place to visit, and I will miss going. But going down that path today was quite frightening and before anyone Says anything my chair was on the Slowest speed any slower. And I wouldn't have been able to move but I was frightened and thinking. And I was gonna hit the back wall. I really hope this review helps people and the managers Does something .
