Giggling Squid Windsor in Windsor and Maidenhead

The wait time from ordering to service was over 1hr and portions small. I didn’t like the atmosphere either, didn’t feel warm and welcoming like other giggling squid restaurants, that I have eaten in. I wouldn’t visit again

Amazing food. We hadn't booked a table, but they were able to accommodate us. We were 7 diners. Food was delicious and the service good, even as they were busy with customers and deliveries.

Absolutely loved this place, lovely atmosphere, fantastic food and staff who genuinely want to make the experience a great one. Will definitely return.....

The lychee martini was really good - I recommend for those who like the fruit.

If i could give more than 5 stars, I would. The service was 2nd to none . I had my 60th here with a few friends (12 of us altogether).The staff were so friendly and even brought a me cake and sang happy birthday. The food was delicious, the atmosphere brilliant and even decorated my table for me that i brought in the day before. Thank you so much, you did an amazing job 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

My advice is to order the chilli giggling squid which is very good. Everything else was a bit mushy and tasteless. Not very Thai. No Tom Yum for example.

The team member that took my call when I requested an adjustment to the order due to an allergy they simply said they couldn’t do it and that I should call the delivery service. Ultimately, they just cancelled the order through the delivery service without any explanation. What a terrible and inconsiderate experience.

My boyfriend and I have been to the Salisbury branch which was much nicer than the Windsor one. The food was incredible but service was slow and lack of character. We didn’t pay the service charge.

After being sat down we were apologised to by the member of staff who told us that on a normal Monday the restaurant sees around 30 orders but that on this Monday they had already had over 100! With this in mind then the warmth, friendliness and standard of service offered as well as the exceptional level of food we experienced says a lot about the team at Giggling Squid in a very positive manner. My partner said her Pad Tai was delicious and full of flavour and the Golden Money Bags, Royal River Curry and Tres Leches I had were nothing short of a culinary joy. Our cocktails were wonderful and prepared to an excellent standard too. For service and standard of food Giggling Squid shone and represented outstanding value for money.

Giggling squid used to be a top Thai place for me. Really nicely made Thai food with great service. Since they’ve open so many locations all that has dropped in quality. I still go but not as often. It’s so hard to find a good quality Thai restaurant anywhere in the uk as sadly GS has also become mediocre after an exciting start a few years ago.

We have been to quite a few different locations of the Giggling Squid. The Windsor Giggling Squid is very good. All the food was great. We had spring rolls, salt and pepper mushrooms, green curry, masaman curry etc.. Everything was cooked to a high standard. The only reason why it lost a star is they weren't the most happy or welcoming when we arrived. Don't get me wrong they aren't bad but a little more effort in service goes a long way. This point wouldn't put me off in visiting again. We would recommend.

We sat outside since it was a warm day, there was only 2 servers but they brought the food and drinks out promptly and was so warm and kind. The pork belly I got was absolutely delicious! Great staff, great ambience.

The food was wonderful - both the starters and the main courses. The only thing to add was that it was freezing cold in there when we arrived, so we (and another group) had to ask for the air conditioning to be calmed down! But that wouldn't put me off going back because the food and service were so excellent.

Second ever visit. Fab food. Had to wait a bit for the food, hence the 4 stars for service. But I'd recommend.

Good quality and consistent. It's a shame they serve halal meat, their menu has so much pork on it I can't imagine anyone asks for it, but prevents others enjoying chicken.

The chicken panaeng, both menu items with soft shell crab, ton yum fried rice, all were absolutely delicious. Great friendly service. Would definitely call this a hidden gem.

Directly opposite Windsor Castle in Windsor. Came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by their attention to dietary requirements. Our gluten free options were brought to the table separately and clearly marked (see pic). Also we were able to sit outside with our dog which was a plus. It’s a few outside tables just in front of the door and on the sidewalk -but comfortable and covered with an awning to protect from the rain. Outside Table was wobbly but our hostess immediately fixed it. They have plenty of options for a set menu or a la carte. You can also order a few small portions -tapas style. Our sever was attentive and took our order in good time did not keep us waiting, also checked on us during the meal and after. The food tasted fresh and was tasty. Plenty of Cocktails and non-alcoholic drink options. Pricing was good for the quality of the meal. Clean toilets were a plus. Overall great meal and service experience . Will be back!

Had a good meal here. Starters and mains all tasty and service was good. Did ask for still water but this never arrived. Restaurant was busy with young noisy children and babies crying which does always spoil things but no fault of the restaurant.

One of my favourite restaurants to go to I tell all my friends and family to come to this particular giggling squid. The food is lovely and my husband and I were welcomed by the team Courtney and summer plus the male Thai guy are so friendly and knowledgable of the food and drinks

Collection order at the Windsor branch - food wasn’t available at the allotted collection time - 20 mins late, which if anyone knows Windsor is frustrating due to their being no free parking available - the waitress unapologetically said it was unavoidable nothing offered as a gesture of goodwill either.

Order a Pad Thai, what I got was a dog’s dinner! Chow mein egg noodles, saturated in a suspicious dark brown and overpowering sweet sauce. About authentically Thai as a London double decker bus. Will not be returning to a Giggling Squid again, you are better off going to Wagamama.

Although a pleasant enough family environment with friendly staff, the food is desperately uninspiring with none of the fresh spice and zesty flavour you might expect. I had a slow cooked pork dish which was just brown sludge with sliced peppers and roti completely soaked in the gravy. The green chicken curries my kids had were really bland - even by their standards, both involving the game ‘hunt the chicken in the sauce.’ It was pretty expensive and the staff tried to hurry us off our table before we’d finished our drinks, so we won’t recommend or return.

Highly recommend trying here as the food, staff and atmosphere were all amazing. Had the lunch tapas which great value and you get a selection of starters, sides and main all in one. The curry flavours and tastes were fabulous. Love this place

Late night and near a large crowd. Staff would get higher marks, but we're a little overwhelmed, and I had to chase them a number of times to get attention. The food, however, was excellent.

We had friends visiting from abroad and a Windsor local recommended this restaurant to us. We arrived and it looks amazing inside however that’s the only positive. Long wait to request drinks, they then took 20 minutes to arrive. No one came to take our order even though plenty of staff and not that busy. The food was really disappointing- a couple of dishes were ok but many were not. No check back and offer of further drinks. Awful experience. When we told our friend of our experience they told us there last visit there was also awful. They recommended we try Thai Square next time which is next door, independently run and authentic so we will be going there in future.

The service was shocking (non existent) with the female waitresses chatting in the back area. Had to get up to find them every time we wanted something. They got our drinks order wrong which took half an hour to sort out, there were 6 of us but still… our sparking water never materialised but they charged us for it. Some of the starters were fine but others were truly awful and not up to the standard of this chain restaurant. We noticed other guests having to get up to find staff every time they needed something also. We actually left without having mains and dessert and went to Thai Square next door for further drinks and some decent food which was much nicer and perhaps an independent restaurant as it was authentic and the service was outstanding and genuine. It looked closed from the outside but if you go around the corner to the other door it’s open. Thai square had some very reasonable set menus available which we didn’t try as we’d had starters already but I would recommend to go to Thai Square and avoid Giggling Squid as it was truly awful.

On arrival there was no one in the restaurant, no staff to be found. When finally speaking to a waitress she was extremely rude and said she was the only one there.

Giggling squid at Windsor is a nice place for a decent Thai food. I really liked the Harmony tea that they make and the options for the lunch. The menu has a wide variety of selection and you get a great deal if you select the set meal. The starters are good and the fried vegetables are crispy and fresh. The Thai green curry has a lot of veggies in it and it’s a bit thick compared to other Thai curries I have had at other places. At Windsor the ambience is lovely, spacious and good decor. If you are in Windsor - this could be one place on your list to visit and enjoy the meal.

The food was excellent particularly the Seafood basket with papaya salad and Nico the waiter very friendly. Highly recommend!

Great food, and the staff was real thoughtful on handling my allergics to prawns

We visited here last night for a birthday meal and had the most perfect evening. Daniel our waiter was so attentive, and made a special fuss because it was my partner's birthday. They sat us in a beautiful window seat and even bought a free dessert with happy birthday written on the plate! The food is so authentically Thai, the sauces for the curries are incredible. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Reasonably priced with lovely staff and delicious food. Beautiful setting too, a must visit!

A small, warm restaurant, well decorated, with a cozy atmosphere. We had a starter and a main course which we shared between two people, the proportions were sufficient and we enjoyed ourselves! The staff were very pleasant and helpful, I would happily return to this restaurant.

Menu options good although the lamb dishes were all out of stock. On the table we ordered a variety of dishes all delicious . Service was good. Note service charge is already added to your bill but they don’t point this out and you are still asked if you want to leave a tip on the n my aching when you pay.

The starter sharer was good but the mains were disappointing we have eaten better in local Thai restaurants. Didn't like having to pour drinks out of a can. The atmosphere was busy and the service was slow. The overall feel was that of an independent rather than a well run chain as the staff seemed quite hectic and inattentive. Had the house white wine which was nice. Decorative seat was quirky but not very comfortable. It was ok just not great as has been described by others.

We ordered green curry with prawns, Thai bites and garlic hake. The Thai bites were average (to tell the least) we hardly touched them. When the waitress asked if they were good, we said they were not but it was still included in the bill. The hake wasn’t good either. Thank god curry was okay but it would be outrageous not to have a decent curry in a Thai restaurant. The hostess at the entrance is very pleasant. The service is very slow. We’re here only for two days so it was a pity to have such a disappointing meal for 70 pounds. Won’t recommend.

A few days ago, my friends an I celebrated my birthday at the Windsor branch. We were a group of 10 people, and we were pleased to see the table already set up for us on arrival. Our waitress, Nammi, was very welcoming and made us feel comfortable. She was quite knowledgeable about the menu and helped us make our choices. Even though we were a large group, Nammi was very accommodating and remained professional throughout. The food was delicious and well-prepared. We were allowed to bring our own cake, and Nammi helped us celebrate by offering her assistance. Our lovely waitress also made it easier for us to pay our bill, which we split 10 ways. Overall, it was a great experience thanks to Nammi's excellent service.

My last visit I found the food over salted. But the dishes which were not were really lovely. The comfort and layout is lovely.

The decor in here is so adorable! It was super quiet when we went. I ordered the Chilli & Basil Gra Pao with chicken and with the coconut rice. It was very tasty, could have had some more basil in there. The flavours were great though - the onions the peppers. Chicken was delicious. For a drink I got the coconut pineapple and banana smoothie. It was okay but could only really taste the banana. Some of the mini deserts were unavailable which was a shame and so we left without getting anything else.

Sadly disappointing. The food and experience would have been so much better if it was not for the protein penny pinching. I received my order of large prawn pad Thai costing £17. It had 3 fully shelled over cooked prawns which were tasteless and over cooked tofu.The children had chicken noodles which also lacked chicken and had over cooked tofu costing £8 per portion. Overall there was no value for money and a feeling of being ripped off. The staff were helpful and attentive. Shame it could have been such a good experience for all.

The person who served us was sadly not very smiley or engaged with us. The starter was good (I forget what we had), but the mains for all of us were mediocre at best. We even had to send one back as soooo sweet...We were offered to order something else... but then they charged us for all! I've spent many, many holidays in Thailand, having lived in Singapore for over 10 years, and the food here was sadly poor by comparison, even when allowing for adjustment in taste for the UK market. Shame, really. Neither the squid nor us were giggling by the end 😥

Great meal, the food was delicious and the service impeccable. This is the 3rd giggling squid I've been to and none of them have disappointed. Looking forward to the next visit

on the 16th of December I went to a Christmas work party here. Unfortunately so many things went wrong. we pre ordered food and requested no nuts for myself and my partners food as he has a severe nut allergy. When our order was taken and the pre ordered meals were checked, I triple checked the waitress to confirm our food was no nuts, which I also personally checked myself. However, when my main arrived, despite a flag clearly saying "no nut" on our food it Was riddled with cashew nuts underneath. When I complained, I received a new meal (which I never finished) but when I addressed this near fatal mistake with who I can assume was the manager, she offered me a free drink and told me off for ordering food which was dressed with nuts. I made it clear I did pre order and triple checked the food but she seemed less than sympathetic. The dish was sprinkled with nuts at the end, there was no sauce with nuts etc but none the less her response was insulting and lacked genuine concern for what could have been fatal for my partner as often try each others food. Another person at our table also received pink pork meat in their main and ended up refusing their food altogether. The same manager made 10x more fuss over this issue, offering new food and removing the meal off their bill. At the end, although they apologised, taking off a glass of wine as an apology was more than insulting and despite all of this they still added a £50.00 service charge on our bill which we refused to pay. Although some staff were nice and helpful during what seemed to be a busy service, the mistake of putting nuts in food for someone with a nut allergy is outrageous. I would not eat here again and would not recommend this place again, especially if you have a nut allergy that could be fatal. Thank god my partner was okay and had their epipen.

Ordered noodles and Thai green curry. Soooo spicy burnt my tongue. The waitress didn’t ask what spice level we wanted. Food not balanced at all. Not coming back. Too expensive. My non alcoholic cocktail was too sweet and not balanced.

Visited for a birthday lunch. Really helpful staff with good knowledge of dietary requirements and allergies, menu supported by a QR code to check details. No fuss or bother. Fantastic meal, that looked fresh and tasted great. All followed by a Surprise birthday desert. Will definitely visit again.

We had an amazing time at Giggling Squid in Windsor. The staff (especially Wan) were so friendly and helpful. We were given recommendations based on our diet (we’re all vegetarian) and they went above and beyond by giving us an extra portion of massaman curry sauce and a free dessert for my dad’s birthday. 100% would visit again and highly recommend!

Lovely place and good food. Food came at normal speed despite being busy. Takes a long time for a waiter to come. They don't look at you and walk right past you. Would be nice to know if vegetarian food is prepared separately from meat. Seperate pans etc.

Got a takeaway from Giggling squid and was so happy with it! Got the feasting set and such good value! The chicken green curry was divine as well as the chicken satay. Wasn’t a fan of the stir fry but I was pretty full by that point anyway.

We had dinner here last Monday while staying for a few days in Windsor. The food was lovely and we were able to order at a leisurely pace. The service from the manager and his team was excellent.

Lovely meal here, the decor is pretty and atmosphere lively, but relaxed enough for an enjoyable meal. The food was amazing! An explosion of flavours cooked beautifully. Nice selection of beverages too. Public car park close by.

Lovely place to eat prior to any performance at the Theatre Royal Windsor. Zingy prawns to start was a good choice for me, and my dinner partner had Chicken Wings. Both were extremely tasty. We then had Thai Green Curry, Rice and Sticky Chicken for our main course. The staff were very attentive and gave excellent table service.

First visit to a Giggling Squid. Hugely underwhelmed. Food average at best - Pad Thai, a staple of any Thai restaurant, was devoid of taste. One of the items of the shared platter was unavailable and we were asked to pay more for an alternative...

Nice ambience, however the food didn't taste authentic. Red curry was very oily and salty with lesser quantity (ordered as a set) while the vegetables were alright and spring rolls were also decent. There are definitely better Thai places. Pad Thai was fine, no complaints.
