Giggling Squid Bath in Bath and North East Somerset

A great place to eat, the food was good. The staff were amazing, the atmosphere was also great. The only issue was the menu was missing a lot of food we were excited to try. We were told this once we were sat down at our table, we might have changed our mind about eating there if told when we entered the building. Would recommend if the menu had all the food available. A bit pricey for what you get. The starters are around 7 or 8 pounds a time and there isn't a lot of food for that amount.

Beautiful inside. The food was great, ordered the tamarind mushrooms, and they were amazing! Our waiter Kim, went out of his way to make our experience a memorable one. Lovely waiter.

Absolutely amazing food! Me and my Boyfriend stayed in Bath for a couple nights and came to giggling squid once for dinner, then back again the next day for lunch as it was the best food we have had in a while! The caremelised pork belly melts in your mouth, and the pork dumplings were delicious. My boyfriend had some butterflied prawns that he also loved. Its a shame they don't have resturants in the midlands.

Lovely food, hits the spot after a day of spa treatments

Having visited a giggling squid restaurant in Kingston and really enjoyed it, we thought we couldn't go wrong with the one in Bath. Service was really good, however the food was a total let down. All the food served was luke warm (hot food should be served on hot plates not cold ones). I had the melted beef which was just a plate of fat and my partner left most of her green curry as it was tasteless. That will be our last visit to a Giggling squid as they failed to get the basics right.

This is a beautiful restaurant with gorgeous interiors. The staff are incredibly friendly (as one would expect in Bath) and the food was very pleasant. I had the vegetable pad thai and it was seriously delicious.

Always go the giggling squid wherever we visit if they have one. The one in Bath is lovely. Food was excellent... The Massaman is just mmmmmmmm. 🍲😁

Food and interior was good, but communicating with the staff was impossible. Totally incompetent and making mistakes at every step. They need to find one organised person to manage and take orders, instead of 5 that are hopelessly lost. One of the servers (‘manager’?) also had serious problems talking to women and faced me to discuss my partner’s meal.

Went in on the way to the theatre , having been passed quite a few times and this was a first There were problem with allergies, we were directed to an app This does not give complete information and is misleading giggling squid need to appear aware of this but the member of staff seemed clueless The drink menu was missing so we were asked for an order for something that we didn’t know existed One the severs dropped a canteen of cutlery The restaurant was very noisy in an acoustic way and it was impossible to have a conversation The salad that arrived as a starter was dire and basic, the chick wings were poor and tasteless covered in a spicy sticky sauce The whole thing was poor At the end of the starter we decided to leave ( that’s quite a strong thing to do ) There was no offer to resolve the bill although they waived the service charger ( laughable ) I approached them today and they only offered a basic reply For a chain this is an extremely poor response both at a restaurant and management level and I’m very disappointed it should be like this at all

a decent Thai restaurant in historic city of Bath,After having taken a Major.'s free guided walking tour and 5 hours walk for over 13800 steps, found this Thai restaurant opposite of Theate Royal Bath. I tried two signature dishes , both were nice.The firied squid is spicy and crispy. The prown nodel is also nice, but a bit oversweet.

Rang ahead of time to ask if I could order from the kids menu for health reasons and told it was no issue, when I was seated I asked for a kids menu they had to ask 3 different employees because they weren't able to give me an answer. I ordered 2 starts off the kids menu, I though they were a bit filling after eating them I didn't really feel up to a main, I asked when they went to clear the plates are you sure that's a kids portion. They snapped back 'what does it look like to you, you ordered a kids portion it's a kid portion', Im not a very outgoing person i immediately crumbled and said okay, then asked my partner if he could pay up what we've had so far so I could leave and go back to the hotel. I read the receipt my partner brought back and they've charged us for an adults portion, so not only was I completely right in that they'd ignored the adjustments I'd asked for but they then tried to gaslight me into thinking I was imagining it and charged me for it anyway. I massively regret trusting this restaurant to be where I went for our wedding anniversary, we'd had okay experiences before and even got childcare to cover so can't say I'll be back.

Food, as always was excellent, service was brilliant. Considering it was a busy Friday night, we didn't wait long for food or drinks. One star off for atmosphere as it can be quite loud and difficult to hear. Suspect it is the acoustics of the building But still a great place to eat and enjoy good quality food, recommend the belly pork starter!

Great food, very very busy, but good atmosphere

We were looking for a place to eat and charge our phones. The manager told us that we can use their sockets but they cannot provide their own chargers because they cannot accept liability in case the device or the socket breaks. We were pretty desperate and had a lengthy conversation that I can sign a quick note that they would not be responsible. They declined. I appreciate the honesty but the logic doesn’t add up. If they are afraid that something will break then they also should not let customers use their own charging devices inside of the restaurant. But they do. So they are not afraid that something will break if I use my own cable but they are afraid that my phone will break if they use their own cable. I am pretty sure the legalities of the issue would be identical in both cases. Unfortunately the manager has failed to see the logic and it was easier for him to say ‘no’. And therefore if it’s easier for you to say ‘no’ rather than help your customers - you get 2 stars for service. (Not 1 star because he was pleasant and friendly to speak with)

Ton is very good, food nice, but a little bit spicy with me

Giggling Squid was a good experience. The food was very tasty although a few of the dishes seemed overly salty and the starters were maybe a bit too large. The service was very good throughout, attentive but not overbearing, but I found the dining area to be overcrowded, hot and noisy. One or two fewer tables would have done it. It was nicely decorated though. Lastly, although prices were decent, I think that if you’re going to charge the better part of £20 for a main then SIDES SHOULD BE INCLUDED. Rice isn’t that expensive, even in this economy. I’m being picky here, I would recommend Giggling Squid, it’s in the upper echelon of chain restaurants.

We went for my friends birthday at the end of December and the atmosphere is lovely. We were seated downstairs, and it felt secluded in a good way. The food is what I’m writing the review for. It was incredible! We had the Satay four ways, and Bangkok Bites sharers. Couldn’t recommend these enough, perfect for 4 or 5 people as a starter. I had the Honey Crisp Seafood which was amazing.

We didn't book a table but we were still accommodated tonight. We ordered salt and pepper squid as a starter and red prawn curry and drunken ribs for our main course! I would say that it was the best! We really enjoyed the food and the service was amazing as we were served by no other than JAMES BOND himself! 🫣👏🏻 The atmosphere was lovely as it felt like we're in an indoor garden and I would say it is very instagram worthy. 📷 Would definitely recommend this place to my friends if they come to Bath! ☺️ Thank you and keep up the good work, Giggling Squid! 🤍

Had the food before and it’s good as always

Excellent food, great atmosphere, beautiful building.

The food was DELICIOUS!! Best Thai we've had. My hubby, my sister and her hubby, and I stopped in hoping for a nice dinner before heading back to Southport and the Giggling Squid did not disappoint. We had the Yummy Duck Spring Rolls, Salmon Bites, Sticky Chicken, Chicken Pad Thai, and three different rice. We also had the Sorbet and Black Sesame ice cream for dessert and these were also yummy. The only reason why we considered rating the atmosphere at 4 stars was because there was a table with two girls sitting adjacent to us who were really loud. I mean, loud enough where my own table couldn't hear me trying to talk to them. But this wasn't the fault of the restaurant so we still rated it at 5 stars. We would love to come back the next time we are in town.

First experience of dining here and will definitely be returning. Thoroughly enjoyed a variety of starters. Mains of Thai Green curry, Chicken & Prawn pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao were all excellent. Staff were all friendly, helpful and polite. Completely faultless, thank you!!

Very busy and loud due to Christmas markets, so we were glad to have a reservation. Food was good and came out pretty quickly. Great choice for vegan diners.

We had a fabulous lunch here yesterday. The service was excellent and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Our waiter, Balazs was professional, friendly and efficient. We came here because we had eaten at the Salisbury restaurant earlier in the year and it didn't disappoint! Delicious.

Just called in having been to Bath Christmas Market & we were found a table quick even though it was very busy. Very polite and efficient staffing great food.

Food and service were great. Also do some house specials which make having a Thai extra special. Everyone in our party loved the food. We found it a touch noisy, but apart from that, it was a great experience and we would highly recommend.

The food was average. Salt and pepper squid was the only decent thing in my meal. It wasn't amazing but it was better than the rest of the food.

The Giggling Squid does not disappoint. It is really good Thai food in a lovely setting. The prices are pretty reasonable and the food is yummy. The salt and pepper squid is chunky and nice. The chicken satay is delicious. The sticky chicken is my favourite dish. And my wife raves about the coconut rice.

This restaurant is really wonderful. We sit inside the cage, of which the decoration is amusing. The thai style foods are really tasty and well-looking. Services are also 5 stars even though I visit them during Sunday lunch peak hour.

Went yesterday lunchtime with a friend. Excellent service and fantastic food! It was very busy due to the Bath Christmas market but the staff were still very friendly and efficient. We didn’t have to wait for our meals and nor were we rushed either after eating. Would definitely recommend the Prawn Penang Curry and the Lamb shank Massaman Curry. 😋Both were delicious and the prawn crackers were so tasty too!

Managed to get a table on a busy Saturday when Xmas Market was in full flow. Very friendly staff and Katherine looked after our table. All good,service fast and efficient despite it getting very busy. Lovely decor and tables not too close together . Had Jungle curry and Massaman chicken with coconut rice. Great meals, food fresh, good taste and nicely presented. Would recommend this restaurant .😀😀👍👍

I came to eat here about 4 days ago. I was honestly surprised at how good the food was. I ordered the spicy rice noodles with shrimp and chicken and the large chocolate dessert with the vanilla ice cream scoop on top. Everything was so rich in flavor, but not one ingredient fully overpowered the other. Every part complemented the rest to form this balanced whole dish which tasted delicious! My taste buds were so happy. The guys working there were pretty nice too, and some extraordinarily perceptive. Thank you!

We booked a table for this restaurant and enjoyed the food very much, although it would have been even better with a few minor tweaks. First off, even though we booked a table, it was not ready when we arrived. Secondly, having ordered multiple dishes to share, the plate we were given to eat our own food off was so small you could barely fit anything on it. I’m thinking they have used a saucer by mistake, though looking around other people seemed to have the same issue. Thirdly, the downstairs seating area could do with some love and care, because upstairs looks so much nicer and seems to have a much better atmosphere as a result. I hope this feedback helps make the experience match the delicious food.

The service, ambiance and food here is absolutely wonderful! We were running late to arrive at the restaurant and it was very close to the closing time but manager Kim was really kind to cater to us with proper 3-course meal while kindly explaining about the kitchen closing timing. The service was absolutely brilliant and the food was heavenly. Because of that we decided to go there the next day too! Chicken and Lamb is halal so we ordered Lamb shank massaman, chicken and prawn pad thai and their sea food platter. Worth every penny!

It is one of the amazing places if you want to explore some Thai cuisine. It has a great Ambience & plenty of food options to choose from. You will be able to find both vegan & non veg options in the restaurant. The food was super tasty & delicious.The place is lit up & uplifts your mood. Taste wise the food served hot & yummy. It's one of the best Thai places I have ever tried. The cost is not very high. You can definitely give a visit to the place if you are looking for Thai cuisine.

I ordered the wrong set menu and was disappointed when it came. The waitress kindly offered to change it at no extra charge even though the mistake was mine. Food delicious and service went above and beyond. Thank you so much!

Arrived by chance.Understood this was a great find!! All the Portions were so tasty!!Really excellent. We were served by Jasmine,she was excellent,friendly enagaing took care of us very promptly. Highly recommend,and make sure to book in advance. Only issue I had was,the noisieness! as the place was fully booked!and with poor ceiling acoustics As,an older person found that quite a challenge!

One of the best thai food we've ever had. The interior is also amazing. Expensive but so are the other thai restaurants. On top of everything, the food is halal. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely meal. The place to as packed. Food was a little Spicer than expected but was excellent All the staff we came into contact with were brilliant. Special mention to our waitress Jasmine. She was so cute and attentive. We paid the service charge and left a cash tip, such was our delight at the service.

My partner and I had been here before so I was excited to bring my parents for them to try as we had raved about this place previously. Staff were all friendly and we were seated in good time. Ordered our drinks and they came out quickly. Starters were amazing and so fresh! We shared 2 chicken satays, salt and pepper chilli mushrooms and duck spring rolls with some prawn crackers on the side. All these starters tasted incredible and were so flavoursome! My partner and I both ordered the king prawn pad Thai which was beautiful but we only had 3 king prawns and lots of tofu. Too much tofu in my opinion and I would have liked maybe 4/5 king prawns. My dad had the sticky chicken as a main which was incredible and probably tasted the best! My mum chose the marinated steak and crispy slow cooked beef which looked lovely but was stone cold! My mum was so disappointed and we sent it back but they had to create a new dish, was told it would take about 10 minutes and it took about 15 minutes. Not a huge issue but we had nearly finished our meals. It came out fresh and warm but still not hot so was very disappointing. Also disappointing to see the bill came in full and nothing knocked off. I queried this and explained I did not expect this meal for free but I did manage to get some bits removed. Thank you for doing this and for the great service. This mishap will not put us off in the future and we will definitely be back. Construction criticism - Our plates were stone cold when our mains arrived, why aren’t the plates warm/hot? Maybe that’s why our food wasn’t hot hot and mum had to return hers.

Please do not waste your precious money going here. Plenty of other better and authentic Thai restaurants in Bath. The service and lack of management is shocking. There were 5 of us on a friday evening. The guy on reception desk when we arrived looked a little lost and clueless. Eventually got shown to our table. We ordered starters and main courses. The oysters mushrooms were on the menu but out of stock. The main I wanted I was told had run out, then the dessert Pineapple, Coconut & Mekhong Sorbet had run out. Literally you can’t make it up! I had the Pad Thai along with 4 of my friends we all agreed lacking flavour/bland. Bill time- I was charged twice after being told cards been declined. We waited 20Minutes at the table for the one and only manager that could authorise a refund. One member of staff said he had gone to the shop, another said he’s in the toilet!!! In the meantime one of my friends had to get her train before she missed it. Finally the manager we were long awaiting made an appearance. Not only was there no apology or understanding, he proceeded to ignore us and serve another table. We were all stopped in our tracks- appalled and astonished. Even 2 of the young waiters were surprised. He eventually came over and said what’s the problem (after already being informed by the young waiter) and then followed by “I don’t know why I’m needed we have 3 other managers that can help you”. They all agreed it was a very complicated system and the bill needed to be paid in full before a refund can be carried out???? Really? They suggested one of my friends reimburse me as opposed to them. TOTAL SHAMBLES!!! Rude Rude Rude manager that went missing for over 20minutes and nobody knowing where he was…..

Fantastic restaurant with, a well-done interior design theme. The service of the staff was excellent. The food? Even better! It was nice to have Thai-style tapas at lunchtime. I have been here before and I will be coming again. It was brilliant. Thank you for providing such a lush lunch for us.

Went here for drinks and snacks with friends. Went to the bar and was served by a brilliant young gent, he made us all Samurai Coladas and they were brilliant. He was welcoming and had top banter with us . Made the night! Would definitely come again !

I was wowed from the moment I entered the restaurant, quirky but elegant decor with floral touches added to iron pergolas and wooden lattice panels that made it magical. Staff were attentive without being overly enthusiastic. The food was excellent and the cocktails sublime. On the whole a fantastic dining experience.

We went to Giggling Squid for my Dad’s birthday and was beyond impressed by the service, especially the bar. All drinks were above expectation and the gentleman who served me was friendly, charming and efficient. Will most definitely be visiting again. 5 stars.

After searching for restaurants in bath we stumbled across the Giggling squid and it was worth it. Overall the atmosphere is amazing, staff attentive and welcoming, the food was incredible. We had amazing food the pad kee mao was just perfection !!

Had a really good experience. Although it was full, we got our order in less time. Lamb shank Massaman was really tasty. The noodles were good too. And the red curry was the best. Will definitely go again.

This had been recommended. It was very busy, queues outside the door but we had made a reservation so we got in fine. Once in there was a very long wait for our meal. The staff were lovely and apologetic and they made a good reduction on the bill. All in all a pleasant enough lunch though we wouldn’t rush back.

The restaurant was bustling and the staff were welcoming. The wings were full of flavour and succulent. The one bite salmon was a little too complex for my undeveloped taste. The crispy slow cooked beef was a revelation. My daughter’s(3) peanut sauce chicken skewer was “sooo good, delicious and scrumptious “ My table neighbour said they also felt the food was good.

Had a lovely lunch at a good price. Had the salt and pepper squid tapas set and the squid was excellent. Very nice kiwi yoghurt ice cream too. Attentive, friendly service, Waitress refilled my water glass twice without having to ask her. Will definitely be back.

Dinner for a family get-together, excellent! Nice interior and welcoming atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful. There were six of us, we had sharing starters + a range of main courses, all superb. Highly recommended hope to visit again :)
