The food is really incredible here, and very unique. I’m pretty sure anything on the menu will be great, and all dishes are full of flavor and spice. They place was pretty empty on a Monday night although they kept telling people they were holding tables for their reservations. The Black Pork dish was one of the best South Asian dishes I’ve ever had and very unique to experience pork with this flavor profile as it’s not very common on Southern Asian menus. Goat and potatoes, Dahl, fried paneer cheese in sauce, and the thing with meat and shredded roti were all hits. Interestingly the hoppers that they really hype up were the only things I personally wouldn’t get again, but it’s worth a try if you’ve never had it. The food is served as a small plate sharing menu. They say that 3-4 is the suggested amounts of plates per person although I think 3 is more than enough per person IMO. We didn’t get to try the drinks menu but they have some great deals if you buy two drinks of the same category.

We came here as a family for the first time very recently. When I first walked in we were all so impressed with the decor. They got it so right it looked amazing! The staff were very helpful and friendly. They worked very hard to make sure we had everything we needed. We hadn’t all eaten Sri Lankan food before so they were so helpful to explain what was on offer. The food was incredibly delicious. The toilets were spotless as was the whole place. I would definitely recommend this place. The food was sublime.

Very disappointed. The atmosphere was great, we ordered our dishes where the service was a little clunky. Some of our food turned up which was really nice, 2 dishes were missing. I then politely asked for over an hour where the remaining 2 were and the waiter basically said they weren’t coming and he’d refund them. Usually I wouldn’t care but we were looking forward to them and I don’t understand why the waiter just lied for over an hour where he eventually said there was a mix up, why make us wait? We wouldn’t have cared if we were told straight away. Even when we asked for the bill, it wasn’t brought to us so in the end we just walked out and paid. Such a shame.

Lovely food and drinks and a great atmosphere. Unfortunately was let down by price and service. We'd gone specifically there because of a special offer which the staff seemed very reluctant to honour, doing what the could to get our of it. Service was also incredibly slow, no one checked on us during our meal for s food check or drinks order. In the end they half heartedly honoured the special offer that their website was advertising but the night out was a lot dearer than anticipated, it put quite a dampener on the end of the evening. Food and drinks great so was a real shame the service was such a let down. I only noticed when home that they'd added service charge on which I'm cross I didn't spot as I would have removed that. Edit: I emailed the venue on the night of my visit, and then again 2 weeks ago subsequent to the below request. No response so far...

The food is the reason I'm giving 4 stars - it was very good (and amazing that it was bottomless). But the service and atmosphere did not live up unfortunately. We booked for a bottomless brunch at lunchtime on a Saturday, but it was veryyyy slow. Each order was put in as a "regular" drinks order, meaning your 90 minutes of bottomless was significantly slowed. Despite it being very quiet as well, they really took their time to serve us. The atmosphere was non-existent also (it being so quiet didn't help). This place needs a bit of TLC, then it would definitely be 5 star!

We popped in with some friends for dinner. The food overall was good, quite spicy. The service was chaotic. Food came out in dribs and drabs, the staff seemed generally confused. It may be that it is supposed to give it the edgy street market feel, but it does not. Our friends had almost finished their food before ours arrived. Before the food arrived we asked for some more drinks and were told that we had to relinquish our table in 15 minutes, to which we politely pointed out that we had not yet had hardly any of our food. She went off and when she returned to take the drinks order we had almost finished eating. Two dishes also came cold, so not cooked fresh as you wait, as the menu tells us. There was a waiter who was doing his best and was very good but overall it was mild carnage.

incredible restaurant / menu! its not every day you get to try Sri Lankan cuisine, and it was a fantastic experience all the way through. the menu (including cocktails) is creative and offers a refreshing variety. as we had a hard time choosing from many vegan & vegetarian options, the super friendly staff recommended to simply put together a "best-of" for us. best decision ever - we received a full table of different veggie delights. colourful, rich, with a variety of tasty coconut curries, pickles, glazed paneer cubes, rice dishes, salsas and much more. we finished every last grain of rice, because it was just fantastic, and happily rolled out on the street. 10/10 recommended!

We visited the restaurant through recommendation. It did not disappoint. Our table was in the most poignant position. Very very busy throughout our time here. The staff were vibrant, On point . And so friendly. So much so after our bottomless brunch .. we decided to stay and enjoy some of the coconut trees more premium cocktails. THE FOOD Wow!! The flavours. Not just curry's.. no!! I'm a carnivore. But my waiter recommended some of the vegan options. They were delicious. Cooked to perfection. pumpkin.. lentils... etc... My favourite: Calamari- it was amazing!!! Crisp.. and tender... I'm fussy when it comes to squid. To top it off the ambiance was so relaxing . With a good vibe of music..I will definitely be coming back. Maybe not for the bottomless brunch , it was amazing, That was a taster. The prices are so reasonable . The portion sizes are huge!!! Iv been in hospitality for 30 years. We came here the 3rd weekend in July for a hen party brunch. Booked months in advance and booked a specific hen package – which changed between booking and the date of visit – however, the restaurant said they would honour what we had originally booked. When we arrived we were told we would have to sit on separate tables, which wasn’t what we had arranged. After a whole hoo-hah of issues with different tables, we asked to move to the biggest table they had (which would fit us all), and were told that when the family occupying the table had left, we should be able to move and in the meantime to order drinks. Four of the party ordered prosecco, which, upon arrival tasted flat. At this point, everyone was less than impressed and with it being a hen party, we were rather disappointed, especially for the bride to be. It then transpired that actually they had run out of prosecco (which makes me think the drinks could have been watered down as opposed to being flat) – however, we were offered some pink fizzy stuff instead, which luckily everyone was happy with. They moved us to the bigger table and got the drinks going, I think in an attempt to win us over after such a failed first impression – of course this effort was welcomed. The food here is absolutely incredible and the portions are more than fair, I actually cannot recommend the food enough! It turns out that all the FoH staff were on their first few shifts and that the manager had been brought in from another location at very short notice. Though this did show, they did a tremendous job at looking after us and rectifying the disastrous initial situation – I should say, that a few of us were verbal with our dissatisfaction and did sort of put our foot down with our expectations – I think if we hadn’t have done this, our level of service would not have improved to the level which it did, but I can’t say that for sure. Nevertheless, we all ended up having a fabulous time and I would for sure return to The Coconut Tree – thank you for having us and good luck 😊

We arrived here without a reservation and that was no problem. It wasn't that busy. We were assigned a table and they brought drawing supplies for my daughter. We were given a menu and only when we asked about portions were we also shown the children's menu. That menu is great with various dishes including vegetables (something that is often forgotten in other restaurants). We chose the option to let them choose the dishes. They recommend 4 per person, but that's too many. Better with 3 per person or 5 for both. The food is well prepared, tasty and varied. The service was also good, but there was one major drawback. At checkout an optional 10% was added to the bill!! service costs added. Without any warning or anything like that. You can expect this in other countries, but in England everyone gets a decent wage. Then charge another 10% WITHOUT ANY QUESTIONS? That's a scam. So enjoy the food and the service, but be sure to check the bill!

I would have given 4 stars overall if it wasn't for the hidden "optional" 10% service fee added to the bill. The food and drinks were delicious (with lots of vegetarian options and a decent healthy kids menu), and the service was friendly and helpful. However, when we got the bill, I noticed that an "optional" 10% service fee had been added to the bill without our prior consent. When I asked to have this removed, that was done, but then I was asked if the service was not up to scratch, and if it was, why weren't we paying the service fee. I thought it was strange to be quizzed about an optional fee, so I explained that we are not Americans and this is not America. We left without any goodbyes or thank yous, and with a bitter taste in our mouths after such a pleasant meal.

I had been to the Coconut Tree in Cheltenham and had one of the best meals of my life so when I saw there was one in Bath, we added it to our plans. This was one of my family of four's favorite meals during our visit. Everyone was so friendly and eager to help us figure out what to order. The restaurant is VERY clean. They have a lovely 2 for $8 for their mocktails so we had the virgin mojito raspberry and passion fruit along with sprites. For food, we each ordered a hopper and they were so good (highly recommend). They had a nice kick to them. We shared the cheesy Colombo, prawn curry, hot battered calamari, black pork, chicken curry on the bone, and vegetarian kotthu. My favorites were the black pork and the kotthu but honestly everything was so good. We don't have Sri Lankan restaurants where I'm from and I was excited to share it with my family. They all loved it and raved about the food, the vibes, and the service. I loved that the menu was a little different from when I went in Cheltenham so I got to try new things while also ordering what I enjoyed last time. Just a few items of note: They say to order ~4 dishes per person and that would've definitely been too much for us hahah and we do tend to eat a lot. I personally think 2-3 per person is perfect but it also depends on which items you get as some are more filling than others. Lastly, they have an express meal which was a nice option. We didn't order it as we wanted menu items that were not included but if you're in a rush and also want a great meal, it seems really nice! 10/10 would recommend dining here!

We visited as a large group at lunchtime, taking advantage of the advertised bottomless lunch. It took about 10 minutes having been seated to have everything explained to us. It was pretty restrictive and confusing. Whether that was our disorganisation or theirs, I’m not sure. It took forever (another 10-15 minutes) for the first drinks to arrive and our food order was only taken as the first drinks arrived. Recognising the need to play the game a bit, we tried to order second drinks as the first arrived but this ‘confused’ matters and is where the wheels started to come off. The staff were unable to deal with a group of this size (25, booked in advance) and there seemed to be elementary mistakes in how to serve that many people; none of the staff seemed to know what was going on and this led to drinks being missed, tables not being served for 20 minutes or more. The food then started coming out and it was a shambles; a main and either a side or a pancake was the deal yet people got either their main but not the side / pancake or vice versa and were waiting up to 20 minutes for the corresponding item to arrive. I only got my food 90 minutes after arriving at the venue. When a colleague asked politely where her drink was, she was asked how many drinks she’d had; clearly a reference to a maximum the establishment wants / needs to impose to remain profitable but completely unacceptable in what’s billed as a ‘bottomless’ offer. Hugely disappointing. The food was delicious when it arrived but the hassle and frustration around the whole service delivery means I won’t be going back.

Coconut Tree came up as highly recommended so we came in with high expectations but weren’t blown away. The decor and vibes are lovely, we loved all the artwork on the walls. Unfortunately, the food was a bit disappointing. The dhaal and goat curry were delicious. However, the kotthu didn’t live up to expectations, the chicken wings were too chewy and a bit tasteless and some of the cheese pieces were overcooked/rock solid. They also only offer tap water, no bottled which I found quite strange. They set fire to one of their drinks using a sugar cube and cinnamon which is a nice touch (bit gimmicky) but servers need to be a bit more careful when sprinkling the cinnamon as they got it all over the table, our coats and bags and brown powder doesn’t go well with cream coats! Our waitress Harshini was super helpful and great with recommendations and concerns about allergies. Unsure if we caught them on a bad day but I probably wouldn’t visit again.

Fantastic Sri Lankan food coupled with amazing customer service! Great atmosphere, fun staff, an all round excellent experience. Our servers talked us through our orders and were attentive throughout. We particularly enjoyed our cocktails and the prawn curry. A big thank you to Libby and the rest of the staff.

The atmosphere was excellent and the lead waiter exceptional. The food was good, especially the prawn curry and hoppers. The cheesy Columbo was nice, but a bit too much cheese! We felt a bit short changed as the bottomless option does have restrictions and we were not clear of what and when we could order. They added the 10% service charge without asking, so be mindful of that.

Evening meal with my partner and two children, one of whom has food allergies. I spoke with our server, Rooney, at the outset about the allergies - nuts, dairy, egg, crustaceans - and he carefully went through the menu with us to identify which dishes my younger son could have, but better still, he then served the dishes that my younger son needed to avoid in different coloured bowls. This was brilliant given that one of the pleasures of a Sri Lankan restaurant is that dishes are shared at the table. It meant my younger son could safely participate in sharing dishes while we could also order dishes containing allergens. Also, Rooney adapted one dish to remove the egg, and all my son’s dishes were cooked in pans that had been specifically cleaned to ensure no allergy contamination . All of the food was delicious and my youngest has found his new favourite restaurant. Finding a place like this that can provide exceptionally interesting, tasty allergy-free food is wonderful. Thank you Rooney and the Coconut Tree kitchen 😊

We visited the Coconut Tree for an early dinner. We were warmly greeted and had the menu carefully explain to us by Rodney. Rodney was a great waiter and assisted us by describing some meals we had no knowledge of. The food was really tasty and a real change from other restaurants we usually use. We really enjoyed the Egg Hoppers and the really tasty curry choices. A really enjoyable meal.

Friday night out in Bath with a group of friends, one of whom had the foresight to book a table for eight. The menu was helpfully curated as we chose small plates for sharing. We started with hoppers with some tasty cocktails and sampled almost everything on the menu. Honourable mentions for the Kaju Maluwa (vegan), Jaffna Goat Curry, and Prawn Curry. The Chicken Kottu authenticated the street food vibe.

We made a booking for 7 people for lunch as part of a family celebration. We arrived and were placed at a table for 6 that was already tiny and cramped. We politely pointed out that there were 7 of us (and that’s what we booked for) and we needed a table that could accommodate us. The waitress said she would find something for us and we were asked to wait. After standing around for 5 minutes we were then guided to a table on the mezzanine floor. However the window on this floor was open which made the room very cold and would have resulted in the food getting cold super fast. We asked to close it but the waitress said she would need to find someone to help her. We waited a further 10 minutes. No one came and the staff kept looking up at us as though hoping we would just be quiet. The staff were at this point trying to avoid the issue whilst still looking up at us. We made the best executive family decision that if this is what the seating device was like the rest would be disastrous and so we left. Thankfully abandon Kitchen had room for us and the service was excellent and we had a lovely meal. We will never be going back to Coconut Tree.

Fantastic evening. Rodney and the team were brilliant and added a lot of laughs and smiles to our meal out! The Coconut Tree has such an amazing range of veggie and vegan options (as well as meat options), which made it even better as a mostly vegetarian family. Great atmosphere, relaxed and friendly. Couldn’t recommend it more. A new favourite place in Bath for us!

Orders were taken for our drinks, which did not arrive. Then another table was served with drinks and they had sat down after us. The waiter also mentioned that portion sizes were very small so he recommended to order 3 portions per person. Plus he said everyone would have to leave by 9pm as they were not very busy. This was at 8:10pm. So we left. Not impressed.

The restaurant was lovely and we were really excited to eat. We are Sri Lankan and wanted to have some home food in Bath, but were unfortunately disappointed. We ordered the Jaffna Goat Curry, the 5c sambal, paratha, hot battered mushrooms and the vegan kothu. None of our food items were of a good standard; the Jaffna goat curry was too tough and we struggled to eat with our hands as the meat was impossible to separate, the paratha was microwaved (we have the same ones at home) and the mushrooms tasted of bad oil. Most importantly the sambal had a cheesy taste and we quickly realised that something had gone off in it. We told the waitress and we received no apology, just that it was taken off the bill. Overall the food was of poor quality and as Sri Lankans, we were quite ashamed. On the plus side, the drinks were incredible and very reasonably priced. We had the shriki tiki and beach boy cocktails and these were incredible. The waitress did a fire show with the shriki tiki which was really amazing and not what we were expecting given how cheap it was. The atmosphere was also nice and the restaurant was beautiful. It was just such a shame that the food was not up to scratch.

This restaurant in Bath is very authentic with the whole place decked out in Thai bits and bobs on the walls ceiling & everywhere you look! An open kitchen produces wonderful tasty food from the greater Thai region. Service was prompt & the menu simple to navigate. We had the full sharer for three. The dishes were delicious & plentiful & what we didn’t eat my daughter had it put up 4a takeaway. A great place to eat in my opinion
