German Doner Kebab - Burton Upon Trent in East Staffordshire

I went to GDK today for lunch, and it was my first time there. The food was incredibly delicious and of high quality. The place is beautiful, and they have free parking. The staff were very friendly, especially the manager, Angelo. My family and I will definitely be coming back again. Thank you!

compare to others here is the best kebab they serve fresh foods and hot ,good service at all and dinning area are clean including the toilet staffs are good

The food serve are hot and fresh. i like the taste especially the sauce its blend with the chicken. the price for the meal is affordable too. Also, I’m satisfied with my dinning experience and all staff are approachable and helpful.

we were satisfied. the food is really delicious. the environment is clean and the staff was kind to us. we ordered original german doner kebab mix and got everything we ordered.

Working away me and five other lads all ordered GDK for our dinner after a hard days graft. First time we ordered spring rolls with the boxes and cheesy chilli bites but apparently they had run out of spring rolls, didn’t tell us but instead added more cheese bites. Second time, no sauces and missing items. We called Uber Eats but they weren’t too helpful. Won’t be stung by the Burton upon Trent branch again, it’s obvious why this branch has only 2 1/2 star reviews on trip advisor. Avoid!

We had the grand kids over and one of them loves the GDK Dorito Burger (well the ones he's had from other branches anyway) so we decided to treat everyone to a GDK delivery from the Burton branch. Big mistake! We went online and ordered 6 meals and with a delivery fee this came to over £82!! We sit and wait, and it a remarkably quick time (too quick thinking about it) I see a delivery driver heading to or front door .He had in his hand one small bag of food which clearly didn't contain 6 meals. My wife met him at the door and pointed this out, also pointing out that actually it was someone else's order. The guy refused to take the meal back, came out with the "im only only the delivery guy" line and duly departed. Following the Just Eat instructions in such circumstances we tried to telephone Burton GDK. After 4 attempts and maybe 20 minutes on the phone ringing out my wife and son got into the car to drive into town to try to sort this out. Kind of defeats paying for delivery doesnt it? By this time the Grandkids are hungry and ready for their tea. Now anyone can make a mistake i guess, but this is where things get worse. The staff at GDK didnt care. My wife says they were very rude and were also talking ( about her she thinks) in a language other than English directly to her face. I have no problem with peoples background or what languages they speak but there is an etiquette to customer service that doesnt mean changing languages so they cant understand. Being £82 down and in need of a meal my wife had hoped to return the wrong meal and get a correct replacement. After a short time spent "pretending" to take the details of the replacement order one of the staff then went to the food prep area (which is visible from the counter) and was talking to another staff member before returning to my wife with some security cam footage of a delivery driver leaving the shop with "our" order. This he seemed to feel was sufficient to refuse to replace our order unless we paid again!!! Well 2 can play at that game as our "Ring" door bell camera showed footage of the different driver with someone else's order. But rude and unconcerned the GDK staff remained. It takes a lot to make my wife angry but she was disgusted with the Burton GDK staff. And what is more they refused to take back the incorrect order. With hungry kids to feed my wife then had to get some food from elsewhere and the whole episode pretty much ruined the time spent with grandkids and we are currently still £82 down waiting for Just Eat to process the refund. I have, in my formal complaint to Just Eat suggested they drop Burton GDK from their list if they don't want their reputation destroyed. And another thing worth pointing out, as well as paying delivery fees it also appears the menu prices for GDK on Just eat are higher than if you go into the branch and order it yourself so in effect that's a substantial level of extra "hidden" delivery fees. One final point...when leaving a review you have to choose whether the food was "early" "ontime" or "late". Just Eat need to add a "never turned up" option. For purposes of this review I've ticked "late". 36 hours later and im still waiting :-) Burton branch GDK --AVOID. There are much better and more reliable and less rip off options

I was blown away! A kebab is not my normal dinner choice but thought we’d give it a try just for fun really. The food was nothing short of amazing. Tasty, fresh and that sauce! The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and fun. I will definitely be returning for more. Thanks very much German Donner, best meal experience this year bar none.

OMG I can’t believe how slow the service was, and it wasn’t even busy. Order in and then you might not mind the wait.

Absolutely horrendous service, order did not arrive, restaurant never answered the phone, drove over and they weren't bothered whatsoever, said Nothing we can do, not our drivers, shocking service !!!!!

Food was awesome and customer service by team and manager fabulous . Atmosphere inside the restaurant very nice new trending music . Cleaning 💯.recommend to friends as well

I have always enjoyed the German Donor, when I lived in derby, I moved to Burton and then found that a new branch was opening. It started out all good, but as time has gone on the quality and service has decreased rapidly. Just as a warning for everyone, never pay for extra, extra filling (meats) never pay for spices or other items as they don't provided them. If you order an extra portion of fries, they are splitting the main orders down so it appears that you are getting extra.. its a scam!! Not only this, the extra meat tou request on the Donors. Again they don't gove you extra. I have noticed this on many occasions and at first I though it was just a one off. But then come to learn it was getting worse each order. Also to add, you will find that even though they claim it all to be fresh, it always arrives cold. Bear in mind I live 5 mins away from the store. They regular get the drinks wrong. You ask for a 330ml can but you will always get the 250ml and charged the same if not more. My last order was a Kcal boss box, and when it arrived. Well it was rammed in a wrap and shoved in a small wrap box, and yet it was meant to be large. Good job I asked for salad seperate. Otherwise it would have been a salad wrap with a side dressing of chicken and beef 🤦

Simply awful went to the restaurant at 9.30 ordered an original kebab no sauces just garlic mayo. Oh dear waited to be served for 5 minutes there was nobody in front of me, took my order no please no thankyou order arrived fairly quick. No garlic mayo completely dry, the bread was really hard and hardly any donner meat. So so disappointed obviously not fresh. Such a shame the restaurant is lovely when you walk in clean and fresh but the food and service unfortunately attrocias

This was our first visit here and probably our last. We were very disappointed with the food and the service was chaotic. As a previous post the staff were more interested in the delivery people who surrounded the counter demanding their orders. We had a beef and a chicken kebab and a portion of cheesy chips. The chips were ok but extremely expensive for such a small portion and we have had better kebabs from our local chippy ! We were expecting some special but were left very disappointed and as mentioned would not return.

Takeaway through Uber eats 4/3/22 arrived late and cold ordered double portion of meat and it’s was 90% salad and what was left was little shreds of donner mixed in NO CHICKEN!( it was meant to be mix Kebab) all for £11.25 ! NEVER AGAIN!!

Had a quick trip for a cheeky kebab in Burton-upon-Trent. Obviously the German doner group is pretty standardised across all branches. However, found the staff to be truly attentive and considerate. Ammina in particular was really polite and had an excellent demeanor with the kids....

Extremely slow and unorganised, manager also talking to the cashier mid way through ordering which meant the order took a lot longer than it should have. Only turn up if you're happy to wait 30 minutes.
