Been here a few times with the missus, always excellent service and food and recommendations from the Manager on duty ,we will be back again,,the best fish and chips Nottingham has to offer without a doubt,

Upon our early arrival for our reservation, we discovered our table was not yet prepared. However, this minor inconvenience swiftly turned into a delightful prelude, as we were graciously accommodated at the bar. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, displaying exceptional hospitality despite our premature presence. Our dining experience took place in a charming, beach hut-themed section of the restaurant, where we were pleasantly surprised by the breadth of the menu. Accompanying me was a six-year-old, who was treated with such remarkable attention and care by the staff, making her feel exceptionally valued and special. While the extraordinary service and vibrant atmosphere alone would have been sufficient to guarantee a return visit, the culinary experience elevated our evening to new heights. The dishes were not only visually appealing but were crafted from the freshest ingredients, resulting in flavours that were both exquisite and satisfying. This dining experience proved to be not just memorable but also offered excellent value for money. A truly commendable establishment that I eagerly look forward to visiting again.

We booked George's as it was always somewhere we went when I was studying at Uni in Nottingham. It was sad to see that it was VERY quiet for a Saturday night and was lacking the old atmosphere. The food was very yummy though and the staff very friendly.

Apon arrival, staff were very polite and helpful. I ordered fish, chips and peas. The food was served quickly and was super fresh and tasted lovely! Highly recommend to everyone!.

Lo stesso non può dirsi per la British Fish Feast della sera, un fritto molto pesante che ha sovrastato il sapore del pesce risultando poco gradevole. Birra anonima. Immangiabile il contorno di mushy peas, letteralmente "piselli molli", portata inconcepibile dal punto di vista del gusto e della consistenza.

Very dissatisfied with the quality of the Christmas Dinner tonight. Had the roast dinner served in the Yorkshire pudding, the turkey was dry, Yorkshire pudding was flat and tasteless, the veg was quite obviously straight out the freezer. The fish & chips are always a winner, should have had that instead. Staff were friendly, no issues with the service

We went on Sunday night on the 12th . Time of getting the food from ordering wasn’t too bad but I’m afraid was poor , they brought out to my wife gravy with her fish and chips stating they had no mushy peas. We weren’t told before hand as my wife would had probably ordered something else. The food was quite cold along with the restaurant but my main gripe is that when the waiting staff served us they leant over mine and others food instead of going round so 3 times I had a hairy arm in my face and over my food , I didn’t particularly like that the first time and said something but it happened twice more. They did knock off 20% because of the Luke warm food but it was still expensive for what we had. I have been before but I don’t think I would be back and very unlikely to recommend

We were celebrating an 80th birthday party and there were around 16 of us. Had to wait an age for the food to come and we had 5 hungry young children with us. One of them was served last and was upset that everybody else was eating! Some of us ordered the fish chips and peas and an extra side of curry sauce which arrived 10 minutes after the main dish (having asked where it was on several occasions) which had gone cold by this time. When it did arrive, I'd have been embarrassed to serve the stuff as it was so thin and watery & tasteless. It was the first time we'd been to George's having heard good reviews, but it must have gone way downhill recently because the food definitely wasn't up to scratch. As we dined on two separate tables we asked that the bills to also be separate. Not individual, just separate for each table. The staff made a complete cock up of the bills which was also unforgiveable as there were at least 3 waiting staff and the place was nearly empty. I can now see why! At a cost of around £280 (No alcohol, just soft drinks and coffee) I can definitely say, NEVER AGAIN!

Well located very much at the heart of the city. British-themed dishes such as fish and chips and steak pie; ok but not great. Service was friendly enough and quite efficient.

This was meant to be a lovely meal with friends for a birthay. I booked a beach hut on the second floor for this to feel more special, and i rang ahead as i had seen online they had woucher vouchers for 2 cocktails and 2 courses. I rang ahead due to allergies and wanted to check if this was the main menu and confirmed booking - they confirmed it is the main menu and the beach hut was fine. When we arrived we were told they were short staffed so we couldnt have the beach hut - slightly disappointed however it was a surpise so it wasnt known to the birthday girl it could of been worse. We sat down and got a drink. When we went to order our food we were told the menu was different. When the menu came we couldnt eat due to allergies. There was a lot of back and forth with a memeber of staff who was relaying information from the manager. And it had turned out when they brought the menus they took the voucher and had redeemed them even though we had not ordered. When the food did finally come after being told they would wave the voucher and we can have what we want within allergies and they would change the price. Once food was here one meal had to go back because of allergies. And when it came back the gammon which had been ordered had been changed to bacon and they hoped it would not be noticed - the bacon wasnt very nice however the chips and egg was. The hunters chicken was very nice and well enjoyed Fish and chips is good however chip portion is alot smaller than other meals. Spicy chicken burger is nice and the spices and sauces are in the breaded chicken. Cocktails are interesting however not sure they taste like the thing youve ordered the Palma Violet is more like a black russian. Desserts were really nice - we had one of the share platters, cake, 3 ice creams and candy floss. A banna split(had to pay extra) and a dish of vanilla ice cream. Overall greatful ive been once but wont be returning.

Such a beautiful restaurant in the heart of Nottingham City! Food is absolutely amazing and the desserts are delicious and home made! Attention to detail even on a busy day.. Would highly recommend, but would suggest to prebook as its always very busy.

Had a wonderful time at George's a few days ago. Me and my friend ordered the fish feast and a chicken burger. What can I say, the workers were friendly and attentive, they came to check we were enjoying our food and honestly it was beautiful. The feast was exactly that! A huge feast, the fish was lovely a crisp on the batter, my friend Tim wouldn't shut up about the burger for hours after we left. Definitely will be coming back

Whilst the decor and staff were lovely, the quality of the food is poor for the cost. We were given 50% of our food, clearly even the staff knew it wasn't up to scratch as we barely said anything. When a restaurant's prime sales point is fish and chips, you'd expect the chips to be good. They were burnt, cold and soggy. The lettuce on our starters was brown. The chicken tasted like it was fried with the fish. The staff were great and wanting to make it better, but you can't rectify poor quality ingredients and corner cutting in the kitchen.

We pre-booked for Saturday night. Good food with both traditional fish shop menu plus variations and pies. Nice selection of soft drinks. Close to both Nottingham City Centre and the theatres. Easy to get to on the tram or by bus.

Had our wedding reception at Georges. The staff were fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. They went above and beyond to help make our day very special. Food was lovely with a wide variety of requirements being met. Everyone left feeling happy and full! Only 1 star knocked off as some items on the menu were expensive, however this is not a reflection on the brilliant staff on site, but George's as a company. Would highly recommend George's for a celebratory gathering.

The restaurant is lovely to look at, but the food quality was poor. I would guess that it is not 'fresh pub food' made on-site. Instead, it tasted like chicken and waffles that had been purchased at Costco or similar and then reheated or microwaved for guests. I would not visit a second time.

Not a great meal. Service was poor. Quite obvious our meal got delayed in the kitchen when the tables that came in after us got served first (and there were only three of us). Pretty sure the twice cooked chips weren’t. Barely had any colour and looked like the small ones from the end of a fry. The mushy peas had been left under the heat lamps so had gained a skin and actually were cold underneath. The battered fish also didn’t look like it had been in the fryer long enough. We sat down at 12pm got our main meal 12.45 When it did arrive the Batter was nearly as white as the fish for both of us.For Between the Batter and the fish was sticky /insipid uncooked mixture and queried it with the staff and was told that if we wanted darker batter that we should have ordered the curry batter, Our reply was that we do not like or wanted curry batter but cooked batter to which it was not,It was taken away and brought back from being put back in the fryer again of which we were told we would have new fresh fishing chips. The chips was just left under the heat light to go hard, the peas that we ordered had gone cold also so they where also reheated the bread was also dry.The haddock that was Twice cooked wasn't ,the supposedly twice cooked chips were left to go dry under a heat lamp. and the peas to go cold. and then reheated. It was nothing like of what you claim that you serve traditional British dishes. From where it all Began you have left the rails some time ago from when we first visited here right from the beginning when you first started till now. Its gone down hill in more ways than one. There cannot be the excuse that you was busy for there was only a few tables in use when we came in To have poor service and most importantly poor standard of food You have lost two old customers from now on

My wife and I came to georges last Saturday. The moment we entered we were greeted with a warm welcome. The fish was incredible our 2 kids loved the chicken and veggie burger they had too. The only issue we had was we couldn't eat all the food before getting full but our server, Leslie I think his name was, kindly packed up our food so we could take it with us and enjoy it for supper. Highly recommend for families!They will be seeing us again soon!

Me and my girlfriend almost didn’t come to this place. We were about to walk into the building next door until I spotted the sign and the inside of George’s and we liked what we saw.. we walked in and already were greeted pleasantly.. the food was really nice.. filled our tummies and we only wish we had room for desert. After leaving, we both agreed that the waiter was one of the nicest we’d ever had. He was pleasant, patient and kind. Unfortunately as we don’t live locally it won’t be a regular but I absolutely recommend coming here. And on top of all that, the waiter liked my hoodie! XD

I had a delicious 3 course meal consisting of the goats cheese fritter starter, the salmon for my main and the cookie dough pie for dessert. The meals were beautiful presented and so full of flavour. George’s is my all time favourite restaurant to visit in Nottingham. Whatever the occasion. If you’re visiting with friends, a birthday meal or for when you out and about in the town. They’re always consistent and I have great experience every time. The atmosphere and the service is wonderful and their cocktails are amazing. Thank you George’s!

The venue is excellent! It’s spacious and very interesting. Very themed with matching decor. Definitely not your run of the mill interior made it feel special from the beginning. A great menu made it hard hard to choose. Once you did, food envy hit as other orders were served to tables. I chose steak and it was absolutely perfect. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The restaurant has obviously changed Hands as I've been using it since it opened. The menu is disappointing with popular dishes removed and massive hike in prices. The last time we visited it wasn't good but this time we left without eating and some young guy claimed he was George the owner and wanted to argue. There was was a group of three on the restaurant and that says it all. Poor choices, very expensive, rude staff ...... Why would you waste your money

Popped into George’s pre 9to 5 (fabulous btw) offered a beach hut upstairs Concept was great but once in felt very claustrophobic. Ordered fish and chips and battered sausage both of which were lovely but the chips weren’t very hot. No apple cider only fruit ciders. Hubbie not happy. Waitress came and cleared two plates while two of us were still eating. Sorry, but that’s unacceptable - sure aforementioned husband could have cleared up my cold chips. Bad etiquette hence the 13p tip!

Went here for a birthday meal after being at the theatre. Food was nice but I felt it was overpriced for what it was and the alcoholic drink prices extortionate. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

The waiter on the door was kind enough to to give us a table even though we hadn’t booked. There were several empty tables throughout our time there which was about 45 mins. Wish we hadn’t bothered. The food was distinctly average. How this place has 4 plus stars I have no idea. Avoid unless you are desperate.

My wife and I this week celebrated our 4th Wedding Anniversary. Every year I try to arrange something that is enjoyable, memorable and worthwhile. I can easily say with absolute certainty that this anniversary meal we will not forget thanks to the wonderful staff and service at Georges. I want to say a quick well done to the staff before I go on about how good the food was. The staff were so helpful and informant and moved heaven and earth for me when I asked to have one of the desserts I had seen on the TA website. The server informed me that the menu had recently change but the pictures on the Tripadvisor website had not yet been updated to reflect the change.Now i have put a quick mention about the staff, i will spend the rest of this message talking about the food. The food at George's was out of this world. I have never ever thought that a Chippy could be a bespoke restaurant but I am very much mistaken. The food at George's was just incredible, the choice, the quality of food not to mention the portions. They have a fantastic wide choice of drinks both exotic, common and unique (I had the BROTHERS Toffee Apple but nearly had the FRUIT SALAD Sweets cocktail which was an option). My wife had the Basket of Scampi and I had the Chicken and Waffles with S/P Fries. My wife informed me that this was the best Scampi she had ever had in her life. My meal was so amazing I cannot wait to go back and have it again, the portion size was massive, and took up almost the entire plate, the chicken was amazing and came with strips of Bacon and a Belgian Waffle coated in Maple syrup. For dessert my wife asked for Nutella doughnuts and was just expecting a dish of small dougnuts but instead was presented with a dish that contained doughnuts, nutella sauce and a massive roll of CANDY FLOSS. As i mentioned previously the staff kindly got me a dessert which technically should not have been available anymore as I expressed my love for CARAMAC, they went out of their way to accommodate me. I do not write a lot of reviews but as I said to the gentleman who served me I felt compelled to write this review. George's was such an amazing place and we will definitely going back and I can guarantee that it will be a lot sooner then our next anniversary. Saying that though I dont know how I am going to be able to top this experience when it comes to the 5th......

We arrived after a semi long journey from the South as I had business up here and my wife accompanied me to the wonderful city of Nottingham. We found George's restaurant and by the look of it we thought it looked appealing and went inside.We ordered the Seafood basket for a main course and the seared tuna steak with bean salad with a nice bottle of sauvignon blanc.Service was relatively slow and even though the waitress who gave a great service told us that the kitchen was at full throttle, I wondered why 3 tables that were sat down before us received their food first.When I received my seafood basket it had two calamari Rings two pieces of long fish, albeit relatively small and two other pieces of seafood as depicted in the picture that I attach. I asked if this was a mistake and if they had accidentally prepared for me a starter full.. The waiter came over and took the place away only to return it 2 minutes later confirming that this dish was actually a main course for which I had to pay £17.Even though I like to give half decent reviews and do not like disparaging food outlets, especially in the pandemic that we are all suffering, I must say that a visit to George's best kitchen left a really sour taste in my mouth as we were not even asked if the meal was roomie satisfaction Sorry guys - not good for a 60 gbp lunch

The food was absolutely amazing and the cocktails were drinks I'd never had before, which were so tasty! The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help. I was on my hen do and we were a party of 11 which was split over 2 tables due to covid but the staff served us as one table so we got drinks and food at the same time which was so kind oft them. I can really say that I enjoyed my lunch today at George's.I ordered a seafood basket, there were squid, prawns and haddock and cod, all served with 3 types of sauces and delicious fried chips. The staff made me feel very comfortable.They were smiling, friendly and professional at the same time.I think I will back here again. I saw at a table in front of me two lovely children that were eating delicious ice creams. So I want to try it. :-D

Went to George's on the off chance as another restaurant had let us down and we were made to feel very welcome from the start. Despite being quite busy the staff were very attentive and found time to interact with us even though they were looking after other tables that were seated around us. The manager came over to check how we were doing which was nice as often you don't see a manager being as hands on. A special mention to Tony and Billy (the head chef) who presented us with a personalised dessert and a balloon as it was my friends birthday. The balloon made our day even as 'grown ups!' The food was really good and we felt like the staff made every effort in order to make it a memorable visit. Thanks again!

Asya , was absolutely amazing ... she was so kind and patient with us. It is my first time here and I will 100% come back due to her kind nature and amazing service I have had a lovely time and it was due to the amazing service of this lovely woman! She has been professional in the face of adversity and dealt with every situation that has come her way! Thank you so much

Took ages for the waitress to come and take our drinks order, the drinks took 20 minutes to come, when they did arrive the waitress only brought half of them! We then asked if our food order could be taken and we were told no as they weren’t the correct waitress for this table, a long time after that still no one came so we flagged someone else down to take our order, we then had to wait an hour and twenty minutes for our food to come despite us enquiring at least three times as to how much longer it would be. We ordered more drinks in the mean time which also took a long time and we still only ended up with half the order. Another waitress then brought us more drinks which we did not order but she insisted they were for our table and subsequently we were charged for them. All evening no body every approached our table to offer service, anything we needed it was a case of flagging someone down. We will never return to George’s again and will not be recommending to anyone we know.

Over an hour for our starter to come, then 30 minutes for the main. Fish fingers were mainly batter, chips were dried out. Not impressed at all.

Food was average. Polite staff however could have been more attentive. It took 20 mins for someone to take our drinks order and it appeared they were more concerned about getting people seated. Totally understand the team were busy and getting used to the business again. Sadly I wouldn’t revisit but no complaints about the food or presentation.

Booked a table for today via the website for lunch and turned up to the location to find it not actually being open like it says on the website.... the website shouldn’t be allowing bookings if it isn’t open

This is by far my favourite resturant. I was here non stop before going into lockdown and will continue to go once lockdown ends! The food is incredible! The dessert I have never seen before. Mini doughnuts with a side of candy floss its absolutely brilliant! Best place to take the kids and the kids and adults enjoy it equally. I will be here constantly. Without a doubt

Went with a friend for lunch. Best fish and chips in Nottingham. Lovely restaurant and staff very helpful.

So on arrival my first observation as always during these strange times is- how sensible are the covid restrictions. I was pleasantly surprised. The waiters were masks the whole time we were there. They kept their distance and pointed out the 1 way system.Covid out the way now for the good stuff the food!.I had 2 courses cod pakoras in bhaji better and traditional fish and chips.My partner had squid and chicken on some waffles which sounds odd but he said it was the perfect blend of sweet with savory and a lovely change!Chicken burger for child 1 and fish goujons for child 2They also had a pudding.My fish was delicious. Tender light better served red hot which is perfect. The peas were even yummy! My partners as mentioned he said was Devine and the boys ate all theirs.The service was good. Nice and quick which I like. The sauces that came with the starters really made the meal the chutney with my cod pakoras was soooooo good.We came a few years ago and it wasnt as good. I'm glad we came back!!

Such a lovely lunch today at George’s, all Covid policy’s very much in place for a safe experience. Chris and Lewis (I hope I got that right) gave exceptional service throughout under the circumstances. The food was delicious and the two course’s for £10 was great value for money. My children loved it and were very impressed by the puddings! Will definitely be back soon.

Had a great time here, lovely food, great decor and lovely service from Matt, who was excellent at his job. Great customer service. We will be back!

This was the best chicken and waffles I have tasted and I’ve only had it once (looool). It was piping hot when it arrived and it is just enough to fill you up. Worth all the money and we didn’t have to wait long for it to arrive. Matt! Matt was great, had the best service from him and he was very welcoming. Very friendly and helpful individual. Keep it up Matt !!
