Visited this hidden gem a couple of times for lunch & the food is outstanding. Restaurant quality food at very reasonable prices. It's a little out of the way but well worth the effort & I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Definitely a place to visit when in Newcastle, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. No alcohol served, so don't expect a glass of wine with your meal but the food and extensive menu are to be commended.

Tucked slightly out of the way in central Newcastle, George St is the perfect place to come for a relaxed coffee with friends, or enjoy something substantial for lunch from the spectacularly varied menu. George St wears its heart on its sleeve regarding it's importance as a haven for the recovery community, but caters for all-comers, being frequented by plenty of students from the nearby college looking for somewhere friendly to catch-up, or get on with some work in peace. The in-house kitchen staff work tirelessly to perfect a delicious menu that combines a variety of cuisines, with the cakes and pastries on display also providing a sumptuous snack to satisfy any sweet tooth. Regular entertainment events are held, with music and comedy shows, and an open-mic night on the last Friday of every month. If you're looking for a friendly, comfortable place to relax and enjoy exquisite food and drink, you need look no further (unless of course you're desperate for booze, none of that here).

This place is absolutely fantastic, great atmosphere enhanced by fantastic staff who all ways have a warm welcome and a genuine smile. The food is delicious with very reasonable prices. I have had breakfast and lunch at George street on a number of occasions and can honestly say I have never had an issue with the food or the service. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 11 years and this place has everything right keep doing what your doing.

I've just popped in to my favourite chill out place in Newcastle upon Tyne and guess what? There's a whole new menu. The chef has worked all over the world- for some of the biggest names in the music world. The food is just outstanding. The staff are friendly and can't do enough to make you feel welcome. Come on down for top quality grub at prices you won't get anywhere else.

Newcastle's first 'dry' bar and how cool is this?! Coffees, cakes and all the usual just no alcohol.

Really enjoy my visits to George Street. The coffee is top quality and the staff are friendly. In addition to this the decor is funky and the snug is very cosy. I occasionally treat myself to a slice of cake , always a big slice and tasty.

There's been a few great places for coffee opening around Newcastle in the last couple of years but this one has to be my favourite. Best coffee in town and the service is always spot on. They also show the football and have a free pool table too so what's not to love! Visited here on a few occasions now though and it's one of my favourite places to stop by on the way to work. Great coffee, excellent service and a nice vibe all round.

This cafe is just around the corner from work and we visit often. I love a independent cafe, (the further from Starbucks the better!) and this is a diamond. The food is always fresh and home-made, the coffee always hits the spot, and the guys who work here are always lovely. It's a comfortable and cosy , the decor is great - loads of nice touches make it super Instagram-able! Perfect for a bite to eat, a casual work meeting, and the filter coffee is only £1 so great for takeaway too. It's a great addition to an area where it's quite difficult to find anything other than junk food.

George St social is a fantastic venue with a really warm, welcoming vibe. The coffee is great and you can get a tasty filter coffee for a pound. It’s one of my favourite places to chill out and read a book. The main space is bright with a good range of mellow music and in the back is the snug if you’re after a more subdued, cosy hideaway. There’s always a range of different events on from early morning yoga to football screenings in the afternoon. George St Social has something for everyone and is a fantastic fixture in the local community.

I am a regular at George Street simply because of the warm and friendly atmosphere. This place not only serves delicious drinks, smoothies and food but provides a place for those in recovery to socialise and remain well. It has a real community feel. Very relaxed and ideal for those with children. The outside seating area is great to relax and unwind in warmer weather. Fun events to get involved in or sit back and be entertained. There is no place quite like George Street Social

I'm in and out of George St Social all the time. There's no other coffee place quite like it, with comfortable couches; pleasant, chatty, friendly staff; a free pool table and so much more. The selection of soup, cakes and sandwiches on offer are simply delicious....and I've sampled most , if not all of them. It's a haven from the hustle and bustle of the city. Not just your average coffee shop. It's a recovery centre and there's always someone there for a chat, if you wish, or a friendly smile to let you know you're ok. And.....they even open extra hours if there are football matches on, so there's somewhere other than a crowded pub to watch your favourites! I honestly can't recommend this place highly enough. If you haven't been, you should go!

I loved this place from the first time I came across it about a year ago. In my humble opinion there's a great feel about the place, the decor is cool, relaxing and welcoming. A strange place. Sitting in an ok seat and all of a sudden a load of strange looking people came from upstairs and stood outside smoking. They were very loud and It wasn’t very nice. Miserable staff didn’t smile and they didn’t acknowledge us when we walked in or when they served us. On a good point the filter coffee is ok and is only £1.00. The music playing in the place is awful, it really is very very bad. I cannot imagine who likes the junk they were playing. Maybe this is why the place was empty. They’ll don’t serve anything like a bacon sandwich. The sandwiches they did have they were a shabby selection and very expensive. Especially as they looked unprofessional and homemade. I went there because of a recommendation I wouldn’t go again. They seem to forget there are a number of other cafes in the area and in my humble opinion go somewhere else.

Beautiful large traybakes, huge and very scrumptious, which I got boxed and took home. Beautiful architecture and atmosphere in this old church. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Definitely will be back to sit in and try the all day breakfast menu.

In my opinion, this is the best cat café in Newcastle. The cats are well-behaved, well-cared for, and the tea is delicious. The only downside for me is that the interior feels a bit too bare—not very cozy and lacking in enrichment for the cats.

Great vibes, beers are okay. Certainly a date night venue.
